Updating a Section in Kaiser Permanente

[edit]

Hello. I'm Vince from Kaiser Permanente. Owing to a conflict of interest, I'm hoping to prevail on someone to help update the section on our corporate governance. It's pretty old and our executive leaders are either part of the Bay Area community or have lasting ties to it. I left a request on the Talk page there some time ago, but I guess it hasn't crested the radar. Can anyone led some assistance? Thank you. vggolla (talk) 23:24, 24 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Uber RfC

[edit]

Hi WikiProject California/San Francisco Bay Area task force. On the Uber article Talk page there is a Request for Comment regarding the coverage of regulatory and legal issues in the article. Editors here may want to join this discussion, since the article is part of this WikiProject. The question under discussion is how the information on legal and regulatory issues would be best treated, particularly whether it should be summarized in the Uber article or potentially split off into its own article. Art & Feminism 2015

[edit]

Hi! At California College of the Arts, we are planning an event for the Art and Feminism edit-a-thon on Saturday, March 7th on our Oakland campus. Here is the event page. Are there are members of this project who would be willing to volunteer their time to assist us? While I'm a semi-experienced editor myself it'd be great to have someone more experienced there to instruct and answer questions. Leave a message on my talk page if you're interested. Thanks. Many participants here create a lot of content, have to evaluate whether or not a subject is notable, decide if content complies with BLP policy, and much more. Well, these are just some of the skills considered at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship.

So, please consider taking a look at and watchlisting this page:

You could be very helpful in evaluating potential candidates, and even finding out if you would be a suitable RfA candidate.

San Francisco-based Tides (organization) edits

[edit]

Hello, are there any editors interested in San Francisco Bay Area-based organizations who are interested in improving Tides (organization)? Please see this request for edits if so. For those who do not know, Tides is a public charity and fiscal sponsor whose work focuses on social equality, human rights, the environment, education and health. Its main office is located in the historic Presidio National Park, in Tides' Thoreau Center for Sustainability. (Please note that I have a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, as I work for Tides. Rather than direct edit, I posted my suggestions at the discussion page.) The edits I proposed update the article and fix inaccuracies in the intro and infobox. We – Community Tech – are happy to announce that the Popular pages bot is back up-and-running (after a one year hiatus)! You're receiving this message because your WikiProject or task force is signed up to receive the popular pages report. Every month, Community Tech bot will post at Wikipedia:WikiProject California/San Francisco Bay Area task force/Archive 3/Popular pages with a list of the most-viewed pages over the previous month that are within the scope of WikiProject California.

We've made some enhancements to the original report. Here's what's new:

  • The pageview data includes both desktop and mobile data.
  • The report will include a link to the pageviews tool for each article, to dig deeper into any surprises or anomalies.
  • The report will include the total pageviews for the entire project (including redirects).

We're grateful to Mr.Z-man for his original Mr.Z-bot, and we wish his bot a happy robot retirement. Just as before, we hope the popular pages reports will aid you in understanding the reach of WikiProject California, and what articles may be deserving of more attention. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us at m:User talk:Community Tech bot.

Help update Gigamon?

Hello, Editors on this task force interested in tech companies might be interested in a series of edit requests I posted for the Gigamon article. There are short edit requests open for History, Operations, Products, Recognition and awards, and some minor introduction edits.

As disclosed on the Gigamon Talk page, I have a financial conflict of interest, so I am not editing the article directly as I'm offering these updates on behalf of the company as part of my work with Beutler Ink. Thank you in advance, Danilo Two (talk) 15:00, 25 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Much appreciated! --haha169 (talk) 09:00, 18 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Wildfire Userbox

[edit]

Wikipedians struggling to fight and survive the North Bay firestorm may be recognized by adding a userbox to their userpage with the following code:

{{User:Thewellman/User 2017 wildfire}}

to produce:

This user is a veteran of the 2017 California wildfires

Thewellman (talk) 21:29, 14 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

The code has been moved as indicated to avoid creating userboxen as templates. I'm sure many north bay residents would join me thanking both the San Francisco Bay area communities and more distant Californians for their generous support in our recent time of crisis. I saw fire trucks on Sonoma County fire lines from as far away as Long Beach. Thewellman (talk) 18:35, 30 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Draft for "Move (company)" article

[edit]

On behalf of Move, a California-based company, I am proposing expanded and updated Move (company) and Realtor.com articles. Given my conflict of interest, I will not edit either article directly and ask independent editors to review them for accuracy, neutrality, and verifiability. During this project, Move has provided feedback to ensure accuracy. I've saved my Move draft here and my Realtor.com draft here.

Both articles have edit requests on their respective talk pages, which you're welcome to review if you're interested. Editors are in the process of reviewing the Realtor.com article, so I am wondering if a member of WikiProject California might be willing to review the Move draft.

Good Article Nomination for New Albion

[edit]

Hello S.F. Bay Area task force editors. I have tagged the New Albion with the S.F. Bay Area task force. This is the first time I have tagged an article in such a manner and am uncertain I correctly did so. I left the importance blank as I do not know how that importance is considered. I've made many fundamental revisions to the article in the past few months and received some help from an editor who examined the article during a peer review request. Therefore, I have listed the article as a Good Article Nomination. It is the only article so listed under the Places category which relates to the San Franciso Bay area and all of California, also. Perhaps a S.F. Bay Area task force editor here might review it. After examining some of Good Articles on California Project page and their reading carefully through the relevant nomination assessments, I am confident this article is properly prepared. As part of this process, we will be rewriting the web tool that is part of the project. You might have noticed this tool if you click through the links on the project assessment summary tables.

