A tag has been placed on Lynn A. Aber, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is notable, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (below the existing db tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. --Prewitt81 05:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not delete templates placed on your page. If you wish to protest, follow the procedure by placing {{hangon}} in the article as instructed. --Prewitt81 06:02, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Articles

[edit]

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You have created quite a number of new articles over the past few days. While many of these seem noteworthy, some may not make the grade. In particular, Wikipedia has criteria for establishing who is deemed worthy of an article, and simply being married to somebody famous does not count; have a look at this for further information. Chris 21:02, 7 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please read our manual of style and our policy on copyright violations. --Wafulz 03:09, 8 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I can see why, but I think the ones who are married to certain people of famous families should be added for being either in the entertainmnet business or another job that make them noticable.

And I have a question: Why is the article of Luke Redgrave, member of the famous Redgrave family keep being deleted? He's part of the family and he's camera-operator in films.

The article Ross Hart has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done because the article seemed to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it did not indicate how or why the subject is notable, that is, why an article about that subject should be included in Wikipedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert notability may be deleted at any time. If you can indicate why the subject is really notable, you are free to re-create the article, making sure to cite any verifiable sources.

I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Peter Douglas, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). From Number87

[edit]

I believe all these people that I have written for should not deleted because I want people who like to know about their connections to a certain family, if they are either married or blood related or their other relative married to someone who is from a famous family. Also, for each one, for my case, I either cannot find more information on most of them or I fear what the biographies I might write would be be copyright from somebody else. And I would like someone else who is a member of the website to take care of the rest.

If you think that the articles should not be deleted, just go ahead and follow the process in the links above. Please remember however to comment in the edit summary or on the talk page with your reasoning. I would note however that most of these articles have been here for a few weeks and have not yet been improved by other editors. Stub articles are fine to have here, but it is my opinion that articles need to do more to establish notability that to say Person X was related to Person Y. That could be a start, but something additional needs to be there, such as: The person acted in this role, or directed this production or some other information besides being related to someone famous. You will note, for instance that I did not tag Hayley DuMond with a {{prod}} as it has additional information to demonstrate that the person is notable on their own right. --After Midnight 0001 18:33, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Recreation of deleted content

Why not? The Rooney family is a Hollywood family. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.139.43.100 (talkcontribs) 14:10, 19 April 2007

But these famiilies are in show business:

  • Category:Redgrave family
  • Category:Rooney family
  • Category:Sheen-Estevez family
  • Category:Stiller family
  • Category:Travolta family
  • Category:Trump family

I don't know about the Trump family in the Hollywood families category, but I believe all the families should have their own categories.

I do not think the Ron Burgundy page should not be deleted because I beleive readers should read about the title character besides the film.

Song of Freedom

[edit]

Hey. When you can't move a page like Song of Freedom (film) to Song of Freedom because there's already a redirect it's best to put in a move request at Wikipedia:Requested moves (WP:RM) so it can be moved properly and the edit history preserved. Cutting and pasting one page to another is generally frowned upon. I'll set this one up there. Thanks, Doctor Sunshine talk 20:43, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Rock music

Hey there. I see you're adding a bunch of albums to Category:Rock music. Most of the albums seem to already be categorized using subcategories of Category:Rock music. Similarly, you're adding song articles to the Rock music category. Unnecessary. Category:The Who songs, for example, belongs to Category:Rock songs which belongs to Category:Rock music. Wasted Time R 19:15, 4 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Notability of Wayne Hart

[edit]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Wayne Hart, by Hateless, another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Wayne Hart seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Wayne Hart, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Wayne Hart itself. Rock musical?

[edit]

Hi. Your article, The Grail - The Rock Musical of the Future, doesn't make sense to me. How can it be a "rock musical" if the music is not rock? If the title is intended as a joke, the article should say so, instead of calling it a rock musical. If the title is not a joke, then the comment in the article doesn't make sense. Either way, the article needs revision. --Russ (talk) 11:31, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It is a rock musical

[edit]

Go to:

http://www.donlinke.com/musicals/

It's the second on the list of rock musicals. By the way, a rock musical doesn't have to have rock music in it. Some rock musicals like Rent do have rock song, but most of the songs, like Seasons of Love, do have a rock-type style of music to them.

If you can indicate how Category:Whose Line Is It Anyway? actors is different from the previously posted material, or if you can indicate why this article should not be deleted, I advise you to place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article, and also put a note on [[Talk:Category:Whose Line Is It Anyway? actors]] saying why this article should stay. categorization

[edit]

Hi Number87 -- I reverted one of your edits as vandalism, but on closer look at your contributions, I think that you may just misunderstand how categories work. Specifically, you added Category:World Wrestling Council to the category Category:Organizations established in 1973 (diff). The way you did it, you basically said that "Orgs established in 1973" are a subcategory of the World Wrestling Council. I think you wanted to go the other way, and say that WWC is a subcategory of "Orgs established in 1973". In that case, you would add Category:Organizations established in 1973 to the Category:World Wrestling Council -- not the other way around.

Categories can be rather confusing & non-intuitive. Try reading Wikipedia:Categorization and Wikipedia:Categorization FAQ to get started, and feel free to drop me a line if you have questions or it seems confusing.

Cheers, Lquilter 20:36, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • PS -- You might also try overcategorization which talks about when to tag articles about people with categories for organizations they belong to and performances they gave. Wrestling is not my field, but it seems likely or at least possible that someone might find these categories to be overcategorization. You are likely better qualified than me (at this point) to assess whether it's overcategorization, once you understand the way categories work here on Wikipedia. You might also try reading WP:CLS ("categories, lists, and series infoboxes") -- sometimes, people create categories because it's the easiest way to get started, when actually the information would be much better and friendlier in a list. WP:CLS helps explain which format is the best way to present information, and when to use them, and how to set them up. Cheers, Lquilter 20:42, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Kishan Kumar

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Kishan Kumar, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. If you agree with the deletion of the article, and you are the only person who has made substantial edits to the page, please add {{db-author}} to the top of Kishan Kumar. Categories

[edit]

STOP adding unsourced or original content, as you did to Alex Trebek. Doing so violates Wikipedia's verifiability policy. This includes adding undocumented categories to articles, which you have a history of doing. If you continue, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Ward3001 (talk) 19:37, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

How is Alex Trebek unsourced?

There is nothing in the article about his involvement with WWE. If you add a category, there must be a supporting and sourced statement in the article. You've done this to a number of articles. Please stop. It's just more junk for the rest of us to have to clean up. Thank you. Ward3001 (talk) 19:42, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

However, in the article, WrestleMania VII, it states that Trebek was a guest at the pay-per-view show.

That is not an adequate way for the Trebek article to have a sourced citation. Read WP:CITE and WP:V, then add a sourced statement to the Trebek article before adding the category again. Repeatedly adding unsourced information can result in a block from editing Wikipedia. Ward3001 (talk) 02:48, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Number87! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 9 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 698 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

The article Rhea Pillai has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No evidence of notability. None of the sources cited gives more than passing mention.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. A tag has been placed on Anthony Arkin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you.  Mbinebri  talk ← 01:01, 27 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]
