Block message:
Autoblocked because your IP address was recently used by "Bob the keeper". The reason given for Bob the keeper's block is: "Vandalism-only account".
Decline reason: You are clearly not unrelated editors. Whether you personally have control of both accounts or you know each other, it's not hugely relevant here. Both are covered under WP:SOCK. I have blocked this account indefinitely. Yamla (talk) 13:59, 18 November 2021 (UTC)
- I was am not a sockpuppet. I have a network with a proxy and therefore someone else on my network created an account and got the IP of the proxy blocked. I do know the person who made the account that vandalised and did try to stop him but when I appealed Yamla blocked me for sockpuppeting. I can prove that the emails on the account are different and I can prove that they were created on different types of devices. I will not get involved in things like this again and I am sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Sockpuppet
Hi, a sockpuppet of MariaJaydHicky is editing on Indigo (Chris Brown album), two days ago he edited the same page as 'Fayoncé', he got caught and blocked, yesterday he is did the same exact edit on the page as 'Deejeeta', nobody is solving the problem, otherwise a user, named Loriendrew, is putting the edit of a sock back. What do you think? What a savior and genius (talk) 20:22, 4 January 2022 (UTC)

Ok I am sorry but you should agree that Stephen Humble is not even a cricketer so if I change his name there's nothing wrong with it , if it was some international cricketer I would have agreed . 115.96.156.25 (talk) 16:57, 9 January 2022 (UTC)
Redwarn edits
Hey Zippybonzo. It seems that you are editing a bit too quickly with Redwarn and are reverting edits that you shouldn't be. For example, the edit you made here where you reverted an anonymous user's edit and said it was a "likely factually error" was not a factual error. By looking at the article's infobox, you can see his mother is listed as Hannah Harrison Ludwell. Additionally, by looking at that article's infobox, you can see that Richard Henry Lee is listed as one of her children.
Another example was the edit that I made to Judicial Procedures Reform Bill of 1937 that you reverted. I actually discussed the article with User:Wtmitchell which you can find on his talk page. Had you taken the time to look that over, you would have seen that it was a good edit.
Please have a little more care when you use Redwarn by putting some scrutiny in edits that do not have prima facie evidence of vandalism. Thanks. :) 165.234.252.204 (talk) 20:39, 12 January 2022 (UTC)
Warm showers.
Hi
All my edits were explained in the original summaries. What you're restoring is a ridiculous list of non notable names pulled from a tax return and a load of nonsense in the lead of the article about the webost of a website. It's all nonsense.Unbh (talk) 17:46, 14 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Unbh Hi, if you have a problem with the content on an article please feel free to discuss it with the community on the article talk page, please stop edit warring however as it is unconstructive. I am more than happy to help find you edits that you may be better suited for but edit warring can result in a ban or block. Zippy (talk) 17:49, 14 January 2022 (UTC)

Why are you reverting my edits to Travancore royal family page? I had given the explanation in the edit summary. The IP is a promoter of thiyya caste. There he made edits to look like the army of travancore is from malabar with tiyyas in it but the author mentioned nothing concerning to malabar only but the Ezhavas (Chogas).

Hi,
I sincerely apologize for the accident. The edit was open and my 7yrs old started clicking everywhere without knowing anything. I did revert back to the changes as nothing was intentional. Sorry about the inconvenience. --Solidtech1 (talk) 20:24, 25 January 2022 (UTC)

Wrong Teahouse Answers
Hello, if I may ask, are you an official Teahouse host? Not that it matters, Infact before I officially became one I had helped out there on numerous occasions, I’m afraid this answer is not backed by policy, is factually inaccurate but more troubling is you are invariably teaching that editor to REFBOMB, might I suggest that you familiarize yourself with policy prior attempting to answer questions there? It is imperative the apt answers are given out especially to newer editors. Thank you for your time. Celestina007 (talk) 22:49, 29 January 2022 (UTC)
- @Celestina007 Sorry, I am generally just answering a few questions, next time I will look at the policies and look at what is backed by policy and what is not before answering questions, I tend not to focus on article creation. Anyway, I will put it behind me and I will read the policy before answering questions next time, Just to reiterate, I apologise for the inconvenience and I will not let it happen again… Zippybonzo (talk) 07:10, 30 January 2022 (UTC)
Summary from the Source
I went and summarized the source in my own words:
- Science shows that the Earth formed around 4.5 billion years ago. The organisms that live on Earth have completely changed its air (atmosphere); this is called a biosphere. 71% of Earth's surface is covered in salt water oceans. Earth is the only place in the Solar System where liquid water is known to exist at present. The other 29% is made of rocky land in the shape of continents and islands.
- Earth interacts with other objects in the Solar System, particularly the Sun and the Moon. The Earth orbits or goes around the Sun roughly once every 365.25 days. One spin is called a day and one orbit around the Sun is called a year. This is why there are 365 days in a year, but a leap day is added once every 4 years.
It'd be great if someone could add that for me, I have a rocket to catch! Bye for now ;) --GaiaGirl86 (talk)

