Returning (Jan)

[edit]
I have previously been involved reviewing new articles a number of years ago, and I have a little extra time in my schedule, and would like to work on reviewing and/or creating new articles. My profile now alerts me about "AFCH error: user not listed". I don't recall the details of AFCH implementation, but I presume I used to have access for the AfH helper. I'm up to date on notability guidelines. Feel free to reject if you require a high volume or work, but I am happy to contribute quality in occasional bursts.

Hello, I've been an experienced editor and new page reviewer for 6+ years. I'm back from a break and am ready to start working again to improve the encyclopedia. Cheers! Stella BATPHONEGROOVES 00:57, 10 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. As much as I am thrilled to have someone back after a long hiatus, I'm afraid it's a little too long. The last time you edited in the draft space was 2012, and your last 50 edits take us all the way back to 2017 (your last 500 edits bring the date back to 2012). The notability policies and guidelines have changed quite significantly since you were last heavily involved in the project, and with no recent (or any, nearly) involvement in AFD I'm not really sure I can comfortably consider you (from an AFC perspective) as anything other than a newbie. I'm happy to reconsider once you've been back for a few months. Primefac (talk) 17:52, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi I took a break from editing Wikipedia and am interested in reviewing the AfC again (am currently inactive), would be interested in getting restored. Thanks! Craig Davison (talk) 17:21, 31 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

New (Jan)

[edit]
I have read through and studied the reviewing instructions, as well as the notability guidelines (GNG,BASIC,NRV,NEXIST,SUSTAINED, etc..). I have also participated in multiple AfD discussions. I want to be a reviewer because drafts submitted via AfC take a considerable amount of time to be approved (2-3 Months usually), I want to fix that by reviewing as much pages As I can. Thanks- Kieran207 talk 20:32, 1 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Probation, which will be evaluated in 3-6 months. Being on probation only means that you can be removed from the list for any reason without prior discussion. Primefac (talk) 16:13, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have had a good time with Toddy1 and worked on a number of articles along with him like Masrat Zahra. He is a good patroller and already has Rollback and pending change reviewer flags. Just encountered a little issue on Draft:Tariq Masood, and posted an explanatory message on his talk page. If he gets the AfC flag, it'd be really great. ─ The Aafī (talk) 20:51, 2 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

To clear some of the backlog in sports pages, mainly the college basketball areas. I have been on Wikipedia for about 10 years and have over 8,000 edits and numerous page creations. Would love to help out. Brian (talk) 09:02, 3 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd love to help cut into the AFC backlog. I have read the reviewing instructions, and I understand all relevant policies. I have been involved in the deletion process, via PROD, AFD, and (occasionally) CSD. I also have experience interacting with new users, as evidenced by my counter-vandalism work.  Not done. Your talk page is full of declines for the most common issues that drafts face, and if your own drafts have these issues it implies that you will not be able to recognize them in the drafts of others. Primefac (talk) 18:06, 14 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I have been on Wikipedia for 10 years now (joined in 2011), have nearly 9,000 edits and have created numerous articles and redirects. I am familiar with the guidelines, rules, notability criteria, etc. and would like to assist in helping with the AfC backlog. Hello, I am requesting to become an AFC Reviewer to help reduce the backlog of articles in Draftspace and under WP:AFC. I noticed they're articles dating back to August which I believe I have the experience based on Wikipedia guidelines to help review them. I have been actively participating in tagging articles with G13, G11 and G12 in Draftspace for the meantime. I have experience with AFD as well, i am very familiar with Wikipedia guidelines and believe I can be of great help. Cheers Lord Grandwell (talk) 19:25, 7 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It's probably better if I'm an official "Reviewer" instead of an unofficial "Whoops did I just help that person seeking help getting approved by lifting the velvet rope for them?" kind of reviewer. Won't do much, probably average one a day - won't do any that seem borderline, stubs or controversial - but I can help whittle down the extensive backlog at least for the next couple months until my full-time job arrives back in the country. To assist with the backlog. I have read the reviewing instructions and have a solid understanding of our notability and deletion policies. I previously participated in NPP (mostly prior to the page curation revamp), have been involved in a handful of AfD discussions and recently had an article reach featured status, so I'm confident with content creation side of things. Over the last few months I've mostly been participating within contentious DS areas, so a spot of AfC reviewing would be welcome change of scenery. Jr8825Talk 15:56, 12 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've been fairly active on IRC/wikipedia-en-help for a bit now, and I think I've reached a point where I'm comfortable enough to help out with reviewing obviously failing drafts. I have read through and understand the reviewing instructions, and I believe I have a demonstrated understanding of the notability guidelines through my participation in the IRC help channel. I do not have experience in AfD, although I do think I have a decent amount of experience with CSD (I don't have a CSD log, but I have sent at least 67 speedy deletion notifications). Hello. I'm about halfway done with New Page Patrol School, and I'd like to help out in this closely related area. Seems like a natural stepping stone and a great place to apply all this knowledge I'm learning. I have about 5000 edits. Not much AFD/CSD experience, but we've gone over notability in detail in the school, and after doing 4 source assessment tables and a bunch of RS assessments, I feel quite comfortable with GNG now. We reviewed SNG's in the school and I'll look those up as needed. Here's some additional commentary from my trainer, Onel5969.  Not done for now. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, the majority of your edits appear to be vandal-fighting; it is a worthwhile activity, but doesn't necessarily demonstrate that you understand the notability and content-related guidelines enough to be granted AFCH access. That being said, come back in a month or two and I would be happy to look at a new request. Primefac (talk) 13:21, 15 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've been hanging out on Wikipedia for a while: I've spent a fair amount of time on RCP, and I've made 115 articles (including 16 DYKs and 1 GA). As for reviewing others' articles, I have reviewed a fair number of DYKNs and GANs, and have participated in a slew of AfDs. This is a different process, certainly, but I think it could be a fun change of pace. Mostly, I hear people complaining a lot about how there aren't enough AfC reviewers, so I figured I would give it a shot. @Primefac: My last AfD nomination was a month and a half ago. I have a much better grasp on notability guidelines and fair use by this point. I already regularly help improve Draft articles made by other users, and have participated in several AFD, PROD discussions. I admittedly need to read more up on CSD, and would exercise discretion in areas I am not strong/confident in. I would request to be on 3-6 month probationary status and seek feedback/let others handle a task, if I am unsure what to do. I am quite inspired by WP:HEYMAN case. I understand the distinction between a low quality article, and the inherent WP:NOTABILITY of a specific topic. Reason for requesting afc helper script rights

