Dead Link Tags[edit]

Hi! On the Science & Environmental Policy Project in the top section of the page there is a {{dead link}} tag. However, looking at the link the tag says is dead, it looks like a bot already has a archived version of the broken link (this edit). So is it okay to removed the dead link tag? My guess on why the bot didn't remove the tag was because the dead end tag was not located within the reference. Thanks! OkayKenG (talk) 05:42, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@OkayKenji: Yes, go ahead. That tag was in the wrong place and I'm sure it isn't needed now. -- John of Reading (talk) 06:06, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

PHP7 Tag[edit]

I'm just curious as to why all my edits suddenly have a PHP7 tag next to it. I began noticing it the last little while and wonder what the significance of it is.Giantdevilfish (talk) 13:31, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Recently there was a change in the programming language from HHVM to PHP7. If you enable automatic testing of beta features, or if you manually opted in to test that one, your edits were tagged with PHP7 so the programmers could make sure it was working. I think it's no longer in beta testing and everyone is using it now, but the tag is still there for people who opted in. ~ ONUnicorn(Talk|Contribs)problem solving 13:38, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I don't recall opting in. Will it go away or do I have to edit my account to remove the tag from my edits.Giantdevilfish (talk) 13:40, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Not quite, I think. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) § All my contributions today say "Tag: PHP7".

Notability tag on Howard Backen[edit]

Hi, this is an old problem, but I'm not a frequent editor. I created a page a while back on Howard Backen. A few months later, someone tagged it, questioning the notability of the topic. I responded to it in the talk page, but the tagger never responded. Now, three years later, I ran into the article again and it's still tagged with no further discussion on it. Looking into it a bit, the original tagger's account has been blocked as a sock puppet account. I also feel like I shouldn't remove the tag since it would be a conflict of interest. Can I get a neutral person to visit the page, evaluate the tag, my argument, and let me know whether the tag/article has merit? Thanks! Cluskillz (talk) 17:35, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

 Done. I've removed the tag. Deor (talk) 18:01, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia help[edit]

Please think about your hindi peer review team members. What they are doing in the name of rules. They are distorting Wikipedia image. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gsmalhadia (talkcontribs) 17:46, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Gsmalhadia. I'm guessing that you are talking about some editors on the Hindi Wikipedia? If so, then I'm afraid they are absolutely nothing to do with us. Each language Wikipedia is an entirely separate project, and none has any authority or influence over any other. Sorry. --ColinFine (talk) 19:11, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Related to vandalism.[edit]

A editor blocks My IP adress: 223.230.146.64 whenever, I post a query related to a particular physician. That editor says I vandalise Wikipedia by asking queries related to a particular article. How can I stop him? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.138.79 (talk) 18:13, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I guess you must be referring to the edits made from 223.230.168.24 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) two weeks ago to Shamsheer Vayalil. That IP address was blocked for a 31-hour-period but is no longer blocked. If in the future you think something should be fixed, and you can't do it yourself, please post on the talk page of the article. See here: Talk:Shamsheer Vayalil. In the meantime, another editor, Eagleash, fixed the infobox so we can now see Vayalil's alma maters. Sam Sailor 20:57, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hep: fixing a mistake.[edit]

Someone look to Shamsheer vayalil Wikipedia's infobox. In that his net worth is shown 1.4 billion dollars. Again, below that infobox a line is written in which his net worth is again indicated as 1.4 billion dollars. Is that net worth in United States dollars or Australian dollars? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 223.230.138.79 (talk) 18:36, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi IP. I think it is safe to assume in most cases where nothing else is mentioned and the subject does not have close ties to a country with a dollar currency other than USD, that "$" does refer to USD. I am sure that is the case too in Shamsheer Vayalil, as the number is reported by Forbes. Sam Sailor 20:48, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Updating an educational page[edit]

I am attempting to update my institution's page - Penn State Greater Allegheny. Someone from outside the university has changed pages I made, taking away content I added. Should I be editing the page under a different account? Is there anyway to decrease the number of changes made? We are adding content that accurately reflects our campus so I am unsure what to do. Thank you.

Thank you for the clarification. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Vk gar (talkcontribs) 20:34, 7 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Vk gar: Non-encyclopedic edits like this are going to get deleted:
Located on upper campus, providing a great view of lower campus and the surrounding hill-side, McKeesport Hall is a home away from home for students coming from near by neighborhoods or across the world. A community kitchen serves as a gathering space, and students are welcomed to prepare their own meals for themselves and their friends.

Students also have access to microwaves and small refrigerators in their rooms. Professional residence coordinator staff members, and student resident assistants live in the hall and provide academic, social and cultural programming opportunities for residents and commuter students as well. A yearly tradition in McKeesport Hall involves "leaving your mark" on a mural in the gameroom. On your visit to campus, ask to see the wall and look for the signatures of someone you may know! The Fitness and Cultural Center is located next to the hall, giving students easy access to the fitness center and aerobic studio. Students living in the hall are able to bring a car to campus. Parking is offered at no additional cost, and the lot is adjacent to the hall.