- Hi, @Mr.anjaan I strongly discourage writing about yourself in user space, especially as that namespace is for Wikipedia editors to learn about you. The reason it won’t show in google is the user space namespace doesn’t get crawled by google. Zippybonzo (talk) 07:06, 9 March 2022 (UTC)

Question from Johnraymassoud (19:09, 10 March 2022)
Hi Zippybonzo,
Glad to know I have a mentor who can help me out. I was wondering if it was possible for me to add a recent article I created -- Legality of 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine -- added to the template at the bottom of the main page for the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine. I don't have editing privileges for the main page yet, so it may not be possible for me to do so (I also do not know how to edit templates). Thanks!

- @Johnraymassoud, hi, Let me take a look at your article and if it looks good I will add it to the page. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 20:15, 10 March 2022 (UTC)

Question from Anyadee23 (18:28, 12 March 2022)
Hi I am so glad to get some help. I’d like to make the page for Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality less biased. I tried to make some edits but another user denied them and reverted to the previous copy. Much of what is written in article is written as a bias not as stating a fact and it could be written in a way that is more to the point and less denigrating. I wonder how to get these changes made so they will stick? The president of the school is deceased and the school is closed. It is important that the school is reflected in a more accurate less negatively biased way. Thanks for your help. Anya. --Anyadee23 (talk) 18:28, 12 March 2022 (UTC)
- @Anyadee23: Hi Anya, I would suggest discussing the matter on the article talk page, don’t be afraid to be bold when editing but make sure to get consensus on the page, can I also ask if you have any connections with the school, E.G, you went to it or taught there, if the answer is yes, do not edit the school page as you have a conflict of interest and you should discuss any improvements on the article talk page. Thanks, Zippybonzo (talk) 06:20, 13 March 2022 (UTC)

Hi not too sure what you mean by the acronym COI below Not exactly notable - once featured in the Telegraphs announcements. Seems more like a COI to me than a notable person.

Question from Actionstammering (20:53, 7 April 2022)
Hi, nice of you to do this. I have never used WikiPedia as a creator, but am looking to make a page for the charity I work for. It's Action for Stammering Children in the UK. Thanks :)
Connor --Actionstammering (talk) 20:53, 7 April 2022 (UTC)
- @Actionstammering Hi, Welcome to Wikipedia. I appreciate your enthusiasm to create a Wikipedia page for the charity you work for but we generally recommend that you don’t write about a company you work for or have connections to as it is deemed a conflict of interest - if you are paid by the charity and you create the page and don’t disclose that you are paid by the charity you may be blocked. You may want to see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest as it may provide other information that you may find helpful. Kind regards, Zippybonzo | talk 08:58, 8 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, i wanted to know what vandalism is. --JukaCachu (talk) 21:37, 16 April 2022 (UTC)
- @JukaCachu Hi JukaCachu, vandalism is making edits that are not constructive to the project, e.g if the Wikipedia page for Wikipedia had adfneiaifnidj added to it, that would be classified as vandalism. If you are interested in counter vandalism, you may find it useful to visit these two pages as well: Wikipedia:Counter-Vandalism Unit and Wikipedia:Vandalism. You declined Draft:Devlet III Giray because "it is not adequately supported by reliable sources." Is there any evidence that Giray-Ilmi is not reliable? Copy edit notes
I've reviewed your copy edit of National security of China. Some notes:
- You changed
China is also a major arms buyer; most of China's purchases consist of naval and air force equipment from Russia.
→China is also a major arms buyer, most of China's purchases consist of naval and air force equipment from Russia.
I think the semicolon was correct, as neither clause is dependent upon the other. However, I feel that you were going in the right direction as this sentence could be simplified. I changed it to: China is also a major arms buyer, mainly purchasing naval and air force equipment from Russia. the North Sea Fleet has seven, the East Sea Fleet eight, and the South Sea Fleet 16.
For the numbers, this follows the MOS:SPELL09 guideline. However, it looks a little weird. Since the reader would be comparing the figures seven, eight and 16, it's best to have them in one format (MOS:NUMNOTES). Since 16 can be spelled out in one word, it's probably best to state it as 'sixteen'.Beijing published an “East Turkistan Terrorist List,”
We generally place punctuation outside of the quotation marks (MOS:QUOTE). Also those are curly double quotations marks which can be straightened (MOS:CURLY). Sometimes curly quotes can be an indication that something was copy-and-pasted from the Internet, but this look okay.- There was overcapitalization in section headers (MOS:HEADINGS).
- There are some places where phrasing could be simplified, eg:
The group armies have sizes of between 30,000 and 65,000 troops. Each group army typically has two to three ...
→ The group armies have between 30,000 and 65,000 troops, typically comprising two to three ... - After going through the article, you could expand the lead to summarize its contents... although perhaps best to leave that since much of the article is unsourced.
Good work! Let me know if you have any questions! – Reidgreg (talk) 17:08, 29 April 2022 (UTC)

