Regarding succession box formatting

Just a note. When creating or expanding succession boxes, please do not use |-. If a break is needed, please use {{s-break}} instead. However, in my experience, all the United States Judges article succession boxes seem to do just fine without them. Thanks. Safiel (talk) 03:40, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

  • @Safiel:: So you're saying the succession boxes don't need a break at all; just put the next office right below another in succession?
  • Yes. You should not need to use a break at all. BTW, your ping didn't work, I happened to come by to see if you had replied. You have to sign your post for ping to work. Safiel (talk) 04:41, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

Template:Neilgorsuchopinions

Yes, it's fine to recreate it as long as it's in keeping with what's done for other justices. Deb (talk) 07:04, 24 June 2017 (UTC) Hi. Please see the subsequent discussion here: User talk:Corkythehornetfan#Neil Gorsuch. Can you fix this by creating further articles? Deb (talk) 12:11, 25 June 2017 (UTC)

  • @Deb: So is the objection the aren't articles relating to Gorsuch's 2016 term opinions? Is it that Gorsuch didn't write enough opinions? The template in my mind, wouldn't change cause it still includes his opinions for the 2016 term regardless. Where else is the template to be included other than the Justice's article (i.e. Neil Gorsuch) or the article relating to his opinions for that term, (i.e.2016 term United States Supreme Court opinions of Neil Gorsuch)? I don't see the other Justice templates being used elsewhere....Am I missing something? Once a new term starts (ex. 2017 term starts October 2, 2017) then you include that term in the template, once there are written opinions, but you can't do that until they exist, otherwise that would go against WP:CRYSTAL, wouldn't it? That's where I'm lost. Snickers2686 (talk) 20:29, 25 June 2017 (UTC)
I see your point, that's why I didn't delete the template. However, I also see Corky's point. I'm really not familiar with the US judicial system and I don't feel able to come down on one side or the other, but I'm guessing there could be other potential articles out there waiting to be written? Just a heads up

Evidently, a new batch of Trump judicial nominations is coming on Thursday or Friday. One of those, Tripp Self, was mentioned in the Georgia press and I went ahead an created his article. The mans actual name is Tilman Eugene Self III, but almost all the press articles reference him as Tripp Self, so I went with that title. So, anyhow, at least that one article is knocked out already. Naruto v. Slater

Based on your edit, I'm thinking you may be following this case. If you're an attorney and can enjoy the level of minutae they get into, you may enjoy watching the oral argument: Naruto, et al. v. Slater, et al., no. 16-15469 (9th Cir. July 12, 2017). Oral argument. (audio;video) (now in the External links). TJRC (talk) 00:25, 14 July 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer Newsletter

Hello Snickers2686, thank you for your efforts reviewing new pages!

Backlog update:

  • The new page backlog is currently at 18,511 pages. We have worked hard to decrease from over 22,000, but more hard work is needed! Please consider reviewing even just a few pages a a day.
  • Some editors are committing to work specifically on patrolling new pages on 15 July. If you have not reviewed new pages in a while, this might be a good time to be involved. Please remember that quality of patrolling is more important than quantity, that the speedy deletion criteria should be followed strictly, and that ovetagging for minor issues should be avoided.

Technology update:

  • Several requests have been put into Phabractor to increase usability of the New Pages Feed and the Page Curation toolbar. For more details or to suggest improvements go to Wikipedia:Page Curation/Suggested improvements
  • The tutorial has been updated to include links to the following useful userscripts. If you were not aware of them, they could be useful in your efforts reviewing new pages:

Speedy deletion declined: Mariska Setiawan

Hello Snickers2686. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mariska Setiawan, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: collaborating with a notable composer indicates significance. Thank you. SoWhy 20:47, 18 July 2017 (UTC)

Re: Robert Boochever categorization

I can only assume that you're using a script that's causing you to be blind to it. That's the AGF version; obviously, if you have to ask, you didn't bother to look first. Category:Alaska lawyers has six subcats, one of which is Category:Alaska Supreme Court justices, which already includes Boochever. I didn't find the page link offhand, but categorization policy/guidelines make it clear that placing an article in two or three consecutive levels of the tree is generally discouraged, even though people do it all the time anyway. Hope this helps. RadioKAOS / Talk to me, Billy / Transmissions 05:48, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

  • @RadioKAOS: Thanks for the information, even though it was a bit condescending...Snickers2686 (talk) 05:51, 24 July 2017 (UTC)

Zephyr Headwear

Hello! I see that you've added a COI tag to the Zephyr Headwear page. There was previously a COI tag on the page, but the issue was addressed by a 3rd party (Justin15w) who made changes to the page and removed the tag. Was there a specific reason you added it again? Feel free to edit the page as you see fit. Thanks and have a great day! Pwgormley (talk) 23:46, 31 July 2017 (UTC)