I am requesting afc helper script rights because:

1. I meet the requirements to be a participant in this WikiProject.

-My account is over 90 days old as I created it back on July 24, 2014 nearly 5 years ago.

-I have over 500 undeleted edits. According to xtools, of my 1,837 total edits I have made so far, 1,626 of them are live (87% of them).

-I have thorougly read the reviewing instructions (I'm not sure how to prove I actually read it, but if you want any proof I am happy to provide some).

-I have definitely demonstrated understanding of the policies and guidelines mentioned in the reviewing instructions, including the various notability guidelines. According to xtools, 87% of my total edits are live, and of my 104 created articles, only 29 have been deleted. Having looked through [Page creation log] it looks like only four of those articles were deleted in the last year, and only one was deleted in 2019. The rest of my created articles that got deleted, were deleted more than two years ago, when I had far less understanding of Wikipedias notability guidlines. I have since familiarised myself better with Wikipedias noteability guidlines, and as such, am not suprised that most of those deleted articles that I created were deleted years ago.

-There is lots of reasonable evidence I understand the deletion policy.

-I definitely have a willingness and ability to respond in a timely manner to questions about any review that I get. I'm quite active on Wikipedia, having made 222 edits so far in 2021 (according to xtools) and have been active on Wikipedia most days this year. I also have email notifications set up for any messages I get on my user talkpage, and have email notifications on my iPhone, so my phone basically notifies me of any messages I get on Wikipedia. If there is a way to do something like, or some other way to get a phone notification for any questions about reviews I get that are made on my user talkpage, I will see most review related questions I get within the hour they are asked, and can then respond to them ASAP.

