suggesting an article[edit]

I work for St. Anne's Guest Home, an assisted living type facility with an interesting and, I would say, important history here in Grand Forks, North Dakota. The facility was formerly (prior to the early '80s) located at what used to be a hospital and is now an apartment building. There is still some confusion with people as to where the current location is. I think it would be nice for Wikipedia to have an article about our facility, which serves the elderly and vulnerable. This is because of: the important work done here, the interesting history, and the confusion still in some people's minds over location, even after so many years. Because of my position as a staff member here, however, I would not be advised to write an article because of the conflict of interest policy. If anyone else would write an article, or offer my any suggestion, I would appreciate it. Our website, which offers more information is: www.stannesguesthome.org . Hello Stannesguesthome The place to suggest an article is Wikipedia:Requested articles. All articles must be based almost exclusively on significant coverage in independent reliable sources like newspapers and magazines (not press releases, business directory listings, or mere mentions). If such coverage exists, it might help if you listed it in your requested articles nomination. If it does not exist, an article is impossible. BBC Woman's Hour is right now discussing lying about one's age. Several of the speakers have mentioned Wikipedia as, in effect, there no longer is any point in attempting to conceal such biographical details. @JOHN MCKINNON: First, please STOP WRITING IN ALL CAPS. I changed the title of that thread. While it is technically feasible to WP:Rollback all your edits, simply requesting it is not grounds to do so - as the editing box indicates, every time you make an edit, you irrevocably agree to release your contribution under the CC BY-SA 3.0 License and the GFDL which means anyone can reuse it even without your consent.

@Anushtup: I intended to remove that "speedy deletion" tag because it was inappropriate, but it was removed by someone else already.

However, your article might still get deleted by the standard, "slow" process if the topic is found to not be "notable". On Wikipedia, this means "has been discussed at length by reliable sources independent of the subject". (That is a summary of our guidelines, click on the blue links to learn more). No amount of editing will overcome a lack of notability; but you are more than welcome to source carefully the article to show the subject is notable if it indeed is; see WP:REFB for how to do so. The appropriate way to request edits for articles for which you have a conflict of interest is to make your request on the article's talk page, including references for the information you would like added, removed, or changed. Copy and paste the text: {{request edit}}, along with your comment and it will be added to the list of requested edits. The project is usually backlogged, so you may not have a quick response, but a volunteer will address your request in time.

The best way to successfully complete this is to be as specific as possible with your request, and proivide reliable sources to back up the information. Requests that are not specific or sourced will likely be declined. TimothyJosephWood 15:16, 6 December 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Stephanie Retuya for deletion. Three days have gone by and nobody has voted in the AfD. One AfD discussion I created (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Malta's Top Model (2nd nomination)) went eight days without votes, so I embedded an RfC in it but was told to remove it by another user. Hi, Can The Sun, Daily Mirror, Irish Mirror and MTV be used as reliable sources for BLPs ?,

The question refers to an AFD, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Vincenzo Pellegrino about soap opera, TV and stage actor Vincenzo Pellegrino who is covered fairly extensively in the British press. I see no reason to believe that the articles being discussed at the AFD were "online" and not in print editions; in the discussion, Davey2010 dismisses them "tabloids". Nor am I clear why this minor actor was borught to AFD, instead of being merely tagged of sourcing. But, to return to the point, daily newspapers are reliable on material like authored theatre reviews, roles an actor plays on TV, articles about those TV shows. and the like. And, certainly, profiles that run in a daily paper can be used for neutral stuff, like discussions of an actor's career. Forcing "new lines" within a wikitable cell[edit]

Hi, I want to make a table where the first header column can be forcibly segmented into new lines. However, I am having trouble (using <br> within a wikitable doesn't work as expected):

The second pipe is not necessary. The space between the two single pipes is cell attributes but if it's empty then it can just be omitted. This gives the same result:

Is my signature acceptable?[edit]

Hi. There's nothing saying anything about using emoji in the signature guidelines, so I wanted to get a consensus: Is my signature acceptable? I feel like it's fairly clear. As well, it renders by default in Firefox, and just about any browser/OS combo that supports emoji. And non-latin characters are allowed in usernames, so I figured emoji wouldn't be going too far based on previous consensus. I would be a little iffy on that, it may not render on some browsers without the kind of support that Chrome or Firefox has...like Internet Explorer. Wonder if it would be possible for me to use some sort of fallback so that if it has issues, I could just have it fallback to my username, but I doubt that's at the very least easy, not to mention sane to pull off in a signature. 🐈?, see edits by User:☂ (example) and by User:✄ (example); I'm not aware of people having suggested that their owners change anything with the usernames or the signatures. The worst that happens is that someone sees your signature as a little box with a question mark; that's hardly a problem. A bigger issue, in my opinion, is your actual username (but it's not some violation!), because it's a little hard to reach your userspace. Question marks automatically get truncated when you put them at the end of a URL, so https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:What_cat? goes to the nonexistent https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:What_cat (HTML even excludes the ? from the URL!) and the same for your talk page. I'm not trying to persuade you to request another username change if you're happy with this one; just be aware that people might have trouble reaching you. You may want to register User:What cat as a doppelgänger account (see WP:DG) and redirect its userspace/usertalkspace pages to your own, to make it easier for people to reach you and harder for someone to impersonate you. @Nyttend: Ah, I had figured there were other usernames like my signature, I just wasn't sure. Thanks. Also, on the username issue, I actually was having issues because of that problem, haha: trying to go to /wiki/What_cat? and not /wiki/What_cat%3f causes it to do the same thing as the URL shown, as it tries to use ? as the start of parameters. That page has lots of warnings about misusing extra accounts, but those warnings are all about disruptive possession of a second account; doppelgänger are not at all problematic, so I'm sure the account will be created without question. BLP violation- removal of content backed by reputed citations[edit]

Hello, This is regarding Marina Abramović. As described in her "controversy" section, she has gone through quite a few controversies (cited using reputed journals). Therefore, keeping Wikipedia neutrality, since a living or dead personality can be described as "popular", a criminal can be described as a criminal in the introduction; similarly, citing her numerous controversies and nature of art performance, it seems neutral and logical to describe her in the following way-

Marina Abramović (Serbian Cyrillic: Марина Абрамовић, Serbian pronunciation: [maˌrǐːna abˈrǎːmoʋit͡ɕ]; born November 30, 1946) is a Yugoslavia-born controversial^[1]^[2] performance artist based in New York.^[3] Her work explores the relationship between performer and audience, the limits of the body, and the possibilities of the mind. Active for over three decades, Abramović describes herself^[4] as the "grandmother of performance art." She pioneered a new notion of identity by bringing in the participation of observers, focusing on "confronting pain, blood, and physical limits of the body."^[5].
