The article Pears Institute for the Study of Antisemitism has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (companies) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mohammed Mohiedin Anis

How have I "gone too far" - what does a gallery of car photographs add to this article? They are, as I said in my edit summary, irrelevant. GiantSnowman 07:41, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

As the editor who added the images, they are not irrelevant, in my view. He is best known as a car collector, and there is little doubt that our readers would prefer to see images of some of the types of car he has in his collection, than no images at all. Of course, we would prefer images of him and his actual individual cars, but we have to work with what we have on Commons. Edwardx (talk) 12:24, 20 April 2017 (UTC)

Indication of nationality for Myles Murphy

Greetings, Philafrenzy. Upon further considering your revert of my earlier edit on artist Myles Murphy, it occurred to me that in our shared Anglophone version of Wikipedia, my fellow USA-educated readers are likely to be unfamiliar with Commonwealth-based cultural figures. Only after a second look at the categories did I notice "English artist" where I had written "British." I do believe the designation would be helpful unless the MOS strictly rules it out. Your input is kindly requested at Talk:Myles Murphy#Add nationality to lead paragraph. -- Cheers, Deborahjay (talk) 20:09, 30 April 2017 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Christopher Gibbs.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Christopher Gibbs.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:35, 6 May 2017 (UTC)

Hello Philafrenzy.

You said that the proper name of the cemetery is "Bushey Jewish Cemetery", but a google search: https://www.google.com/#q=%22Bushey+cemetery%22 yields a number of results which do not include "Jewish".

Apart from the cemetery, is there any purpose served by identifying the religious beliefs of this individual?

Regards, Kablammo (talk) 15:23, 26 May 2017 (UTC)

Certainly in identifying his Jewish faith. We routinely mention that sort of information where it is known though it may have been overdone in the article. As for the cemetery, we have Jewish in our list Jewish cemeteries in London and other sources seem to be divided. I believe it is usually known as Bushey Jewish Cemetery but don't feel strongly about that point. Why don't you start the article on the cemetery? Philafrenzy (talk) 15:29, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
And I'm fine with identifying the cemetery by its proper name, whatever that is. I remain concerned about the article mentioning his faith otherwise, especially given the (apparently well-earned) critical tone of the article. Kablammo (talk) 15:53, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't think mentioning he was Jewish is really optional. I removed it from the lead as unnecessary so there are now three uses. If you changed Bushey Jewish Cemetery to Bushey Cemetery there would be one. It is likely, however, that the cemetery article would have to be BJC for disambiguation reasons as there are undoubtedly a number of cemeteries in Bushey. Philafrenzy (talk) 16:20, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
I don't think it is needed. The article on the Kray twins does not disclose their religion (if they had one). Kablammo (talk) 23:28, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
The Kray Twins says "Reggie became a born-again Christian" but says nothing about Ronnie. I imagine we don't say very much because we don't know. The article also says they are of Romany descent thus placing them in an identifiable ethnic group, if not a religion. Its probably best to continue on the article talk page but I don't realistically see how we can not comment on Rachman's faith given that he is buried in a Jewish cemetery. It's simply standard biographical information and doesn't require any special sort of justification. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:44, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
I removed one mention so it is down to two entries in the article and a category. Philafrenzy (talk) 23:50, 26 May 2017 (UTC)
Thank you, that is much better. As you will see I've invited Malik to comment. Regards, Kablammo (talk) 23:07, 27 May 2017 (UTC)

DYK

Hi Philafrenzy: Thanks for reviewing my DYK nomination here. I adjusted the hook by de-linking the American Meat Institute article (diff). This was done to provide more emphasis on the main topic of the DYK nom, and also because the American Meat Institute article is not in the best shape for main page at this time, imo. North America1000 13:30, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

OK, of course, linking it from the main age might have caused it to be improved. I linked ham instead. Why is the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council so unfairly neglected here? Philafrenzy (talk) 13:41, 29 May 2017 (UTC)
All right. However, I de-linked the ham link just now in the hook. If you want to provide alts, that's fine, but I like the hook as I worded it. Also, the product contains no ham, and importantly, "ham" is a very common term, so I don't see a need to link it, as per WP:OVERLINKING. North America1000 13:46, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

Tyburnia - unattributed copying

Please do not attempt to create a new article by copying other editors' work without attribution. See Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. If you want to start a new article based loosely on existing content, please do so in your sandbox or as a Draft until it is fit to be seen as an article, and until it adds something more than the reader would have found in the existing article - this stub could have been deleted as CSD-A10, as duplicating an existing topic. The references you add to an article should be those you have yourself consulted: not those someone else checked in 2013. And yes, I saw the "under construction" template, but it doesn't excuse using other people's work without attribution. Thanks. PamD 09:04, 11 June 2017 (UTC)

Calm yourself, I just forgot to attribute it which I have now done. It is possible of significant expansion. I did consult the sources as they are both live, and added new material myself. Philafrenzy (talk) 09:17, 11 June 2017 (UTC)
You don't actually appear to have attributed the copying as stated - but the text no longer appears to be identical to the previous article. As you consulted the sources, I suggest that you should have updated the "Retrieved" date - otherwise it looks as if you have just recycled someone else's references unread. This query is about your addition of the "lead too long" template to the Timberlake Wertenbaker article. The lead section is one sentence long. Did you mean to add the "lead too short" template? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.50.68.27 (talk) 18:14, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

Yes, thanks. Philafrenzy (talk) 19:10, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

You're an experienced enough editor to know that a "reference" consisting of a Google Books link is inadequate. Please upgrade the refs in this article. Thanks. PamD 08:02, 26 June 2017 (UTC)

St John Gore

Hello. Do you think St John Gore is sufficiently notable please? I cannot tell for sure, although he did publish some catalogues (but not books?) and he has an obituary in The Telegraph (but perhaps in no other newspaper?)... He was Alan Gore's brother. I thought you might be interested in this topic. Thanks!Zigzig20s (talk) 15:11, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

According to The Telegraph he "made a distinguished contribution to the study of European painting; as Historic Buildings Secretary for the National Trust, he laid the foundations of the Trust's reputation as an expert custodian of historic houses." I see no reason to second guess them. Philafrenzy (talk) 18:51, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
Well. That sounds like he was just an employee...Zigzig20s (talk) 20:27, 6 July 2017 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Lin Li (scientist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Snood1205 (talk) 21:46, 6 July 2017 (UTC)
