Welcome!

Hello, Stephanie Bowman, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one of your contributions does not conform to Wikipedia's Neutral Point of View policy (NPOV). Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations that have been stated in print or on reputable websites or other forms of media.

There's a page about the NPOV policy that has tips on how to effectively write about disparate points of view without compromising the NPOV status of the article as a whole. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{Help me}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. It looks like you are getting into a lot if trouble here in the WP community, I really reccomend a good new user like you to not go to toxic places like WP:AN, have you tried adoption or asking questions at the Teahouse?? If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Stephanie Bowman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://www.cnn.com/2013/08/09/tech/wikipedia-jimmy-wales-conference. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If it is not obvious why I removed the text from your User page please see CSD G12 or ask me here or on my own talk page. Summaries, Pre-viewing et al

[edit]

Edit Summaries

[edit]

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. 220 of Borg

Referencing & NPOV

[edit]
  1. In this case your edit to Westgate shopping mall shooting (click here) also messed up another reference. It looks like you pasted the LaTimes URL in two places. Please see Referencing for beginners
  2. You did not give an Edit Summary, which is rather important. (see "Edit Summaries" above)
  3. Furthermore you stated "The shopping center is owned by Israelis. There terrorists claim that they were attacked by chemical weapons but this is not believable." Neither of these statements (in bold) are supported by the source you provided.
  4. "This is not believable" appears to be your own opinion which you are not allowed to place in articles in Wikipedia. Please see Neutral point of view aka WP:NPOV.
  5. You have inserted this or similar text (here) twice now, and it has been removed twice, most recently, click here. If you find this happening you need to take a look at why. Please see SOAP

You are of course welcome to continue to edit Wikipedia, but please take a look at the links in the 'Welcome' you were given at the top of the page, such as Wikipedia:Five pillars and realise that there are 'rules' and 'guidelines' to follow. Only warning

[edit]

Read my comments at the topic you opened at WP:ANI. This is your only warning. If you persist in your disruptive editing, including attacking other editors, adding your own comments to an article that are irrelevant to the article itself, or any other disruptive edits, you risk being blocked.--Bbb23 (talk) 05:32, 11 July 2014 (UTC) −You are being extremely aggressive. What happened was a good faith a articlettempt to write a new article. Admins then serially, without discussion, deleted the article within minutes, either trying to create drama or being so sloppy after seeing the airline name. They have done a did service. By pointing this out, it is not an attack. Calling them an asshole would, but I make no such accusation.[reply]

Jet Naked Airlines

[edit]

Hi Stephanie! The problem you are running into is that Wikipedia won't generally accept incomplete articles into the main article space until they are ready. You seem to be moving a bit fast - it is a valid article for a topic, and it would be great to have it on Wikipedia, but it needs a bit more development first. If you like, I'm very happy to move what you wrote to your sandbox, and I'll do what I can to help get the article ready. It might not be suitable in the end, but if we both work on it we should be able to find out and give it a real shot. And if it works out, we can move it back into an article once we are happy with the text. - Bilby (talk) 05:43, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The end result of today is that I am worn out. Any reasonable wikipedian would conclude that this fight shouldn't have happened. If it didn't, a good, but short, article would already be done.

Thanks you for showing that there is at least one sensible person in wp, you. I do not agree with you completely , but you have a general flavor of being sensible

I understand the frustration - working on something and having it deleted so quickly is never a good experience. If you do want to work on it with some help, just let me know - I think we will need an article on Jet Naked (if nothing else they have a memorable name) and I'd like to do it in a way that gives you credit for getting it started. - Bilby (talk) 05:52, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

AYou should be an admin or even arbitrator good admin would restore it and then easily turn it in a stub, keep the references and form my quicklydone phrases into a few sentences. But if I do it, some admin might think "hot damn, I have an excuse to accuse them of disruption and block" So while credit would be nice, I will accept the fact that collective destruction has occurred today. This is really bad. Some WP admins have really lost their way.

I'm stuck at an event tonight, but when I get back I'll see if I can do just what you suggest - we should be able to establish it enough to be a well sourced stub. I'll let you know if I have any luck. I haven't looked into what sources are available (it would be much easier if they were already up and running), so it may not be possible, but I'd like to give it a shot. At worst we'll have something that we can use when they start operating. - Bilby (talk) 06:03, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You should be an admin even arbitrator

I am an admin, which is why I can help - I can restore the deleted page and work on it with you. But I'd never be foolish enough to be an arbitrator - too difficult a job for me. :) Anyway, I'll do what I can to help, as I'm very glad that you started the article, and it would be good to try and improve it. - Bilby (talk) 06:08, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Stephanie,
I've undeleted a revision of "Jet Naked Airlines" and moved it into your "userspace" here. This is the revision without the commentary added in later versions. I would be happy to help you with it.

Just as some advice: on Wikipedia, it's best do things slowly and calmly.

Yesterday I wrote a ten-sentence stub about a controversial Australian painter. It took me six hours - that's over half an hour per sentence. (The reasons I went so slowly included avoiding Biographies of living people issues and also letting other people why the article should not be deleted.)
Very few people outside Australia would have heard of that person. Very few people in Australia would have heard of the person. If had been speedily deleted, it would not have been a emergency. It would not have been about "bad admins" and so on. If I'd gone about making those sort of accusations, it wouldn't have helped me one tiny bit. Because we are humans - even the admins - it would have hindered my case to act in that way.

Does this make sense to you? --Shirt58 (talk) 12:06, 11 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

However, talk pages are meant to be a record of a discussion; deleting or editing legitimate comments, as you did at Talk:Malaysia Airlines Flight 17, is considered bad practice, even if you meant well. Even making spelling and grammatical corrections in others' comments is generally frowned upon, as it tends to irritate the users whose comments you are correcting.
