Help with Images - Commons and Person Infobox[edit]

Hi There! I am a brand new editor (as of today) and I am editing a page on a volunteer basis. My first task is to replace an image in a Person Infobox. I decided to start off in my Sandbox and was able to upload the picture as a test for myself, but in the process ended up actually posting the picture to Commons when I wasn't ready, and the file name is wrong. Also, in the Infobox I really can't figure out how to replace an image. This leads me to questions: 1 - What is the easiest way to update/change an image in a Person Infobox? 2 - How can I delete, replace, or rename an image on Commons?

Please excuse any terms I might be describing incorrectly - I just started this a few hours ago!

Thanks in advance.

Pavle Stanimirović[edit]

Why was this important page earased ? What is the possible reason behind this madness this person is 100% a genuine notable person that is also a notable criminal that was sentenced and convicted by the State of NY and Fed's. He is an owner of multiple night clubs and notable Reastaurant in NYC and he is known in the Famed Jewlery 47 Street as he owned Gem Stones Trading Gallery International . He has numerous of interviews and he is in the book Betrayal in Blue as a authority on true crime and a gentleman thief. Please explain in detail and what can be done ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chateaux Margo (talkcontribs) 01:59, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Chateaux Margo. Pavle Stanimirovic was deleted after a discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pavle Stanimirovic Unless you can provide significantly better sources then were in the previously deleted version, and were mentioned in the discussion, an article will not be created. You could create Draft:Pavle Stanimirovic using the article wizard and try to lay out improved sources, and a more neutral article, but I am doubtful that it would succeed. To have a chance you would need multiple Reliable sources that are published and independent of Stanimirovic, and discuss him in some detail. Note that interviews are not considered independant, nor are blogs normally reliable sources. DES (talk)DESiegel Contribs 02:22, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hi all, I'm new to Wikipedia and need help changing an image. I need to change the Northumbria University logo on this page: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northumbria_University as it is outdated. The university is now using a new logo, which can be seen on their webpage: https://www.northumbria.ac.uk/ I have permission to use the logo - how would I go about doing this? It seems like there's an info box on the page and I'm having trouble just changing the image without getting rid of other things. Any help much appreciated, thanks.NChristou1 (talk) 14:57, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@NChristou1: I have updated Northumbria University to use File:Northumrbria University new logo.jpg. I see you also uploaded the high resolution File:Northumbria uni new logo.png. We don't allow that for copyright reasons. Is it OK if I delete that file? PrimeHunter (talk) 15:19, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@PrimeHunter: That's perfect, thank you so much. That's absolutely fine.NChristou1 (talk) 16:04, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

How to revert several vandalism edits?[edit]

The intro paragraph at food desert is broken due to several successive edits by an unregistered user; how should I go about undoing them? Should I click undo in sequence or should I request reversion from an admin (if that's how it works)?Myoglobin (talk) 16:47, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Myoglobin, Done warned IP user, reverted to stable version. Thank you for reporting. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:52, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Myoglobin: - take at look at Help:Reverting if you want to learn how to do it yourself in the future. In this particular case, you would probably follow the procedure listed under "manual reverting" MarginalCost (talk) 17:44, 3 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone tell me if my draft is submitted?[edit]

Can someone tell me if this is submitted. I made edits to make it less resume-like, but I cannot tell if or how to re-submit it? Here is the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Jay_Paul_Deratany — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChicagoSHOUT (talkcontribs) 16:53, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ChicagoSHOUT pls insert {{subst:submit}} to submit for review. Thank you. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 16:59, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) This edit, by another editor, removed the feedback (including the part that said "-- Do not remove this line! --") & comments, & in doing so removed the resubmit button. I've reverted that edit. --David Biddulph (talk) 17:02, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

2018-19 NHL season by team[edit]

Hi I Created 4 NHL Teams Carolina Hurricanes Calgary Flames Dallas Stars and New York Rangers and there should be 5 NHL Pages of 2018-19 season by team instead of just 1 Can you help me with the NHL season by team have you created any teams but why haven't you created any more NHL team by season. Let Me know now. 198.11.235.239 (talk) 22:53, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Why Didn't you Answer Me 198.11.235.239 (talk) 03:36, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't answer you because I have no interest in sport even in my own country, let alone some foreign competition. Why the other several hundreds of editors here didn't answer you I don't know, but I imagine it has something to do with the fact that somebody that I suspect is you keeps coming here and demanding that somebody do something that that person wants in Wikipedia. I see that you say you are now creating articles yourself, and I salute you for that. But the way to get collaborators on a project is to invite people in a way that makes them want to work with you. Making demands is not usually effective for that purpose. --ColinFine (talk) 19:31, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
In addition to my fellow volunteer unpaid Editor ColinFine's cogent advice, I might point out that your first question above was made at 22:53 Universal Time, which is actually 23:53 – seven minutes to midnight – in the Time zone and current Daylight saving regime where he, I and many other volunteer Wikipedia Editors live*. Your impatient follow-up was, for us, at 4:36 in the morning. Message from Wikipedia[edit]

Dear Sirs

I received a message from Jmertel23 regarding the page:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jose_Boedo

The message stated that the page was written by myself and was a personal page and thus could be deleted. However, the page was *not* created by me, but by the American Physical Society after naming me Fellow and it is not a personal page.

Since the page was very sparse with only the quotation of the Fellowship Award, I have been expanding it slowly. I believe I have been adhering to the guidelines for "Biographies of Living Persons". The page only describes the problems in physics I have worked on to receive the award and has little personal detail. I am slowly working on adding links to the relevant physics issues and I added references to scholarly papers on the work I was named Fellow for.

I will continue to add links to physics Wiki pages and to the technical and relevant web pages, assuming of course the Wiki editors agree with the propriety of the content.

My best J. Boedo — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jboedo (talkcontribs) 23:10, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Jboedo: You appear to be saying the article is about yourself. Please read WP:AUTO on the pitfalls of trying to write about yourself, which is strongly discouraged. RudolfRed (talk) 23:36, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Our "conflict of interest" guideline is not merely about creatng articles. but is rather about any editing of any article where you may have a COI. See WP:COI. COI is not a derogatory term at all, but is merely a statement of fact. An article about yourself is perhaps the clearest example. You are encouraged to comment on the article contents on the article's talk page, and even make suggestions for article improvement there, but please do not directly edit the article. We would really appreciate any help you can give us on other physics articles. Thanks. -Arch dude (talk) 00:55, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
@Jboedo: Just for completeness and correctness, as the history of the page (click here) shows, the article contains 6,731 bytes (on 31 May), of which 5,698 was added by you on 7 September 2017 in this edit: Special:Diff/799315935. So, even though actually it's not you who has created the article in Wikipedia, certainly it is written by you in overwhelming part. --CiaPan (talk) 06:30, 1 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

how do you find templates[edit]

Ddeerrss (talk) 23:12, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Ddeerrss: You have not used a template yet so I'm not sure you refer to what we call templates. They can for example be found by starting a search with template:. If you want something else then please clarify. PrimeHunter (talk) 23:21, 31 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