2. I would like to help with the backlog of draft articles submitted for review.

If you have any questions or comments regarding my request feel free to contact me and I will get back to you with a response ASAP. Greshthegreat (talk) 02:27, 23 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Greshthegreat, 30% of the articles you have written have been deleted. Half of the articles you created in 2020 were deleted, but yet you have not commented on a single AFD. I'm concerned about such metrics as it indicates that you might not understand the inclusion criteria. I'm on the fence but leaning no, barring a reasonable explanation or insight as to how this will not affect your reviewing. Primefac (talk) 19:45, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Hi @Primefac, thanks for the reply. I can provide a reasonable explanation as to how half of the articles I created in 2020 being deleted will not affect my reviewing. Of the pages that were deleted last year that I created:
-The most recently deleted article I created last year, about Hester Ford (the oldest living person in the United States), had a lengthy deletion discussion here, before it ultimately got deleted. Many users sharing differing opinions on wether it should be deleted or not and was noteable enough for an article. I had thought it was noteable enough, but after that discussion occured, and it eventually got deleted, it was clear that the article was almost noteable enough, but not enough so to be kept in the mainspace. I've since started a draft for the article here. I will only submit it if for a review if Hester Ford (who the article is about), becomes quite a bit more noteable, and meets the issues brought up about their notoriety.
I have also proven that I understand these things in my recent creation of a similar article about Lucile Randon (the worlds second oldest living person and oldest survivor of COVID-19) on March 23, 2021. That article is still up in the mainspace, has not been proposed for deletion, and is about a person who is far more noteable (as well as having lived a very long time just like Hester Ford).
-I created three articles about a few teleconference and in person rallies held by then President Donald Trump, during his re-election campaign ahead of the 2020 Presidential Election, but they were deleted for not being noteable on there own, except for being held by a noteable person. I haven't created any articles about events or political campaign rallies since then, but have familiarized myself better with the noteable events inclusion criteria, so I understand that better if I do create any articles about noteable events in the future. Additionally, all of my other articles about events that I created prior to those three deleted ones, have been kept, such as 2020 Salute to America, South Dakota's Mount Rushmore Fireworks Celebration 2020 and Mountain Fair.
One article I created this year was deleted, which was about the PPP Extension Act of 2021 (a bill introduced in the 117th United States Congress, to extend the covered period for people and businesses enrolled in Paycheck Protection Program). It got moved to a draft by another editor since I had forgotten to cite sources for it. After I added a few sources and expanded the article, I submitted it for a review. However the submission was declined, and the reviewer suggested it be merged into the existing article, Paycheck Protection Program. The following day I proposed it be merged into that article, by leaving a mesage on the talk page about the merge to see what other editors think before I do anything. I'm waiting to here from other editors.
All of my other articles I've created this year about bills introduced in the 117th United States Congress have not been kept, as I have tried to only make articles that I think are noteable enough for there own articles.
Every other article I created that got deleted, was deleted in 2019 or earlier.
If this explanation is not good enough, you are welcome to put me on a probation or I can make another submission after the issues you brought up have been met. Greshthegreat (talk) 20:42, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Greshthegreat If we set that on one side, I wonder if you would mind addressing the lack noted by @Primefac of comment at AfD. I ask because our work as reviewers is to pre-handle AfD likelihood, accepting only drafts that have a good chance of surviving an immediate deletion discussion Fiddle Faddle 21:40, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

About a month ago, I've asked to become an AfC reviewer but was rejected by @Primefac: for not having a lot of undeleted edits. So I've worked harder and gained over 700 undeleted edits with my deleted edits under 10%. I've also created some other articles (more on the way). I hope to become an AfC reviewer to speed up the draft articles and not letting them wait for too long. Hello. I have read, and understand the Reviewing instructions. I also have a good grasp of WP:Notability and WP:Deletion policy. I decided to request rights because I recently began working on my first article at Draft:LinuxConsole, and after submitting it for review, I noticed the backlog of thousands of AfC submissions that might take months to review. I realized a great need for AfC, and New Page reviewers so I've put in a request there as well. I hope my draft and editing experience is enough evidence I understand how to help in this area. Thank you for your consideration. Huggums537 (talk) 11:59, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting afc helper script rights: I have helped several new editors fix up articles that are laden with promotional material and grammar mistakes, and I have helped to remind editors of the conflict of interest policy, while still helping them to get their articles published if they are notable enough and covered by reliable sources. I keep coming across articles that apparently have been waiting for a long time to be reviewed (unsurprisingly, given the backlog), and I'm myself also adding to this daily by draftifying articles that aren't ready for the main name space... so I guess I should become part of the solution instead of part of the problem, and start helping out to earn my keep. I'm familiar with notability, OR, POV, etc. key issues, and reasonably good at spotting spamming, hoaxes, copyvios, etc., as well as having a decent hit rate at AfD and speedy nominations, so I feel like I could cope pretty well. I'd like to request a trial run for AfC rights. I am quite active at AfDs and have had only a small portion of my nominations withdrawn or shot down due to my misinterpretation or ignorance of establishing notability for non-Western subjects. I am an author of 14 articles, with the latest tagged for deletion due to my misunderstanding of WP:NMMA. Lessons learnt on that one. I understand that any job requires constant improvement and that is why I have already positively responded and learnt on my mistakes. As an AfC participant I would refrain from making any decisions in fields I am not yet confident in and would instead stick to topics that are more or less non-contentious. nearlyevil665 04:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC) nearlyevil665 04:53, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I would love to contribute as a reviewer to help reduce the pretty large backlog. I did "blot my copybook" so to speak a few weeks ago when an article about Mars G. Fontana was repeatedly denied due to copyright and too much copy and paste. However, I am almost obsessive about proper referencing and I do believe I could make a good contribution in certain areas particularly railways, science and engineering. I would probably avoid biographies. GRALISTAIR (talk) 15:53, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hey GRALISTAIR. I don't usually participate in assessing these requests, but happened to see your post at the Teahouse, which I idly clicked on. We certainly need help with the backlog—and the very fact anyone makes a request here to donate time to help out is admirable—but after seeing your post here, including its misspelling of copyright as "copywrite", just made me wonder whether you have taken on board the very important issues surrounding this subject. Please be aware that the very first step listed at the AfC reviewing instructions is to check submissions against "quickfail criteria", and the very first of those is that every draft should be checked for copyright problems (advising how to do so, and providing detailed instructions [I composed] for what to do if found). Will that be any problem?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 17:56, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
No it will not be a problem now I see it is a reviewer tool. I have already had a go at some of my articles awaiting publication (or not) to check that I have not inadvertently violated copyright. Now I know about that tool I will never ever make that mistake again and absolutely would pull up editors and ask for a complete rewrite or even speedy deletion. Sometimes in life, the lessons learned the hard way are the lessons learned best. So I would be obsessive about copyright violation and proper citation/referencing. I believe notability is subjective and would certainly in the interim (probation period of 6 months perhaps?) avoid biographies even though I have written a few of those myself. I am a Technical Editor and reviewer btw of Journal of Coatings Technology and Research ISSN: 1547-0091 part of the Springer publishing group. So editing and reviewing is not exactly my first rodeo. Whatever is decided I am good with - and as suggested perhaps a 6 month probation period would be a great compromise. GRALISTAIR (talk) 18:43, 26 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. I'm on the fence about this, but the above issues combined with continuing declines of some of your draft pages just barely tips the scale in the "no" direction (honestly, I started writing out an "accept as probationary" response and all of the caveats and "must-do's" that I was listing made me think it's not quite appropriate to grant). I think in a few months you'll have more experience and be much better prepared to review drafts. Primefac (talk) 14:14, 10 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'm requesting to be able to help with medical AfCs which many of them need declined, but I can't technically do so. Hopefully this will help with the backlog a bit. I like to think I have a good understanding of notability, and a decent understanding of speedy deletion criteria, but I doubt many of these will need speedy deletion, and so my primary concern will be with deciding whether the article is notable enough and written neutrally enough to survive an AfD. -bɜ:ʳkənhɪmez (User/say hi!) 00:38, 13 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I would like to apply for AFC. I have roughly 634 uncontested edits, and if I remember correctly, at least 575 of those are in the mainspace. I have been here 223 days, so I more than exceed the minimum requirements. I have done extensive work on translating and updating palaeontology articles, have moved some pages, such as this one, and have some familiarity with the review process.

