September 10[edit]

Hello,

All I want is to add this podcast (http://swordandscale.com/sword-and-scale-episode-5/) as a reference on this wiki page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_child_prostitution_ring_allegations). From what I can tell, the page and its talk page are protected? Not sure what to do.

Hi @Jwh6ux, If you head over to the article, you'll notice a little lock symbol at the upper-right corner of the page. This lock indicates that the page has been semi-protected; clicking it will take you to WP:SEMI, which explains what's going on. To put it simply, the article has been protected to prevent editing by unregistered and brand new users due to high levels of vandalism to the page. Your account will need to be autoconfirmed in order to edit it, which will happen automatically once your account is four days old and you've made ten edits to Wikipedia.

Now, you don't necessarily have to wait for the ability to edit the article. You can head over to the article's talk page and submit a request for another editor to edit the page for you. You may create a new section at the bottom of the talk page, specify what exactly you wish to change in the article, and then add {{edit semi-protected}} to your message to alert other editors that you've made a request.  Seagull123  Φ  16:36, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, Seagull123, that Talk page is also semi-protected. {The poster fornmerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.122.61.201 (talk) 03:07, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please get rid of the blue writing underneath the file picture that I hade just added - i.e. www. etc etc Thanks 101.182.23.36 (talk) 10:15, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

 Fixed This actually relates to George Goodman (politician). Eagleash (talk) 10:18, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, could anyone tell me the exact requirements for becoming extendedconfirmed is it 30 days an just 500 edits in any space or the mainspace? Bingobro (Chat) 16:38, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Any space, not just main space.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:03, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You are getting close.--S Philbrick(Talk) 01:05, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Sphilbrick: Thanks. Bingobro (Chat) 02:09, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Tigraan: Well, there isn't any specific reason that I need the rights immediately , as it is I'm pretty close at 450+ edits. So, its doubtful that I'll be granted them in advance at WP:PERM. Bingobro (Chat) 03:12, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Well WP:PERM is no longer needed as I am now WP:XCON (automatically). Bingobro (Chat) 05:46, 12 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

More on dab pages[edit]

@PrimeHunter: I fear that this subject is inexhaustibly complicated, and please tell me if my time would be better spent editing 1920s Weimar cinema articles. Nevertheless:

A while ago I created UJM (disambiguation) with three entries. I now suspect (with my new limited understanding of WP:Disambiguation) that since there is no associated primary topic, the page should be called simply UJM. However, this is currently a redirect to Universal Japanese Motorcycle, and was possibly a redirect before the other two articles existed.

  1. Should UJM be the main dab page, with UJM (disambiguation) a redirect to it?
  2. If so, what is the approved procedure? Can I just place #REDIRECT UJM in UJM (disambiguation), and cut & paste its contents to UJM? I expect it's more complicated than that, with talk pages (although both are empty), page histories, etc.
  3. I suspect that a similar situation exists with Transcendental Étude (disambiguation) and Transcendental Étude: but the twists and turns of things like {{R from title without diacritics}} makes me think I should just "Just step away from the dabs, sir" , and leave it all alone since it appears to be working. Cheers, >MinorProphet (talk) 15:50, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
The correct way is to move UJM (disambiguation) to UJM deleting the latter in process. You can make such a request at WP:RM. Ruslik_Zero 18:06, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Page views in the last 90 days:
We don't know how common it is to look up the articles by typing UJM in the search box but "UJM" does not appear in Universal Jobmatch and I didn't find the abbreviation on the official website [1] which says UJ. It looks like Universal Japanese Motorcycle is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, and UJM has redirected there (or to a spelling variant) since the redirect was created in 2006.[2] Based on this I have added a hatnote to the target [3] and suggest keeping the redirect. I haven't looked into Transcendental Étude. PrimeHunter (talk) 18:19, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for your helpful comments. MinorProphet (talk) 12:16, 11 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Compromised password[edit]

My account appears to have been compromised at some point between 1745 and 1806 UTC yesterday evening, and a whole edit war was waged in my absence. I've just reset my password, replacing the original with a stronger one. Is there anything else I need to do? Thanks in advance, This is Paul (talk) 16:48, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@This is Paul: Are you referring to your edits at Murder of Jo Cox? At what point did you regain control of your account? I should, ideally, block your account until we can prove you are in control of it again -- There'sNoTime (to explain) 16:55, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
About fifteen minutes ago, I did a password reset so have an email I can forward if that's any help. Yes, I am referring to those edits. This is Paul (talk) 16:57, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Also a checkuser should be performed on this account. Ruslik_Zero 18:08, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wikia as reference?[edit]

Can Wikia be used for references? As in, cite from more detailed articles on Wikia.

For example;

"The Deathclaw is a fictional beast that appears in the Fallout series of games."

Could Wikia be used as a reference here or anywhere else in an article? The Egg of Reason | Talk 18:26, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

No, EggOfReason. As a self-published wiki, Wikia is not a reliable source. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 18:34, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

ADM[edit]

How I can contact a adm? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Thegreatweird (talkcontribs) 21:52, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@Thegreatweird: Might depend on the reason. If you wish to report vandalism go to WP:AIV. For other incidents you can file a report at WP:ANI, but please bear in mind that your own edits will also come under scrutiny. If this relates to your edits at Super Dark Times these have been correctly reverted IMO. On another note please do not ask questions in multiple locations. Please also sign your posts by typing four tildes (~~~~). Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 22:04, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
PS You can contact either of the Admins who deleted your creation and re-creation of a page for Owen Campbell by clicking on the red links at your talk page and then going to the Admin's talk page. Eagleash (talk) 22:15, 10 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