We'd like to collect information on how the current tool is used by....you! How do you yourself and the other maintainers of your project use the web tool? Which of its features do you need? How frequently do you use these features? And what features is the tool missing that would be useful to you? An article on the work culture of Silicon Valley, possibly titled Silicon Valley culture or possibly Culture of technology companies or something, is very badly needed. CZ Biohub Organization Draft

[edit]

Hey there, I'm here on behalf of Chan Zuckerberg Biohub, an SF-based nonprofit that partners with Stanford, UCSF, and UC Berkeley to advance research in medical science. You can read my full COI disclosure on my user page.

For the past couple months, I've been searching for an independent editor to review an Organization section I composed for the Biohub page. Bay Area Nonprofit Article for Submission

[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if anyone in the SF Bay Area Task Force would be interested in taking a look at this article for submission? It’s about Creativity Explored (CE), a nonprofit in San Francisco that hosts a day program for developmentally disabled adult artists. With two locations, one in the Mission District and another in Potrero Hill, CE functions as a studio-based collective, currently offering over 130 artists art supplies, training, exhibition and sales opportunities. I am an AmeriCorps VISTA in Community Development serving at CE so I wanted to disclose that and welcome any notes on bias and/or promotion that is inappropriate. That being said, CE is a 40 year old nonprofit that has a strong nuclear community and is a proud part of the broader disability community. CE continues to prioritize the health and wellbeing of its two studio neighborhoods, along with the artist’s that make it as strong as it is, and hopes to have an article on Wikipedia marking its place in San Francisco! I’d appreciate any time you take to look the article over and provide feedback, thank you! GeorgiaMKC (talk) 16:32, 21 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking editor review of NerdWallet Products and services updates

[edit]

Hello, I'm an employee at NerdWallet, a San Francisco-based company that provides individuals and small businesses with financial advice. I'm looking for an independent editor to review some updates I'm proposing for the NerdWallet article's Products and services section. My goal is to add information on a couple of relatively recent acquisitions the company has made. These acquisitions have significantly expanded the company's range of services. Here is the link to my Talk page post. If you're interested in helping out, please read through that post and let me know what you think. I'm happy to field any feedback or questions you may have. Thanks, KB at NerdWallet (talk) 18:18, 6 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'd appreciate any comments, corrections or copy-edits from members of this project. Thank you. 76.14.122.5 (talk) 23:13, 3 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, overall great job finding a lot of references and writing in a neutral style, but is there any reason you can't just expand the History section of San Francisco Department of Public Works? The article about Mohammed Nuru also contains a ton of overlapping info. It's not really clear that a separate article is merited. Steven Walling • talk 04:40, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for taking a look and for your comment. I had previously added a lot of the info to the Nuru article. My vague plan is to remove a most of that and link to this article if it is accepted. I hadn't thought of expanding the DPW article. Let's see what others think. 76.14.122.5 (talk) 18:57, 5 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Need help changing the Wikidata identifier and Wikipedia article names of the SF Recreation and Park department

[edit]

I emailed the department after noticing their name gets formatted in a lot of different ways and was told that the official name of the department is "San Francisco Recreation & Park Department". The names of the Wikidata identifier and Wikipedia article for the department are "San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department" (they use Parks instead of Park).

What would be the best way to go about changing this? Spughetti (talk) 20:51, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Their website is very inconsistent about "Park" versus "Parks". I would recommend initiating a requested move at Talk:San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department so that others can weigh in. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:36, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah I've never seen inconsistency like this before, but my email correspondence with the department confirmed that it's Park, not Parks. Does that mean it's uncontroversial and I can just do the move myself? Spughetti (talk) 23:39, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I would still recommend a requested move. Given the inconsistency in public information, basing a move solely on private communication isn't the best idea. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:54, 11 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a requested move on the talk page, could you maybe take a look? I don't have a lot of experience with this :) Spughetti (talk) 14:59, 15 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Index Ventures History Edit Request feedback

[edit]

Hi San Francisco locals, I'm an Index Ventures employee looking to get some feedback on an edit request over on the article's Talk page. The edit request is seeking to update the History section with improved sourcing, so if anybody has the time and interest to check it out and provide some feedback, that would be awesome. Also, I've disclosed my COI on my own user page, which you can check out here. Thanks! Rachel at Index (talk) 20:02, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking help with Fastly Operation section draft

[edit]

Hello, I'm an employee at Fastly, a San Francisco-based edge computing and content delivery company. I currently have an active edit request on the Fastly Talk page that seeks to improve the article's Operation section. If you click this link, you can see that I've revised my initial request to suit the recommendations of another editor. I've asked them what they think of my revised request, but I haven't heard back yet and it's possible they're busy with life/work/whatever, so I thought I would come to this WikiProject and ask for the opinion of other independent editors. Thank you in advance to whoever takes a look at my request! Jagger at Fastly (talk) 18:11, 17 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
