Vandalism help request from 2600:1702:3E80:8A60:CD74:5B0B:FF:8235

Editing my page

I have edited my page previously, and I wanted to find the changes to my writings, but only to find that they were still the same. I later found out that they appeared on another wikipedia page but still under my account. My expectation was that when I edit a document it will automatically change. Wbetkwa I'm not clear on what you are asking. The only page you have ever edited according to your contribution history is your user page. What page were you trying to edit? Did you do so while logged out, perhaps? 331dot (talk) 12:15, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Your edits are at Special:Contributions/Wbetkwa and your user page is User:Wbetkwa. Your changes are all reflected in the current version of the page. If you see an old version then bypass your cache. PrimeHunter (talk) 15:45, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Help Needed if my first written article is publishable

Wikipedia content on Lulu.com

I have read several help articles, but it is not clear (to me) how to proceed if an article appears to have been used in a published book without attribution. The text of Frédéric Bazille has been used, mostly verbatim, in the book Frederic Bazille: 66 Paintings and Drawings, (self-)published by Lulu.com. The article has developed gradually, through the input of many editors since 2002; the book was published in 2014. The author, Maria Tsaneva, has dozens of these books, published 2013–2015, and selling for $1.99. How does one proceed with this? Leschnei (talk) 15:35, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

• @Leschnei: Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks#Non-compliance_process mostly applies, even though it is mostly intended for online copyvios. Long story short: there are many of them and the WMF does not hold legal standing to pursue copyright claims (and presumably does not intend to help editors pursue theirs). Some publishers take copyvio from Wikipedia seriously Leschnei, as in the example noted at WT:WikiProject_Chemistry#Plagiarism_in_Elsevier_book. However, for a self-published book I don't think there is much that can be done. Mike Turnbull (talk) 17:03, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

That's a very interesting read. I don't have access to the full book (and I'm not willing to spend $1.99!), so it is possible that it mentions Wikipedia on a page that is not available in the preview. @Leschnei: I see nothing to prevent you from adding a review of this book at Lulu.com. You can find it with a google search that includes lulu.com and the name of the book. Hi Leschnei. I have made a number of copyright infringement claims for my own writing here. It doesn't always work but occasionally it has. You're right, without being able to see the book, to in turn check whether they're providing suitable credit under the free license (sometimes licenses) we agree our submission are released under, there's no way to know whether a claim is appropriate. When I've done this for paper books, I started with the text of the Wikipedia:Standard CC-BY-SA violation letter and Wikipedia:Standard license violation letter and tailored for the context. Certainly it would be useful to have a page dedicated to example infringement claims directed at paper sources, and link to that from the compliance page linked above. Mid size pick-up truck

I presently own a 2004 Dodge Dakota club cab pick-up truck 4x4. It's been a wonderful truck but it's starting to show it's age. I'm looking to get something the same (used). I was disappointed to learn that the Dakota was discontinued in 2011. What should I be looking for around the same size I had? Hi Sinarchi. Copy and paste this at the top of the draft and save {{subst:submit}}. Doing so will submit the draft for review at articles for creation. Editing interface

Hello, when I try to edit, it shows the preview and the editing box at the bottom. How do I switch it to the other enhanced interface that doesn't show the preview and allows for automatic citations, etc? Thanks, EDG 543 (message me) 20:58, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

@PrimeHunter: No, that's not it. I used to click on the "edit button" and I would just be in the editor, with the Publish Changes button in the top right corner. Now, my editor is below a preview of the page with the Publish Changes button down below the editor. I really don't know how to fix it. Thanks, EDG 543 (message me) 21:29, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

(edit conflict) @EDG 543: Like PrimeHunter pointed out, you may be looking for the VisualEditor, which can be activated in your Preferences. Go to the Editing tab and uncheck "Temporarily the visual editor while it is in beta". Note that this editor only works naturally for pages in certain namespaces, like the mainspace, Draft, and User. Conversely, you may be talking about the 2017 wikitext editor? —Tenryuu 🐲 ( 💬 • 📝 ) 21:33, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

VisualEditor and the 2017 wikitext editor both have a "Publish changes" button at the top right. The latter is enabled at "New wikitext mode" at Special:Preferences#mw-prefsection-betafeatures. PrimeHunter (talk) 21:39, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Images in hyperlinks

I know I was here recently, but I seem to can't find an exact answer to this question. Why is it that some hyperlinks (I'm referring to when you hover over a blue link and you're given a snippet of the article, whatever those are called) appear with an image and others don't? For example, Paper Mario: Color Splash has an image and Paper Mario: Sticker Star doesn't. And, is there any way to override this? Panini^🥪 21:23, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

@Panini!: I don't see an image for either link. Maybe you have Wikipedia:Tools/Navigation_popups enabled in your preferences? RudolfRed (talk) 21:29, 15 February 2021 (UTC)

Panini!, you are referring to the image in the little popup when the link is hovered over, right? Firstly, for me, neither of your Mario wikilinks displays an image in the popup... But no, I'm pretty sure there is nothing you can do about that. The image pops up sometimes, sometimes it doesn't. Another editor may know better than me, though.