Hello, I just saw that you just made corrections today on my page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Mahmoud_Shehabi_Khorassani and I'm grateful to you, so can you please take a look again at it and tell me if it's ok, or something still needs to be changed. I have been working on this page since November 2021 and I have already made several necessary improvements, in required standard but I am still waiting for its admission since January 2022. I would like to add that this article concerns a very well-known personality in Iran (1903-1986) and that there is already a wikipedia page in Persian and one in French on him.

New page reviewer granted
Hi Zippybonzo. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers
" user group. Please check back at WP:PERM in case your user right is time limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page. In addition, please remember:
- Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
- You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
- If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
- Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page. Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.
The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. Cabayi (talk) 07:38, 23 May 2022 (UTC)

How to create a new post --Harish Hotelier (talk) 02:36, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Harish Hotelier Hi, to create a new post on a talk page you can press add topic at the top of the page, then you will have a box pop up at the bottom of the screen and you can add a title and some body text and then click add topic below the text box and it will leave the message for you on the talk page. | Zippybonzo | Talk | 06:14, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
Question from Techproa (16:03, 3 June 2022)
Hi, I would like to add a profile about my company --Techproa (talk) 16:03, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Techproa Hi, welcome, I strongly discourage creating a page about your company as it may not meet notability guidelines and is a conflict of interest (see here) and the page is likely to be deleted. Happy editing, | Zippybonzo | Talk | 18:15, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
- Hi @Zippybonzo, thanks for the advise. I'm new here. Could you kindly help me? You said I can't create a profile about my company. Please help me on how to go about this? Techproa (talk) 09:35, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Techproa If you do want to create a page about your company, you might find it’s already created, or it just isn’t notable, generally, people that work for a company can’t write about their company as it may come out overly positive, not aligning with our Neutral point of view policy. After all, Wikipedia isn’t a sandbox for promotional material. If you would like, you can tell me the name of your company and I can see whether it is notable enough for a Wikipedia page, if it is, I can request it at requested articles. | Zippybonzo | Talk | 14:55, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Question from AllNighters247 (07:13, 6 June 2022)
Any advice on how to start contributing to Wikipedia? --AllNighters247 (talk) 07:13, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- @AllNighters247 Hi, welcome to Wikipedia 🌈. You can use the mentee homepage (linked here) and I would say that there is no end to what you could do, I can’t say much about article writing as I don’t do it but I review the new pages here so I do know what needs doing to make a good article, but the backlog categories are also quite interesting. It really is up to you, I also quite like to copy edit (fix spelling and grammar) so that is also something that might interest you. If you need anymore help, please ask me on my talk page, you can do that by clicking add topic at the top of this page. Thanks, and welcome to Wikipedia 😊 | Zippybonzo | Talk | 14:52, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
RE: this edit
As she is a member of a national parliament, she meets WP:NPOL, so the notability Twinkle tag is incorrect (other tag and draftification is fine of course, though). Just letting you know for future reference in case you were unaware, as I know we have varying and often contradictory criteria that are tricky to learn. Cheers Curbon7 (talk) 03:04, 9 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Curbon7 I understand that, because there were no sources, or body text for that matter, I couldn’t tell whether it met notability guidelines. | Zippybonzo | Talk | 05:59, 9 June 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter June 2022
