Wikipedia:Requests for feedback/2011 April 8

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I know this page doesn't look that great, but this guy wrote a song that inspired a whole city and I know that he needs to be on wikipedia. I just don't know how to keep him here

Greetings, this article is not yet ready for prime-time since, as written, it does not meet Wikipedia:Notability (people). So I moved it to your Userspace so you can work on the draft without it being in danger of deletion. Had it stayed in the main published article spaces, it would've been deleted shortly for lack of documentation of notability. Please read up on the linked policy if you'd like to get this article published. MatthewVanitas (talk) 05:05, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Following article iis about IBS Group, I wanted to create this page because there was no information in regards to the company. Please help me to post this article. Thank you

Once again hello, Thank you for providing with feedback, it was helpful, hence i have couple questions, I've added lots of different references, and external links, showing that information is outsourced, and that im not byes, my goal is to make sure, that information on IBS group is genuine and relevant on Wikipedia web site. I've used many different sources, including home page of the IBS group. Also i would like to note that IBS group already has its page on ru.wikipedia.org Could you please once more look through and come back with feedback. Thank you!

Greetings, the article is not ready for publication, as it does not establish Notability using neutral, third-party reliable sources. Please familiarise yourself with Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Also, your username indicates an association with the subject, so please read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. These issues have to be addressed before anything else. MatthewVanitas (talk) 15:44, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, you've added a decent number of external sources. I'd advise you make a few basic upgrades and then publish (move the article to just the title, minus your "User" opening). What you need to do is clarify the text of your footnotes: that is, where is just says "Prospectus", expand that to "Prospectus - 2010, IBSgr.org", just to give some notion of the date and the source. Similarly "“LUXOFT Named a Finalist for Offshoring Operation of the Year”" should end with the date of publication/announcement and "at Russoft.org". Just to give clarity to the footnotes as to the date of information, and what site published it. This is particularly important to clarify which pages are IBS and which are external. Please do not remove the COI tag yourself, since you personally are the COI. You just have to wait until somebody unaffiliated with IBS does some work on the article; it can still publish, but it just has to be caveated for the time being. Following article is about Param Shradhey Shri Radhe Maa, I wanted to create this page because there was no information available about her. Please help me to post this article. Thank you

Shriradhemaa (talk) 10:18, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, your article does not yet meet Wikipedia standards, so in order to prevent it from being deleted I have moved it to you Userspace so that you can work to improve your draft there. Among the issues the article needs to address:
  • It does not demonstrate the notability of the subject using neutral, third-party references. Please carefully read this fundamental policy guideline for biographies: Wikipedia:Notability (people).
  • It does not include any WP:wikilinks to other Wikipedia articles, so is not integrated into the larger body of Wikipedia.
  • Note that its categories appear in red, not blue, indicating that there are no such categories as "Religious / Spiritual Gurus, Devi Maa, Living Goddess, Radhe Maa". Please observe the existing categories and apply categories that currently exist.
  • The article is written with a bias in favour of the subject and belief in her abilities (see WP:POV). Wikipedia articles must be neutral and objective; phrases like "Through her Kripa-Drishti the path of Humanity, Honesty and Positive Thinking becomes easy!" are subjective and thus not encyclopedic.
If you would like this article to be included on Wikipedia, please address these issues and then file a new Request for Feedback on the RfF page for that day. MatthewVanitas (talk) 13:17, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't get my article pushlished it gets flagged and removed immediatly after submission. Any help would be much apprieciated.

I can't see the article content since it is gone, but presumably the proposing and approving editors found the article to have primarily promotional, vice educational, value, or else you simply failed to establish notability using neutral, third-party references (see Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies)). What I recommend you do is go to Wikipedia:Requests for undeletion and request "userification"; that is, to take your article and move it to your personal userspace where you can work on it in draft form to see if you can address all issues before re-publishing the article. I recommend you get your draft userified, and then you can come back here and ask us to look at it, as we cannot see deleted articles unless they're restored. I made an article about Eleanor "Nellie" Zabel Willhite. It would be cool if somebody would review it. Thanks.

