September 2012[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, your addition of one or more external links to the page The Caliph's House has been reverted.
Your edit here to The Caliph's House was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z2s6VCYdqVY) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. If the external link you inserted or changed was to a media file (e.g. a sound or video file) on an external server, then note that linking to such files may be subject to Wikipedia's copyright policy, as well as other parts of our external links guideline. If the information you linked to is indeed in violation of copyright, then such information should not be linked to. Please consider using our upload facility to upload a suitable media file, or consider linking to the original.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! --XLinkBot (talk) 18:32, 24 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on The Book of the Book, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. August 2013[edit]

Stop icon Your addition has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text, or images borrowed from other websites, or printed material without a verifiable license; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Yunshui  13:03, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright violations[edit]

Having gone through your edit history, I find that you have repeatedly copied and pasted text from other non-free sources into Wikipedia. This is strictly prohibited here. I have deleted, reverted and removed the examples that I have found so far. Further copyright infringements will result in your account being blocked from editing. Yunshui  13:09, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of The Book of the Book[edit]

Hello RoyalTaquito,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged The Book of the Book for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Writ Keeper (WK to move) 13:21, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Stop icon with clock
You have been blocked from editing for a period of six months for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the following text below this notice: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}. However, you should read the guide to appealing blocks first.  Yunshui  13:24, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

{{unblock|reason=Your reason here First of all I wish to apologise for not realizing sooner about the copyright infringement. It was NOT my intention at all to violate any of the rules of Wikipedia, and I do understand now how I should proceed in the future additions from my part. I am no Troll, nor a stupid man that will continue to break the laws of this unique opportunity as Wikipedia is. Thanks for considering the unblocking.}} {{unblock|reason= I do understand the breach of wikipedia policies about copyright, but I am not that stupid to keep on doing once I have been warned. I saw the warning messages once I did a couple of wikipedia entries. Then, you are judging me under wrong assumptions. Please, unblock me so I can show the value of my word.}}

Just to save the reviewing admin some time with regards to the above claim: first warning (with mention of possible block) at 14.03, second warning (with emphasis on a block being implemented on the next violation) 14.09, recreation of page - copied verbatim from the publisher's catalogue listing - at 14.21. RoyalTaquito was warned about copyright, twice, and ten minutes later went right ahead and did the exact same thing again. Given his history of copyright infringements (see also Caravan of Dreams (book) and The Elephant in the Dark) blocking was pretty much the only option. Yunshui  13:06, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

RoyalTaquito (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

The perfect timing and the proof of the warning don´t prove that I flagrantly violated the rules. You are still assuming I read the warnings and messages when I am saying otherwise. I was too focused writing my entries to interrupt. If an apology and a compromise on not breaching future Wikipedia rules is not enough, then I do feel I am being mistakenly and unfairly judged. Besides the clear fact that I was not after any personal benefit with my entries.

Decline reason:

If I understand your argument correctly, you say you were too busy copying other's work onto Wikipedia to bother to read the warnings here, which our notification system would have informed you of, even after the article was deleted? Instead of even trying to figure out why that happened, you simply copied some more copyright violations into Wikipedia? And you think that is a compelling argument to unblock you and you now suddenly perfectly understand the distinction between your own work and just copying someone else? Beeblebrox (talk) 16:54, 29 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Orphaned non-free media (File:The Elephant in the Dark.jpg)[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:The Elephant in the Dark.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Werieth (talk) 18:35, 8 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Eye Spy (novel)[edit]

The article Eye Spy (novel) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Self-published book (Secretum Mundi is Shah's own imprint), fails WP:NBOOK

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Disambiguation link notification for October 6[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Steven Nightingale, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Robert Irwin. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:00, 6 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

April 2017[edit]

Information icon Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

I noticed your recent edit to Idries Shah does not have an edit summary. Please be sure to provide a summary of every edit you make, even if you write only the briefest of summaries. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → check Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary. Thanks! Miniapolis 13:05, 11 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Idries Shah book covers[edit]

Hi, it looks like the book cover images, previously uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, will be okay at Wikipedia now under fair use. Another editor kindly reduced the resolution to comply with low resolution fair use, and a second editor has just flagged the original revision of the images as now orphaned. That means that soon the original revisions will be deleted but the current revisions look safe. Thanks for your work! Regards, Esowteric+Talk 10:51, 13 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Magic Monastery book cover[edit]

Hi, you need to upload the book cover for The Magic Monastery to Wikipedia, not Wikimedia Commons, as it is non-free, fair use. Otherwise it will be deleted for copyright issues. Wikimedia Commons is for free / licenced media. Regards, 08:03, 6 June 2017 (UTC)

Think the version I've just uploaded will be okay. Regards, Esowteric+Talk 13:33, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Idries Shah book covers (revisited)[edit]

Hi, I notice that you've updated a number of the book cover images on Idries Shah book pages. The usual way to do this is to upload small versions of the images to Wikipedia as non-free and fair use.

If you upload images to Wikimedia Commons, they have to be licensed, and you also have to declare, using OTRS, that you are the copyright holder. For full instructions, see: WikiMedia Commons Open-source Ticket Request System (OTRS). If you don't do that, the images will be deleted sooner or later. Safia Shah[edit]

Hi, thanks for your edits to bring the Safia Shah article up-to-date. I notice, however, that you've removed a lot of old material, such as A. Gold, which was placed there to contribute to Safia Shah's notability; you've added a lot of unsourced material in its place (see reliable sources and verifiability); and you also added a number of external links in the main body of text (see WP:ELNO): that's what the External links section is for, and there are more than enough links there already.