Hello Zippybonzo,
- Backlog status
At the time of the last newsletter (No.27, May 2022), the backlog was approaching 16,000, having shot up rapidly from 6,000 over the prior two months. The attention the newsletter brought to the backlog sparked a flurry of activity. There was new discussion on process improvements, efforts to invite new editors to participate in NPP increased and more editors requested the NPP user right so they could help, and most importantly, the number of reviews picked up and the backlog decreased, dipping below 14,000[a] at the end of May.
Since then, the news has not been so good. The backlog is basically flat, hovering around 14,200. I wish I could report the number of reviews done and the number of new articles added to the queue. But the available statistics we have are woefully inadequate. The only real number we have is the net queue size.[b]
In the last 30 days, the top 100 reviewers have all made more than 16 patrols (up from 8 last month), and about 70 have averaged one review a day (up from 50 last month).
While there are more people doing more reviews, many of the ~730 with the NPP right are doing little. Most of the reviews are being done by the top 50 or 100 reviewers. They need your help. We appreciate every review done, but please aim to do one a day (on average, or 30 a month).
- Backlog drive
A backlog reduction drive, coordinated by buidhe and Zippybonzo, will be held from July 1 to July 31. Sign up here. Barnstars will be awarded.
- TIP – New school articles
Many new articles on schools are being created by new users in developing and/or non-English-speaking countries. The authors are probably not even aware of Wikipedia's projects and policy pages. WP:WPSCH/AG has some excellent advice and resources specifically written for these users. Reviewers could consider providing such first-time article creators with a link to it while also mentioning that not all schools pass the GNG and that elementary schools are almost certainly not notable.
- Misc
There is a new template available, {{NPP backlog}}
, to show the current backlog. You can place it on your user or talk page as a reminder:
Very high unreviewed pages backlog: 12794 articles, as of 14:00, 17 November 2024 (UTC), according to DatBot
There has been significant discussion at WP:VPP recently on NPP-related matters (Draftification, Deletion, Notability, Verifiability, Burden). Proposals that would somewhat ease the burden on NPP aren't gaining much traction, although there are suggestions that the role of NPP be fundamentally changed to focus only on major CSD-type issues.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page. - If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process and its software.
- To opt-out of future mailings, please remove yourself here.

Question from King of Australia (03:19, 6 July 2022)
Hello!
I'd like to create my biography and add it to Wikipedia. I've read how it's discouraged, but that's what I'd like to do. Is the only way to be part of the following project (link below) or what's the best way to go about it? I'm not familiar with the formatting tags necessary, or anything like that. I'm quite novice on the whole thing.

Question from Mikelahardane on User:Serols (15:49, 3 July 2022)
Hello. I'd like to know why my edit to the incorrect published information was rejected? Kind regards Mike --Mikelahardane (talk) 15:49, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- Mikelahardane, please use sources and refrain from false reports. --Serols (talk) 17:11, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- I would probably agree with that, thanks, | Zippybonzo | Talk | 17:47, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
Hello I used Russian government sources in the same way you used Ukrainian government sources. I refrained from using false reports unlike the author who is leading people to believe that Ukrainian refugees were forced to go to Russia which is untrue and actually is false reporting. Wikipedia is supposed to be an unbiased source of information. It would be in Wikipedia's interest. Regards Mike Mikelahardane (talk) 21:41, 3 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Mikelahardane, Hi, I’m unable to advise as I didn’t revert the edit, it may be better to ask the user who reverted the edit as I can’t be in their mind as to why they reverted it. Thanks, | Zippybonzo | Talk | 08:15, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

When I make a list of theatrical animated film, how do I put a color in edit? --LogaNMATTEORobles (talk) 00:26, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

