Tag missing[edit]

Hello. I noticed that this is an orphan, and I was going to use twinkle to tag it as an orphan, as there isn't a tag present. But as I went to do this, twinkle (and verification by the source) shows me that the tag is present, but isn't showing up on the article. I could probably fix this by removing the tag and readding it, but I wanted to make this aware to someone by telling them in case this is part of a larger issue. @Cherrell410: Interesting question. I found that {{Orphan}} by default it is only visable for a couple of months, and then the tag becomes invisible but the article still shows up in the Orphan category. RudolfRed (talk) 02:14, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

-- the subject of this article strikes me as mere "leadership" twaddle. I'm about to follow the article The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People in adding Category:Self-help books. (Anyone who disagrees is of course free to remove it.) The closer I look at this article the worse it seems; however, a look in Google Scholar (!) suggests that there's at least enough quasi-academic material about its subject for it to squeak through an AfD. Perhaps life's too short for me to spend mine on AfDs. Editing a Wikipedia page for a living person[edit]

Three times I have been editing the page of "J. Peter Toennies". The text I added was written by Peter Toennies himself and I had added this to the authors comment. And three times this change had been eliminated. How to proceed in order to edit this Wikipedia page? The article Jan Peter Toennies is a bit of a train wreck and I'm not sure that it even meets the general notability guideline in its current form. Any additions need to have reliable sourcing, and persons with a conflict of interest should avoid editing it.--♦IanMacM♦ ^{(talk to me)} 15:37, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The general answer is that Wikipedia is not interested in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is only interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. Unless you can find an independent source for what he wants to say, it almost certainly doesn't belong in Wikipedia. ColinFine (talk) 15:48, 26 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Policy/guideline question[edit]

If you're looking for a template or other code to put on a page to do what you ask, I don't know if there's anything you can do, but you CAN use {{If mobile}} to selectively show content to visitors (including soft redirects, but not normal redirects), if that's what you're looking for.
