Please don't undo a nice welcome message on my talk page

Your action was not polite because you removed a welcome on my TP. --104.129.192.105 (talk) 18:25, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Oops...

Sorry about the damage to Christopher Chenery. I had edited the section, and then had to log in, which ended the edit session. I had saved the edited text, and mistakenly re-opened the edit as the whole article. I have since re-inserted the edited text properly. Rich Rostrom (Talk) 12:47, 20 January 2019 (UTC)

When you're tagging pages like that (and any G3/G10 in general), make sure you untick the option for "Notify page creator if possible". Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:38, 23 January 2019 (UTC)

What article do you claim I vandalized? I would like to fix it and show my source. Etm26 (talk) 04:18, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

Mistaken

Hello,

This is the 2nd time today ive gotten a message about some edit I supposedly made. I havent made any edits nor have I ever so it must be a mistake. I dont even like the Winnipeg jets. How can I stop these? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 184.151.190.90 (talk) 04:29, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

184.151.190.90, you are visiting from a shared mobile IP and it may be someone else who used this IP to make the edits at that time (10 months ago from now). If you have an account you can login so you won't see warnings not intended to you. But otherwise you can ignore those old warnings if you did not make the edits. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 05:15, 18 February 2019 (UTC)

Global renamer

Hi, would you consider going for global renamer? We’re trying to get better having users who speak the language of the home wiki and can see if it meets policy to handle requests. This has led to a backlog in Chinese. If you have any questions, let me know. TonyBallioni (talk) 15:25, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi TonyBallioni, thank you for letting me know about this! I actually have some questions about the global renaming process, as well as concerns with applying for this user right. We can discuss them hopefully later today (on IRC). -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 18:03, 23 February 2019 (UTC)

Sora Amamiya

Hello, PlyrStar93. I am administrator of Indonesian Wikipedia. I am pleased with your reverts on the article. Now, I just protected the article for a month. Many thanks for your actions at Indonesian Wikipedia. Hanamanteo (talk) 02:22, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Hi Hanamanteo, glad I could help out! The users I was reverting belong to a cross-wiki LTA called ISECHIKA. He was also globally banned by the Wikimedia Foundation last year. When I see the accounts I check their cross-wiki edits and revert them all. I agree it's a good idea to protect the articles. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 05:09, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

Hurricane Name Changers Alert 2

Can we get someone involved to deal with this guy? He was blocked, yet still managed to create a new account. Do you know any admins that are willing to make an IP block for him? Syntaxlord (talk) 20:07, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

@Syntaxlord: Hi, only checkusers can find the underlying IP addresses of an account. You can ask one of them to see if there are IP blocks possible, however they are strictly governed by the checkuser policy which involves access to non-public data, so they may not necessarily do it. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 20:25, 14 April 2019 (UTC)

Syntax error

Hi, in the last sentence of this Geist Wikipedia article excerpt in the Hegelianism section, is the word “are” meant to be “and”? The [sic] shown here is my own addition. It seems to make sense if it is an “and,” or that the comma after “(“national spirits”)” is a colon, other the sentence makes no grammatical sense and is confusing. Are you the author of this excerpt yourself by the way? Many thanks.

“Geist is a central concept in Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit (Phänomenologie des Geistes). According to Hegel, the Weltgeist ("world spirit") is not an actual object or a transcendental, Godlike thing, but a means of philosophizing about history.[citation needed] Weltgeist is effected in history through the mediation of various Volksgeister ("national spirits"), the great men of history, such as Napoleon, are [sic] the "concrete universal".[citation needed]” Sjacrane (talk) 16:17, 6 May 2019 (UTC)

Problem with common.js

I properly would have to go an admin for this but I tried to move my common.js from my former account to my current account but neither of those are eligible as both of them are protected. HawkAussie (talk) 22:54, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

@HawkAussie: The page cannot be moved by regular users. Just update the page by editing it. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 22:57, 19 May 2019 (UTC)
I would do that if the page wasn't protected because of the fact that it is protected because of the redirect. HawkAussie (talk) 23:19, 19 May 2019 (UTC)

hello :)

Hey, i noticed that you recently responded to my request to my username change [1] and you mentioned that the username '555snowy' was taken. Firstly, I wanted to thank you for noticing my request.

I was wondering if instead of '555snowy', it could be 'mabrikananixi' ?

Also unrelated, but I would like to translate some pages on Wikiepdia into Wahiyani, a modern Eyeri dialect. However, I'm unsure of the process of translating pages into such a language. Any information regarding how to go about the process is much appreciated.

Thanks again! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sydddd5555 (talkcontribs) 22:36, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

@Sydddd5555: "mabrikananixi" appears to be available, but the first letter will have to be upper case due to technical restrictions. I will go ahead and rename your account. I will share some of my thoughts on your second question later. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 23:06, 29 May 2019 (UTC)
@Mabrikananixi: As for translating pages, you will need to post the translated version into the corresponding language's wiki project, which means that language's Wikipedia should exist in the first place. There is a beta tool called "Content Translation" which can be enabled in your preferences, but I generally avoid it for some reasons. You can start from scratch in a sandbox page within your user space, translating the text into your language in your own words. You don't have to complete the translation all at once, but you can save your work and continue later. When you think it's in good shape, you can move that page to the desired title in article (main) namespace. Then, add a note on the translated page's talk page stating there are contents translated from original page with the link so you give proper attribution. If a Wikipedia of your language does not exist, you might want to create the content in Wikimedia Incubator which helps build potential wiki projects, but it can take quite some time before a new project gets approved. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 23:27, 29 May 2019 (UTC)

Methodism

Hello. plystar93 it's me Gordon Kafrushy (talk) 03:51, 6 June 2019 (UTC) I "vandalised" Methodism on accident I tried adding Fanny Cochrane Smith to people because I read something like "Fanny Cochrane Smith was given 300 acres of land so she used up 100 of the acres of land to make a Methodism church and became a Methodist." I then accidentally deleted everything and wrote hi and published it, then I edited it again to add "Hi I accidentally deleted the code" or "Hi I accidentally broke the code" Hoping someone would undo it. Thank you, Gordon Kafrushy (talk) 03:51, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

@Gordon Kafrushy: You can simply find the page history and there is the option to undo your own edit. The edits are already reverted, though. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 03:55, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

A Kid in King Arthur

hi PlyrStar -- about the reversion, that wasn't me. I just got this number this morning, it's a prepay Rogers account for while I am visiting Canada, and I didn't even know there was a Kid in King Arthur's Court topic.

But I amy go look now, since the Mark Twain book was half funny, half infuriating :)

So it wasn't I, but thanks for the note anyhow. Gracias, and happy 4th (or Canada Day, if you are north of the border) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.114.41.74 (talk) 01:38, 29 June 2019 (UTC)

How to comment?

Hi I'm trying to add a comment on the username change page to confirm but I'm not sure how — Preceding unsigned comment added by Psilosyn (talkcontribs) 23:52, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

@Psilosyn: Just go to the page and find the section, and there is a link to edit. Put your comment below mine (just say confirm), then sign with four tildes. But since you are confirming here, I can go ahead and rename your account now, so you don't have to confirm again. Regards. -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 23:55, 8 July 2019 (UTC)

Regarding wiki page of Akbar Nawas

Hello,

My name is Aravind from Chennai City FC, Mr. Akbar Nawas' current football club. He has tasked me with editing his wiki page and I would really appreciate some help with it as I have absolutely no idea how to go about it. I have a copy of his CV with me and am trying to make additions to the clubs he has played for and to the ones he has coached. Would really appreciate any aid you can give me in any form.

Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!
