It appears that you tried to give U.S. Route 85 Business (Williston, North Dakota) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. I undid your cut n paste move

Hello, Howpper. When you moved Portland metropolitan area to a new title and then changed the old title into a disambiguation page, you may not have been aware of WP:FIXDABLINKS, which says:

Before moving an article to a qualified name (in order to create a disambiguation page at the base name, to move an existing disambiguation page to that name, or to redirect that name to a disambiguation page), click on What links here to find all of the incoming links. Repair all of those incoming links to use the new article name.

• On second thought, never mind. If you had looked at Talk:Portland metropolitan area, you would have seen that this same move was proposed in 2013, and the consensus was against the proposal. The Oregon metropolitan area was deemed the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. They need to have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. U.S. Route 85B (Williams County, North Dakota)

I gave a reason when I moved it back, which is the naming convention at WP:USSH. That convention specifies that special and suffixed routes get their locations in their names, even if otherwise unique. USSH came about after the end of a VERY contentious page move war over a decade ago, and the convention was the result of an ArbCom case. Kansas City, Missouri is already listed and Kansas City, Kansas is a suburb of that. Caribou hunting in Greenland

I see you moved, without any form of discussion, the article I created eleven years ago. Never before has anyone seriously questioned the title. Discussion before such a controversial move would have been IS the right thing to do. The only question about terminology, and clarification, offered is found in the archives here. Read the last sentence.

You may not realize this, but in Greenland the deer are only referred to as "rensdyr" (reindeer). English and scientific literature tries to translate from Danish, but since there are two words in English, they often get confused and don't consistently use the "right" words in the "right" places, pretty much like English speakers also do. It really depends on whether it's a North American or someone from somewhere else who does the writing. Therefore you're placing far too much weight on a dubious distinction in words. I suspect it's possible to find articles and scientific literature which could be used to bolster each view. I chose the term used in Greenland, since it's about Greenland, and nowhere else. We shouldn't use North American terms and distinctions, unless referring to North American conditions and animals in North America.

Only in North America is there some sense of consistent usage of the two words. Otherwise, everything east of Canada (from Greenland, to Norway, Finland, Russia, and Siberia) are ALL reindeer. All of the ones we hunted in SW Greenland (there are almost no others in the country) were reindeer (there isn't much difference genetically). Nearly all the naturally occurring deer died out and the ones brought from Norway have interbred with the few remaining. Just sayin'...

I've shot 16, and there could be slight differences between animals shot one mile apart. Most of the ones I shot had wet snouts, just like cows.

To top it off, according to the Danes, Santa's Reindeer (not caribou) come from Greenland, and I shot Rudolph in 1990, as the third out of four deer that day. All sightings since then are of imposters. (I know, I know, you don't have to say it.... Santa actually lives at the North Pole (out on the ocean ice), so he must get his reindeer from Greenland, the nearest source of the animals. He also uses his office in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland, where he answers all those letters from children. The mailbox there is huge. )

King of the Dead (disambiguation)

It appears that you tried to give King of the Dead a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into King of the Dead (disambiguation). This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). Genre warring at New York Dolls articles

Your revision to the album articles was inappropriate; McNair in The Independent does not refer to either album as "glam punk", only to the band's music at the time of their inception in 1971; a necessary distinction to make when articles are vulnerable to opinion-based genre changes ("more accurate genre"). At New York Dolls, you simply ref-bombed the infobox to give the impression a point-of-view you favor outweighs any opposing views. The Guardian blurb you cited does not even mention "glam punk". I've added a quote from McNair to #Musical style, so it verifies "glam punk", which was already in the infobox. This should suffice. If in doubt, use Citation needed tag rather than reverting

You reverted the edit I had made stating Kongos (band) are South African American. Since most edits improve articles, and are made in good faith, people find it inflammatory to have their edits reverted. Therefore, you should be quite sure that something is wrong before reverting it. In this instance, where you doubted something, but apparently didn't know for sure, I would suggest using the Wikipedia:Citation_needed needed tag. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons. In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Possible attack of cyber bullying on Joe Exotic wiki page

Hi. I am an inactive user on Wikipedia, but with the recent success of Tiger King on Netflix, I was looking at the wiki for Joe Exotic, and I was shocked to see my name posted as one of Joe Exotic's children (Brandon Chappell). I can assure you that I have NO relation to Joe Exotic, but I can tell you that I have been bullied in the past by some not so pleasant people. Upon looking at the edit history, the edit made by User.Rovingrobert, added my name in the infobox as one of his children. As far as I know, Joe Exotic NEVER had any children, and given Rovingrobert's history of bullying on this wiki, he would have his administrator privileges revoked IMMEDIATELY! Picture request

Hey Howpper! Just want to start off by saying thanks for your great contributions to the website in writing content and adding media. I especially like how you have snapped a lot of pictures to be used to illustrate the articles, the Spokane area related ones in particular. They really bring the articles to life and make you feel like you’re there.

Need updated photo of campus: The treed area to the right in the scene has had the significant addition of a 100-bed psychiatric hospital and a hotel (construction crane visible)

I wanted to message you today to request another photo though, a new picture of the Sacred Heart campus from the same vantage point that you shot File:Sacred Heart Hospital.jpg since the scene has changed a lot since the time you took that photo in 2017. A psychiatric hospital, INBH was constructed at 5th and Browne in 2018 (which has no photo in the Commons yet) and a Hampton Inn primarily to serve people visiting the hospital was put in on McClellan further up above it on the lower South Hill (you can see the cranes in place to build it in that 2017 photo). I like the vantage point you used, shooting up Browne and with the elevated highway in the foreground. You can see most of the campus and it interesting how the hospital seems to gobble up Browne Street with that tunnel. I was considering retaking the photo myself but I couldn’t figure out where you took it lol. If you don’t have the time or aren’t interested, I could take it if you share the location.

Long overdue, but according to the EXIF data in that file, the photo was taken from this location (Google Maps). This appears to be eastbound I-90 at exit 281. I suspect Howpper was the passenger in a vehicle and shot the photo through their window. Alternatively, I suppose you could attempt to stop in the gore point between the interstate and the exit ramp to take a photo. Google Earth shows that you might be able to get a similar angle from the rooftop of the DoubleTree down by the Spokane River, but you'd need a fairly strong zoom to pull it off (a 70-200mm might work). A shot from street level would probably be heavily obscured by the freeway (if shot from the north side of I-90) or possibly too low (if shot from the south side of I-90). A drone shot might be possible, but because of airspace restrictions you need to be part 107 certified (commercial UAS operations) and it requires advance coordination to take off. If I can get certified by summer I might attempt to take a better shot. —Locke Cole • t • c 06:57, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
