Thanks for your contribution! I really hope someone can expand the article and made it become GA. BTW, I hope that the graphics can be translated into Chinese too.

FYI, I'm currently in the process to elevate the status of Malaysian Chinese article but I'm confused on the status of two states of Pahang and Perak. I have some questions if you may help me, are the Cantonese is the majority of ethnic Chinese in entire Pahang?

  • Bentong is Guangxi majority.
  • Mentakab has many Guangdong and Hokkien people, along with some Guangxi and Hakka people.
  • Triang (Bera) is Hokkien majority, with Hakka people.
  • Raub, Lipis and Jerantut are Hakka majority but with a lot of Guangxi people.
  • Seri Jaya, Maran is Guangxi majority.
  • Kuantan is Guangdong majority
  • Cameron Highlands seems like Hakka majoritu, but I dont sure.

Based on cari, the most ethnic is Hokkien, along with Hakka, Guangdong and Guangxi. (see this https://cforum1.cari.com.my/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1170158&mobile=2)

What about Taiping? Is Hakka is the majority there? Hokkien majority with Guangdong and Hakka.

Also in entire Perak is Hokkien is the majority there? For Ipoh is Guangdong, Manjung is Foochew other region is Hokkein majority...

Thanks, the map can be seen below.

another map you should refer File:马来西亚华语影响图.svg http://ywlock.blogspot.com/2009/04/blog-post.html?m=1

Noted that Kula Terengganu Hainan majority.

angys (Talk Talk) 09:51, 1 May 2019 (UTC)

And for the map, you should adjust

  • Taiping is Hokkien majority so should change to Kuala Kangsar which is Hakka majority.
  • Kuala Terengganu is Hainan
  • Not necessary to list Seremban as it already same color with NS
  • Shah Alam should change to Petaling Jaya, there are only 10% Chinese in that city.
  • Same as Muar and Batu Pahat, Johor Bahru is Teochew actually.
  • Batu Kawa, Spoah, Bintangor, Kanowit, Marudi, Tenom, Papar, Kuala Penyu, Penampang, Tuaran, Kota Belud, Kota Marudu, Beluran, Lahad Datu, Kunak Sempurna's population are lesser, should not in this map. You should add Sri Aman.
  • Sandakan is Guangdong majority. angys (Talk Talk) 10:21, 1 May 2019 (UTC)
  • BTW, you should remove Maran as there is Malay majority and the Chinese only concentrated at Sri Jaya. And Kuala Lipis should between CH and Jerantut. FYI, Sepang (Sungai Pelek) also Foochew majority and Hockchia same as the Foochew. angys (Talk Talk) 08:53, 2 May 2019 (UTC)

@*angys*: Thanks for this correction, but the map I rather choose for the article is the one with the label of "most majority" in each states which explaining the different Chinese ethnicity living in different areas since the way how the Malaysian statistics (inherited from the past government) labelling each ethnic Chinese today are poorly as only "Chinese" than telling their actual different groups including the minority. This subsequently makes many younger Malaysians especially from non-Chinese today have very poor knowledge on the Chinese ethnicity more when they think every Chinese people are just the same without understand there are actually different groups of Chinese across the country, they may even probably don't know the different sounds and tone language when each of the group speaking among them. The same when they labelling every Bumiputras and Malay Muslims in the country especially in East Malaysia without clearly explaining the actual "Malay race" and the Bumis since there are also many different dialects between them with many are ambiguously categorised. Just like the way how they ("some" of the Malays) persistenly accuse us (the Chinese) as being "communist" worshippers until this day due to their past bitter memories with communist insurgencies everytime when any debate in the parliament or incoming election, but they don't realise there also many Chinese who despise communism like Singapore and Taiwan similarly like the Koreans and Vietnamese in the south. Night Lanternhalo? 03:20, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
@*angys*: Do you have the record of 1980 census? So far I only get the only 1980 census for WM. The full one is available in a book but can't be viewed entirely. This is another example of problem from the Malaysian Census when they poorly managing important data records unlike the United States Census. Night Lanternhalo? 08:32, 3 May 2019 (UTC)
  • You can refer to corresponding Chinese Wikipedia pages at the “人口比例” (Demographic composition) part, and the parliamentary Chinese voters map should listed in English wp article as it shows that the majority Chinese city/town and the minority. angys (Talk Talk) 13:12, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Historical flags of the British Empire and the overseas territories, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Governor of Sarawak (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). I Have Read This Article

Hi Night Lantern, I have read this news today will they postpone the ASO because of Astro?

