New Section_ Franklin Loufrani page was deleted

Hi!

I had created the French version of the Franklin Loufrani page (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franklin_Loufrani) however it was deleted immediately.

And also it takes me to a discussion page: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Discussion:Franklin_Loufrani/Suppression

The reason it displays here is "The submission has not been accepted because it included copyrighted information, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. You are welcome to write an article on the subject, but please do not use copyrighted work."

However this page is the faithful translation of the English page so I am not sure why this will include copyright issues while the English page don't.

Can you look into this and shed some light on how I can create this page please?

Hi,
I'm not specifically familiar with policies on fr.wikipedia, but as I read the discussion that you've linked, I see that an article on Loufrani has been deleted twice, once in 2011 and once in 2015, and the discussion involving copyright was in regard to the 2011 article. So it may be that the actual reason for deletion in 2015 has nothing to do with copyright.
The 2015 deletion was performed by an administrator of the French wikipedia named @Litlok:, I would ask him or her for further information on their rationale for deletion, and if there is a path for appeal. Litlok's talk page is at

The page was deleted following the conclusions of the debate of 2011: the article was nothing more than a CV, and no reliable source could be found, focused on the subject of the article. Sorry, it'll have to be the other way around. I deleted the article in question based on the consensus I found in the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/SmartFocus, and won't be able to override that decision without first seeing overwhelming evidence that the article meets the specific requirements of WP:CORP, including WP:CORPDEPTH.
So, the next step would be for you to show me significant in-depth coverage published by editorially sound sources, completely independently from the company (interviews, press releases and the sort of lightly warmed over press releases often printed in business rags need not apply). Restore the Una Tribe of Mixed-Bloods page

In 2014, you deleted the article Una Tribe of Mixed-Bloods because people called it a "hoax" and said it was not sourced enough. However, since 2014, the tribe has amassed a total enrollment of more than 1,200 enrolled members. They have also made US history this year by signing two treaties with tribes in Canada and one with a state recognized Cherokee tribe in Georgia. They have also been featured on the news FOUR times now. They have also, in a news interview with KVAL, Mayor Kitty Piercy of Eugene, Oregon gave her full support for the tribes recognition. In the same interview you can see the letter of support she wrote for the tribes recognition. Their Senate President is Hafeezah Comeaux, an acclaimed author (google her).

From all of the evidence and SOURCES, this tribe is not a hoax, and the page should be restored. Here are some SOURCES for the tribes existence (international news article, TV interviews, Mayoral recognition and support, and the bill to recognize them in the State of Oregon, which was in committee in 2015 in the Oregon House of Representatives):

The tribe is definitely NOT a hoax, and has enrollment nearing 1,300. The tribe was grossly defamed and their Wikipedia page was wrongly attacked. Clearly the tribe has international presence and has been rising in profile. I believe this tribe should be on Wikipedia due to their ever growing profile and enrollment. The page should be restored. My apologies for the delay in responding. I've restored the article to Draft:Una Tribe of Mixed-Bloods
Some of the sources you've provided are clearly newer than the discussion I closed in October, so recreation is allowed. This does nothing to prevent there being another discussion, and it's not clear to me, based on my long experience at deletion discussions, what the community would decide based on the new sources.
My recommendation is that you add the best sources here if they're not already in places (the text articles will probably get more weight in your favor, interviews will tend to be seen as less "independent" than arms-length reporting pieces, etc.), and that you get feedback from another editor using our "Articles for Creation" process before having the article is restored. This is not required, but it is my recommendation, and I think provides the greatest chance that the resulting article will survive any future deletion discussion.
When you've made any further changes you'd like, simply add 
{{subst:submit}}
to the article.
Note that I've temporarily commented out the categories for the article, that will be corrected automatically if your draft is accepted.

Nobel Oil Group page - removal of reliable sources, edit warring

Since you have had interest in the page Nobel Oil Group and edited it before, could you take a look at it? Two potential sock-puppets have been messing with the page, removing reliable sources, removing any criticism and controversy surrounding the company, removing information about the owner of the company, etc. See here [1] and here [2]. Judging from the coordination of multiple IPs they will engage in edit-warring. Multiple such potentially paid users who have created or edited this very page have previously been banned as sock-puppets (e.g., User:Factsforus and User:Feelingfancyfree). Anatoly Moskvin

Hello Joe Decker, I recently created a page for the Russian Historian, Linguist and grave robber Anatoly Moskvin, as I was surprised to find that he lacked one. Today I made my page live and have only now discovered that a page did once exist for Moskvin, but it was subsequently deleted.

