Issue with Source

[edit]

Hello, you mention in this edit that the "News/editorial part is reliable", however, Wikipedia's reliable sources page states that Know Your Meme is generally unreliable. Can you explain what you ment by this? TheManInTheBlackHat (Talk) 16:26, 2 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@TheManInTheBlackHat: The reliable source page talks about Know Your Meme entries, which are user-generated (example). The source cited is not an entry, but a news article written by a senior editor, and is not user-generated. Skyshifter talk 01:34, 3 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Twelves

[edit]

Quando (e se) o artigo de Twelves se tornar um bom artigo, acho que valeria a pena sugerir outra curiosidade para o WP:DYK. Creio que seja possível. RodRabelo7 (talk) 21:48, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, que pena. Não sabia desse detalhe. RodRabelo7 (talk) 22:57, 13 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The August 2023 Good Article Nominations Backlog Drive is at the halfway mark, and has seen incredible progress, dropping the backlog from 638 to 359 unreviewed articles -- a 43.7% reduction in only fifteen days! But we still have over two weeks to go, and there are plenty of articles left to review:

  • We've gone from 14 nominations 270+ days old and 65 nominations 180+ days old to 2 and 0 respectively. No more articles will reach 270+ status during the drive, and only three more will reach 180+ if unreviewed, so this is your last chance to get the higher age bonuses!
  • We still have plenty of articles in the 90+ range, but the list is shrinking fast.
  • Some articles need new reviewers, either because they're officially on second opinion or because the original reviews were deleted or invalidated. You can help prevent these articles from waiting longer!
  • While there are starting to be clear favourites for the Content Review Medal of Merit, the field is still very open. A late entrant can still pull an upset to get the most reviews in the drive!

And remember: if you've done reviews, you should log them at the backlog drive page for points, so they can be tracked towards your awards at the end.

Thanks for signing up for the drive, and I hope to see you reviewing! Vaticidalprophet 02:01, 15 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The article Twelves you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Twelves for comments about the article, and Talk:Twelves/GA1 for the nomination. Well done! If the article has never appeared on the Main Page as a "Did you know" item, and has not appeared within the last year either as "Today's featured article", or as a bold link under "In the news" or in the "On this day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear at DYK. Regarding the translated quotes in Twelves

[edit]

I think I might have found a way to resolve the issue. In a recent GA, Sanctioned Suicide, the quote is translated with an {{efn}} at the end to transcribe the original quote. Maybe it can work on this article, but since there are many quotes, you may have to paraphrase some to lower the amount of quotes in the article. @Spinixter: sorry, I forgot to respond. I still would like to know what policy or recommendation says that this must be done. Skyshifter talk 17:26, 18 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

On 18 September 2023, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Bomba Patch, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the name of the video game mod series Bomba Patch was inspired by éclairs? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Bomba Patch. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Bomba Patch), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Autopatrolled granted

[edit]

Hi Skyshifter, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the autopatrolled user right to your account. This means that pages you create will automatically be marked as 'reviewed', and no longer appear in the new pages feed. Autopatrolled is assigned to prolific creators of articles, where those articles do not require further review, and may have been requested on your behalf by someone else. It doesn't affect how you edit; it is used only to manage the workload of new page patrollers.

Since the articles you create will no longer be systematically reviewed by other editors, it is important that you maintain the high standard you have achieved so far in all your future creations. Please also try to remember to add relevant WikiProject templates, stub tags, categories, and incoming links to them, if you aren't already in the habit; user scripts such as Rater and StubSorter can help with this. As you have already shown that you have a strong grasp of Wikipedia's core content policies, you might also consider volunteering to become a new page patroller yourself, helping to uphold the project's standards and encourage other good faith article writers.

Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Schwede66 18:38, 24 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

KYM

[edit]

From what I can find, even the news entries for KYM are unreliable. See this archive. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:09, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Blaze Wolf: I think the best thing here would be to open another discussion at WP:RSP. I don't think the case at The Amazing Digital Circus can be compared to the one you cited, as it was being used for extremely serious claims in a BLP, and the author apparently didn't have any credentials at all. TADC is an entertainment subject, non-BLP, and the author at least has worked for IGN before. I feel like KYM staff articles would at least be considered situational, usable for entertainment, non-BLP/non-controversial claims, in my opinion. Skyshifter talk 14:16, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While I do understand, I'm mainly looking at the statement "I don't think that even KYM's staff-written articles have the reputation for fact-checking and accuracy required by WP:RS". Now if this isn't a "staff-written article" then I'd be willing to at least discuss the general reliability of the news articles on KYM. Regardless the source does nothing for the notability of the show since it fails WP:SIGCOV. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:20, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Also I think you mean WP:RSN and not WP:RSP. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:22, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: Yes, I linked the wrong page. I will open a discussion there, I think it's the best option here to remove all doubts. Skyshifter talk 14:23, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Don't worry I did the exact same thing last night. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:25, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf: I saw it. But I want to open a discussion only about KYM. I've used in other articles too, such as Summoning Salt. Skyshifter talk 14:26, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I wasn't referring to that, I was meaning I has referred to it as WP:RSP rather than WP:RSN last night on the Discord server. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:28, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Blaze Wolf:, ah, I'm sorry, I thought you were reffering to WP:RSN#Sources on The Amazing Digital Circus. But yeah, I'm still not used to the shortcuts :p also I didn't know there was a Discord server? Skyshifter talk 14:31, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Nah you're good. And yeah there is, see WP:DISCORD. ― Blaze WolfTalkblaze__wolf 14:34, 3 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The Editor's Barnstar
Por seu trabalho em Death of Ana Clara Benevides. Todo o contexto de omissão e descaso por trás dessa morte, inclusive vindo de uma artista que de “jovenzinha inocente” nada tem, é por si só já horrível. About your GA review of Nurture (album)

[edit]

Hey Skyshifter, it's been a couple of days since you checked in at the GA review page, during which time I've addressed all of your comments; is there any update on that front? I sincerely hope that there are no hard feelings between us after the quick-fail and subsequent content dispute, but I understand if you're not in the right headspace at the moment to conduct a review for one of my GANs. Let me know either way! TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 00:30, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@TechnoSquirrel69: no hard feelings at all! I agree that some content there could need adjusting; just unsure to what extent. I've posted it to WP:3O yesterday, so hopefully we can get another opinion soon. In any case I'll probably open a PR before another GAN, as my long-term plan is to nominate it to FA.
Regarding Nurture, I actually tend to delay some of my reviews and I'm sorry for that. More comments should be coming very soon. I've skimmed through the article and it should be just minor prose adjustments. Skyshiftertalk 01:11, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your response! I did see your request on 3O as well as the Wikimedia Discord, I hope we can get a response on that as well. No worries about the GA review; I'm in no rush with it, but just wanted to check in to see how it was coming along. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 01:50, 15 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@TechnoSquirrel69: Updates: I'm finally catching up on Nurture's GAN. I'm probably finished with the Background section and comments on the next sections should come very soon. Regarding Virtual Self, we got a comment from a user who saw it at 3O. I've added more secondary sources to "Background" accordingly. Since they said the article could be renominated, I've done so following these changes. Skyshiftertalk 23:08, 16 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Hey Skyshifter, a quick note about the header style that you use in your reviews: I'd recommend that you use fifth-level headers (=====) instead of semicolons per MOS:PSEUDOHEAD, as this makes pages less accessible for people using screen readers. I've switched them over at Talk:Nurture (album)/GA1, but thought I'd let you know for future reference. TechnoSquirrel69 (sigh) 06:15, 19 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
