- Good on you for starting a new section. That was exactly the right thing to do. Re: your diff, be careful about using blockquote-necessitating quotes from other texts. It isn't like an academic paper, where you drop in chunks of other texts into your argumentation. Wikipedia generally frowns on it, due to WP:NOR and also for Copyright reasons. I think yours will be okay, but it wouldn't be a bad thing to go back and render it as a paraphrase, or at the very least, see if there is any of that para that could be edited down.--Theredproject (talk) 02:50, 26 February 2014 (UTC)

Article Assignment

- Hi Slashme, sorry for the delay in responding. Been a crazy few days. Here are hi res images by VGrigas (WMF): commons:Category:Print_Wikipedia. Yeah, the Reddit AMA was sleepy for the three hours I was in there, and then when I left it seems to have gone off the rails. They didn't get that I haven't actually printed all 7600 volumes. Thank you for contributing to the grant request for training Wikipedia admins to be more aware of sexism! This grant has been approved in pilot form, and the Ada Initiative is running an Ally Skills Workshop at Wikimania 2015. This workshop will focus on teaching specific skills and techniques directly relevant to Wikipedia admins and editors, and in particular will teach people about the psychology of trolls. The workshop will be on Thursday July 16 from 2pm to 5pm in Don Diego 3.
If you are attending Wikimania, you are invited to apply to the Ally Skills Workshop! Space is limited and we may not be able to accept all applications, so apply now. More information, including a link to the application form, is here:

Hi, I've been reading about the Regina session problems on AFD and Wikipedia talk:Meetup/ArtAndFeminism. Most of the participants of the event have not edited since, but I decided to look around and I was able to contact one who gave me some information about the event and the articles created there - see here in case you want to get in touch. Their article was moved to userspace at Draft:Erin Gee (New Media Artist) - I'm happy to give some input into it but thought I should let you know as I believe you organise these events. - Thanks @Blythwood:. Yes, I am one of the organizers of the overall WP:A+F campaign, though we leave each event to the local organizer. We are aware that there were problems in Regina, and we are actively trying to reach the local organizer to debrief, so we can learn what happened, and improve in the future. This texture is helpful, and provides more info than we previously had. We provide pretty extensive training materials, and one of the things we want to find out is whether they used our materials, or followed another plan. Given that we had well over 125 events on all six inhabited continents, we're doing pretty well if we only have one event with problems; that said, we want to do whatever we can to improve in the future.--Theredproject (talk) 20:15, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

On Saturday April 30, 2016, in conjunction with a global campaign, the Guggenheim will host its fourth Wikipedia edit-a-thon — or, #guggathon — to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of modern and contemporary artists from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. The Guggenheim aims to further the goals of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative, and build on the model of campaigns like the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Women in Architecture, Wikipedia Asian Month, and Art+Feminism. New and experienced editors are welcome. On Sunday, October 16, Wikimedia NYC will host a multimedia tutorial, workshop, and hackathon focused on Wikimedia Commons and the work processes for cultural multimedia wiki-projects. The CommonsLab is the concluding "upload party" to the Wikipedia @ Open House New York Weekend photo scavenger hunt, and an accompanying Wikimedia Commons multimedia hackathon. The event will take the form of a modified unconference, with sessions for photographers/creatives, editors/writers and hackers/software folks!

 Join us for a full Saturday of social Wikipedia editing at the Museum of Modern Art (drop-in any time!), during which we will create, update, and improve Wikipedia articles pertaining to the lives and works of Latin American artists. The WikiArte (Wiki Arte y Cultura Latinoamerica) edit-a-thon is a global campaign to improve Wikipedia's coverage of Latin American arts and culture and to counter geocultural systemic bias on Wikipedia. Featuring an opening Artists' Panel at 10am, with Sol Aramendi, Sharon Lee De La Cruz, and Marisa Morán Jahn, to be moderated by Rocío Aranda-Alvarado, curator at El Museo del Barrio. The Museum of Modern Art and Fundacion Cisneros/Colección Patricia Phelps de Cisneros are uniting with international allies to focus on the lives and works of Latin American artists, architects and designers. With keystone events scheduled for October 22 in New York City and other cities throughout the month (Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Caracas, & others), the campaign aims to further similar goals to Art+Feminism. All are invited, with no specialized knowledge of the subject or Wikipedia editing experience required. Introductory training on the basics of Wikipedia editing will be given throughout the edit-a-thon. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

On Saturday December 3, 2016, in conjunction with a global campaign, the Guggenheim will host its fifth Wikipedia edit-a-thon—or, #guggathon—to enhance Wikipedia's coverage of modern and contemporary artists from Greater China. The event will cap off Wikipedia Asian Month, an online campaign dedicated to augmenting Asian content on Wikipedia throughout November. New and experienced editors are welcome. The event will include a training session for participants who are new to Wikipedia, and Wikipedia specialists will be on hand to provide basic instruction and editing support. Editors are invited to view the exhibition Tales of Our Time following the event. The Guggenheim aims to raise awareness of the artists featured in the Tales of Our Time exhibition supported by The Robert H. N. Ho Family Foundation Chinese Art Initiative, and build on the model of campaigns like the Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Women in Architecture, Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Guggenheim: Contemporary Art of the Middle East and North Africa, and Art+Feminism.

