Help needed with disaster of an article: Battle of Tilpat (1669)[edit]

Hi all, I've had this page on my watchlist for a bit as it is the constant target of disruptive vandalism, but it's gotten to a point where I have no idea what revision to revert it to.

The article is constantly, constantly being edited to change the names of different ethnic groups, change the winner of the battle, change the leaders, the casualties, everything really.

My question is, should the article just be deleted and started again from scratch? I don't think any content that's currently there can be trusted, as it's all been disruptively twisted in every direction so many times. GraziePrego (talk) 01:30, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

As it stands, the article seems to be largely a copy-paste of one of the sources cited, and will have to be revision-deleted. WP:DYNAMITE may well be the best option. AndyTheGrump (talk) 01:40, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I deleted some revisions based on obvious copyvio, and I assume you and I were identifying the same bits. If anyone comes across more copyvio (in the present version or in the history), please use Template:Copyvio-revdel. Firefangledfeathers (talk / contribs) 02:16, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

ribbon bar[edit]

How do I add a ribbon bar to somebody's military history page so I can show their honours and awards?

Thank you!! 2604:3D09:658A:7400:E041:FD47:3D56:592B (talk) 04:08, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi there! Looking at the wikicode for Mark Milley#Awards and decorations, it seems to be a table (see Help:Tables) containing multiple {{ribbon devices}} templates. GoingBatty (talk) 05:32, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to update company page ?[edit]

I want to update my company page on wikipedia Mindwalk Official (talk) 07:01, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure what this means, but User:Mindwalk Official isn't suitable because it is basically a promo piece for a company. Wikipedia user pages are not articles, and should only contain basic information about the user.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 07:11, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

How to move a page without leaving a redirect?[edit]

How to move a page without leaving a redirect? 112.120.56.105 (talk) 07:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It's done in the same way as leaving a redirect, simply with the "leave a redirect" box unchecked. IP users can't move articles/pages though, you need to request it at Requested Moves. 331dot (talk) 07:39, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Don't you need to be an extended mover to be able to move without redirects? jp×g 08:56, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@331dot and JPxG: That's correct. The software doesn't show me that checkbox. -- John of Reading (talk) 09:36, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, okay. In that case, just nominate the redirect for speedy deletion. (See WP:RCSD). 331dot (talk) 09:53, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Could the new file of David Martineau (old portrait) be made smaller please - could it be removed to the right hand side of the page as well please? Thank you in advance175.38.42.62 (talk) 08:48, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

 Done - Yes. jp×g 08:55, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Done, and other images adjusted to conform with MOS:IMAGELOC, MOS:IMAGESIZE and MOS:SANDWICH. There are probably too many images towards the bottom of the article. Bazza (talk) 09:13, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Should the title of this page be italicised? If I am not mistaken, "Chiaroscuro" is a (Italian) term in common usage, so it should not be italicised. JackkBrown (talk) 13:51, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

The term is considered anglicized (eg it's in my English dictionaries) so it would not be italicized. See Wikipedia:ITALICTITLE for more information. Shantavira|feed me 14:02, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Charlie Carrick[edit]

Hello,

I recently created the article Charlie Carrick on the English Wikipedia. I'm aware that there is an article in the Spanish Wikipedia about the same subject. How do I add both the English and Spanish articles together? The Film Creator (talk) 15:19, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@The Film Creator:  Done at Wikidata with this edit. GoingBatty (talk) 15:31, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Referencing errors on List of 2024 albums[edit]

Reference help requested. how do i fix the errors? Thanks, 84.71.9.180 (talk) 16:42, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Drop the group=4 from the <ref> tags to clear the error. See the Help Article linked at the bottom of the page for more info. WelpThatWorked (talk) 17:19, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There were a couple more errors. The url to the source was duplicated in the |ref= parameter (which is used for internal anchors for {{sfnp}}), as well as prior to the reference itself. Everything is displaying correctly now. Folly Mox (talk) 17:22, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Category, Multiple Pages >>> View As Single Page[edit]

Hello,

I was wondering if it is possible to view a Category's Multiple Pages as a Single Page? Consider the instance of the Category being subdivided by Alphabetical Origination. A, B, C, etc... Rather than clicking through each letter, is there a way one could view all the of pages of the category at once?

Please and thank you. 75.245.42.78 (talk) 17:20, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

IP editor: Help:Category suggests that this should be possible but I've not got personal experience of the suggestions it makes, such as using Special:CategoryTree. Mike Turnbull (talk) 19:39, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
There is a tool called Petscan that can do this, I believe. jp×g 21:42, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, documentation at WP:PET. Mike Turnbull (talk) 21:48, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ref number 9 is in red and I cannot fix it as I will no longer have this device once I've finished this request. Please fix up the red if you can. Thanks you and good bye 175.38.42.62 (talk) 23:17, 6 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There was a typo in the date, which I fixed. In preview, there is still a message about some hidden cite journal errors, which I don't understand, perhaps another editor will be interested to look at that. RudolfRed (talk) 00:06, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@RudolfRed:  Fixed by changing them from {{cite journal}} to {{cite web}}. GoingBatty (talk) 02:30, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
