  The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Saturday November 16, 2019 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. The museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely. Asia Art Archive will host a sister event in Hong Kong next week.

Hey all you 79 Watchers of my talk page
I put Bath School disaster up for WP:FAC ->-> Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Bath School disaster/archive1. It would be a big help if those of you who are so inclined would go over the article, pop into that FAC nomination page and give an honest review. Support or Oppose - at this point I just need to know if there's something - refs! images! prose! - that needs fixing according to the Featured article criteria. DragonflySixtyseven mentioned to me that you were looking for help with a template related to one of the coronavirus articles. Not quite my article-genre, but I have done some template work. - DMacks Hey thanks for reaching out. It's a template in 2020 coronavirus pandemic in the United States. I noticed a Warning: Template include size is too large. I really have no idea what that means, might be the Template linked to at the bottom of the article Template:2019–20 coronavirus pandemic? I am concerned because the pandemic articles are very important to a lot of people and get a HUGE amount of traffic. I thought that someone should know - before the template causes the article to crash or whatever. Shearonink (talk) 04:25, 16 March 2020 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:Template limits is technically outdated I think, but does have the right ideas...there is a limit to the template-call-depth (one template calling another calling another...) and amount of transcluded content (how many times templates are called and the size of their results overall). The effect is that at some point the parser just stops processing templates, so the reader sees the template name instead of whatever the result of the template was supposed to have been. I think the "cite" family of templates is pretty intensive and this article uses a lot of them. The two solutions are to "subst" them (which is lousy from an editing perspective) or split the article (to reduce the template load in any one of them).
- Editorially, I think the article is way too long and including "full detail" about too many subtopics. Looking at WP:SIZESPLIT, the article's readable prose size of 61 kB is in the "Probably should be divided" range, and if we want to be accessible to lots of readers, we shouldn't overwhelm them (or their internet connection...all told, the page size is about 1.5 mB). That info page also mentions template-limits as a reason for splitting. DMacks (talk) 13:34, 16 March 2020 (UTC)

- lol. *Nothing*. I'm not sure I have any other articles that I have done most of the heavy-lifting on... I did have a List that I put up for FL status fairly recently but that didn't go well and I have no plans to try again with it anytime soon. I've been trying to update the stats for a couple of the US states' COVID-19 articles and that & life in these strange times have been keeping me busy enough. I appreciate your work on the article. However, by locking it down for an hour every afternoon and doing all the updates yourself, you’re taking the fun out of editing it for everyone else. Perhaps you can keep a copy of the county table in your sandbox and edit it freely, without interruption, then just copy-paste it in? I look forward to updating at least the graphs, but can’t because it’s locked down and you’ve done it all. If I wanted to just view stats, I would go to the TNDOH page. Thanks. - CAWylie Thanks, I guess? Well... The only reason I took on updating the various charts in some of the state articles is at the time no one else was doing it and in many cases no one else is doing it. I'll wait until later in the day, swing by an article or two and no one else has stepped up to the plate to correct the outdated info. People come along and maybe update just their county or only change the total cases or adjust the number of total deaths in the infobox and then they leave all the other individual entities and stats alone and then all those other stats become outdated. - I just like to know the "why" of things. And I feel a responsibility to be as precise as possible with any COVID-19 stats that I touch. It's important what we do here on these articles, especially important because of this pandemic, it's important that people get as accurate statistics as possible however WP conveys them to our readers. Heh, I am not that particular & precise in other areas of my life but here? On Wikipedia? Yeah, here I am kind of a PITA stickler. Thank you for being willing to listen to my concerns. And I hope the new format at the template doesn’t throw you; basically the semi-colons became the separators (and the added recoveries), and it seems easier to just drop in numbers, instead of adjusting widths every other day. - I modeled it after New York State’s. The old one can still be used, the new one is just simpler, imo. Nothing with these templates is “required”, except for the basic format to get them to work. Wyliepedia @ 06:30, 11 April 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks for your kind offer...I think leave it as is for now. I'm practically the only one who updates the stats - main + the individual counties/cities in there on a regular basis...maybe sometime later. It will take me a while to learn the ins&outs of the new cases/recoveries/deaths bar chart on the COVID-19 Tennessee article. I would rather that the default be that the entire progress of COVID-19 be present when a reader brings up the article but that functionality isn't present. - Hey, Wikipedia is a collaborative effort, and should certainly be user-friendly. Greetings, User:Shearonink. Thank you for the various recent thank yous for edits or Talk page posts I have recently made.
I find it amazing, however, that a former Wikipedia Editor of the Week, recipient of the Featured Article Medal, the Random Act of Kindness Barnstar, the Articles of Creation Barnstar, at least five Original Barnstars, a couple Barnstars of Diligence, the Helping Hand Barnstar, a couple of Tireless Contributor Barnstars, the Working Wikipedia Barnstar, The AFC Backlog Buster Barnstar, The Special Barnstar, The GA barnstar, The Reviewer's Barnstar, a GA Cup, The Barnstar of Diplomacy, and a Kitten, somehow isn't worthy of making an edit to the John Adams article.
Wow. What kind of qualifications does it require?
Oh, I'm sorry. I've already been admonished about that: Credentials are irrelevant at Wikipedia. To hell with all that noise above and what it represents, or anything real world like it. And why it was even created here at Wikipedia. The rankest new IP editor is qualified to edit any article.
Gee, I need to sit down. I'm confused. I guess bullying and wars of attrition must rule then.
But thanks anyway for trying to help. Your instincts were true. Though you've proven by that roster of awards above a history of being unable to collaborate or function effectively in the Wikipedia universe. Oh, no. You've proven the opposite. Wow.