ETA: I probably won't be doing too much, and all the reviewing I do will be on palaeontology articles. Borophagus talk 07:32, 15 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Like I said in the previous request, I hope to become an AfC reviewer to speed up the draft articles and not letting them wait for too long. kpgamingz (rant me) 16:38, 17 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'm sorely tempted to decline this purely based on the fact that you have been asking here every month for three consecutive months. I will have to give this a think before deciding.
The reason why I've been asking every month is since there isn't a clear way to see how many undeleted edits to the mainspace a user made. Sorry if this was bothering you. I'm just trying to help with the AfC project. The average reply rate for draft articles are mostly a few hours for declining and over a month for acceptance. kpgamingz (rant me) 19:03, 17 May 2021 (UTC) (please ping on reply)[reply]

Dear Sir or Madam,

I would like to apply for Articles for Creation rights on Wikipedia.

Below I will expose why I believe that I meet the criteria at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Articles_for_creation.

My Wikipedia account has been very active in the last 106 days, in which I've made over 500 edits: correcting typos, fixing grammar, adding sources and extending articles with too little content.

Thorough understanding of the reviewing instructions

I have thoroughly read and understood the reviewing instructions. In order to give evidence of this I have written a short summary of the recommended reviewing workflow below.

Once a draft has been created and submitted, the first step is for it to go through the quick fail process: the idea is for bad drafts to be killed quickly. A quick fail consists in: irreparable copyright violation, a blank, test or nonsense article, and vandalism. If an article isn't in English it should be trans-wikified.

Then comes the standard content review phase, the key here is that content should be encyclopaedic in nature, on a notable subject, reliably sourced and adopting a neutral point of view.

Demonstration of understanding of notability guidelines and deletion policies

I have carefully read the notability guidelines and applied what I learned to contribute to multiple AfD discussions.

As evidence of my understanding and involvement in this process I have made many edits on AfD pages making the case for or against deletion based on what I read in the reviewing policies and instructions. AfD discussions taken part in include: articles on Rob Lord (software developer), the international theatre in Vienna, Time and Space Limited (theatre company), International Financing Review, Kain Rivers, ...

Willingness and ability to respond in a timely manner to questions about their reviews

I have ample time and am more than willing to respond in a timely manner to questions about my reviews.

