Ania Malinowska moved to draftspace[edit]

An article you recently created, Ania Malinowska, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent and secondary sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. bonadea contributions talk 08:29, 31 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Most of the sources are primary. The "Biography" section is entirely unsourced (where does the information about her date of birth or where she grew up come from, for instance?), and it looks like the section "Cultural criticism" almost entirely cites her own publications – the Pearce citation might be a review, but there is not enough information in the citation to let the reader know where it's from. Listing an author's most important works is usually relevant, but using them as sources is only appropriate for basic facts such as year of publication. The section also reads like an attempt to promote her work; it is the kind of text that would be appropriate in a presentation of a keynote speaker at a conference, or an author bio in a book, but nt in an encyclopedia article.

Have a look at this information about the notability and sourcing criteria for articles about living people, and these criteria for academics. Regards, --bonadea contributions talk 09:38, 31 January 2022 (UTC) Many thanks for the guidance, bonadea - I'll work to make the modifications that you've suggested. The vast majority of the biography information was obtained from Malinowska's academic publication, "Data Dating" cited in the article. I'll work to identify additional independent sources, and once I have it shaped up I'll resubmit it accordingly. Wikibaker (talk) 05:50, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Your draft of Ania Malinowska[edit]

Thanks, Wikibaker, for your work on this biography. As you can see, it is not easy for new contributors to write about people they consider to be highly notable. The main problem is that most of your references are to what we refer to as primary sources, that is sources that are directly related to the subject. To establish the notability of the subject of a biography, Wikipedia relies first and foremost on secondary, independent sources such as coverage of their achievements by other authors in newspapers, journals and published books, as well as reports of award ceremonies, and in the case of published writers, critical assessments of their works. You can find more advice in the Essays listed on WikiProject Women in Red, in particular our Ten Simple Rules. If you intend to continue writing biographies of women, I would encourage you to join the project by registering at Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/New members. In any case, please let me know if you have been able to follow up on my suggestions. I would be happy to offer advice on an updated version of the article and let you know whether I think it is ready to be accepted as a Wikipedia article. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 09:58, 19 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ipigott FANTASTIC. I will absoLUTELY take you up on your offer of advising my updated article that I will be crafting, and I will also register with the Women in Red Project as you suggest.
Thanks so much for sharing your feedback, and thank you in advance for providing counsel on the revised version of my article that will be forthcoming. Wikibaker (talk) 03:10, 20 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Full citations[edit]

Hi @Wikibaker: How goes it? I see your using a lot of bare urls which are destructive. Please take a look at WP:REFB which is a small tutorial on how to create full citations. Bare urls are effectively useless and don't last. Full citations are better. scope_creepTalk 08:21, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Scope creep Fantastic. I'll make those tweaks accordingly. Any other suggestions for me to be able to get my article published? I've heard that Wikipedia is focused on featuring more women in the sciences, so I would think my article would be helpful in that regard. Wikibaker (talk) 09:31, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
She is definently notable, it just needs more high quality book review references. Give me a ping when your've completed the references update and added book review refs. scope_creepTalk 13:52, 3 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
