Wrong Interwiki on Catholic University of Leuven to nl[edit]

Hi I have noticed there was an incorrect link from Catholic University of Leuven to a dutch article (nl:Centrum voor menselijke erfelijkheid,Centre for human genetics). I tried to repair the links, but your bot "fixed" them faster than my bot could remove them. - Foxie001 (talk) 15:24, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Okay I will fix it. — Tanvir | Talk ] 15:34, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Done with fixing. Notify me again if there are further problems with my bot again. :) — Tanvir | Talk ] 16:19, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Your bot reverted your own fix. - Foxie001 (talk) 16:56, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, I see, that's because maybe mistakenly I left the link in any of the article. :S I will fix that again tomorrow. I am busy at the moment. I hope you are okay with this? — Tanvir | Talk ] 17:01, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
As long as it gets fixed. - Foxie001 (talk) 17:41, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
It went wrong again (see here) so I put again a temporary nobots on the page. Take your time to fix it, there's no hurry as long as it doesn't affect any other articles :-) - Sincerely, Kthoelen (talk) 18:50, 30 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong interwiki on dsbwp: Kategorija:Spiwarje[edit]

Hello. I just remowed your edit on dsb:Kategorija:Spiwarje, because it 's wrong. The topic is singer, not spyware. Please remowe it from the linked pages. Greetings --Tlustulimu (talk) 11:46, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

IW of en:Side[edit]

Hi.

These last days WikitanvirBot insists on adding ht:Bò and simple:Side to en:Side, pt:Sida (cidade) and so on. That is wrong, because the HT and SIMPLE articles aren't about the antique greek-roman city in nowadays Turkey. Can you please correct that behaviour? Regards, congratulations for you great work with IW's. --pt:Stegop talk 18:53, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Fixed. Thanks! — Tanvir | Talk ] 19:14, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your bot keeps adding this to all the wrong pages across multiple Wikipedias. Please stop! Every time I correct the problem, your bot puts the incorrect links back. Please remove the links and restore the corrected versions on all the wikis where this has happened. --EncycloPetey (talk) 21:23, 26 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, your bots keeps adding wrong links for English, French and Polish into that article. That German article is about a mayor like position in Germany, however the English, French and Polish links go to the list of mayors for Copenhagen. I appreciate that Copenhagen is a nice city, but has nothing to do in this article. --194.193.183.253 (talk) 12:09, 30 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Kazakh Wikipedia: article deletion[edit]

Hi there! I am afraid I couldn't confirm copyright violation you indicated here GaiJin (talk) 16:21, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I followed the your link, but I am afraid I still could not confirm any copyright violation. The web page is about Kazakhstan Border troops, and the wiki article is about one of generals from these troops, so there might be some overlap of certain phrases. Anyway, I am removing the delete template if you don't mind. GaiJin (talk) 16:39, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Category[edit]

Hi, i have two requests:

  1. would you please support categories interwikis? i done it by -start:category:! but as you know your bot is universal and automatic
  2. would you please scan en.wiki from ! to end ?many articles and categories they have one side interwiki in en.wiki but they don't have any interwikis in fa.wiki.

fa-"Categories"[edit]

Hello. Please exclude fa-Wikipedia-Categories from your your bot-runs, e.g. here. They are empty (and there's a lof of them, in de-wiki introduced by a certain Rezabot without flag) and it is practically impossible to delete them manually if they are restored within minutes. Thanks. --92.227.36.158 (talk) 14:56, 12 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, they aren't empty categories at this moment we adding some categories with interwiki after that with some specific bots we are adding categories to articles. please don't remove our interwiki i promise in this month we will fill all of themReza1615 (talk) 02:46, 13 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Tagging articles on Wikisource[edit]

Hi, Thanks for tagging Buy home with bad credit on enWS. Can I suggest that for obvious cases like this that you use {{tl:sdelete}} rather than {{tl:delete}}? The difference is that delete needs a discussion where as sdelete can be speedied (like csd here. Have fun, Beeswaxcandle (talk) 21:42, 26 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I tag those kind of pages as an act of cross-wiki vandalism fighting work, and I do that with a script. The script uses {{delete}} to tag such kind of pages, which is the common for all wikis. Tagging with {{sdelete}} would be a manual thing, and will take little more time. But I will try to tag that with {{sdelete}} if I remember. Thanks for informing me! — Tanvir | Talk ] 00:35, 27 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of History of Montenegrins for deletion[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article History of Montenegrins is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/History of Montenegrins until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on good quality evidence, and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article.. Dmitrij D. Czarkoff (talk) 02:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Statistics of Mingrelian Wikipedia[edit]

Dear Wikitanvir,

Recently, you posted statistics of Mingrelian wikipedia. I have some question on this wikipeida:

1. Why the number of active users is -1, when actually, there are more than 10 active users, who managed to increase the wiki substentially. I guess, now the among the small wikipedias, Mingrelian is the fastest growing one.