Question from AnnaMazza64 (04:46, 10 July 2022)
Hello! I've signed up as I'm trying to edit my father's wikipedia page, so that it is more accurate. The page is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Cooper_(rower) and my father would like to edit the career section to say:
Cooper represented Great Britain at five World Championships during the 1960s and, in 1967, won the British Sculling championships - The Wingfield Sculls. He won three events at Henley Royal Regatta.
Are you able to help me, as my edits are being rejected, despite me explaining why I've made the edits I have?
Many thanks for your help :) --AnnaMazza64 (talk) 04:46, 10 July 2022 (UTC)
- @AnnaMazza64 Hi, They are being rejected because you aren’t providing a reliable source to support your claims. You are also conflict of interest editing as you have a connection with the article subject, my advice is not to edit his page unless it is a minor edits (i.e typo) | Zippybonzo | Talk | 08:13, 10 July 2022 (UTC)

Hello, and thank you for installing User:NotReallyMoniak/review.js. However, I plan to U1 it because Omni Flames had already written User:Omni Flames/PendingChangesLink.js, rendering my script moot. Thanks for all your work on the NPP drive
The main thing that still needs to be done is giving out barnstars. Last time I did it, but this time I really don't know how I'll find the time. If you're willing to do it, it's pretty easy since all you need to do is add the points together to find out which barnstar(s) to give to each reviewer, then copy and paste to each editor's page. (t · c) buidhe 01:44, 27 July 2022 (UTC)
- @Buidhe I’m willing to do it - I will probably get excel out to do a table of all the barnstars when I get back home from my holiday. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 05:14, 27 July 2022 (UTC)

NPP July Backlog
Hello, I thought I'd signed up for the July backlog drive, but can't find any mention of it other than following the link on my talk page Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/July 2022/Participants to see my name on the list. Was I meant to do something else as well? All the other reviewers I know got a barnstar and were told how many they had completed. I thought I'd done at least a couple of hundred reviews but haven't got any stats back. Is there anyway of finding out how many I did complete in July? Regards. Hughesdarren (talk) 08:28, 4 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Hughesdarren I will take a look at the stats that the bot provides, and award a barnstar accordingly. Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 09:34, 4 August 2022 (UTC)

New Page Patrol newsletter August 2022
Hello Zippybonzo,
- Backlog status
After the last newsletter (No.28, June 2022), the backlog declined another 1,000 to 13,000 in the last week of June. Then the July backlog drive began, during which 9,900 articles were reviewed and the backlog fell by 4,500 to just under 8,500 (these numbers illustrate how many new articles regularly flow into the queue). Thanks go to the coordinators Buidhe and Zippybonzo, as well as all the nearly 100 participants. Congratulations to Dr vulpes who led with 880 points. See this page for further details.
Unfortunately, most of the decline happened in the first half of the month, and the backlog has already risen to 9,600. Understandably, it seems many backlog drive participants are taking a break from reviewing and unfortunately, we are not even keeping up with the inflow let alone driving it lower. We need the other 600 reviewers to do more! Please try to do at least one a day.
- Coordination
- MB and Novem Linguae have taken on some of the coordination tasks. Please let them know if you are interested in helping out. MPGuy2824 will be handling recognition, and will be retroactively awarding the annual barnstars that have not been issued for a few years.
- Open letter to the WMF
- The Page Curation software needs urgent attention. There are dozens of bug fixes and enhancements that are stalled (listed at Suggested improvements). We have written a letter to be sent to the WMF and we encourage as many patrollers as possible to sign it here. We are also in negotiation with the Board of Trustees to press for assistance. Better software will make the active reviewers we have more productive.
- TIP - Reviewing by subject
- Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages by their most familiar subjects can do so from the regularly updated sorted topic list.
- New reviewers
- The NPP School is being underused. The learning curve for NPP is quite steep, but a detailed and easy-to-read tutorial exists, and the Curation Tool's many features are fully described and illustrated on the updated page here.
- Reminders
- Consider staying informed on project issues by putting the project discussion page on your watchlist.
- If you have noticed a user with a good understanding of Wikipedia notability and deletion, suggest they help the effort by placing
{{subst:NPR invite}}
on their talk page.

