@Gerda Arendt: well. If a page is worthy of mainspace—or can be encouraged to be so—then it most certainly should be; happy to help. For example. Yes, that DYK is a bit curious isn't it? I might wait and see how it pans out; but I think I'll be needing a QPQ soon enough  :) I can kind of see the point though: you know I know nothing about classical music also, so all my edits are under advisement. Having said that, niche topics by their nature are going to have only a small pool of people who will find something automatically interesting; I think the aim with DYK (and that particular criterion) is to draw in the uninterested reader...and turn them into an interested one  :) ——SerialNumber54129 11:22, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

Starting at the end: I invented the restriction in WP:ARBINFOBOX (discussion of decision, look for "start today") as kind of a joke, and then they actually gave me that. Rescinded in 2015, but good practise, any discussion: make your point and walk away. Before: good approach in general, make them interested, and I thought "six operas" - no matter by whom - might do that. The article really might be boring to someone who needs an explanation for what "opera" is, - spare them that. Elsner: could you move that one? I feel I can't having done the update, and the one who sent it to draft hasn't answered. I hate giving our readers a red link, on top saying "was deleted", instead of an article, even if that article is not perfect, only decent. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:59, 15 April 2019 (UTC)

I know a lot about RfA, prbably more than most because I pioneered the biggest ever investigation into it and I've voted on literally 100s of them. One of the problems of being an admin, is that people jump on us for anything they can and just love taking our comments out of context. You said 'extremely unfair'... False accusations

Continuing to do so after having been asked to desist constitutes harassment; low-level harassment, perhaps, but still harassment. WikiCup 2019 May newsletter

The second round of the 2019 WikiCup has now finished. Contestants needed to scored 32 points to advance into round 3. Our top four scorers in round 2 all scored over 400 points and were:

  • Scotland Cas Liber (1210), our winner in 2016, with two featured articles and three DYKs. He also made good use of the bonus points available, more than doubling his score by choosing appropriate articles to work on.
  • Wales Kosack (750), last year's runner up, with an FA, a GA, two FLs, and five DYKs.
  • Adam Cuerden (480), a WikiCup veteran, with 16 featured pictures, mostly restorations.
  • Kingdom of Prussia Zwerg Nase (461), a seasoned competitor, with a FA, a GA and an ITN item.

Other notable performances were put in by Chicago Barkeep49 with six GAs, United States Ceranthor, England Lee Vilenski, and Saskatchewan Canada Hky, each with seven GARs, and Denmark MPJ-DK with a seven item GT.

So far contestants have achieved nine featured articles between them and a splendid 80 good articles. Commendably, 227 GARs have been completed during the course of the 2019 WikiCup, so the backlog of articles awaiting GA review has been reduced as a result of contestants' activities. The judges are pleased with the thorough GARs that are being performed, and have hardly had to reject any. As we enter the third round, remember that any content promoted after the end of round 2 but before the start of round 3 can be claimed in round 3. Remember too that you must claim your points within 14 days of "earning" them.

