Citing other Wikipedia websites

I'm contributing into articles that can be expanded from Persian (Articles needing translation from Persian Wikipedia). In Persian Wikipedia (where many articles are translated from English Wikipedia) there's a dedicated template for citing other Wikipedia websites. (fa:الگو:یادکرد-ویکی) but it seems that there is no such thing in the English wiki, I used Cite web in my latest edit but I'd like to know if there are any standard methods for this? In the English-language Wikipedia, we don't allow citations to other Wikipedia articles, since Wikipedia itself does not claim to be a reliable source. Instead, you are encouraged to use the sources from which the other Wikipedia article draws its content. --Orange Mike | Talk 02:17, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

• Mohammad, just some additional resources. While what Mike says is enshrined at WP:CIRCULAR, if you really really wish to cite Wikipedia, you should first read WP:Citing Wikipedia and then you could use Special:CiteThisPage to generate relevant citations. Thanks, Lourdes 03:41, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Edits

I’ve seen error on a specific page but cannot edit it. And I’m actually directly affiliated to the contents of the page. How can I get this fixed. Inter-language link

I want to include the following inter-language link: {{ill|Sixten Sparre|sv}} which renders as: Sixten Sparre. However, it creates a bluelink which is a redirect to the article in which I want to add the link. What to do? —107.15.157.44 (talk) 04:59, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Redlink signifies that a page does not exist. As long as there is a redirect that means the page exist, therefore you cannot display the title as a redlink. If you want force the interlanguage link to appear nonetheless, you can use |display=force. For instance {{ill|Sixten Sparre|sv|display=force}} gives Sixten Sparre – Ammarpad (talk) 06:27, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Additionally, if the page your wanted to link to should be a red link, you could this such as Sixten Sparre. This finds the article at the target,but also creates a redlink, at where the Article should be made (with disambig). I only used Journalist as an example, it might not be the right disambiguation. I have ‎restored the redirect from Sixten Sparre to Elvira Madigan which has plenty of content to justify a redirect. Wikipedia:Soft redirect says: "Soft redirects to non-English language editions of Wikipedia should be avoided because they will generally be unhelpful to English-language readers." People searching for Sixten Sparre or clicking a link in e.g. Sixten should get the English article with information about him. We shouldn't create a red link to something which already has a blue link so I also oppose Sixten Sparre. It will remain red if Sixten Sparre is changed from a redirect to an article, and it can encourage other articles to link Sixten Sparre (journalist) instead of Sixten Sparre. Ammarpad gave a working solution. A link which redirects back to the article is better than the other suggestions. People who click the link will see the article they are already on probably gives the best we have in English. If they know Swedish they can click the interlanguage link. Aquagenic urticaria page edits

I have a condition called aquagenic urticaria, meaning I suffer from urticaria (hives) on my skin when I come into contact with water. This condition is very rare, and the mechanism by which it occurs is not well understood, however there is absolutely no dispute over its existence. Despite its rarity, a number of medical sources have confirmed its characteristics (for example, many are quoted on the Rare Diseases website). Someone has recently edited the Wikipedia page on aquagenic urticaria to include a section entitled "Legitimacy of the condition", where they claim, without sources, that the disorder is psychological. As a sufferer (and somebody who appreciates accurate reporting of facts), I find this incredibly frustrating and concerning. As a minimum, I would like to ask the author to provide sources to back up their claims and/or counter what they have said with the legitimate sources I have to demonstrate that the condition is genuine. Ideally I would like to request to have the entire "Legitimacy" section removed as I believe it is neither accurate nor helpful. I have never edited a page on Wikipedia before and do not know where to start. I especially do not understand the rules around citations.  Done. I've checked a couple of the citations and they appear reliable, thereby confirming its existence. The section you objected to has no citations and was added by an IP user, so a restricted track record of editing. Lamborghini Centenario

I'm not able to move Lamborghini Centenarió to correct name which is Lamborghini Centenario. There's no acute accent in official name. There are two horns on the initial C and final O (in this fashion: `CENTENARIO´; look here) recalling bull's horns, that are iconic for Lamborghini, but it's just a stylistic solution.--Carnby (talk) 20:17, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

@Carnby: Since the one without accent redirects to the one with accent, that is why you can't move it. I suggest you discuss on the article's talk page to get consensus on which is the more appropriate article name. RudolfRed (talk) 20:21, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

@Lianne.Williams: Remember that this is a general encyclopedia, not a school publication. You might like to read the article on WP:SCHOOLCRUFT to understand why it is best to have people outside the school edit its article - otherwise the article can degenerate into self-promotion and school trivia that is not relevant to the general encyclopedia reader. As it is, most of that article comes from material that was put out by the school itself, rather than being based on independent sources; it would really benefit from the involvement of some objective editors.--Gronk Oz (talk) 01:47, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
