What are you referring to? I made both Wikipedia and Google searches and don't know which John M. Greer you mean. Wikipedia has no mention of the name. orphan articles[edit]

I was trying to find Lord Dennings judgment about small print in contract law. I found a reference to a case " Anglo Continental Holidays Ltd v Typaldos Lines (London) Ltd " on another site so looked it up on here. the page existed but it no content except an invitation to provide some. I simultaneously had found he answer on another site. I felt inspired to join and provide he answer in the empty subject heading. In order to check that all was well I looked up simply "Lord Denning" and found full and comprehensive information including the case I was originally looking for, but not the article I had just filled in, which included the name "Lord Denning". I now feel my efforts were superfluous and would be much better replaced with a clear sign-post to the main article about Lord Denning. I suspect that in many cases a better connection tag would be more useful than filling empty headings. I don't know if this is within the competence of us keen contributors

You have created an article, with the rather long name Anglo Continental Holidays Ltd v Typaldos Lines (London) Ltd. It needs some work, it it is to remain as an article, as it currently lacks all references to external sources. There is no link to it from the Lord Denning article, because no-one has created one. I am afraid that the common names for legal cases can sometimes be rather long and there's really no way to avoid it. This one is short compared to the titles of some of our legal case articles! I'll wikikgnome it and see if I can help out.--ukexpat (talk) 13:20, 26 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Capitalization in a Wikipedia article[edit]

Let's say that the name of an article in Wikipedia is, for example, "Murder of John Smith". Let's also assume that the article begins with the following sentence: "The murder of John Smith occurred on January 1, 1972." Oftentimes, we will bold some words in the introductory sentence if they match the name of the article. So, in a case like this, would it be correct to have the first sentence read: "The murder of John Smith occurred on January 1, 1972."? Or should it be: "The Murder of John Smith occurred on January 1, 1972."? So, is the "m" in the word "murder" capitalized or lower-case? In a normal English sentence, we would not use a capital "m" in this case. But, in Wikipedia, I often see the letter capitalized (when it normally would not be) simply because it matches the exact title of the article. WP:LEADSENTENCE says: "When the page title is used as the subject of the first sentence, it may appear in a slightly different form, and it may include variations, including synonyms." Lowercasing that M would qualify as a slightly different form, and it would look more natural with it lowercased. How do you get more eyes on a discussion?[edit]

A discussion was started on a core policy page (since moved to a subpage), it’s got an RFC on it and a note at WP:Village pump (policy), provisional changes have been made to some articles… yet there is very little involvement from more than a few editors. What else could be done to get more editors involved? Or is that it? Or should I be asking this somewhere else? I understand the desire to look for "more eyes" when an RfC isn't going your way. If the opposes were all newbies, I'd be more concerned about the number of eyes, but there appears to be at least some experience among them. I think the thing to do is just let it run its course as is and, if it fails, lick your wounds and move on.
