Ladakh

[edit]

please change ladakh to union territory as its permitted by president of india. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jayaa patil (talkcontribs)

Hello there! Welcome to Wikipedia. The page in question is semi-protected meaning you can request and edit by clicking ‘View Source’ then the blue button below. However, if you would like to request an edit, you need to provide a reliable source for verifiability - one of Wikipedia’s core policies. When I look at the page, I see that the region is ‘TBA’ in regards to it being a Union Territory (see the infobox on the right). I hope that helps, and please read the welcome message on your talk page, as this has useful introductory information. Regards, Willbb234 (talk) 06:58, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
If you would like more information on the matter, I’ll direct you here.

Vandalism only account

[edit]

Hi,

I saw an edit that a user reverted here: [1]. I checked the IP's account here [2] and found that every edit they made is vandalism. I've reverted each instance that hadn't been fixed yet. What can be done about the account? David O. Johnson (talk) 07:08, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi David O. Johnson - looks like the IP has already been temporarily blocked for vandalism, so there is nothing further to do. Best Wishes, Lee Vilenski (talkcontribs) 07:14, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict) David O. Johnson, Thanks for spotting and reverting; I've blocked the IP. You can report IPs to WP:AIV to be blocked. Galobtter (pingó mió) 07:15, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks to both of you. David O. Johnson (talk) 07:26, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Molindo12: Do you have a question about editing Wikipedia?

What Happened to the Wiki Page I Created?

[edit]

I created the 'Brampton Senators Drum & Bugle Corps' Wiki Page....but it is No Longer In WikiPedia? I am wondering WHY Was It Deleted? Can It Be Brought Back UP....or do I have to create it again.... It was A LOT of Work when I created it. I WOULD Like to SEE IT RETURNED!!! WHY Was It DEleted in the First Place I Would LOVE To HEAR WHY!!! There WAS NOT Anything Offensive on the Page. Can I Get An Answer on ITS' Deletion. Could I have been given Notice to ITS' Pending Deletion, so I Could've Copied ALL I Had Written About MY FORMER 1970's Drum Corps!!! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.232.200.171 (talk)

I see no articles(not just "page") created from your IP address, and searching for that exact page title does not indicate that such a page ever existed. If you created the article under an account(which you would have to as IPs cannot directly create articles), please log in before posting here, or provide a direct link to the article. 331dot (talk) 10:15, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Incorrect information

[edit]

Hello, I discovered incorrect information on “Gautam Buddha”. Buddha was born in Nepal. I can see that Wikipedia writes “ancient India” for Buddha’s birthplace instead of NEPAL. One of the things that world needs to know is that Gautam Buddha is Nepal’s pride. Therefore, it is disheartening to see Nepal’s name nowhere mentioned in Buddha’s Wikipedia page. This is a humble request for you to remove “ancient India” and write correctly that Buddha was born in Nepal. NEPAL was neither ever a part of India in any ancient history nor anywhere in the historical books is it written that NEPAL was a part of India. NEPAL is NEPAL and has always been that way. People like us donate to Wikipedia because we trust that it is doing a great job for wiki-followers like us and believe that the website should continue to do so. But, it is also true that we expect correct information to be shown.

On behalf of all Nepalese— Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.20.214.91 (talk)

Please visit the talk page of that article to express your concerns, along with any independent reliable sources you have to support what you say. We need more than just your word. 331dot (talk) 13:36, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Nepal is mentioned eleven times in Gautama Buddha, e.g. "According to the Buddhist tradition, Gautama was born in Lumbini, now in modern-day Nepal", "Birthplace of Gautama Buddha in Lumbini, Nepal", and "The Buddhist tradition regards Lumbini, in present-day Nepal to be the birthplace of the Buddha". PrimeHunter (talk) 14:11, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Both of the OP's assertions about the English Wikipedia article are flatly untrue.
(1) It does not state anywhere that Gautama Buddha was born in "ancient India". Under Note 4 it mentions an existing speculation that ancient Lumbini was actually a site in India, but dismisses this as being based on a spurious inscription.
(2) As PrimeHunter has observed above, far from " Nepal’s name [being] nowhere mentioned in Buddha’s Wikipedia page", the article mentions Nepal around a dozen times, including several statements that Gautama Buddha was born in Lumbini, Nepal.
It is difficult to assume the OP's good faith in view of their blatantly false assertions. This is the sole edit to date from this IP: any future ones should be scrutinised carefully. {The poster formerly known as 87.81.230.195} 2.123.24.56 (talk) 01:17, 9 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

publish an article

[edit]