Trying to get a page live
Hi there,
I have been trying to get https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Staffing_Future - Live on wikipedia. I didn’t know if you were an expert in this field but I have been adding relevant sources and we are in the process of having more information written about us in the market space. I was wondering if you could advise me a little further on how to get this page live.
Thanks! Stander60 (talk) 21:51, 8 August 2022 (UTC)

- Sorry that was me replying above, I was just logged out of my account. Stander60 (talk) 16:27, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Stander60 Where have you disclosed? Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 16:38, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- It should be in the talk section of the page? I applied a piece of code there a while back saying I was a paid contributor. Stander60 (talk) 17:57, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- @Stander60 I discourage creating pages on topics you have connections with, but I will say, source your information with reliable secondary sourcing - secondary meaning they are based off of primary sources, which are connected with the topic. Even if the page meets GNG, because Wikipedia isn’t a marketing service, it will most likely go under extra scrutiny by myself or another reviewer. I would also not ask the entirety of the new page reviewers as they will all say the same thing. But as a start, make the article align with the notability guidelines. Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 20:46, 9 August 2022 (UTC)
- Ok thank you for your help. I'll keep trying to get the sources correct. Stander60 (talk) 20:57, 9 August 2022 (UTC)

August 2022
Your recent editing history at Section 377A of the Penal Code (Singapore) shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See the bold, revert, discuss cycle for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly. ;; Maddy ♥︎(they/she)♥︎ :: talk 13:15, 21 August 2022 (UTC)

Guild of Copy Editors' October 2022 newsletter
Guild of Copy Editors October 2022 Newsletter
Hello and welcome to our latest newsletter, a quarterly digest of Guild activities since June. Don't forget you can unsubscribe at any time; see below. Drive: Of the 22 editors who signed up for our July Backlog Elimination Drive, 18 copy-edited, between them, 116 articles. Barnstars awarded are noted here. Blitz: Participants in our August Copy Editing Blitz copy-edited 51,074 words in 17 articles. Of the 15 editors who signed up, 11 claimed at least one copy-edit. Barnstars awarded are noted here. Drive: Forty-one editors took part in our September Backlog Elimination Drive; between them they copy-edited 199 articles. Barnstars awards are noted here. Blitz: Our October Copy Editing Blitz begins on 16 October at 00:01 (UTC) and will end on 22 October at 23:59 (UTC). Barnstars awarded will be posted here. Progress report: As of 19:57, 12 October 2022 (UTC), GOCE copyeditors have processed 303 requests for copy edit – including withdrawn and declined ones – since 1 January. At the time of writing, there are 77 requests awaiting attention and the backlog of tagged articles stands at 1,759. We always need more active, skilled copyeditors – particularly for requests – so please get involved if you can. Election news: In our mid-year election, serving coordinators Baffle gab1978, Dhtwiki, Miniapolis, Reidgreg and Tenryuu were returned for another term, and were joined by new coordinator Zippybonzo. No lead coordinator was elected for this half-year. Jonesey95, a long-serving coordinator and lead, was elected as coordinator emeritus; we thank them for their service. Thank you to everyone who took part. Our next election of coordinators takes place throughout December. If you'd like to help out at the GOCE, please consider nominating yourself or other suitable editors (with their permission, of course!). It's your Guild, after all! Thank you all again for your participation; we wouldn't be able to achieve what we have without you! Cheers from your GOCE coordinators Baffle gab1978, Dhtwiki, Miniapolis, Reidgreg, Tenryuu and Zippybonzo. To discontinue receiving GOCE newsletters, please remove your name from our mailing list.