2. On the main page of wikipedia, Mingrelian wiki is mentioned among the 100+ wikis. Actually, it should be among the 1000 +. Do you know how to correct this?

3. The number of images uploaded in the Mingrelian Wiki, according to statistical data is zero. I have very nice pictures to upload and I want to upload them on Mingrelian wiki. But regrettably, such uploads (to my knowledge) are only made from wikipedia commons. Can you please let me know how can I upload the file so that it will count towards the Mingrelian wikipedia.

Thank you in advance for your efforts --Demythicizator (talk) 19:31, 30 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hello!
That statistics on my user page gets the numbers automatically with the help of magic works.
I have no clue why it is showing -1 for for active users. I will try to find out the answer and if I know then I will let you know. :)
You can propose changes about www.wikipedia.org page here. I see someone updated that page yesterday, so Mingrelian Wikipedia is in 1000+ section. \o/
You don't need to worry about that 0 in file box. Actually it is very good practice that you upload all your images on Wikimedia Commons, and we always encourage people to do so. Some big Wikipedia do not allow uploading non-free images, such as see the statistics of Spanish Wikipedia. They got a 0 for their file list, but that does not matter. It does not prove anything negative, Actually it is quite satisfactory to know that you welcome free images more and avoid the use of non-free images. :)

Your bot should not add removed or changed interwiki-links. The logical thing would be to "spread the change" (like other bots I have seen until now) and remove/change the interwiki-links on the other wikis. Instead your bot changes the article back to the incorrect old version.

Request for Interview Regarding Wikipedia Bots[edit]

GreetingsWikitanvir-

My name is Randall Livingstone, and I am a graduate student at the University of Oregon, currently collecting data for my dissertation on Wikipedia editors who create and use bots and assisted editing tools, as well as editors involved in the initial and/or ongoing creation of bot policies on Wikipedia. As a member of the bot community and bot operator, I would very much like to interview you for the project at a time and in a method that is most convenient for you (Gchat, another IM client, Skype, email, telephone, etc.). I am completely flexible and can work with your schedule. The interview will take approximately 45-60 minutes.

My dissertation project has been approved both by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) at the University of Oregon, and by the Research Committee at the Wikimedia Foundation. You can find more information on the project on my meta page.

Please let me know if you have any questions, and I look forward to hearing from you to set up a time to chat. Thank you very much.

A cup of coffee for you![edit]

I just read your Signpost interview - Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2012-05-21/News and notes. What you are doing is critical to the future of Bengali-speaking peoples and the fate of India, Bangladesh, and all their trading partners. I hope that others adopt your vision and I hope that your project finds the success you imagine at the limits of your imagination. Thank you for doing what you do.

Is there any extant guide for how users of Indic scripts can begin to edit Wikipedia? I would like to be able to provide links to friends when they ask me about this. What about for Hindi and Bengali - can you show me introductory guides which help English speakers who know those languages to most efficiently start to edit in those languages on Wikipedia?

Will you be at Wikimania in DC in July? Can I meet you there? Blue Rasberry (talk) 18:00, 22 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, thank you very much for coming by and appreciating your interest in this. Can you tell me what kind of guides are you talking about? In what language? Is it writing help (about the language and script) or something else? I think we have, at least from Wikimedia Bangladesh we have a PDF booklet in Bangla. I would like to give those to you. And yes, I am joining Wikimania hopefully so of course we can meet there! I am still working on my visa though. But I see you are enlisted as an interested local in Wikimania Takes Manhattan, and I am joining that event too. So hopefully I will see you in someplace in New York. Show me around your city. ;-) — T. 06:59, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

