Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Just because he was born in South Ruislip, Middlesex, United Kingdom, doesn't make him British. To qualify, he would have to fit one of the following two categories:

1. lex soli: By birth in the United Kingdom to a parent who is a British citizen at the time of the birth, or to a parent who is settled in the United Kingdom
2. lex sanguinis: By descent if one of the parents is a British citizen otherwise than by descent (for example by birth, adoption, registration or naturalisation in the United Kingdom).

Neither is asserted in the NASA bio. He could have been born to tourists or expats temporarily residing in the UK. More info at British nationality law. Toddst1 (talk) 23:30, 19 October 2010 (UTC)

Oh my! Seems like I stirred up a real hornets' nest here. I agree wholly and totally with what another user has written in the discussion, being "We are an encyclopedia for the general public, not only for those knowledgable about heraldry. If John Q Sixpack looks at an picture which he's told is the coat of arms of Theodore Roosevelt, how is he supposed to know that only the helmet and the roses and the motto and so on are actually the coat of arms? He sees the American flag, and the other embellishments, and he goes away with the firm idea that Theodore Roosevelt's coat of arms has the American flag in it [...] we have misrepresented a piece of information to him by including elements that are not actually part of the coat of arms [but] we have an obligation to our readers to provide an accurate representation of the blazon [...] Isn't our purpose to provide accurate information?" and that, I think, is also a good summary of Wikipedia's principles. I cannot see why the information added to the above article is unsourced. I spent a long time writing about Kilmun as burial place of the Dukes of Argyll, and all information there comes with references. It's not for us to apply a technical label since that is OR not NPOV and the October 1915 gig is called an action in James, E. A. (1924). A Record of the Battles and Engagements of the British Armies in France and Flanders 1914–1918 (London Stamp Exchange 1990 ed.). Aldershot: Gale & Polden. ISBN 0-948130-18-0. Oh, that seems to be a can of worms here! My take on things would be to (1) rename the 1915 article Action of Hohenzollern Redoubt (1915) and include a paragraph discussing that there are different labels attached to it in literature, (2) rename the 1916 article Attacks on the Hohenzollern Redoubt 1916 and describe that the article is about a group of attacks in March. Damned if you do, damned if you don't ;O) Attacks is also a technical term (see Other engagements) There are Affairs, Attacks, Actions and Battles in the Nomeclature Committee Report. Of course if we follow the British usage we can be criticised for Anglocentric bias, unless there's a source for French and German terms, hence the alternative foreign titles in some leads.... I had a look at the talk page of Loos 1915 last night and realised that there had been a conversation about the articles late last year, which you might find helpful. Tunneling companies UK

You and another user started making articles on the British tunneling companies. I'm assessing the backlog and realized that many of them were not as notable as others. Wondering if we could compile all of them in a list, and have separate articles on the companies where there is info to use. most of the articles had the same text with a few minor changes. I think a nice chart would suffice for those, and a list would be more useful that an entire slew of start-class articles, with a B article periodically. What do you think? Roger thought it would be good. I couldn't tell how wrapped up you were in Ozone's issues. Hello, thanks for your comment. I've got a lot of information on the Tunnelling Companies which I hope to put online at some time, alas I'm too busy at the moment. The beauty of having an individual article per Tunnelling Company is that it is relatively easy to add additional information to individual unit histories as such info becomes available. I have turned the article you created into a redirect. Hagley Park refers to the dear park. The Hall, stables, church and cricket ground are not in the park. The estate is usually referred to as Hagley Hall (as are most estates eg Blenheim Palace). In case of Trewan Hall and the Vivians, I split the articles because there was awesome detail about a very important family, except that the article said little about the building itself. Thanks for the WWI tunnel warfare articles

Many thanks for the splendid articles on mines in World War I: Mines on the first day of the Somme, Mines in the Battle of Messines (1917), and Mines on the Italian Front (World War I). I noticed the latter when it was added to this automated search which I had set up recently (hoping to find and encourage areas of WWI editing). Can I ask if there are plans for an overview article on tunnel warfare in World War I, that would fit at the head of Category:Tunnel warfare in World War I? Maybe Tunnel warfare#World War I is enough? I was also looking at World War I to see if mining or these tunnel mines are mentioned and couldn't find anything. With WWI being such a vast topic area, I suspect people have to go to individual areas to find links to the articles. But would like to see more links leading people to these articles (it is difficult to tell which incoming links are from templates or from running text within an article). At least you read the bugger! Since you've been going through the 3rd Ypres pages, I think I should mention that there's a WP somewhere about not putting pics, maps etc on both sides of the text, hence some of my edits of your edits. I prefer such items on the right margin only but other people disagree and there's some layout convention, about the subject of the photo pointing towards the text. If squaddies are moving left to right, the pic should be on the left (which means I'd rather not use the pic at all).... The definite article the seems to me to be misplaced with Flandern I Stellung et al. because it's a title but again that seems more like my aesthetic preference than a WP. We write the prose we write and for ages I've been trying to be as laconic as possible. I think I'm getting the hang of it, because I tend to draft sentences in my head now rather than write them and revise them every time I look at the article. The Wikiedit I save has as few adjectives and pronouns as possible but I still find that I commit solecisms like serpentine sentences and wayward commas. Hooge

The OH has it separate from Mount Sorrel so I was thinking about a page and stumbled on Hooge in World War I so I've added a bit of narrative. Good question... When I started Hooge in World War I, I did it mainly to avoid filling Hooge, Ypres with too much detail on World War I and to allow it to exist as a location article. If you think that the underground sections of Hooge in World War I should be combined with the other events there, I have no objection as long as no detail gets lost in the process.