I have the above demonstrates my enthusiasm and goodwill to contribute to the wikipedian community by becoming an AfC.

Many Thanks for your consideration. Trialan (talk) 15:07, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I will particularly like to help with reviewing Nigeria-related and entertainment drafts. I've created 50+ articles including BLPs and entertainment-related articles. One of them got draftified with good reason and I've gone ahead to learn from it. I understand notability guidelines and can identify RS. My participation in AfD can be seen here (Link added to reflect my participation with my old username; User:TheSokks). I've also read and understood the reviewing instructions. For full disclosure, I engaged in sockpupptery as a novice editor, without knowing it was against the rules. I now edit only on this account after my appeal was granted to continue editing by Arbcom. My past account is Kemmiiii. I also have an active TBAN. Kind regards, Princess of Ara(talk) 19:28, 16 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have made more than 6000 edits, and I'm confident about my understanding of the rules and regulations of Wikipedia regarding to notability, AFD, reliable and independent sources. So far, I have created 64 articles on this wiki, and 2 of them appeared in the homepage, also I came out in the top three position at Women In Red participants list in the past two months. Prior to this one, I have applied for couple of other Wikipedia rights and have been granted so. I believe I can be an useful addition to the AFC community. If you think otherwise, please tell me what's wrong and what needs to done furthermore. Thanks. Tame (talk) 13:42, 17 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I've done some work with AfDs and PRODs at WP:POD, but I have not done any speedy deletions. I've mostly contributed to articles relevant to WP:POD, and I was hoping to go through the AfCs at the Wikiproject (I might branch out after that). I've made 20 different articles that have already passed AfC (i.e. Dissect (podcast) and Art Napoleon) and I've also made substantial edits to pre-existing articles such as Minjung theology and Nicholas Galanin. I just read over the guide to AfCs and I believe I meet the criteria for a reviewer. I'm not sure how relevant it is, but I've also created 10 different categories and I've uploaded or edited nearly every image used by articles at WP:POD.  Not done, mainly on account of the number of declined drafts I'm seeing in your contributions. Yes, I do realize that there are also a number of accepted drafts, but the ratio is a bit too low for indicating a good understanding of notability. Primefac (talk) 13:26, 8 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Totally fair, no hard feelings. I was actually a little worried about that. Maybe I'll apply again in like a year. Thanks for reviewing my application. TipsyElephant (talk) 16:27, 9 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am seeking to become a draft reviewer to help clear the backlog. In particular, there are a number of webcomic drafts that I would like to examine as part of my work on WikiProject Webcomics, but otherwise I'll be generally looking at whatever random articles catch my eye. I've been an editor since 2015 (though not always active), I've made over a thousand edits in this year alone, and I'm an active member of WikiProject Webcomics where I'm the main person who sorts through requests for new articles. New (August)

[edit]
I requested to have AFC rights in June, but it was declined. I have created over 60 pages. Since June I have created many new articles such as John Traill, John Gray (nightwatchman) and Equestrian statue of Robert the Bruce, Bannockburn. Although a small number of the pages have been deleted, I have learned from them. I know that Wikipedia is not news, books and films with only database sources are not notable, etc.Sahaib3005 (talk) 08:12, 2 August 2021 (UTC) Sahaib3005 (talk) 08:12, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Primefac:, I believe I must make a note here that the user hasn't read AfC guidelines properly. They inappropriately close an AfD where they've been a participant, and then accept an AfC draft improperly to a disambiguated title. The user needs to demonstrate that they understand the AfC guidelines, and imo they should be removed currently. Inappropriately closed the Miniminter AfD, inappropriately approved Draft:Miniminter to Miniminter (YouTuber). The draft has now been deleted though. ─ The Aafī (talk) 10:30, 13 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@TheAafi:, I have reviewed a lot of AFCs (check my contributionss) amd msot of them have been uncontroversial, so I don’t think I should be removed from the afc list.

The Miniminter thing is confusing. So I created the page Zerkaa. I have improved the draft page of Miniminter (I did not create the draft). The thing is that someone created the page Miniminter despite there already being a draft. I participated in the deletion of Miniminter, as every single person voted to redirect, I decided to redirect the page. I regret redirecting the page, I thought since it was uncontroversial that it would be okay if I redirected the page even if I was involved in the discussion. Meanwhile today I spent hours improving the draft Miniminter even more. As I was an afc participant I moved the page to Miniminter (YouTuber), I couldn’t move it to Miniminter (because there was a page there). I was acting in good faith. My goal was to get rid of the poorly referenced Miniminter article and replace it with the much better draft article. I am saddened to hear that the draft article has been deleted when multiple editors have contributed to the draft. I would like to apologise for making this mess. I would also ask for the draft Miniminter to be undeleted because it was promising unlike the Miniminter page.