New Page Patrol newsletter October 2022
Hello Zippybonzo,
Much has happened since the last newsletter over two months ago. The open letter finished with 444 signatures. The letter was sent to several dozen people at the WMF, and we have heard that it is being discussed but there has been no official reply. A related article appears in the current issue of The Signpost. If you haven't seen it, you should, including the readers' comment section.
Awards: Barnstars were given for the past several years (thanks to MPGuy2824), and we are now all caught up. The 2021 cup went to John B123 for leading with 26,525 article reviews during 2021. To encourage moderate activity, a new "Iron" level barnstar is awarded annually for reviewing 360 articles ("one-a-day"), and 100 reviews earns the "Standard" NPP barnstar. About 90 reviewers received barnstars for each of the years 2018 to 2021 (including the new awards that were given retroactively). All awards issued for every year are listed on the Awards page. Check out the new Hall of Fame also.
Software news: Novem Linguae and MPGuy2824 have connected with WMF developers who can review and approve patches, so they have been able to fix some bugs, and make other improvements to the Page Curation software. You can see everything that has been fixed recently here. The reviewer report has also been improved.
Suggestions:
- There is much enthusiasm over the low backlog, but remember that the "quality and depth of patrolling are more important than speed".
- Reminder: an article should not be tagged for any kind of deletion for a minimum of 15 minutes after creation and it is often appropriate to wait an hour or more. (from the NPP tutorial)
- Reviewers should focus their effort where it can do the most good, reviewing articles. Other clean-up tasks that don't require advanced permissions can be left to other editors that routinely improve articles in these ways (creating Talk Pages, specifying projects and ratings, adding categories, etc.) Let's rely on others when it makes the most sense. On the other hand, if you enjoy doing these tasks while reviewing and it keeps you engaged with NPP (or are guiding a newcomer), then by all means continue.
- This user script puts a link to the feed in your top toolbar.
Backlog:
Saving the best for last: From a July low of 8,500, the backlog climbed back to 11,000 in August and then reversed in September dropping to below 6,000 and continued falling with the October backlog drive to under 1,000, a level not seen in over four years. Keep in mind that there are 2,000 new articles every week, so the number of reviews is far higher than the backlog reduction. To keep the backlog under a thousand, we have to keep reviewing at about half the recent rate!
- Reminders
- Newsletter feedback - please take this short poll about the newsletter.
- If you're interested in instant messaging and chat rooms, please join us on the New Page Patrol Discord, where you can ask for help and live chat with other patrollers.

Question from WeirdPotato1122 (20:40, 22 October 2022)
Hey! How Many Edits It Takes To Become An Approved Professional Editor On Wikipedia --WeirdPotato1122 (talk) 20:40, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
- @WeirdPotato1122 Depends what you consider approved, autoconfirmed is 10 edits and 4 days, extended confirmed is 500 edits and 30 days. Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 07:04, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
Early end of the backlog drive
A few days ago, new page patrollers got the backlog to zero. Due to the unprecedented success of the backlog drive, it will be ending early—at the end of 24 October, or in approximately two hours.
Barnstars will be awarded as soon as the coords can tally the results. Streak awards will be allocated based on the first three weeks of the drive, with the last three days being counted as part of week three.
Great work everyone! MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:50, 24 October 2022 (UTC)

NPP streak awards
Hi Zippybonzo,
Thanks for taking care of the drive admin and issuing the awards. Can you help me understand the streak awards, as that's something I (don't think) I've come across before?
My weekly streaks were 28 / 102 / 39. For these, I was given one streak award, the 'Geneva mechanism' (25+). I was also expecting the cool 'planetary gear' (100+), but didn't get one — did I not qualify for that for some reason, or have these just not been handed out yet? (I was also thinking I might get a second 'Geneva mechanism', but perhaps you don't issue duplicates?)
Obviously no biggie ... well, kind of a biggie! :) ... just wanted to check if I'd misunderstood something. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:18, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
- @DoubleGrazing the way that I did it was that all three streak numbers had to be above the threshold for the award, so that someone couldn’t do 14/164/154 and get complicated gears, because you have to have a consistent total across all the weeks. I can’t say for sure that’s how it’s meant to be, but I think it is. Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 09:43, 2 November 2022 (UTC)
- Oh okay, didn't realise that. But if them's the rules, then them's the rules. Thanks, -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 09:57, 2 November 2022 (UTC)

Adoptees
Hi. Looks like we may have similar wiki interests and I'm hoping you will adopt me and help me develop some skills. Let me know if you want anymore details and if you can help. Thanks Lukewarmbeer (talk) 09:24, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lukewarmbeer Hi Lukewarmbeer, I would happily adopt you and guide you to help develop your wiki-skills. We can proceed in two ways, I can create a course for you based on the skills you want to improve, or you can just continue as normal, and I will review your edits periodically and you can ask me any questions you may have. Please do let me know which way you want to proceed.
- Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 14:18, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Very much appreciated.
- I think possibly the course route might be good.
- I'd like to develop my ability to be active in anti vandalism and also improving articles.
- I see improvement as adding citations where possible or 'correcting' articles when opinion is stated as fact or inaccurate information is provided rather than tidying up the presentation etc., although I might do a bit of that while I'm looking at the article.
- Time is limited but I will work through whatever you give me as best I can. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 09:35, 21 November 2022 (UTC)