This is the 2nd time I have tried to get the List to Featured List status. This time one issue (that has never been mentioned before!) have been raised and I was hoping you might be able to help out:
- the deaths and manner of deaths of the following cyclists are bare-bones:

- Also, if you look over the FLC, you'll see that the publication Sport-Album der Rad-Welt has been mentioned. I thought you might want to comment at the FLC delineating what the "Sport-Album" is. Perhaps you could also add a Note to the List stating that the "Sport-Album" is "a reference work on cycling published between [year] & [year]" or something similar w/a reference that backs up that statement. Regarding this, if you look at the other contributions by the author of those pages, particularly those that mention organizations and the "classroom" one then do a bit of off-wiki digging, there is good reason to think that someone may have given him bad information, perhaps maliciously. - Maybe he's a Nice Guy who's being taken advantage of or even an undisclosed Paid editor or an internet troll/vandal/jokester. All we have to go by is the evidence and that evidence is his contributions (and yes, I've done my share of off-WP looking about, I tried to tell him maybe he should change his account-name...) At this point all I care about is that it looks like private individuals are somehow being outed on this platform. Regarding this, based on my memory of the content of now-deleted articles, I think the main issue we are having is a person with severe WP:CIR/maturity issues who, despite editing in good faith, doesn't understand that he doesn't get to make the rules, gets frustrated as a result, and allows us to see his frustration.
To put put it another way, I don't doubt the sincerity of his original draft submissions, but his lack of "CIR" and maturity mean this is not a good place for him to spend his time. It will only lead to frustration for everyone.  You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community and Asia Art Archive for our fourth annual (and first virtual) Asia Art Archive in America: Art and Feminism Edit-a-thon! Organized by Asia Art Archive in America and NaPupila in collaboration with Asia Art Archive in Hong Kong and supported by Wikimedia NYC, this event brings together participants to discuss, create, share, and improve Wikipedia articles about women and non-binary artists. We will be partially coordinating with Art+Feminism and all of the International Women's Day and Women's History Month campaigns. Register and join the virtual event!

 You are invited to join the Wikimedia NYC community for our monthly "WikiWednesday" evening salon (7-8pm) and knowledge-sharing workshop. To join the meeting from your computer or smartphone, just visit this link. More information about how to connect is available on the meetup page. We look forward to seeing local Wikimedians, but would also like to invite folks from the greater New York metropolitan area (and beyond!) who might not typically be able to join us in person! As this WikiWednesday coincides with Saint Patrick's Day, we will have a guest speaker from Wikimedia Community Ireland, about Irish-language Wikipedia, the efforts of the community in Ireland, and personal work on historical biographies with a special Irish-New York connection. This month will also include a discussion of Black WikiHistory Month in February and WikiWomen's History Month and Art+Feminism in March, and of course the great work that is being done in these topical areas throughout the year. If there's a project you'd like to share or a question you'd like answered, just let us know by adding it to the agenda or the talk page.

- Doug Coldwell It seems to me that one of the major issues for the reviewer - in terms of overall work & time-spent - will probably be making sure that the refs are consistent in their style etc. ("Refs should be complete, i.e. publisher, date, access date, website etc.") I will take that on at some point tomorrow - checking alllll the refs and adjusting them when necessary - so you can leave the refs alone and concentrate on other items. - Sorry about that. I'm definitely through now. Will let you handle it from here. I'll let you notify The Rambling Man whenever you are all Done. You are doing great work - thanks! The last few Good Articles I got were done by the reviewer The Rambling Man. During the last GA drive they had (October 2020) I made 34 Good Articles during the 31 day month.