I'd like to participate in reviewing AfCs and I think I'm quite experienced to try it. I've created 10+ articles and reviewed 10+ GAs. Artem.G (talk) 20:08, 2 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reason for requesting afc helper script rights

I have a fairly good idea of what makes a Wikipedia Article acceptable. But, I don't have much experience in reviewing new pages. I go to New Pages Feed sometimes and correct as much as I can or tag with appropriate problem templates. I think being a participant here would help me with New Page reviewing with the AFC Script. I would know better of what to do other than just tagging with problems or making some of the corrections. Lightbluerain (Talk | contribs) 16:56, 16 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Probation, which will be evaluated in 3-6 months. Being on probation only means that you can be removed from the list for any reason without prior discussion. for 6 months. While Senne has demonstrated very high competence in what are traditionally some of the trickier areas, such as copyright, and their deletion experience is fairly normal for a probationary grant, they have less conventional mainspace editing than most. However, their 3Os and similar demonstrate sufficient awareness of these fields to avoid issues - plus anyone capable of being a CCI clerk has demonstrated sufficient competence. I would advise focus on the bottom of the list (new submissions) for your first month or so, and then asking with close-cases (either to me or at WT:AFC - used for 2nd opinions). Moreover, I am much more specialized and have more experiences in naval related topics and some other non-naval related topics too! I’ve been on Wikipedia for almost a year with many more articles created. Due to these reasons, I would like to assist/help out new comers of Wikipedia and make sure they can produce good quality articles on this website. Delta (talk) 12:56, 18 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I'd like to help review articles submitted through AFC. I am familiar with many Wikipedia guidelines (WP:CSD, WP:GNG, WP:N, WP:NFF), and I also understand the process of deletion. I also believe I fulfill all of the criteria shown on the main page. WellThisIsTheReaper (talk) 15:04, 23 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done, mainly because of the number of declined drafts, copyright issues, and deleted pages indicated on your userpage. Primefac (talk) 23:57, 26 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: According to my mainpage, I have not had an rejected draft since June 28th; there was one exception however for Minor League Cricket (it was declined, then accepted). I have also not had a whole lot of copyright issues (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot taken, however) in my entire Wikipedian span. I also have had only 2 deleted pages on this user, in which one (East Bay Blazers) was deleted by my own request and another (Barbados national under-20 football team) deleted simply because it was created during a time of block evasion. WellThisIsTheReaper (talk) 03:38, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
It's not any one of those things, it's the combination of all of them that indicate to me you need more time editing before you will be an effective reviewer. You are welcome to reapply in a month or two to demonstrate that. Primefac (talk) 12:41, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I was going to wait longer to apply again, but the AfC reviews have gotten really backed up and I'd like to help. Since last time I've applied I haven't had any drafts rejected. Since then I've had Geekshow Podcast, Alone: A Love Story, How to Be a Girl (podcast), and There Goes the Neighborhood (podcast) approved. I also have more drafts in the works such as Draft:Tell Them, I Am and Draft:The United States of Anxiety among others. I've participated in nearly 100 AfDs with about 70% of my votes matching the final consensus. TipsyElephant (talk) 02:32, 28 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  •  Not done. You only very recently started gaining meaningful experience with our deletion processes, and I don't have enough to assess your proficiency with our notability guidelines. You also have very few non-automated edits to mainspace, with many of your edits being indiscriminate redlink removals or rapid-fire uses of refill, which artificially inflates your edit count. Most of your unautomated edits are to an article that is an unattributed translation of w:fr:Adolphe Amouroux, which is a copyright issue. I am also somewhat concerned by the relatively recent warnings for disruptive editing on your talk page, which you blanked immediately after responding ([2]). Please gain some additional experience before re-requesting this right. --Blablubbs (talk) 11:46, 1 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your response. Just so I know for the future, what minimum criteria did I fail to meet? According to the project page, the minimum requirements are: a Wikipedia account at least 90 days old, a minimum of 500 undeleted edits to articles, thoroughly read and understood the reviewing instructions, a demonstrated understanding of the policies mentioned in the reviewing instructions, including the various special notability categories, reasonable evidence of understanding the deletion policy (experience in areas such as CSD/AfD/PROD or page curation, while not mandatory, are beneficial), a willingness and ability to respond in a timely manner to questions about their reviews. Pyrrho the Skeptic (talk) 15:49, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Pyrrho the Skeptic you currently have only 388 edits in article space, also although it says "CSD/AfD/PROD or page curation, while not mandatory, are beneficial" they are probably the primary way to show an "understanding of the policies", another way is a number of non trivial articles created, but it is all a bit subjective. If you haven't already enable Wikipedia:Twinkle and set the CSD and PROD logs on, and have a look at some WP:AFDs. Hope that helps explain, Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 18:15, 12 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

