Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Endorsements in the United Kingdom European Union membership referendum, 2016, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Glasgow Cathcart. Proposed deletion of IEmulator

[edit]

The article IEmulator has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The coverage (references, external links, etc.) does not seem sufficient to justify this article passing Wikipedia:General notability guideline and the more detailed Wikipedia:Notability (software) requirement. If you disagree and deprod this, please explain how it meets them on the talk page here in the form of "This article meets criteria A and B because..." and ping me back through WP:ECHO or by leaving a note at User talk:Piotrus. Thank you.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, RaviC. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Pine Cay Airport, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  1. edit the page
  2. remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Ways to improve List of current heads of government in the UK and dependencies

[edit]

Hi, I'm Domdeparis. RaviC, thanks for creating List of current heads of government in the UK and dependencies!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Interesting and useful article but it does need more sources notably in the lede section to back up the different titles

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Accusation of Sockpuppetry

I've only just seen that, two weeks ago, you placed an accusation on my talk page directly (and falsely) accusing me of sockpuppetry. I invite you to either remove this accusation or request a full investigation as to whether I have ever posted under any account other than mine. I would be happy for either action from you since I can guarantee that, not having ever done it, you won't find any evidence of it either.

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Green Hill Zone in Somari (screenshot).PNG

Thank you for uploading File:Green Hill Zone in Somari (screenshot).PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Notice

The article Odisha Legislative Assembly election, 2019 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Completely speculative unsourced article

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Sunethradevi Pirivena requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://amazinglanka.com/wp/pepiliyana-sunethradevi-pirivena/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. SVG

[edit]

Sure, that will be an useful file in the very remote situation where the exact same result as in the 2016 general election repeats for the next election. It needs to be workable for all elections, not just one. Impru20talk 18:18, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Impru20: It's very easy to add another colour scheme to the legend. There is a tool in Adobe Illustrator and Inkscape called the colour picker that does just that. If that was your concern, you should have asked me. --RaviC (talk) 18:20, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Furthermore, none of the PNG images have a colour legend for Ciudadanos, so they are not "workable for all elections" either. --RaviC (talk) 18:22, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I did. I received no response other than "Sure, I'll have a go at adding the colour schemes", but that was it.
PNG files are much easier to edit than SVG ones for inexperienced users, so in case a colour legend for Cs was needed (note that Cs has not won any provinces in any election as of yet, so this is more of an hypothesis as of now) it will be much easier to add it in a PNG file than in a SVG one. Besides, there is also an issue with Las Palmas and Santa Cruz de Tenerife not being separated into two different provinces when it comes to SVG editing, so that creates a situation where the map is unusable for the Canary Islands. Impru20talk 18:27, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I replied on your talk page. Anyway, the consensus is to use SVG files (and you didn't raise any of the above issues with me when we last spoke). I can make the relevant edits to the SVG file if you're actually open to using it instead of owning the page. --RaviC (talk) 18:32, 22 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

False accusation on General Election 2019 page

[edit]

What makes me prove vandalising? I am just reinstating the section which was written by someone else but removed by you. Vandalism may be removing such section, but as per your opinion reinstating it is. Who shall decide what's right? You are constantly editing the page which looks comfortable for incumbent government. People of India have all rights to know the fact that the acting chairperson of Statistical organisation that resigned has alleged that the government was suppressing the report, Rafale deal, Ram Temple & agrarian distress. please do not remove such portions. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 06jay007 (talkcontribs) 19:34, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

You have been invited more than three times to discuss the section in the talk page, but refuse to do so and instead continue to edit war with multiple editors and accuse them of having a "hidden agenda". If you can't act in a mature manner, the only option will be to take your conduct to an administrator. --RaviC (talk) 10:50, 24 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi RaviC. You converted the licensing of this file from non-free to {{PD-ineligible-USonly}}. If you feel that's really the case, then that's fine; however, you've create conflict between the license and the non-free use rationale which was previously added when the file was licensed as non-free. This is causing the file to be flagged for review for possible violations of WP:NFCC. So, if you really believe this file is "PD-ineligible-USonly", please replace the non-free use rationale with {{Information}}. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:54, 26 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Chowkidar Chor Hai into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. DBigXray 19:17, 31 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comment. If you checked the talk page, you would have seen that the text has been attributed. In the future, I would appreciate if you could observe WP:DTTR. Thanks. --RaviC (talk) 16:17, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Your response above makes it obvious to me that you either failed to read properly or did not understand the policy requirement. In any case let me repeat it again.
Attribution is required for copyright

When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination.

Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia also mentions this in the lead that

The edit summary should provide either a link to the original source or a list of all contributors. Additionally, there are templates that can and should be used for attribution.

I do hope that you are competent enough in english to understand the difference between 'should' vs 'could' and a 'minimum requirement' vs 'good practice'. I will be glad to clarify the difference if it is not clear to you.
Edit summary is a 'minimum requirement', it does not become optional, if you are putting a template at the talk page. (like you did in this case.)
Finally Wikipedia:Reusing Wikipedia content is a Wikipedia policy with legal considerations. while WP:DTTR is a Wikipedia:Essay And I think you have been here long enough to understand the difference between a policy and an essay. --DBigXray 17:40, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
There's a {{copied}} template on the talk page. Furthermore, a little politeness goes a long way. --RaviC (talk) 18:01, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are still expected to mention this explicitly in your edit summary while copying, in the manner that is explained 2 times above. --DBigXray 18:04, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You should not change the comment after it has been responded to, like you did here read WP:REDACTED and follow the steps if you want to edit. You are welcome to add a new line below.--DBigXray 18:10, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Apologies, I didn't notice your reply prior. Thank you for your civility; I hope we can contribute without abrasiveness in the future. --RaviC (talk) 18:11, 2 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
You are welcome. Kindly understand that the purpose of opening this discussion thread was not to template you, but to make you aware of the requirements. An acknowledgement to follow the same was the only thing I was expecting from you. Indeed, I am sure we will work together in future to improve Wikipedia. OSM map template problem

[edit]

Hi, thanks for helping me out. One problem: why is the map white on mobile devices? It works perfectly on my pc but on my phone it just shows a blank space (as can be seen here. For example in the template page the maps show up, is there a parameter that is making it not show up? Thanks, Nehme1499 (talk) 16:01, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, no worries. I'm not sure why that is happening; I think it's a bug with the mobile version of the site. If mobile accessibility is important, you could recreate it in GeoJSON with this website (which seems to work on mobile), and I'll help you to add it to the page. --RaviC (talk) 16:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I tried moving the exact same code to my sandbox and it appears visible on my mobile. However, it doesn't work on the two specific articles I need them on (Lebanese Football League and 2019–20 Lebanese Football League). I tried to remove the code for the general map of Lebanon (maybe it was interfering with the code below) but still nothing. It's likely something very small, could you please take a look at it? I'll try to work on geojson.io in the meantime. Nehme1499 (talk) 21:04, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
That's really strange; I have no idea why that is happening. I'll have another look but probably your best bet is to ask at the help desk. --RaviC (talk) 23:41, 30 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Windows Terminal moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Windows Terminal, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Map of EU Elections in UK 2019

[edit]

Hi RaviC I've been looking at c:File:Map of the European Parliament election (2019) (United Kingdom).svg, and I was wondering how the order of the parties in the key was determined, as to me it looks random. Personally I would put it in alphabetical order as on a ballot paper (noting that on the ballot papers, Nigel Farage's party is "The Brexit Party", and therefore goes under "T"). Also, I've found nowhere the use of the abbreviation TIG-CUK; the shortest name I've seen for them is Change UK, so I suggest changing it to that in the key. Thank you. --TedEdwards 13:47, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there, the two new parties were just added to the top; the order of the others is from the 2014 SVG (which is by the largest party in the election). TIG-CUK was copied as the abbreviation used in the article at the time, I could change it to ChUK, TIG or CUK, all of which are used in the media if you prefer. --RaviC (talk) 14:22, 18 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Unite to Win logo - Jeremy Hunt.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Unite to Win logo - Jeremy Hunt.png.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

ARBIPA Discretionary sanctions notification

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have recently shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Hello. I see that you had been informed about this, but it was quite some time ago. This is nothing but a friendly but cautionary note reiterating its content as you have been editing in this area. Best regards, Fowler&fowler«Talk» 16:23, 10 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Notice

The article Wingly (company) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No claim nor evidence of notability, under WP:NCORP or WP:GNG. Evidence from a quick WP:BEFORE is passing mentions and promotional pushes, and not many of those.

In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Draft:Reform Party (UK), a page you created, has not been edited in 5 months. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace.

If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it.

You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements.

If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13.

Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 01:34, 10 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:31, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft article, Draft:Reform Party (UK)

[edit]

Hello, RaviC. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "Reform Party".

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 22:13, 21 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your reminder of the discretionary sanctions

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.  Bishonen | tålk 14:57, 30 June 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Horace Cutler.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Horace Cutler.jpg.

If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Marchjuly (talk) 21:02, 4 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Burialbecket.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Burialbecket.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 09:00, 19 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