Dante8 (talk) 16:16, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Reviewed; looks good overall, but you have an issue with WP:Link rot. You can use WP:REFLINKS to fix links, and http://reftag.appspot.com to fix GoogleBooks links. I ran one gBooks link through RefTag for you as an example; it turns a link into a nice clean footnote. So please fix your footnote citations, and that's about it. Note that if you can find any photo of the subject, despite copyright you might be able to use the image under Wikipedia:Fair use, so if interested read up on the guidelines for using a low-res photo of a deceased person. Nice work overall. MatthewVanitas (talk) 16:26, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Trying to get my first article live. Please provide feedback to help make sure I've done everything correctly. If it can be considered ready I also need help moving it to its live location. ty

Ok I've made all the corrections listed bellow, can someone please review my page and publish it if it is ready to go live. ty.MrGVaughan (talk)

MrGVaughan (talk) 17:16, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Couple things:
  • We don't refer to people by honorific (Mr, Dr, etc.), so after the first mention of his name he's just "Humes" from then on.
  • Add a bullet whenever you list items, such as your External links section
  • You need to add categories; see WP:Categories. Cats must be as specific as possible, so not "Canda" and "government" but "Liberal party politicians of Ontario", or whatever the currently-existing category is called. Also use the cats for "19XX births" and "Living people" as standard. Once that's done, post back here and I'll move it to the main article spaces ("publish") for you. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:47, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, and for your footnotes; for those links which are to news articles, could you include the date? Thanks. MatthewVanitas (talk) 17:56, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I've just published this article and would like feedback. Thank you!

OceanVolunteer (talk) 17:59, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Decent overall; needs more foonotes, you should probably bullet the list of coordinates (just add an asterisk before each line), and you need to add Categories. Is there a less clumsy way to format the title? Are they referred to as one entity by that long name, or are we really talking about two separate things. If you happen to live around this area, some pictures would be awesome, though if you can find any pics from US Federal sources, those are automatically out of copyright, so you can add any Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, Dept. of the Interior, etc. pics you can find online. I belong to village DIWIPARANGI in India, Maharashtra. It took five day for me to generate this draft. The procession of our Village Goddess JAKHMATA is getting celebrated on 22-April-2011. I Request all of you, please approve this at the earliest, Thanks. Gypco (talk) 18:05, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, the article needs extensive copyediting, formatting, and sourcing. First, remove all bolding except for the initial instance of the subject name. Second, turn all the ALL CAPS words into regular-capitalisation. Next, use Google and GoogleBooks to look for reputable, published sources (books, academic journals, newspapers) which substantiate facts stated in the article, and turn these into footnote citations (see WP:Footnotes). We've fixed the title, and added and infobox and categories to start you out. Feel free to come back with any questions. MatthewVanitas (talk) 18:48, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Would like some feedback on the stub Frederick Widder. Pre-conferation Canadian History; Upper Canada. I particularly wanted him added as a Canada Company executive because he is sympathetic to responsible government cause and to the issues surrounding pioneers and the financing of their land in Upper Canada. This is quite unlike most Canada Company Commissioners. Thanks in advance.

Done Looks good, no worries. I made a small formatting change, but that's about it. Don't forget to add {{WikiProject Canada}} to the Discussion tab. MatthewVanitas (talk) 19:18, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I made an article about Rebecca Dubowe. It would be great if somebody could review it. Thanks.

Done Content actually looks really good, except that I'm not sure the name of the court is its standard name, since I can't find a Wiki article about that court; can you check on that? I fixed a few minor format issues. The main thing is that you need to work the Wiki footnoting system. Right now your "footnotes" are just ref-tagged sources at the bottom; what you want to do is turn those into actual footnotes. Please read WP:Footnotes and that'll get you on your way. Please also read WP:Categories to learn how to select and add categories to your article. Once those things are done, you'll be ready to publish. MatthewVanitas (talk) 21:08, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Any help is greatly appreciated with polishing up this page so that it is reviewed, the proper license is chosen for the photo, and so that it will appear to be 100% complete. Apologies and thanks in advance, I'm feeling very inadequate because I'm a complete newbie and am overwhelmed with the details of my first article!

Macomb13 (talk) 20:33, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Greetings, minor formatting issues (you don't need to use "br" to drop lines), and removing some extra blank spaces. Primary issues: it has no references and no categories. In addition to that, I'm not sure what the current policy is on US county legislative bodies, whether they rate their own pages or should be merged into the county's page itself. This wouldn't involve deleting your content, just filing it under Macomb County, Michigan. If you or someone else could check on that and figure out whether County legislative bodies usually get their own page, that'd be a good comment to add here and on the Talk page of the article, to head off future Merge proposals if indeed it should be a stand-alone page. But on the basics: it definitely needs categories and footnotes (see WP:Footnotes and WP:Categories for guidelines). MatthewVanitas (talk) 20:58, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Just looking for feedback - it's my first article, but not my first time editing.

BayBridge (talk) 21:17, 8 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, format and content wise it looks pretty good. Note that links to external websites shouldn't be included in the main article text (like your national coffee association link) - you could move them to the external links section if they're important.
The article cites sources but really needs to cite more coverage of the company from reliable, secondary sources, to meet the guideline Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) - it's a bit borderline at the moment. See WP:RS for what counts as a reliable source - for example blogs generally don't except in some specific circumstances. Best of luck, --Physics is all gnomes (talk) 10:40, 9 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