You have repeatedly requested multiple advanced permissions over the past few days despite clearly not being qualified for such, and barely hanging on to your ability to edit the mainspace at all.  Not done for now. You have no AFD experience, and while you have some solid CSDs in the draft space (which for the record, you should really enable logging with Twinkle) there's not a ton and it's fairly recent. I'm also concerned (from a "demonstration of knowledge of notability" perspective) that >90% of your edits are semi-automated and mostly counter-vandalism work; while there's nothing wrong with this type of editing, it doesn't necessarily indicate a knowledge of our inclusion criteria. I have a few thousand edits (Just passed the 5,000 edit mark) on Wikipedia and I have been editing a little over two years now, beginning in October 2019. I work with a few WikiProjects (Weather, Severe Storms, Hurricanes, Tropical Cyclones, and Twenty-Tens decade) and I revived and sort of coordinate the Current Events WikiProject, so I feel like I could review drafts more in tune with weather events and current events. Current events is always a tricky thing to manage, especially with multiple new articles and drafts possibly being created on the same event, so as an Afc reviewer, I could at least help control the draft side of the current events. I agree on the instructions on becoming a Articles for Creation reviewer, and just passed the 1,000 edits mark very recently, and the minimum criteria sounds familiar and understanding to me. New requesets (Dec)

[edit]
Hello, I have made many edits and have been here for around two years. I have made many successful CSD requests and understand the inclusion policies. I would like to request AFC script access so that I can review articles. Firestar464 (talk) 02:18, 1 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. While you meet the numerical metrics, and your CSD logs seem to be okay (you should enable automatic logging of CSDs in your Twinkle preferences), your AFD stats are (to be honest) quite problematic. Primefac (talk) 14:21, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like to be able to more easily add comments to the onpage discussions versus just on the help desk pages. You can see my positive contributions there in my editing history. TechnoTalk (talk) 20:44, 2 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Not done for now. It's not any one thing that's troublesome, but a whole lot of little things (i.e. you've had about 1/3 of your created pages deleted and there isn't a lot of AFD experience for starters). Primefac (talk) 14:21, 5 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Primefac: Thanks for considering me. I'll point out for future consideration that all the deletions were earlier inferior articles, before I got the hang of notability and sourcing. All of the articles I've created in the past 5 years are still up. TechnoTalk (talk) 19:06, 17 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've read about the review process and want to help with the backlog. My experience in AfD is fairly recent but larger than the tool shows - it seems to be missing a number of AfDs I participated in, such as Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2021_November_30#Malefic_planet and Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Lamar_Johnson_(prisoner). I am a New Page Patroller and Good Article Reviewer / GA Reasssessments (120+). I get into AfD from time to time and add short descriptions to every page I come across on NPP. I've just started doing merges, to learn a new area. Interested to work in this area. --Whiteguru (talk) 22:51, 4 December 2021 (UTC) Whiteguru (talk) 22:51, 4 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to apply to become an AfC Reviewer. I have the requisite 90 days and 500 not-deleted edits, have read the reviewing instructions in full, and am frequently online and available for answering questions. I am familiar with notability and verification standards, including having participated in several RSN discussions. I am familiar with PROD, CSD and AfD, and have participated in many AfD discussions including saving articles from deletion after I cleaned them up mid-AfD, submitting AfDs, getting articles deleted and snow deleted, and withdrawing my AfD after others TNTed and rebuilt an article from just the title. I have merged and split articles, and am familiar with redirects. I am a fairly regular participant at WikiProject Cleanup and enjoy reading articles on topics I've never before thought to look into. My interest in helping in the AfC step came about from discussions related to the proliferation of non-notable articles in the Ethiopia/Africa area and the notability of future films policy problems (causing repeated fights at AfD over prematurely created articles). I am currently a New page reviewer on trial run, and have reviewed various articles, rated them, added necessary tags when required. I have reviewed various GANs, and have various GAs, 7 FLs, and 1 FA. I meet the basic requirements, and I think have a fairly well understanding of notability guidelines. – Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 14:53, 8 December 2021 (UTC) Kavyansh.Singh (talk) 14:53, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Might be able to help out a little. I've created a few articles including Marc Canham (composer) and Jimmy Jewell (saxophonist) along with associated work to tidy inbound links and disambiguations, so I'm familiar with the review process from the receiving end. I'm familiar with WP:NOTE and have not pursued page creation for articles of dubious notability. I've had one page Open general licence AFD'd including repairing the wounds. Perhaps mostly, I would like to think I have the sensibilities to duck out and leave things to more experienced editors where appropriate, including making notifications and requests to them. Chumpih, some of my colleagues might be concerned that you have zero AFD experience; out of curiosity, why have you not participated in that side of Wikipedia yet? (please do not ping on reply) Primefac (talk) 08:25, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks Primefac for the consideration. Re. "why no AfD" there's no particular reason. If it's any consolation, I've been a little involved in Redirects for Discussion, with varied suggestions expressed. (Ok, perhaps exhibiting a bit of an bias towards 'delete' — the bog standard Search function is actually pretty helpful so I'm not so keen on these never-used, un-natural redirects). But in case of no consolation, I'll go away, show some form on AfD, then come back in (say) a month. Cheers, Chumpih. (talk) 19:21, 14 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
There's some AfD form now. Chumpih t 13:23, 1 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I believe I have enough of a clue to know what I'm doing, and well there's no reason I couldn't help around here? Anyway, I've created a few decent articles, significantly expanded others (see my DYKs, helpfully listed on my user page); and generally my records at AfDs shows I generally have a clue about what meets and what does not meet inclusion criteria. Plus, over 20k edits... Cheers, RandomCanadian (talk / contribs) 04:40, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I would be happy to help with AfC reviewing.
  • I have over 1000 edits on Wikipedia (most undeleted), have been a user for 12 years, and am currently actively editing.
  • I have participated in many AfD and notability discussions. I have a basic understanding of the criteria for independent, reliably sourced material; notability; uniqueness/noveltly (not already covered by an existing article); neutrality and tone; and special rules including for pages about living persons, copyright violations, and image use restrictions.
  • I view backlogged AfCs as undesirable and would personally contribute work to resolve AfCs and curb the backlog as much as possible.