I was notified on the talk page that you were the deleting administrator and that, as I have created a page similar to the one deleted, I should contact you. I understand that the original page was deleted on various grounds, but I feel that my page which is far more comprehensive and extensive than the original, addresses these issues. Hi @Talfuin, thanks for the note!
I originally deleted the article as a result of the discussion at Anatoly Moskvin. A key issue for the article in that discussion was how it fared under our WP:BLP1E article. In general, we avoid having articles on people famous for one thing only, who would not have otherwise been famous. WP:PERP also provides an interpretation of this with respect to people accused of criminal behavior.
You've done some work which addresses this objection in part. It is extremely helpful that you've provided some bibliographic information, from that I was able, for example, to locate his books and his listing at Worldcat [5].
Because you've provided new evidence that relates to the reason I deleted it, there are no automatic grounds for deleting it again.
As a result, for the article to be deleted again it would have to go through another community discussion similar to the previous one I linked above, and it's hard to say whether another editor will or won't start one. If they do, it is difficult for me to be sure whether it would survive. How WP:BLP1E is interpreted by the community is often a balance of several factors.
In part, that the crimes are relatively well-covered not only in news accounts but in at least one book pushes the argument towards the article surviving.
However, the lack so far of coverage of him in unrelated subjects -- coverage such as reviews of his dictionaries, etc., would argue that we'd never have an article on him were it not for the crime.
In short, the article can stay for now, but if it is nominated for deletion I think there is a fair chance it will be deleted, but some chance it won't. You can tip those odds if you can find editorial coverage (or if I've missed some in the article--certainly possible) that covers Moskvin in any other context outside of his grave crimes. That is, in my estimation, the only serious issue, you've clearly done enormous work toward improving the article, and no matter any eventual outcome, thank you for your contributions working to improve the encyclopedia. There are two primary issues given by the participants in the discussion, both of which argue for deletion. One was that the subject doesn't meet our NACTOR and BASIC requirements, which usually boil down to significant amounts of signficant newspaper/magazine/etc. coverage of the subject in practice. The other issue had to do with the promotionally of the article, it's generally impossible to write a neutral encyclopedia article about yourself or your enterprise, WP:PSCOI has some advice should you wish to try again, but in any case, any successful attempt to recreate the article would be based on the sorts of coverage I describe. --joe deckertalk 02:18, 27 January 2016 (UTC)

Your bot

Hi, Joe,
I had a question about your bot. I regularly check the database report list of empty categories and tag most of them with a CSD C1 tag unless I know there is a question about how the category was emptied or if the category is the subject of discussion. But I prefer to tag the categories and have another admin do the deletion if the category is still empty after four days.
But I occasionally check my CSD log and look at pages that I've tagged for deletion and look at the ones that weren't deleted to see if I tagged them incorrectly. Usually what occurs is that a category is temporarily empty and then no longer is so I remove the CSD tag. But recently, I've noticed that there are empty categories, sitting in Category:Empty categories awaiting deletion that are not moved over to Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as empty categories after four days. I just checked on some empty categories I tagged on Jan. 16 and Jan. 17 that were still in the first category so I deleted them. But I'm only checking on categories that I've tagged, there might be other, older categories that have been sitting in the Empty categories awaiting deletion that need to be moved.
So, I'm just checking to see if the bot is performing its task still or if some code needs tweaking. It's just a little problem but if you could you look into it, I'd appreciate it. Thanks. Liz Read! Talk! 20:39, 22 January 2016 (UTC)

There is another article Creative Mobile (Estonia) which should be at the title Creative Mobile, as there are no other articles of that name. Joe, clearly there are new sources that establish credibility to this tribe and its people. As sourced, the tribe is now officially recognized by the Mayor of Springfield, Oregon, Christine Lundberg, as well as given full support for recognition by the Mayor of Eugene, Oregon, Kitty Piercy. It has been indicated that I need a lead sentence. I thought that the first sentence acted a lead. Does the lead go in a special place?

I tweaked the lead sentence, what you had originally read more like a few sentence fragments. I'm not sure I would have declined the article for that, it's simple to fix, but we do try for a very simple, accessible style for our encyclopedia articles. Here's more about what we eventually hope for: Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section.
For adding the hyperlinks -- are you using the "edit", or the "edit source" option? I'm guessing the standard edit option, in which case Wikipedia:VisualEditor/User_guide#Editing_links may explain it. There's a link icon, which looks like a couple segments of a chain link. If you select a word or phrase, then click that chain link icon, you can type in what you would like to link to -- the editor will even give you suggestions based on what articles already exist. I've gone and looked at the changes, and at least see what you're referring to. I think that it was missed can be traced to four factors. First, the claim of the Franklin award was nowhere in the article. Second, the discussion on the deletion was never notified you'd added a source. Third, the source you provided doesn't mention the author. Certainly the last person to comment on the discussion, who did so after the link you added, still believed your claim to be a hoax at the time, and would have been unlikely to have done so if he or she had seen your link.