Here is this article

"“The increase in the number of connected set-top box also indicates that consumers are possibly opting for Astro’s attractive and premium contents, for example HBO Go and iQIYI, ahead of the analogue-switch off possibly in the fourth quarter of current year 2019 (4QCY19) or year 2020 which could bode well for Astro in earnings,” it added." 110.159.7.39 (talk) 11:56, 17 September 2019 (UTC)

@110.159.7.39: Hello Mr. Anonymous. I believe the text you taking are from this source. If you read an early phrase before the text, it is mentioned the view is from the research arm of Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga Research), an independent bank in Malaysia. You need to know that in most country national television digitalisation transition plan, the actual department that responsible is the government information department, not to any company or even a bank. The government has further announce on the transition stages early in August. In my short answer, just for what they make an official announcement if this plan are not going to go through in the end? That will only make the government looks incompetent and could lose trust from the public since most will perceive any plan for the country are only better at its announcement, not to be fully being realised. As seen from most of your contribution through different internet protocol address (IP addresses) which I am positively believe coming from the same person, it seems you are either working with Astro or have some ties with the company. Talking about Astro, this one is not a digital terrestrial television rather than a satellite television, so even when the full transition has been done with all analogue signal is shut down, they are in no way affected as they are not connected by any means. Unless if you are talking about profits gathered by Astro through their monopoly for years and their fears of losing more customers then there is perhaps some conflict of interest in here. Miri, Malaysia population edits

Hi Night Lantern,

I was reviewing edits by User:AriAnto1999 and noticed your recent edit to the population stat in the side bar. The source listed, if I'm reading it correctly on page one, in one of the center columns (nineth column from the left), lists the total population of Miri as 234,541. Am I missing something? Dleit Ḵaa (talk) 22:51, 23 September 2019 (UTC)

@Dleit Ḵaa: Hi Mr. Dleit Ḵaa. Yes, the statistics is right, only a statistics table released in the website of the government of Sarawak giving a different numbers than the federal statistics. As seen in the article history, it has been vandalised by several unregistered editors before so there must be one of them who tried to confuse me and other patrollers. Frequently (not only once), there is an unregistered editor based in Malaysia who like to change population statistics number among different cities in the country not according on federal government statistics. Thanks for informing btw! Night Lanternhalo? 02:02, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Multi-line shadow signature

Hi Night Lantern,

thank you for your numerous, helpful, experienced contributions. You may ignore or even delete this message and I won't be offended; this is not meant to be a warning but only an expression of possibly unnecessary thought.

I'll also note that I'm definitely not a neutral representative of the larger community's view in this regard, so please take my notice with a large grain of salt.

I personally think that a signature with a triple-line (pink-)red shadow may be a bit excessively giving...

undue prominence to a given user's contribution
— wording used twice in WP:SIG, although referring to images and length

I'd argue that the spirit of the guideline/policy, not its exact wording, may be relevant here. That said, WP:SIGAPP does not explicitly forbid large shadows that span across multiple lines. Also, depending on monitor settings, the shadow may well look different on your screen than it does on mine, and that may well be an issue with my personal monitor configuration.

The "largest", but thus also faintest, shadow in your signature seems to have a radius of (0.8+)0.9 em; the bottom shadow appears to have a radius of (0.7+)0.8 em and a base color of deep red (#DC143C). This may be a bit excessive; the possibly intended "lantern" effect indeed causes a bright lantern to shine out of the text to me. The size of the bottom shadow makes it (admittedly barely) appear inside the first line of the next discussion participant's text, which may be a kind of "bright line" I personally would perhaps avoid crossing with a signature. Same may apply to the previous commenter's text when you write a one-line reply.

But then again, that all said, I'm perhaps the wrong person to complain about this. 😊

Happy editing! ~ ToBeFree (talk) 21:48, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

About Administrative division in Sabah

I would like to a so you a question, is there exist lower administrative division after Daerah in Sabah? Heard that there are subdistrict and mukim in Sabah but don't know whether it exist or not. angys (Talk Talk) 16:31, 9 January 2020 (UTC)

