Speedy deletion of Kohinoor samudra

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Kohinoor samudra, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be blatant advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an encyclopedia article. Please read the guidelines on spam as well as Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. I'm okay for deletion if you find this is against any policy Parag Kokane 12:10, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Rehekuri Blackbuck Sanctuary requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://www.mahaforest.nic.in/sanctuary_detail.php?sat_id=23&sid=33. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Control copyright icon Hello Parag.kokane, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Drm310 (talk) 14:28, 8 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of India Birds

[edit]

Hello, Parag.kokane

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged India Birds for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons. For more details please see the notice on the article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

(Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.)

Hi Umakant, I understand the reason why it was marked for deletion! But not sure how to convince to unblock my user profile, it was tagged as WP:COI & WP:Paid. I'm actually not involved and doing any paid promotions or anything like that. Can you help me understand how may I unblock myself? Parag Kokane 05:13, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

The external link shared here that is in question is my own work only. But I'm okay for deletion if you find this is against any policy Parag Kokane 12:12, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest

[edit]

Information icon Hello, Parag.kokane. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:Spam);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.

Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Umakant Bhalerao (talk) 06:22, 4 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

It's fair that you mark some of the articles for deletion if they are not complying with wiki policies. But this is very unfair that you are blocking my account by giving warning to stop disruptive editing. I'm only trying to add the missing information; and the articles which are marked for deletion are quite old too. And since, I'm not a regular visitor on wiki I could not respond to the deletion requests. But I'll pay attention to what I'm editing and comply with policy. Can you please unblock my account? Parag Kokane 11:47, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

Decline reason:

I am declining your unblock request because it does not address the reason for your block, or because it is inadequate for other reasons. To be unblocked, you must convince the reviewing administrator(s) that

  • the block is not necessary to prevent damage or disruption to Wikipedia, or
  • the block is no longer necessary because you
    1. understand what you have been blocked for,
    2. will not continue to cause damage or disruption, and
    3. will make useful contributions instead.

Please read the guide to appealing blocks for more information. Yamla (talk) 13:09, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Unfortunately, my wiki account has been blocked for disruptive editing. Though it was not intentional, but I do understand why I had been blocked for. Requesting you to kindly unblock my account and I promise that I will not cause any damage or disruption and would like to continue making useful contributions to wiki.

Request reason:

There are 3 pages that were marked for deletion because of WP:COI & WP:Paid; and I agree with the reasons. I'll summarize why these pages are added. First of all, let me assure you that - I'm not at all involved or associated or doing any kind of paid promotions or writing contents on anyone's behalf. Page #1: Kohinoor Samudra - this is the place that I had visited and it is a famous tourist attraction place (Titanic Point); place was also mentioned in MTDC (Maharashtra Tourism) brochures and MTDC stickers were places in the premises. Hence, I added this place on wikipedia. I'm in no way involved in paid promotions and do not really want to do spamming on wikipedia. Page #2: Rehekuri Sanctuary - This is a known wild life sanctuary in Maharashtra and operating under Forest department. There was no mention of this sanctuary in wikipedia hence I added this page; I agree that I referred text from other websites to create the page; but added my own photo of blackbucks in wikimedia (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Pair_of_blackbucks!.jpg#/media/File:Pair_of_blackbucks!.jpg). I understand the concern and would love to edit the contents to write this article in my own workds. Page #3: Indian Birds - I do bird photography and this app is the oldest birding app available in India and hence thought of showcasing it on wikipedia. But I agree with the policy and the reason why it is getting deleted.

Requesting you to please unblock my user account and I'll make sure to follow the rules carefully and only do productive edits. Parag Kokane 05:28, 24 March 2022 (UTC)

Request reason:

I have gone through the block reason and gone through the COI and Paid Editor articles; and I totally understood why my article was categorised as an advertisement. It was my mistake/lack of my attention to the basic principles; not to add an article which is not adding any value to wiki and wiki community but only promoting the particular business. I have read and gone through all the policies and guidelines and I'll not make any such mistakes. I had replied on article deletion request with my comments and I'm not a paid editor hence can I request you to kindly unblock my user account? If you need any more clarification that I'm missing please let me know, Parag Kokane 12:13, 7 May 2023 (UTC)

Can you clarify what sorts of edits you intend to make if unblocked? signed, Rosguill talk 05:56, 7 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The edits I plan to make are mainly focused on improving the accuracy, completeness, and readability of articles within my areas of knowledge and expertise. I aim to contribute by:
1. Conducting fact-checking and ensuring information is up-to-date: I will verify the accuracy of existing content by cross-referencing with reliable sources and updating it as necessary.
2. Adding relevant information and citations: If I come across any significant gaps in the content or discover relevant information that could enhance the articles, I will include it along with appropriate citations.
3. Correcting grammatical errors and improving readability: I will help enhance the overall quality of articles by fixing grammatical errors, improving sentence structure, and ensuring a smooth flow of information.
4. Assisting with formatting and organisation: I will pay attention to the formatting of articles, ensuring they adhere to the wiki's guidelines and policies. This includes proper use of headings, bullet points, and other formatting elements to enhance readability.
5. Collaborating with other editors: I am open to engaging in discussions with fellow editors, responding to user queries, and actively participating in the community to foster a collaborative and inclusive editing environment.
I understand the importance of adhering to the wiki's guidelines, policies, and standards. I assure you that I will respect those principles in my editing activities. I hope this clarifies my intentions. If you have any further questions or require additional information, please don't hesitate to ask. I look forward to the possibility of contributing positively to the wiki community. Parag Kokane 08:45, 8 June 2023 (UTC)