Hi

I am working for a production company and I would like to publish an article about our new movie. I made the article in drafts, but as I can understand because I am a new user I am not allowed to publish the draft into wikipedias articles. so how can I get an autoconfirmed user to publish it?— Preceding unsigned comment added by STINALARSEN (talkcontribs) 14:25, 8 August 2019 14:25 (UTC)

@STINALARSEN: Please do not attempt this. Wikipedia does not exist for promotional reasons. If your company's film achieves notability (see that page for more information) and passes WP:NFILM, an article will be written about it by persons without a connection to the subject using material obtained from independent third party reliable sources. For future reference, you should also read WP:COI and WP:PAID and make any necessary declarations. Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:36, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Okay but can I publish my articles without it being a promotions, it is just information?— Preceding unsigned comment added by STINALARSEN (talkcontribs) 14:25, 8 August 2019 14:40 (UTC)

(edit conflict)@STINALARSEN:Please read WP:YFA. You have several problems, but the real show-stopper is that a new movie will not meet Wikipedia's notability requirement: see WP:N. No amount of editing can overcome a lack of notability, so your hard work will be lost when your article is deleted. If your movie does eventually become notable, then someone else will probably write an article. if not and you want to try, please read and adhere to WP:COI and WP:PAID. -Arch dude (talk) 14:43, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
STINALARSEN You should not do this. Wikipedia is not for merely providing information; this is an encyclopedia. Please reread what Eagleash ably stated above. Please review the conflict of interest policy and the paid editing policy(compliance with the latter is a Wikipedia Terms of Use requirement, please do this as soon as possible). 331dot (talk) 14:44, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)@STINALARSEN: If you post a link to the draft here, I'm sure someone will look it over for you to see if complies with Wikipedia's policies. *But*, it *must* also comply with the notability guidelines and / or pass WP:NFILM. Providing 'information' is a part of what Wikipedia does but subjects have to be 'notable' first. It is also mandatory that you read WP:PAID and make the necessary declarations before editing further. (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) Thank you. Eagleash (talk) 14:53, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@STINALARSEN: This film is atypical. It's a documentary of part of the life of Jan Grarup, who is also its director, so my shoot-from-the-hip answer above is insufficiently nuanced. I added a discussion to your talk page. -Arch dude (talk) 16:25, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Dear Sir,

I have interest to read Wikipedia matter like 6 number related matter in Telugu language ,how to change the Wikipedia in Telugu language — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eswarakhil (talkcontribs) 15:02, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Telugu version of Wikipedia can be found at this link. It is not a direct translation of the English Wikipedia, but a separate project where speakers of that language participate and write articles. 331dot (talk) 15:06, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Constructiveness of Contribution

[edit]

A recent contribution was undone: "I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Gita (mobile carrier) have been undone because they did not appear constructive"

I made some essential changes to an article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gita_(mobile_carrier): fixed incorrect technical details, fixed the capitalization of the name (always lower case), ... Why does somebody decide that these changes were not constructive? Some of the original facts were wrong.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Dreuther (talkcontribs) 8 August 2019 15:03 (UTC)

In your edit, you removed a reference without explanation. Schazjmd (talk) 15:13, 8 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Biography page appears to be monitored by the same person

[edit]

The article listed for Mike Yenni "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Yenni" includes notes in the view history that appear as first-person comments from the subject of the bio page. The changes seem to be made for the betterment of the subject.— Preceding unsigned comment added by WikiDedication (talkcontribs) 20:30, 8 August 2019 20:03 (UTC)

Acting on a RfC

Maybe not a question for this page, but is there some kind of practice for acting on mostly uncontroversial Requests for comment? I am specifically thinking of this one; I've requested a formal close here but now I am wondering if this is something someone can just action as it looks fairly clear.