@*angys*: As what I recently see on Ranau District Council, Keningau District Office, Sook Small District Office, Kemabong Small District Office and this Utusan Borneo news websites, there is indeed mukims in Sabah. There is even one mukim called "Paris" in Kinabatangan as stated by Berita Harian. I don't know much the exact total of all these mukims as it is constantly growing unnoticeable, perhaps the Malay Wikipedia has a list for all Sabah mukims.  Ṉight Ḻantern 🏮 00:30, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
But there is no official sources state that how many sub districts and mukims in Sabah, pretty annoying. Just heard that there will establish a new district for Kimanis, and the preparation work for Kalabakan sub-district are ongoing. angys (Talk Talk) 06:53, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
@*angys*: That is the common problem with the authority in this country inherited since the BN era, when they create something they didn't officially publish the stats. Not just you feel like that, even me were annoyed with the no improvement towards this country system that makes me to put a temporarily stop on my work here. Closely looking like how the development going on since the old government era when even there is already many developer want to built expensive residences and malls, the "involved authority" just keep approving and the other developer also seems have no idea to built other important infrastructures like modern public transport, place for relieving stress like entertainment, theme park etc.  Ṉight Ḻantern 🏮 08:00, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Yes, but allow me to off topic a little bit, if this election still the candidate from BN win, then I dont know how Sabah can continue improve, cuz you can see Sabah has many natural resource even airport is the 3nd busiest in Malaysia, indeed a good government is important for Sabah to clarify their aministrative division, now already 2020 but their website looks like 2000-era, even Sarawak web portal are better then Sabah district web portal. angys (Talk Talk) 08:09, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
@*angys*: I don't think that is off topic other than the actual reality the people in the state facing right now. That's true and the website feature is just one of the many things that need to be improved and fixed by the current government now. Me myself hope the current government will fix and improve all the past ugly BN legacy but what making many people dissatisfied also is because until now I can't see any move by the government to improve for example the most important one right now is the railway service in Sabah. They keep busy arguing about race, religion and immigrants issues and now it's already 2020 with the authorities in KL dreaming for flying car in the capital city but in Sabah the train system is still like in the 1980s as we are living in North Korea. Even I see a very slow progress on the Pan Borneo Highway section of Sabah.  Ṉight Ḻantern 🏮 10:18, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
Yes, but still better than no progress, is there has any article about Pas Sementara Sabah in Wikipedia now? angys (Talk Talk) 12:05, 12 January 2020 (UTC)
@*angys*: No, there is none. For now I'm planning to create the article about Influenza A virus epidemic in Malaysia.  Ṉight Ḻantern 🏮 14:00, 19 January 2020 (UTC)

This is an invitation to join the 50,000 Destubbing Challenge Focus of the Week. £250 (c. $310) is being given away in May, June and July with £20 worth of prizes to give away every week for most articles destubbed. Each week there is a different region of focus, including one week dedicated to South-South East Asia, though half the prize will still be rewarded for articles on any subject. There's a potential £120 to be won in total for destubbing on any subject or region of your choice. Invitation to RedWarn

Hello, Night Lantern! I noticed you have been using Twinkle and was wondering if you'd like to beta test my new tool, RedWarn, specifically designed to improve your editing experience.

  • Easy to use - Unlike other tools, RedWarn uses easy to interpret icons and simple summaries for common actions, reducing both learning and reading times.
  • Supports rollback and rollback-like functionality - Unlike Twinkle, RedWarn supports both rollback and rollback-like functionality for users will rollback permissions. This decreases waiting times during rollbacks.
  • Making life easier on the battlefield - Ever been in the middle of a vandalism war or campaign, frantically reloading the history page to see a new edit? No more! Enabling RedWarn's "Alert on Change" feature will automatically send you to the latest edit when a new edit occurs - and if you're working on something else, RedWarn will send you a notification while the tab is still open in the background. No time wasted.
  • Rollback previews - If you're ever worried about the changes a rollback will make, especially in the case of reverting good faith edits, you can click the rollback preview button to preview the difference a rollback will make, with the version that will be restored on the right, and the latest revision on the left.
  • Always the latest revision - RedWarn will automatically redirect you to the latest revision if the rollback is no longer for the latest revision - no more frustrating errors.
  • Fast - RedWarn can automatically select a warning level, and, on vandalism and content removal rollbacks, automatically select a warning template.
  • Built on your feedback - RedWarn is receiving frequent feature additions and changes based on your feedback. If there's something you don't like, or would like to see, just say!
  • and many more features ...but I don't want to fill your userpage.

RedWarn is currently in use by over 35 other Wikipedians, and feedback so far has been extremely positive. If you're interested, please see see the RedWarn tool page for more information on RedWarn's features which I haven't listed here. Otherwise, feel free to remove this message from your page. If you have any further questions, please ping me or leave a message on my talk page. Your feedback is much appreciated! Ed6767 talk! 00:39, 8 June 2020 (UTC)

Notice

The file File:Logo of TV5 (Malaysia).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused. Superseded by File:Logo of TV5 (Malaysia).png.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 14:18, 22 July 2022 (UTC)
