Myrtle Tannehill
I stand corrected on Tannehill's lawsuit to La Rue ["Grace La Rue Sued", LA Times February 11 1920](*several sources,see link). I don't understand how Tannehill thought she was going to win since Hamiton was a grown man responsible for his own actions and he and La Rue married legally. But I digress. It doesn't state if Tannehill won anything. Alienation-of-affections goes on to this day(*see link) and can be quite awarding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlYRBik3uf8

Perhaps you would also like to add the {{Participant:Women in Red August 2018 achievements}} box to your user page (unless you are waiting until you achieve barnstart recognition for five or more). I think a box on your user page might well attract more interest and lead to wider participation in writing women's biographies. Thanks for creating article on Ursula Emerson. Do you want to add a couple of missionary wives to your to do list? I have a problem with starting articles sometimes since I overdo it sometimes with quality instead of just creating a start article. - As an aside - one of the topics I want to address in the event to be held at Octocon is how people who think they can't edit because of reasons (like being unable to type for long periods due to physical limitations) can still be major contributors - through copy editing, peer reviews, project rating, reviewing DYK and uploading photos etc. I note from your user page that you work with areas of disabilities. I thought you might have some useful insights or pointers for me. The major topic we are trying to address is lack of genre (specifically women and minorities biographies) in Science Fiction and Fantasy etc on the wiki. But we also want to get that diversity into the editor population and there will be a wide variety of people at the event with many different skills and abilities or limitations. I want to make sure they are all able to see the potential for their involvement. ☕ Antiqueight chatter 18:08, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Antiqueight:That sounds like a great priority for your event. And you're right, there are SO many ways to contribute beyond writing! I always suggest translation tasks (if someone is fluent in another language) or adding a ref (like #1lib1ref). It's easy to start with today's newspaper; is there anything in the headlines that could be added to an article on Wikipedia? An obituary of someone notable? A shortlist for a literary prize? If you have the newspaper in hand, you already have a source. Same with any reliable reference materials. I sometimes think pairing up two starting editors to work together is one way to get through some of the challenges. So, one does the typing, one looks at sources, one writes and one reads it over for errors, before hitting "save". Just a little more security, safety in numbers, for some folks. The AfroCine Project welcomes you to October, the first out of the two months which has been dedicated to improving contents that centre around the cinema of Africa, the Caribbean, and the diaspora.

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Hello, Penny Richards. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Quick question–how sure are you about her date of birth? I've got a bit of a mystery here-two rather dubious-looking sources say 1886: what seems to be the VIAF page on her and this website (apparently a digitisation of some contemporary reference book, but I haven't been able to find out what). - Blythwood I saw those, yeah; the 1887 date comes from the Death Master File listings (assuming she's the Mabel E. Bloch with a February 1975 death, and 10021 zipcode; her death was listed in the NYTimes so a NYC zipcode makes sense); seemed more solid than the 1886 guess. - Ah right. I think circa is probably better, my feeling is when sources contradict it's better to outright explicitly state that than leave it ambiguous why you preferred one over the other. (I've run into this kind of thing before, and even one case I can't find where we were reduced to consulting a calendar of 1928 to figure out whether "last Tuesday" in a newspaper was the date we thought it was...) It's a shame I can't find where that Grande Musica website is getting its text from, as it does look authentic. (Also, just in case you didn't know, the ping function is tied to a signature, you have to sign a post when you ping or it doesn't work.) Blythwood (talk)
- Oh yes, one other thing-how confident do you feel that the VIAF page is her and worth linking to this article? I ran into this when I was trying to activate the authcon tag. The one thing on there I could track down-a set of recordings of Wagner's music arranged for piano and organ rolls-sounds like it might be her, but I'm not 100% positive. Myrtle Elvyn, aka Myrtle Elvyn Bloch (c1886-1975) definitely made recordings of Tchaikovsky and Rubinstein, at least--I found reference to it but didn't mention it in the article (yet, can now add); here's the ref for that fact: Hugh Hoffman, "The Welte Autograph Organ" Moving Picture World (November 22, 1913): 855. Hallo Penny, A lot of your new articles have popped up in my notifications because many years ago I created the article Florence Nightingale Medal to which a batch of your recent articles have linked.
I'm something of a redirects enthusiast and have spent a bit of time yesterday adding lots of redirects for these formidable women, from all the variations of their name which seem likely - it picked up a few incoming links, and I ended up having fun disambiguating a clutch of different people to create a dab page at Rebecca Price. I don't really see the point of surname list pages, but they exist so it's good to get women listed on them, so I've added your subjects to those pages, or made a redirect where they are the only surname-holder.
Today I saw Lucy Minnigerode, ended up creating a surname page at Minnigerode, creating the article about her grandad Charles Minnigerode (and fixing a handful of mis-spellings of him in various articles, and linking to him, etc). But I noticed that you'd got a blue limk to Charles Frederick Ernest Minnigerode which was leading outside enwiki to the German article on him.
There is actually a rather useful template {{Interlanguage link}} (which can be abbreviated as {{Ill}} which is hard to read in a san-serif font), which allows you to make a redlink within enwiki and also a link to another wiki. When the enwiki article is created, the red link turns blue and the external link disappears. It's rather neat. In this situation the code would have been {{ill|Charles Frederick Ernest Minnigerode|de|Karl Minnigerode}}. Just to show what it would look like, here's a version with a red link: Charles xyz Minnigerode. I suggest that it's better to use this template than to link directly to the German article. Hope this is helpful.
