September 1[edit]

Dear Wikipedia,

Ref. number 23 is a book and I cannot work out how to do the "pp" for the 2 pages that are referenced. Please help and leave in the quotes. Thank you so much 49.3.153.231 (talk) 01:07, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! You can change |page=62, 553 to |pages=62, 553 which will change the output from "p. 62, 553" to "pp. 62, 553". See Template:Cite book#In-source locations for more details. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 02:03, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks 49.3.153.231 (talk) 02:14, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Also, you may wish to tie <ref name="Pirgos Press"/> to some actual referent. -- Hoary (talk) 08:08, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Ref error  Fixed. The last edit made removed a file which contained the defined ref name. Eagleash (talk) 09:29, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Template misbehavior[edit]

The Expanse (TV series) has a redlinked category, "Award Winners Announced". By process of elimination, I've tracked it down to the second use of the Update after template in the Accolades section. The first use doesn't cause a problem. Someone with more technical knowledge will have to take it from here. Clarityfiend (talk) 09:15, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Clarityfiend: Template:Update after allows you to specify categories for the article to be sorted into when it's in need of updating, in this article someone had used the parameter for random notes though - I've removed them here 192.76.8.74 (talk) 09:36, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. Clarityfiend (talk) 04:58, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Semi Protect Edit Request[edit]

There is a page Rajnandgaon in that page there is a paragraph https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajnandgaon#Notable_people so you have to remove notable people list and add this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:People_from_Rajnandgaon as main article template because Reason 1 - It is a list of miscellaneous information so it have to removed Reason 2 - If we add a catergory we don't have to add citiations Reason 3 - There are not some names which are in the catergory Reason 4 - In the list someone write 1 name for 2,3 times so it is neccessary to to add that main page and remove it 49.36.43.167 (talk) 12:24, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, IP from Bhopal, I'm not completely sure what you are saying, - we don't embed categories into articles, although we can link to them: but I have removed the duplicate names - Arjayay (talk) 12:44, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism help request from Sentientwo[edit]

I have noticed some vandalism at House of Sabah. Namely, the history section does not focus on the history of the family and focuses on a non neutral account of historical scandals in the country of Kuwait. Would an editor please assist me with fixing it? Thank you, Sentientwo (talk) 13:26, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Sentientwo, you should discuss the issue on the article's talk page, detailing what you consider to be vandalism. Maproom (talk) 14:58, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ganiyu Abiodun Johnson[edit]

I submitted an article with the subject title above since 11th June 2021.

I did not receive any acknowledgement and it hasn't been published yet.

Just wanted to know the status of the article pls.

Thanks as I look forward to your swift response.

Baggio1 You created a draft at Draft:Baggio, but it lacks the technical information required to submit it; this is provided if you use Articles for Creation to create and submit a draft. If you were to submit your draft as it is now, it would be rejected quickly, as it has no independent reliable sources to support its content. A Wikipedia article about a person must summarize what independent reliable sources with significant coverage have chosen on their own to say about the person, showing how they meet the special Wikipedia definition of a notable person. Wikipedia is not a place to merely tell about someone. Please review Your First Article. 331dot (talk) 13:38, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Baggio1 Hi there! If you are Johnson or have any relationship with Johnson, please see Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide. If you wish to continue with the draft, it needs work to have it conform to Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Biography. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 15:38, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxgroup[edit]

How do I make sure that (on desktop) 4 userboxes are shown in a row using Userboxgroup template? Thank you Nsn2635 (talk) 14:56, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Nsn2635: How about something like this:
{{Userboxgroup
|title=Nsn2635's Userboxes
|collapsed=True
|content={{User in South Asia}}
{{User:AkshayAnand/India}}
{{User in Karnataka}}
{{User Bangalore}}
}}
which produces:
Nsn2635's Userboxes
This user lives in South Asia.
This user is a proud
Citizen of India
This user lives in the Indian state of Karnataka.
This user lives in or hails from Bangalore.

Queries regarding block account[edit]

I'm facing trouble editing on my Hindi Wikipedia Page. Why my Hindi Wikipedia is Blocked? Why I'm unable to create new account? — Preceding unsigned comment added by &watiMi&hra (talkcontribs) 16:18, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Multilingual links without going to mobile pages?[edit]

I am looking for a way to provide a single URL that will then, based on the browser's language, redirect to the correct Wikipedia language page. Help:Interlanguage links#Multilingual links and QR codes says that this can be done with https://qrpedia.org/. "For example: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat, if changed to https://en.qrwp.org/Cat, will be redirected in a french browser to https://fr.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chat."

