July 7[edit]

In the big box with photo at the top of the page - the link - James Matthews (son-in-law) - is too small compared to the other names. Please fix. Thanks 101.182.141.22 (talk) 00:56, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Pagudpud Ilocos Norte 2013-2016 Vice mayor[edit]

Hello and good day I am Rafael Ralph benemerito II, one of the Sb members I would like to make correction regarding pagudpud, ilocos Norte municipal official specially vice mayor for 2013-2016 it must be Rex C. Benemerito not mathilde sales. Thank you hope for your immediate action on the matter. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.87.251.194 (talk) 01:06, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Would you please specify what article you're referring to? RivertorchFIREWATER 04:31, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Rivertorch:, presumably Pagudpud. OP, can you please provide a reliable source for this information. The only thing I can find is a Facebook page, which doesn't meet our requirements. Also, the better place to request this would be on the article talk page. Thanks. Rojomoke (talk) 05:10, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

making a page for a band and need help with citations and such.[edit]

Hello,

My name is Ted and I work for the band XEB (former members of Third Eye Blind). In regards to the band and how it started there is very little source material to cite other than what the band members have told me directly. How do I resolve this? — Preceding unsigned comment added by XEBband (talkcontribs) 03:35, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

There are two separate but related issues here—notability and verifiability. Notability, in Wikipedia parlance, means whether a subject is suitable for a standalone article. For a subject to meet Wikipedia's notability requirements, it should have received significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of itself. There are specific guidelines for determining whether a band is considered notable: see WP:BAND.
Even when a subject is notable, an article about it must contain content that is verifiable using reliable published sources, not content that is based on personal knowledge, anecdote or hearsay. The latter is called original research, and it isn't permitted. You could use what band members told you as a rough basis for outlining an article, but the actual content would need to be reliably sourced. RivertorchFIREWATER 04:47, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
There are two further issues. Your user name suggests that it is an account for the band, and this is not acceptable. All accounts on Wikipedia must be personal accounts. The other issue is that you have a WP:Conflict of interest and you are required to declare your WP:Paid status. Dbfirs 07:13, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Administrator needed to close two interpersonal ANIs[edit]

Good day. An Administrator is needed to close two interpersonal ANIs: 1 and 2. Because of the nature of these ANIs — and what resulted from the closure by a non-administrator of an ANI related to "2" — attention from an Administrator is crucial. Thank you. Pyxis Solitary talk 04:58, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

If you need admins, the WP:Administrator's noticeboard will be where you'll get quickest response. Joseph2302 (talk) 09:24, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Pyxis Solitary. Given that both of those are on WP:ANI multiple admins will have already seen them. Some never get closed and just fade away. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:17, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, both. :-) Pyxis Solitary talk 13:24, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Problematic link on page - course of action.[edit]

I just noticed that the link on this page "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easy_Programming_Language" has been reported as unsafe by multiple sources, including google safe browsing (see: https://www.google.com/transparencyreport/safebrowsing/diagnostic/#url=http://epl.eyuyan.com/). I think it may be worth to check if the link should be removed, but I don't have an account on Wikipedia nor I know what is the community-preferred way to deal with this kind of issue.

I am creating this message so that some more experience user may pick up this issue. Please forgive me if this is not the most appropriate section of the site for this kind of problems. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.14.103.239 (talk) 07:36, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. It seems to have been changed already. See here. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:15, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Need help regarding Reference on Wikipedia[edit]

Hello,

I have created a new account here and I want to place a link to my website as a reference. I own a business named La Fantaisie and famous actors like Ganesh Venkataraman, Nisha Krishnan, Deepika padukone etc have endorsed for our collection. You can also check the reference link for south actor Ganesh Venkatraman. The articles have mentioned our name.

May I know how I can link to external website of mine through editing or what i can I do.

Thanks, Rachel — Preceding unsigned comment added by La Fantaisie (talkcontribs) 07:53, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Rachel. I'm afraid that you will not be able to do that. Wikipedia has a very strong policy that it may not be used for promotion (of anything or anybody), and purely promotional links will always get removed --ColinFine (talk) 12:10, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

want to write an article about other person...[edit]

Dear Sir/Mam
How can i write an article about any other person.... — Preceding unsigned comment added by Khursheedazmi (talkcontribs) 09:15, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Khursheedazmi. If you want to try the rewarding but quite difficult task of creating a new article, please start by studying Your first article. --ColinFine (talk) 12:13, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Khursheedazmi. For a very compact set of rules see Wikipedia:Biography dos and don'ts, and for an extended manual on composing biographic article for Wikipedia go to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biographies. Additionally, if the other person is still alive, you should read Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons. --CiaPan (talk) 15:41, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I please someone who is an Admin. I want to contents and all versions from former artile List of countries by length of expressways (currently this is redirect) has been redirect to my sandbox. Regards. Dawid2009 (talk) 09:45, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Dawid2009: I don't think I understand your request. List of countries by length of expressways is a redirect to List of countries by road network size. It has never been redirected to your sandbox, and should not be. Maproom (talk) 14:59, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I not think about redirect to my sandbox a link list of countries by length of expressways'. I think about informations which there was before in former article 'list of countries by length of expressways (before thre was separate an article). Dawid2009 (talk) 15:07, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The earlier version was deleted (see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of countries by length of expressways). See WP:REFUND for how to get it back. Dbfirs 15:40, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Template question[edit]

