August 8[edit]

I had added a genre which is horror comedy because the show had elements of horror and comedy genres but Toddst1 thinks I made this genre up when in actually that genre alreasy exists. I did not try to disrupt anything, I was adding a genre instead. Is there is anyway I can dispute his revert?

SpinnerLaserzthe2nd (talk) 01:24, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Per WP:DISPUTE, the first step is to start a discussion on the article's talk page. I myself am puzzled by Toddst1's reversion comment. How could he think you were making up a genre when the link you added is to an existing article: Comedy horror? As far as I can tell (without actually having seen the series), you are correct in your characterization. The only caveat is that the template documentation stresses the need to have a source for the genre, and that you didn't include. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:23, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Proof of Heaven Entry[edit]

Your treatment of this entry is shameful. Wikipedia is no more than a rampant source of misinformation regarding certain topics.

Wikipedia reports what reliable sources have to say on notable subjects. The Proof of Heaven article is well sourced. If you disagree with any of the content your input would be welcome the talk page of that article. Please cite reliable sources to back up your claims.--Shantavira|feed me 08:01, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

changing the title of the wikipedia page Nisha Rajagopal to Nisha Rajagopalan[edit]

Hi There is a wikipedia page : Nisha Rajagopal We just want to change the title of the page to Nisha Rajagopalan

Please help me as to how to do it... I have a wikipedia account, when I login, I do not see the Move option at the top right (probably because I do not have some user rights???). As a result I am unable to change the title as mentioned above.

Please help. Email me: Wikichampmvs Wikichampmvs (talk) 03:27, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Four of the six references call her Rajagopal, including the most authoritative, The Hindu, twice. Clarityfiend (talk) 05:27, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Usuaully WP:COMMONNAME applies, but this is a special case of Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons so I deferred to her Instagram/facebook names which indeed had Rajagopalan. Shushugah (he/him • talk) 01:09, 12 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

"External link to a site registered on Wikipedia's blacklist or Wikimedia's global blacklist"[edit]

I am trying to publish a new article but the follow message appears: "Blacklisting indicates past problems with the link, so any requests should clearly demonstrate how inclusion would benefit Wikipedia. The following link has triggered a protection filter: 10 Either that exact link, or a portion of it (typically the root domain name) is currently blocked."

The problem is that it doesn't tell me which link is on the blacklist.

How can I found which link is on the blacklist? — Preceding unsigned comment added by LuisaGoncalves2021 (talkcontribs)

sandbox move[edit]

I created a page in my sandbox and tried to move it to a Wikipedia page but must have incorrectly filled out my move function: all I got was a User:Fibroblastic/myofibroblastic tumors in my sandbox and can't fix this problem. I badly need HELP here and will check back regularly for it. Thanks Joflaher (talk) 18:00, 8 August 2021 (UTC)joflaher[reply]

You asked this question at the Teahouse. Please be patient and wait for an answer there, and don't ask your question in multiple places. It creates duplicate effort for the volunteers who answer questions. Thanks. RudolfRed (talk) 18:18, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

My article has been accepted. What is my next step?[edit]

Hello I need help with what im supposed to do next. my draft Moze_(surname) has been approved and accepted. This is my first article and I just need to know what my next step is to get my article published? thanks! Christopher87292 The reviewer placed your draft in the encyclopedia and it is now an article. There isn't anything in particular that you need to do, unless you have ideas as to other articles that might need a link to the one you created. 331dot (talk) 19:06, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Mark Wallace (businessman)[edit]

I would like clarification on why the following article was deleted and how to recover it so that I can make adjustments so that it meets Wikipedia Guidelines. Despite the message left on my talk page, the article was deleted without being given an opportunity to revise it.

I worked very hard on this and would like to know, what specifically was the issue. I've been a Wikipedia editor for years and never encountered a situation like this where an article was just deleted without being given a opportunity to make revisions. I was careful to make sure that the article was neutral, encyclopedic in tone, and contained relevant references. I was not a paid editor for this article; furthermore, I don't know him and I'm not personally acquainted with him. This businessman is one of the top CEO's in the country, so he should have a bio on Wikipedia.

