Adding an image[edit]

Hi, so I've tried multiple times to add an image to a wikipedia page "Shilpi Somaya Gowda" and it is a Wikipedia page about me, and I have the rights the image. However, it keeps getting removed. Hello, Bishopsmg. The image may only be used if the copyright owner (who is probably not you) explicitly releases it under a licence such as CC-BY-SA, which will allow anybody to reuse it for any purpose: see donating copyright materials. Furthermore, please read conflict of interest and Autobiography for why it is inappropriate for you to be editing the Wikipedia article about yourself. --ColinFine (talk) 10:13, 16 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to make language template for Western Armenian[edit]

Hi, guys! I know Template:Lang-hy exists, but I'd like to make one for Template:Lang-hyw (Western Armenian). However I get a lua error if I simply port the code from one to another. How do I get a Western Armenian one?

What lua error? I did a simple experiment of copying the content of {{lang-hy}} to {{lang-hyw}} and then previewed my sandbox with that and did not get a lua error. Because I wrote Module:Lang, if you are seeing lua errors, I want to know about them so that they can be fixed if necessary.

The lua error I get is: "Lua error in Module:Lua_banner at line 90: attempt to index field 'edit' (a nil value)."

Module:Lua banner is not part of Module:Lang. What editor are you using? Is it that abomination that is ve? Try again and save the results. Do you still see the error?

I use the regular source code editor on the webpage, using a laptop. Anyway I saved the page to Template:Lang-hyw. I still see an error... WhisperToMe (talk) 10:37, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I just purged the page; now no error so no explanation for its existence.

The template worked the whole time. The error message was displayed in the documentation where {{Lang-x/doc}} calls {{Lua}} which calls Module:Lua banner. It tries to read the page itself but if the page does not exist then it produces the error. This can apparently affect both preview before the page exists and the original save which creates the page. When the page is later purged it does exist at the time and there is no problem. Previewing {{Lua}} alone on a non-existing template page gives the same error. I will report it at Template talk:Lua. PrimeHunter (talk) 11:32, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Not yet ready for mainspace. The most obvious problems are that there are no references and no wikilinks to other articles. I suggest that you read the advice at WP:Your first article and WP:Tutorial. Use of thumbnails of copyrighted photos on Wikipedia[edit]

Greetings - -

I understand we can not include copyrighted photos in Wikipedia pages without permission.

My question is: can we include thumbnails of copyrighted photos in Wikipedia pages. This is already been deemed "legal" under "fair use" guidelines and is implemented legally on MANY online sites e.g. Google, Yahoo, etc. [ See "Are thumbnails fair use?" at https://photocopyrightlaw.com/are-thumbnails-fair-use/ ].

Seems like this should be acceptable for Wikipedia.

@ArchitectMan: in what context? on Wictionary, you need sources. Here, any assertion that is challenged must be sourced or removed, so I think a "rule of reason" applies. If you see something that is suspect, then either source it, challenge it with a {{fact}} template, or remove it. Yes :-) There were grammar examples for several years and i enhanced them with Low German, and with the modal/non-modal verbs example. I also highlighted some letters. The examples illustrated and related to the text right above them.ArchitectMan (talk) 21:49, 15 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