Hello, I would like to know if there is a template I could use to on a User's talk page to notify them that a page they created has been nominated for speedy deletion. Any help would be appreciated. SamHolt6 (talk) 14:41, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@SamHolt6: When you nominate a page for speedy, the speedy notice itself should contain a line of 'code' which you can place on the ceator's TP. See Template:Db-a7 for example.Eagleash (talk) 14:56, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--SamHolt6 (talk) 15:16, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Category 2018 NCAA Baseball season[edit]

Can you move the category from the talk page to the draft page please. 2600:8803:7A00:976A:B132:DCCB:B590:9B42 (talk) 16:05, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@2600:8803:7A00:976A:B132:DCCB:B590:9B42: Category:2018 NCAA Baseball season does not exist. Daylen (talk) 21:40, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Yes it Does Exist Because it need's to move to Article Space now not later. And get your lazy butt's in gear now. 2600:8803:7A00:976A:35B7:5816:DA39:DE32 (talk) 17:51, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Question: When you've asked so nicely why would anyone want to help you? BTW as you have been told many times before if you create an account then you can move things yourself. MarnetteD|Talk 17:55, 10 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

needed page[edit]

We need a page or pages about Fred Chappell, who has written numerous novels, stories, and poetry collections. He is widely known in the South and among his awards is the Bolligen (sp?) for poetry, which he shared with John Ashbury (sp?). Unfortunately, I can't do it myself. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.51.7.141 (talk) 16:17, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

See Fred Chappell. Eagleash (talk) 16:30, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Avoiding an edit war over new article tag[edit]

Hello. I seem to be engaged in a struggle with User talk:Kashif Latif over his creation of a new article, Kashif Latif. I have tagged his page for speedy deletion as it is both promoting and non-notable, but he persists in removing my tags. What would be the best course of action? SamHolt6 (talk) 19:23, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well, he's been warned for years. I'm hoping that some admin who reads this will finally WP:SALT that page. †dismas†|(talk) 19:49, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Deleted and salted. RJFJR (talk) 19:51, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) @SamHolt16: Hi, I have warned the user about removal of speedy from self-created pages, at a fairly high level, as he has removed the tag on multiple occasions. I have also noted the previous deletions with an 'AFC comment' on the page. If he persists in removing the tag it should go to WP:AIV. It may also be a case where Admin. might block future re-creation. Eagleash (talk) 19:55, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As has now happened. Eagleash (talk) 19:56, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I know, if there isn't an administrator who acts upon your question here, the best place where you could bring up the issue is Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. Bever (talk) 19:58, 7 July 2017 (UTC) PS When I was writing this, two other people answered, but I did not get an 'edit conflict' warning. Strange.[reply]
@Bever: There are Admins. who read this page, some of them also regular volunteer helpers. As you can see above, the page has been salted. Eagleash (talk) 20:05, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, thanks. I notice Talk:Kashif Latif still exists. Is this the normal procedure? Bever (talk) 20:30, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
They do tend to hang around for a few days (maybe longer) before being deleted in general housekeeping. They can be deleted using CSD G8 (talk page dependent on a non-existent page) but I have not tagged it as yet as there is old AfD info on the page. Eagleash (talk) 20:58, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

By the way, the Dutch Wikipedia has also a speedy deletion page on which one can add proposals for speedy deletion, so that the tag removal would be less of an issue. Would that be a good idea for the English Wikipedia as well? Bever (talk) 20:14, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced section tag[edit]

Hi, I stumbled upon Ethnogenesis. The section "Inclusive or exclusive nationalism" has had an 'unreferenced' tag since 2009. I have some questions about the necessity of this tag and Help talk:Maintenance template removal refers me to the Help desk.

In the article history I found out that the section was considerably larger at the time the tag was placed. The paragraph about Nazi Germany was removed in 2010 (with the comment 'seems out of place, perhaps if reformulated') and the paragraph about Yugoslavia, also criticized on the talk page was also removed in 2014, leaving only the paragraph about France. In other words, the tag originally referred (also) to information which is not there,

What is told there, is known by everyone with some knowledge about France and French history, so I wonder if it is possibly to remove the maintenance tag? Bever (talk) 19:42, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Bever Please do not remove the tag, unless you have first added the required references. The English Wikipedia is not written only for people "with some knowledge about France and French history". There are several more sections in that article that have no or few references, it needs a lot of work to bring it up to standard. Roger (Dodger67) (talk) 20:21, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The Volkswagen Kubelwagen page[edit]

After adding an addition to the Volkswagen Kubelwagen page, I found a notice about "<ref>s without content between them." However, I can't find any such notices in the text. I did, however, raise the question about how many were used for the Army's analysis of this vehicle, for which I have no further information.

What is wrong, and what should I do about it? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2602:306:C41C:4D80:9469:2ED8:F343:7885 (talk) 23:47, 7 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The problem is the empty ref tags in "...include photos of a single Kub<ref></ref>elwagen...". I've removed them. RudolfRed (talk) 00:23, 8 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