This is exactly what I want…except that it only redirects to the mobile versions of the pages, even if you are on a desktop web browser. Is there any way to create a link that will direct to a desktop version of a language's Wikipedia page? (It's okay if it redirects to a mobile version on a mobile browser, but I want it to go to a desktop version on a desktop browser). -Thunderforge (talk) 17:35, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Thunderforge: For more technical requests like this, it is recommended that you go to Wikipedia:Village pump. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 17:59, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Timtempleton: So I should repost this in Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)? -Thunderforge (talk) 18:03, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Thunderforge: Yes - that looks like the best place. But check the archives first to see if it's been discussed before. TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 18:11, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

How do I start a discussion with another user on the talk page?[edit]

I would like to discuss something with User:Materialscientist. But I would like to know how to start a discussion.

Just go to User talk:Materialscientist and click at the top where it says "new section". (Please remember to sign your posts on talk pages by typing four keyboard tildes like this: ~~~~. Or, you can use the [ reply ] button, which automatically signs posts.) TimTempleton (talk) (cont) 17:56, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Image links in a navbox?[edit]

Is it acceptable to include image links in a navbox? I find that there is an image of Brunel's tide gauge. The image is used in the Royal Albert Bridge article, but the gauge itself is not mentioned. It is, however, an interesting item created by Brunel, so I would like to add a link to the image into the {{Brunel}} navbox, possibly as a sub-item to the Royal Albert Bridge.--Verbarson (talk) 19:35, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Navigation templates serve to facilitate navigation between closely related articles. Therefore links to images should not be included. Ruslik_Zero 19:48, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you.--Verbarson (talk) 19:58, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

References[edit]

Hello wikipedia, I am looking to improve some wikipedia pages. Is there a way to import references from a citation manager? I am hoping for many citations but also note that putting them in all the small fields with the citation tool can be somewhat tedious. I had created 'preferred walking speed' many years ago as a graduate student and am happy it has mostly stood the test of time, but don't remember how I did it at the time. Looking for some brief advice, Thanks Richgellis (talk) 20:16, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Richgellis: Hi there! You can use automated tools, such as Citation bot, Reflinks, or reFill - as long as you check their suggested edits and fix any errors. Happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:25, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Salisbury Police Department edits removed by someone not associated with our agency[edit]

Salisbury Police Department (North Carolina) (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Hello, I updated our police department's presence on Wikipedia, after viewing misleading information on a particular law enforcement case. I then added notable initiatives with the department from our website. DanCherek then flagged our page and all of our edits were removed. Everything written there was written by our staff. There is no copyright issue. I'd like our edits returned or the page deleted in its entirety. Please advise. Linda McElroy Communications Director City of Salisbury — Preceding unsigned comment added by COSComm (talkcontribs) 21:31, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@COSComm: Hi Linda! As described on your user talk page, we cannot copy text from a website to a Wikipedia article due to copyright restrictions. Note that the City of Salisbury does not own the content of the Wikipedia article Salisbury Police Department (North Carolina), and you may not directly edit the article due to your conflict of interest. If you choose to follow the instructions on your talk page to change your username and continue working to improve the article, you may user the {{request edit}} template on Talk:Salisbury Police Department (North Carolina) to suggest improvements to the article (preferably with independent sources). Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 21:50, 1 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question about article[edit]

Good evening,

Some days ago I published an article about my grandfather "Ezequiel Antonio Cuevas Mederos" and I received a message telling me to change a line in it in order to be published.

I don't know if the article is now correct and if it will be published in Wikipedia. Please let me know if there is something else that I need to do or if I only have to wait for it to be published.

Thanks for your help.

--Ezcuevas (talk) 23:19, 1 September 2021 (UTC)Ezequiel P. Cuevas Valladares[reply]

@Ezcuevas: Hello Ezcuevas. This is the English language Wikipedia, you wrote your article on the Spanish language project. Each language project is completely independent, so editors here cannot help you with your draft I'm afraid. you will need to ask for help on the Spanish project. 192.76.8.74 (talk) 00:03, 2 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