There will be childcare, snacks, multiple trainings and panel discussions. People of all gender identities and expressions welcomed and encouraged to attend.  On the last Sunday of every month, the Boardroom at Ace Hotel New York hosts Action Equals History — a unique opportunity for New Yorkers to learn hands-on in a technology training/workshop session about the mechanics, practices and benefits of Wikipedia and the Wikimedia projects. This is an opportunity for all to gather, share and work collectively towards a more robust account of history. For this month, and following on the recent Art+Feminism campaign, we'll focus on building better edit-a-thon tools for a variety of different thematic campaigns, and user-testing them with the community. Towards a goal of advancing these tools for wider use with diverse local groups.

Theredproject I'm sorry you couldn't vote for Porpentine's page, it's a matter of rules actually. Yes, I can see and feel the gender gap issue, since arguments for deletion of Porpentine's page are not relevant: the artist fits all the notability criteria, but there's an unfounded opposition, by some editors, who support their opinion saying simply they believe is not relevant (not following Wikipedia rules about how to support good and inclusive discussions), and also making reference to their personal opinion about the project (off topic discussion).  The Wikipedia Asian Month Edit-a-thon @ The Met will be the Metropolitan Museum of Art's second edit-a-thon, hosted on Sunday November 19, 2017 in the Bonnie Sacerdote Classroom, Ruth and Harold D. Uris Center for Education (81st Street entrance) at The Met Fifth Avenue in New York City. Following the first Met edit-a-thon in May 2017, the museum is excited to work with Wikipedia Asian Month for the potential to seed new articles about Asian artworks, artwork types, and art traditions, from any part of Asia. These can be illustrated with thousands of its recently-released images of public domain artworks available for Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons from the museum’s collection spanning 5,000 years of art. The event is an opportunity for Wikimedia communities to engage The Met's diverse Asian collections onsite and remotely.
Attendees should bring their own laptops and power cords. Light snacks, drinks and cake will be provided. We also welcome remote participation for the global online Wikipedia Asian Art Month, running November 1-30. Time discipline I added a paragraph on Glennie and Thrift under the section, "Other Views of Time Discipline." Overall, the article lacked references, but this section seemed the most incomplete regarding content as it only cited one critic. Lessig has been a proponent of the Remix culture since the early 2000s. [25] In his 2008 book Remix, [26] [27] he presents Remix culture as a cultural practice preferable to and distinct from piracy. Lessig further articulates Remix Culture as intrinsic to technology and the Internet. Remix Culture is therefore an amalgam of practice, creativity, "read/write" culture, and the hybrid economy.
According to Lessig, the problem with this [Remix culture] is when it is at odds with an overly stringent US copyright law. He has compared this to the failure of Prohibition, both in its ineffectiveness and in its tendency to normalize criminal behavior. On Katherine Hayles and How We Became Posthuman

Here is our diff. We edited one of the key concepts of Hayles--"embodiment and materiality." We agreed that there should be more explanations regarding "the posthuman subjectivity" and/as it relates to the concept of "embodiment." First, although "virtuality" is significant in developing and understanding Hayles's argument, the word was missing on the page. So we contextualized the argument by introducing the word "virtuality" and how it relates to the posthuman subject. Second, we added the differentiation between the concept of "the body" and "embodiment" and explained Hayles examined how various science fiction novels portray a shift in the conception of information.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

One of my pages (Michael Demers) has been tagged for deletion due to copyright issues -- the content on the wiki is similar to that on LinkedIn, but on the wiki all info was taken (and cited) from print material. If anything, the LinkedIn page is not citing properly where its info was taken from. If all material on the wiki is cited, there shouldn't be an issue if another page somewhere is not citing theirs (why the assumption that LinkedIn is the original source when citation stating otherwise exists?). Going back in time
Happy to help. Let's illustrate with a randomly chosen page ... let's say "Theredproject". As I look at its history, I choose this version from 2008. I click "Edit". Wikipedia warns me "You are editing an old revision of this page. If you publish it, any changes made since then will be removed. You may wish to edit the current revision instead." I smile at but am not dissuaded by this warning, write an edit summary (perhaps "We were all even better-looking just one decade ago"?) and click "Publish changes". (Well, I thought it better to skip that last stage.)
(I'm logged in with my superpowers, and amn't utterly sure that I can do this without them. Try it. I think it should work for you.)

User:Theredproject/sandbox/EVC
I've gone through User:Theredproject/sandbox/EVC: all the green checks are permanent grants, and all the yellow ones have been switched over to event coordinator for 90 days, and told how to apply it after discussion on the EVC talk page. I did not notify the people on the second list as they were already coming up on expiry, and I didn't want to possibly confuse them: my change just lengthened the existing expiration for ACC when converting to EVC to be in August (all of them were expiring between 4 days and a month from now).
There were a few people I had already removed the user permission from before you made the request, and I think it's probably easiest for them to request it individually rather than to grant for 3 months and explain again. One of them was confused by the process, and I think playing around with user rights twice in a short time has potential to confuse people who are less active. I hope this all makes sense.