As you said in your interview, there are a lot of people in India who do not know how to use their computers in any language other than English, even though now there are easier ways to type in Indic scripts than there were only a few years ago. I am talking about writing help. Could you send me that PDF booklet in Bangla? Do you also have one for Hindi? Do you also have those for English? I really would like to see them with instructions in English but made for the purpose of helping people setup their computers to use other Indic languages on Wikipedia.
Yes, I would love to show you around Manhattan and I hope you can come here. I have had Indian friends apply for United States visas and it was always a huge problem for them. Are you getting good advice about how to apply for your visa? I wish you the best of luck because I know it can be a complicated a stressful process. Feel free to email me if you want to talk about any of this. Blue Rasberry (talk) 10:49, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I think I need to clear few things first. First of all, I am not an Indian. I am a citizen of Bangladesh which is completely a sovereign state, India is just one of our neighbor states and nothing more. And I live in Dhaka, the capital. So please do not confuse me as an Indian. :-) Bangla is the only official language in Bangladesh, and the majority Bangla speaking people live here which is around 160 million. In India, it is one of two official languages of the state of West Bengal and that one has around 80 million speakers, half of ours. ;-)
Actually, that situation I said in my interview applies to my country in my knowledge. I am not sure about Indian parts, but I guess that applies there too more or less. But as Indic languages are written in non-roman alphabets, so writing system is always an issue. Softwares are not really a big deal here. Everyone can can download suitable ones from internet, but one has to know the keyboard layout to type. English has only 26 letters, compared to that Bangla has, well, if you count the conjunct and diacritic characters, the total number of could be around 400. So it is not that easy to type like English you see. :-) Here are some more examples to our characters. I uploaded the images of Bangla alphabets, the links are this, this, and this.
About the PDF booklets, I will try to upload that on Commons soon will give you the link. Sadly, that does not include a writing help, that actually gives answers to those who do not know about Wikipedia and how such things work. But I can prepare a writing and display help. I just need to find some time to do that. And I have nothing about Hindi, I do not even understand that language. But I am sure there are plenty in internet about Hindi. Also if you would like to have support for Avro Keyboard, as I said in the interview, the most popular Bangla Keyboard layout in internet ever, I can get you links where you can find documentation about that software and that is in English!
And at last, always feel free to ask me any questions you might have! Hope to see you in Manhattan! Btw, my visa interview went fine, although it is not sure and pending processing. It is also damn problematic for Bangladeshi citizens too, but I hope to get it. :-) — T. 14:44, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I brought up India because so much of India's future and Bangladesh's future are tied and I think the relationship is a bit closer than just being a neighbor state. I have not yet been to Dhaka but I am hoping to go early next year and perhaps I could talk to you about that at Wikimania.
I do not know the situation everywhere in South Asia but in Hindi-speaking India it is more common to find people who can type in English or Roman script than who can type in Hindi or Devanagari. The reason for this is the number of characters, and one of the fixes for this is using transliteration programs wherein people type in Roman script and then software converts that to the local script by matching the sounds as they would be in English to the sounds of the local language. In this way, people who type in English never have to learn to type in the keyboard layout of their local language, and anyway many of them have been typing their language in Roman script for some time. It sounds like you are recommending that people learn a keyboard layout based on the local language, and I think that is great also and would like to be able to recommend your technique to other Bengali speakers.
Send me the Bangla book anyway. I sometimes work with people in Kolkata and West Bengal has has much stake in Bengali Wikipedia as Bangladesh, and collectively all Bengali speakers in the world can make a powerful demand for more access to information in their own language.
Good luck in your visa processing and I also hope you get your visa. I would appreciate hearing from you when you hear the result of your visa application. Blue Rasberry (talk) 16:47, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Interwiki[edit]

Hello.

Do you mind to fix interwiki in this Indonesian Wikipedia's article because the page was moved? In addition, there's also change in the category, from Makhluk dalam legenda to Makhluk mitologis.

Brazilian city problem[edit]

Please would you withdraw the name of Bahia Santa Inês front of the name of the state of Maranhão Brazil. This is generating a big conflict here, there is much discussion because we are not Bahian and yes, Maranhão, with great pride, not wanting to disparage the state of Bahia. grateful now, and hope that this mistake can undo what happened.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Henriqueveiga16 (talkcontribs) 20:44, 17 January 2013

. শুভ নববর্ষ (Happy Bengali New Year)
