Dear ConcernedVancouverite,

I'm an intern for the WMA and there is a need to create a list of WMA Constituent Members in the wikipedia. I was going to upload the svg map, but this morning I noticed that the page was "deleted".

My main question is what was the reason to the deletion of the page with the member organizations?

If there is anything that is possible to do to undo that decision just let me know.

I believe you are referring to the page that was here [1] where it states the deletion reasons were copyright infringement and advertising. Generally if you are affiliated (such as working as an intern) you should review WP:COI before editing anything related to your organization. ConcernedVancouverite (talk) 16:16, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day: Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality: Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content: Is more content needed?
Headings: Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images: Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links: Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources: For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. Abuse of privilege.

You are accusing me of vandalism, but this is untrue. I did only what you did, which is revert an article. Here's the history:

1. You suggested I post my proposed text, which I did, and then edited the article because you didn't reply for a week. You disagreed and reverted, which is fine.

2. You then made other edits, which you did not post on the talk page to discuss (as you had asked me to do). Instead you unilaterally made the changes. I reverted the edit to YOUR original edit, not mine so we could discuss according to your own desired protocol.

3. I did not censor the content. I disagree with the content and am leaving it as before while we discuss. You, however, are using your senior editor (for lack of a better term) position to force your opinions, views, and edits through. This is an abuse of power.

4. Pages can change and sources are sometimes removed. This is not censorship. I am fine with leaving it at your original edit while we discuss but you then added MORE stuff, and when I reverted that (i.e. sources added in the last couple of days) you called it censorship. Hello, noticed you editing articles such as Janette Sadik-Khan and Nina Godiwalla. It appears that a new user, User:Veronicamar1234 is likely the same person as User:William AAAAA who has now been blocked. The new user is doing the same kinds of edits as the old one. Hello. Thought you might undo :-) Your original edit summary said "removing non-RS source": I'm sure you'd agree that external links don't have to be RS. WP:ELMAYBE point 4 says so, and I'd suggest this one might just about qualify, especially in context of an open AfD, because it gives those visiting the AfD a useful place to start when assessing the subject's notability or lack thereof. If people find lots of informative RS about the subject, those sources can go in the article and it won't need that link; if people don't, even using that link to point them at likely places to look, the article will be deleted and the link with it.

Theoretically, WP:ELYES point 3 could be argued to permit links to that and similar sites, as "neutral and accurate material that is relevant to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject and cannot be integrated into the Wikipedia article due to ... amount of detail (such as professional athlete statistics...", although not in Mr Nunes' case because for him, it only lists clubs year-by-year and has no detailed statistics. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 14:21, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

User generated social content sites such as that are fairly clearly not to be included as external links. If you feel the information on that link would somehow be useful to the AfD discussion, then by all means place a comment on the AfD with the linkage to make sure people participating in that discussion see it. Sorry, real life will keep intruding... In terms of Mr Nunes, I won't bother re-adding the link, though its existence does at least indicate he isn't a hoax; anyone likely to !vote in that AfD probably has a fair knowledge of where to find football-related info anyway.

On the general point, the site isn't one I use personally, because I rarely edit in the area (relatively recent Portuguese football, mainly) it specialises in. But it appears to have an editorial staff, journalists, and a mission statement with a commitment to accuracy. Users are encouraged to supply content and correct errors, but the edit form asks for sources, and AFAIK any information submitted is moderated by the editorial staff before it goes live. There are a couple of thousand pages on the English Wikipedia that do link to it, presumably for statistical stuff. While I wouldn't attempt to argue for its being RS, I don't see it as "clearly not to be included" as an EL on those subjects for which it does have comprehensive stats. cheers, Struway2 (talk) 15:17, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

maintenance template removal for Fahd Al-Rasheed

Hello ConcernedVancouverite (go canada!),

Thanks for the feedback regarding removing the maintenance template from Fahd Al-Rasheed's page. I am new to Wikipedia and trying to figure out the way things are done-- sorry about the mistake.

I feel that I did address the manitenance issue on the site prior to removing the maintenance template though, I did add 5 addtional sources to the entry to back the claims. Was there anything else missing? Pleaes let me know if you have any suggestions to make my post 'stronger'.

Thank you for the note. Unfortunately those citations you added were not independent reliable sources. What the article still needs is third-party independent reliable sources such as independent newspaper reports, etc. There are some details about what constitutes a reliable source here WP:RS. Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day: Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.

Question: How did you find that submission? It wasn't yet a member of the Category:G13 eligible AfC submissions. Were you stalking HasteurBot's contribution notifications? The notifications go out at the 180 day mark, which is very likely not eligible yet, the notifications go out to give users time to try and save it before a happy editor (like yourself) comes along to nominate under G13.