The article was deleted by User talk:jimfbleak. Here is the note left on my talk page:

Speedy deletion nomination of Mark Wallace (businessman)[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mark Wallace (businessman), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. It sounds as if it's not "revision" that's needed, but starting again from the beginning. First, find at least three reliable independent published sources with extensive discussion of Wallace – not mere listings, not reports of what he has said, not things originating from a business connected with him. Forget everything you happen to know about him, including what he and his associates have told you. Then write an article based only on what those sources say, citing them as you go. Maproom (talk) 19:37, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Maproom:That's exactly what I did! I included over 25 citations from legit news sources, including national sources like Forbes, etc --nearly every statement was cited. And just to clarify: I don't know him; he is one of the most recognized CEOs in the Texas Medical Center and in the US Healthcare industry. The article was written from scratch. As a veteran Wikipedia contributor with a history of valuable contributions, I'm simple requesting feedback as to how I can get this article restored. Could use some help &lrt;redacted> for the subject. Thanks. Supermann (talk) 20:31, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Supermann As the draft was rejected, there is nothing else that you or anyone can do about it at this time, except for approaching the reviewer directly which I believe you have done. I would suggest at least temporarily dropping this matter and moving to something else. 331dot (talk) 20:33, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Would AfD help in any shape or form? If it somehow survives deletionists. Thanks. Supermann (talk) 20:46, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Eight times rejected and you still soldier on?? The Banner talk 20:49, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Supermann: this is already being discussed at the WP:TEAHOUSE, there is no need to split the discussion to here. I don't see how AfD would help here. I'd echo 331dot's advices. Isabelle 🔔 20:50, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

lightly refacrored to remove rather blatant canvassing for people who think the same way this user does. Beeblebrox (talk) 21:02, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Supermann:Please read WP:CSMN as you have been asked to do at least eight times times now. Until you provide at least two sources that meet our criteria, this article will not succeed. There is only one thing you can do: please see WP:AMOUNT. -Arch dude (talk) 00:08, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
misplaced argument
I have read those two essays in fact, despite they go against the "Wikipedia has no firm rules" in the Wikipedia:Five pillars. I added his lead roles stage performances below. How is that still not notable? Like you and me could have been cast to play these roles? Notability says, "Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television shows, stage performances, or other productions;" How come his partial filmography that I listed can't be considered? I feel like there is huge lost in translation here.
In 2002, Stephen appeared as the lead role George Barber, who believes he has an infinite number of lives, in the Scottish premiere of Possible Worlds by award-winning Canadian playwright John Mighton.[1]
In 1999, Stephen played the lead role of Billy the chef in award-winning Welsh playwright Abi Morgan's early work Fast Food in which his performance was praised.[2]
Stephen also played the lead role of Morris Townsend at award-winning director Michael Colgan's and Michael Rudman's 1997 version of The Heiress which is adapted from the novel Washington Square.[3] Supermann (talk) 00:56, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
And how come Rory Keenan has a page when Stephen Hogan can't? Supermann (talk) 01:02, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

redoing article on Aetius (philosopher)[edit]

I wish to completely redo the article on the philosopher and doxographer Aetius. Is there a way to do that by submitting a wholly new text, rather than trying to modify the present article. The article is seriously inadequate as presently formulated and cannot easily be modified to make it better. I am the co-editor of the recent new edition of Aetius’s work the Placita: J. Mansfeld and D. T. Runia, Aëtiana V: An Edition of the Reconstructed Text of the Placita with a Commentary and a Collection of Related Texts, 4 vols., Philosophia Antiqua 153 (Leiden: Brill, 2020). David Runia Dtrunia (talk) 21:12, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Dtrunia. Your first step ought to be to write a critique of the current version at Talk:Aetius (philosopher). I know nothing about the topic but I do know how Wikipedia works. Normally, we would only eliminate the current text if it is a complete hoax with no accurate or relevant content. For example, are all of the references, sources and external links now in the article spurious and of no value? If so, make that case on the talk page. Otherwise, improve the article by expanding it by summarizing what better sources say about the philosopher. If some parts are incorrect, make your case clearly on the talk page. Wikipedia is a collaborative project and about ten editors have made significant contributions to this article since 2007. It is difficult for me to believe that nothing of value came out of all of that effort, and to wipe out all their work is something generally to be avoided. I noticed that before today, your Wikipedia edits have been limited to your biography and that of your father. Please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest especially the subsection WP:SELFCITE and Wikipedia:Expert editors and Wikipedia:Autobiography. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 21:55, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Another thing you might try is to create the proposed change in your sandbox, or in a sub-page of your user page, and then go to the article's talk page and propose your change for others to review or discuss. Focus on the section that you believe needs the most work and start with that rather than the whole article. ~Anachronist (talk) 22:26, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the article has one section. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:56, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I know nothing about the topic either, but I agree it's not a well written article. Like Cullen I recommend reading WP:SELFCITE and Wikipedia:Expert editors and follow their spirit. Consider WP:BOLD, but, you know, start slowly. Write a section, wait see if anything happens for a couple of days, repeat. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 07:17, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
