Connecticut 40 shilling note

A 40 shilling note from Connecticut Colony, the English colony that became the U.S. state of Connecticut. The Connecticut pound was introduced in 1709 to replace the British pound. Three series of paper money – known as "Old Tenor", "New Tenor", and "Lawful Money" – were issued before the pound was discontinued in favor of the United States dollar in 1793.