Thank you for your consideration. Caleb Stanford (talk) 19:20, 22 December 2021 (UTC) Caleb Stanford (talk) 19:20, 22 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I think I can try to help with this backlog. I've read through the reviewing instructions, and I do a bit of CSD tagging. – AssumeGoodWraith (talk | contribs) 04:26, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I'm interested in helping with AfC review and with reducing the AfC backlog. I've requested to participate in the past, but was declined because of a couple of the articles that I've created in the past that were deleted. Since then, I have spent time reviewing the guidelines for notability and what makes a good page and also thoroughly looked at WP:AFCR; further, I have spent time on discussing AfD and with article maintenance tagging. I have 1000+ edits and have written over 10 articles that were determined to be notable (the two articles that I created that were deleted were made in late 2020 and I've grown as an editor significantly since then as can be seen by my 10+ articles created since then); since my previous request, I have gained a much better grasp on what makes a good article. Hi! I'd like the AFC script rights in order to review AFC articles. There is a obvious backlog to AFC, and I'd like to participate by helping clean it up by reviewing articles. I'm interested because I think that the more articles, the better (as long as they meet the qualifications of course). I'm qualified for this position because I have over 500 article edits, and 1000+ overall edits, I also have the rest of the required criteria. I have also read through all of the required documentation, and I thoroughly understand it. I have written 2 articles, and I have one article that I have contributed heavily to in the GA review stage right now. I've had one AFD, which was rejected, and multiple PROD's, some of which were rejected. After reading the documentation from the rejected PROD's and the AFD, I now understand why they should have been kept, and learned more in the process. Thanks!  Not done for now, primarily because of said XFD experience (it's one thing to understand, it's another to demonstrate). Primefac (talk) 22:31, 27 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I am an editor with decent experience both creating articles and improving them through various stages of quality. I’ve created 9 mainspace articles of decent quality (examples purely created: 1 (BLP), 2 (BLP), 3, 4, 5, 6; examples significantly built up: 7, 8, 9). I have brought one article from start class to GA, and I’m hoping to bring a second, BLP article to GA now that it's through peer review, and a third, list-class article to GA once it is exhaustive (nearly there).
I have experience with a broad set of Wikipedia guidelines, including the high standards applied to BLP and current events. During May 5-7 2020, for example, I was the single largest contributor (by Wikitext) to the Murder of George Floyd. I have four DYKs (1, 2, 3, 4), and I created a Wikiproject for a cappella because I figured creating and organizing resources for other editors could help improve the quality of articles in that space.
I have been part of only 3 AfD experiences because I generally prefer to work on subjects I'm passionate about, but I believe my work across GA, AfD, BLP, etc. taken together shows that I apply an even standard across all my work. New article creation is, in my view, one of the best opportunities we have to inspire new editors. I would like to apply to help with AfC to help make Wikipedia a nice place for its newest and most ambitious editors. I wouldn’t be the most active editor but I could definitely help reduce the backlog. My areas of expertise include universities, a cappella, technology, internet culture, and BLP. — Shrinkydinks (talk) 02:18, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