Hey dude, what is your problem? I mean I know you are English and seem to have a stiff butt hole but come on what kind of whiney child reports a user who spews nothing but facts? I have a question what are your educational credentials? Like I said before the statement on University of Bologna are factually incorrect. Even the Italians would whole heartedly disagree with that statement "University of Bologna being the oldest university in the world". I know this because I been there, and have researched this. There is no academic text book that says that it is the oldest in the world. It is not even on the Guinness World of Record as being the oldest. The oldest existing, and continually operating educational institution in the world is the University of Karueein, founded in 859 AD in Fez, Morocco. The University of Bologna, Italy, was founded in 1088 and is the oldest one in Europe. And that is according to Guinness Book of World Records who research and send a qualified agent to investigate these matters before they put these types of statements in their books. As I said before Thomas.W is wrong. He is putting his own bias opinion into this. He says that those institutions were founded as madrasahs but he is factually wrong because they were degree granting institutions for both religious and non religious sciences that is why Guinness Book of Record recognized it as such so did Encyclopedia Britannica. In fact his comment is laughable to any historian or academic because the word madrasah simply means school in Arabic. That is like me saying Harvard Law School is not a university because it has the word school in it. He has a bias Eurocentric view on history and likes to white wash historical facts. I mean would you like an Oxford professor of history to explain this to you? I was wrong and I withdrew my comment when I misinterpreted Hijiri 88's comments as being prejudiced, which I struck and clarified in my reply, and which they thanked me for. "Hierarchical" is a reference to academic heiriarchy and is not in anyway an accusation. It was also in response to a reply to my own comment. And I f**ked up the rudolf reindeer comment and withdrew it rather promptly. I saw your the post you added and removed at Talk:Lynne DiSanto. I am not involved in any content dispute. Before the edit to restore the content to the pre-edit war version I had never edited the article before. I did not recognize either editor and am not involved with either of them in an admin or editor capacity. I reverted back to the pre-edit war version in the spirit of WP:BRD. @GB fan: Thanks for this; I meant to restore that post with the correct ping (if you notice, I'd fluffed the reply template!). Yes, well, you may be right; but ultimately you edited through protection to make an editorial intervention, one which is down to the protecting administrator to make: WP:PREFER, Protected pages may not be edited except to make changes that are uncontroversial or for which there is clear consensus—clearly not the case, otherwise the protection would have been unnecessary. I admit I don't see much in WP:BRD allowing editing through protection; indeed, it seems to suggest the opposite (Using BRD in volatile situations is discouraged and BRD fails if...the page is protected). In any case, I don't think you were involved, and I don't have many TPWs, so there's no danger of anyone linking it, judgment-wise, to—previous lapses, shall we say  :) Anyway, I hope you're well! @Acroterion: I totally agree, and I respect that you've replied here, many thanks for doing so. For a start, the whole thing was blown slightly out of proportion, I agree; Nyttend seemed to think arbcom was around the corner, and I think we've all had enough of that for the time being. But I must emphasise that if one is going to use words such as "harass", one should ensure that one has one's evidence to hand. Allegations without diffs are aspersions, and—while I'm the first (and often am) to squash VxfC (diff, diff, diff, diff, diff)—we can't avoid having difficult discussions just because they may / will hijack them for their own ends. Of course, they will; it's what they do. But if we closed a conversation every time an LTA involved themselves in our business, our business would soon grind to a halt. I'd certanly agree their assistance was unrequired, although I think that the original "incitement"—as it were—is probably more the responsibility of Materialscientist (edit-warring and rollbacking) and Nyttend (accusations of harassment); without any of that, there would have been nothing to troll. Still, I'm sure it won't happen again.

On a lighter note, Winged Blades of Godric, I see you were unjustly accused of participation of our little ANEW soirée. I imagine that's a result of User:Hell in a Bucket misreading the board (you have a thread somewhat farther down, I see, but of course it's unrelated). It's a shame, but there seems to have been a regular litany of errors today...refactoring this page, misunderstandstanding WP:POLEMIC, with their entire claim ("a useful excercise" notwithstanding) being...summarilly rejected. I say nothing of the repeated ([11], [12]) need to apologize to all and sundry.

Still; all's well that end's well. Now, having resolved the matter at the root of the affaire quotebox, I can remove it. I suppose it's an object lesson in how much more profitable discussion is to refactoring. I imagine such an approach in the first place woould have resulted in much fewer words and time expended and wasted for the same result. All of these analyses and suggestions for atonement just work against denial of recognition. That said, a little explanation goes a long way to unconfuse editors who aren't familiar with this particular troll, whose specialty is the exploitation of superficial plausibility to get everybody arguing with each other. (talk page watcher) An immediate thing that jumps out is The Sentinelese … may be shorter in stature than average humans. During a 2014 circumnavigation of their island, researchers put their height between 5 ft 3 in (1.60 m) and 5 ft 5 in (1.65 m)—this range is actually taller than the average height of Indians (who are statistically one of the shortest populations in the world). The statement is obviously factually correct in that they're below the mean for the planet, but this height range isn't at all atypical for South Asia. ‑ Iridescent 16:49, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

Since 1990s, all contact expeditions have been stopped except for some routine circumnavigations and frankly, there's nothing much to write about. The island, now-a-days, make it to the headlines only in stray cases of illegal intrusions (and subsequent death) like Chau, Raj-Tiwari et al.
Aprior to that, (~1960-1990) there used to be passive-aggressive contact missions (and some thrill-vacations) every year or so, but it was largely the same story. The detailed records of ANSI, log-diaries of the teams et al contain precious little, apart from what's already in the article. I don't believe that any newspaper would have been interested to publish such mundane stuff given that even the incident of first (and only) contact was not reported except in a local newspaper. Even in that span, it was only once/twice that the teams managed to enter the island and record some observations about their lifestyle.
If we go further back by about a century, when British officers (Portman, Temple et al) toured the island and captured them often, I expect to locate coverage across regional dailies (at a minimum) but accessing such old newspapers in India is a tediously difficult job. But FWIW, they frequently went about invading random islands, capturing natives, trying to utilize them for their own purposes and did a variety of allied stuff. So, it might not have been rare enough, to report. I don't have a concrete idea and it's a territory of guess-works. So far, no scholar (incl. Pandya who is a famed academic in these domains) has mentioned any such source, in their bibliography.
I will still note that 2 of the most-used sources over the article are by two highly reputed Indian authors in the field (T.N. Pandit and V. Pandya).∯WBGconverse 08:58, 24 May 2019 (UTC)
