A tag has been placed on File:Noquebay Lake- Marinette Counties, Wisconsin DNR Lake Map.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Review for "Lake Noquebay" page additions[edit]

Hi Pulkows5 – you’ve done a great job editing the Wikipedia page for Lake Noquebay! Your edits and additions have added a lot of valuable and important information about this lake. I have some suggestions for you to consider as you wrap up your article – these were based on this version of your article.

General comments[edit]
  • You’ve made a lot of great additions, including adding references, important statistics in the infobox, and new sections on climate, plants, fish, environmental concerns, and the history of the lake (to name a few).
  • I thought you also did a great job reorganizing the pre-existing information (from the old Wikipedia page on this lake) into new categories, and then adding more info.
  • You’ve included a lot of links to other Wikipedia pages – this is a very valuable contribution because it increases cross-referencing of articles.
Suggestions[edit]
  • In the lead section, you mention that the lake is “just a few minutes east of Crivitz”. I think this statement would work better if it was expressed as a distance. Further on in the article you say that the lake is 4.83 km from Crivitz, so maybe say instead that the lake is “approximately 5 km east of Crivitz”
  • In the “Origins and History” section, capitalize French.
  • In the “Statistics” section, you mention three other dams located nearby. If they’re all located on Lake Noquebay, then it would be best to state that (rather than saying they’re nearby). If they’re located on other water bodies, then it would be best not to mention them on this page.
  • The last two sentences of the “Water Quality” section need a bit of work. The sentence on the transparency of light lacks context – maybe this would work better if it was incorporated in the previous paragraph? And the last sentence contains three percentages that add up to more than 100%.
  • In the sections “Aquatic Plants” and “Aquatic Fish”, add in links to other Wikipedia pages wherever possible (e.g., algae, bluegill, walleye).
  • In the first sentence of the “Aquatic Fish” section, remove the text “…, done by Senior Fisheries Biologist, Christopher C. Long, data…” and instead insert an in-line citation to the appropriate reference.
  • At the start of the “Maintenance” section, name the non-profit organization (and provide a link to their website, if they have one).
  • It looks as though there’s a link to a bathymetric map in the infobox that isn’t working right now – if you’re able to repair the link, that would be great! The map would be a great addition to the page.
  • My final suggestion is just to do a careful read-through before publishing to catch any small typos or spelling errors.

I hope the above is helpful as you wrap up your Wikipedia assignment! If you have any questions at all about this review, please feel free to get in touch. JoGDelta (talk) 23:44, 2 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