Templates
Hi. To kill two birds with one stone I'm looking at RedWarn templates and have started installing. The third says
- Nominator: Please consider placing the template:
{{subst:Db-vandalism-notice|User talk:Lukewarmbeer|header=1}} ~~~~
I have tried inserting this in the talk page - and my own - and in my templates - without success. I think I need a steer. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 09:49, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- I think I've got the template thing (pretty much) now. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 13:46, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lukewarmbeer With RedWarn, you can press the ! In an octagon to open the warn menu, then select the reason and the level of warning and it will automatically warn them for you. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 19:05, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
Rollback and Cur/Prev version
As you will see I have been having a play. I realise I should have stuck to the sandbox. I have been rolling back to get rid of some templates but I had a visit from explicit as no doubt something I did drew attention. I don't want to undo Explicit's good work and 'activate' the template I used (assuming that was the cause) so I am reluctant to mess about anymore. Can you assist please. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 13:46, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- And.... An automated filter has identified that you are attempting to remove a deletion notice from a page that you have created.
- The creator of a page may not remove a speedy deletion tag from it. If you created this page and you disagree with the given reason for deletion, please go to the talk page and leave a message explaining why you believe it should not be deleted. You can also visit the talk page to check if you have received a response to your message.
- If you believe you received this message in error, you may report this error. Lukewarmbeer (talk) 14:41, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lukewarmbeer for the first one, nothing bad should happen, and the second one is because you were removing a deletion tag from a page you created, which shouldn’t be bad unless you save the edit as you can then get in trouble for saving the edit. Thanks, Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 19:06, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

NPP newsletter draft test send
Hello Zippybonzo,
Backlog
Redirect drive: In response to an unusually high redirect backlog, we held a redirect backlog drive in May. The drive completed with 23851 reviews done in total, bringing the redirect backlog to 0 (momentarily). Congratulations to Hey man im josh who led with 4183 points. See this page for more details. The redirect queue is steadily rising again and is steadily approaching 4,000. Please continue to help out, even if it's only for a few or even one review a day.
WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team, consisting of Sam, Jason and Susana, and also some patches from Jon, has been hard at work updating PageTriage. They are focusing their efforts on modernising the extension's code rather than on bug fixes or new features, though some user-facing work will be prioritised. This will help make sure that this extension is not deprecated, and is easier to work on in the future. In the next month or so, we will have an opt-in beta test where new page patrollers can help test the rewrite of Special:NewPagesFeed, to help find bugs. We will post more details at WT:NPPR when we are ready for beta testers.
Articles for Creation (AFC): All new page reviewers are now automatically approved for Articles for Creation draft reviewing (you do not need to apply at WT:AFCP like was required previously). To install the AFC helper script, visit Special:Preferences, visit the Gadgets tab, tick "Just Another Articles For Creation Helper Script", then click "Save". To find drafts to review, visit Special:NewPagesFeed, and at the top left, tick "Articles for Creation". To review a draft, visit a submitted draft, click on the "More" menu, then click "Review (AFCH)". You can also comment and submit drafts that are unsubmitted using the script.
You can review the AFC workflow at WP:AFCR. It is up to you if you also want to mark your AFC accepts as NPP reviewed (this is allowed but optional, depends if you would like a second set of eyes on your accept). Don't forget that draftspace is optional, so moves of drafts to mainspace (even if they are not ready) should not be reverted, except possibly if there is conflict of interest.
Pro tip: Did you know that visual artists such as painters have their own SNG? The most common part of this "creative professionals" criteria that applies to artists is WP:ARTIST 4b (solo exhibition, not group exhibition, at a major museum) or 4d (being represented within the permanent collections of two museums).

Hello
I'm glad you seem to be feeling better. I'm currently working on another mediawiki project so I might not be as active as I was previously until I've ironed out most of the stuff there, but once I do I'll more than likely join your NPP class. Deauthorized. (talk) 04:04, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Deauthorized of course, I'm still doing a bit of stuff at wikifunctions and I will be for the remainder of the year and then some, but I have balanced my activity to the point where I can take on some more students :). Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 06:59, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- Honestly I forgot about Wikifunctions until I got the email that I was added to Functioneers. I probably then forgot about it again until you mentioned it. Either way I'll most likely contact you here later this month.
- I'm still on IRC, so we can communicate there if needed. Deauthorized. (talk) 08:05, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
- @Deauthorized haha lol I just got the global alert when I was added to functioneers, and then I decided to go do function reviewing lol. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 12:41, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