Sure! The primary issue was that the version I reverted from was completely lacking references to sources that allow a reader to see why they should believe that the text is correct. We take the need for this fairly seriously on articles about living people. I don't know if you've run into our way of adding references. The easiest way to start learning how to make references on Wikipedia is to read Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners, which includes a nice video showing how to use the RefToolbar, which makes working with references a whole lot easier. You might take a look through WP:IRS and WP:V for a little background. I don't have any other issues with the text you'd added, and if a few of the most important claims were referenced, I'd have no concerns. Does that help? --joe deckertalk 03:36, 12 March 2016 (UTC)

Hi, @Honeyabigale:! First, thank you for your work here. You've more than corrected my concern--we try and very seriously hold a line here against entirely unsourced biographies of living people, and you've added sources to the article. You can also (and should) remove the references to Wikipedia itself, we look for sources with some sort of editorial authority, and "you should believe us at Wikipedia because of this other thing we said" doesn't really give much assurance to readers, but many of your other sources are fine. If you're new to Wikipedia, you may want to ask questions about how to make sense of our complex processes, I often recommend people try the WP:Teahouse to start, they're a great group of editors skilled and helping newer editors navigate the place. Finally, you've mentioned that this is your professor, that's okay, but you will probably want to take a look at WP:PSCOI just to keep on the right side of any conflict-of-interest concerns. Hi Joe. Thank you for your help and comments. We had to go through Ethics approval for this project which is to increase world knowledge Dr. Steggles was our former professor. All of us use Wikipedia. So we decided to add to the knowledge here so we are working on all the British statues sent to India that she researched. Help with Whirling

Dear Joe, I've followed you for a while. I'm having trouble with some overzealous editors who nominated whirling for deletion, and then summarily merged it, despite abundant work on this end to stave off the effort. The AfD page is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Whirling, and I've also tried to initiate a convo at Neutral POV because the editors who argued for deletion seem to be practicing very troubling (unacknowledged) forms of Orientalism. I'll be initiating a DRV and was hoping you could help intervene in favor of the original standalone dance articles versus the choppy and incoherent merger that resulted. More generally?
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a forum for advertising your product, service or other business. If you are writing about your own enterprise, it can be quite difficult to write a proper encyclopedia article--and in fact, our policies go out of their way to suggest that you do not try. Please read and understand WP:PSCOI. However, if you do wish to continue writing such an article, here's some advice.
One of the basic bars an article like this is going to have to meet is notability, which is defined under Wikipedia as being shown by coverage in arm's-length, reliable sources. These are usually things such as newspaper articles and magazine articles, and excludes the sort of "reprinted press releases" common to some local business rags--those sources must be independent and reliable.
My best advice is to start over, and then work at finding those sources. Find out what they talk about, and how. And then write your article based almost entirely on those sources. You can use primary sources to fill in entirely neutral and uncontroversial facts (where's the HQ?), but the use of primary sources should be a minimum.
This process is likely to be frustrating for you if you take any other path. You may also find the folks at the Teahouse (you should have an invite on your talk page) to be a useful resource. Thanks. --joe deckertalk 02:57, 25 March 2016 (UTC)

Disappearance of page for Group Decision Support System

There used to be a page for Group Decision Support System, but no longer. There was also at least a transient version of "Group-Decision" Support System, but that's gone. There =is= a page for "Decision Support System", but I'm not able to determine if that was what started off (or once was) the page for Group Decision Support System. I deleted the article Group-decision support systems, largely because that was consensus of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Group-decision support systems. If you're not familiar with our AfD processes that discussion will be confusing, as there is a lot more unsaid there than said, but largely, to have an article on Wikipedia, the topic needs to have been given signficant coverage in multiple, independent, arm's length reliable sources, a fuller description of this criteria, misleadingly named the "General notability guideline", can be read at WP:GNG.
There were also concerns that the article was written in a style which promotes the subject. More or less, we'd want an article on the subject to largely be a neutral summary of the sorts of things the sources above say about GDSS.
It's quite possible that both issues could be fixed. I think it's quite possible that the needed coverage exists (and glancing around a bit using Google Books and Google Scholar searches, I suspect it does.) Please direct me on how to potentially reopen the page without the PDF link and mention. In other words, I can remove the award and PDF link. The problem isn't the contested award. The problem is the lack of enough else. The consensus of the community is that the article should not be recreated in any form.
Your "options" are going to WP:DRV, or convincing the person who closed the reopened AfD that you have new evidence which invalidates the AfD. I consider both chances quite slim.

The editing interface will be changed soon. When that happens, editors who currently see two editing tabs – "Edit" and "Edit source" – will start seeing one edit tab instead. The single edit tab has been popular at other Wikipedias. When this is deployed here, you may be offered the opportunity to choose your preferred appearance and behavior the next time you click the Edit button. You will also be able to change your settings in the Editing section of Special:Preferences.

You can choose one or two edit tabs. If you chose one edit tab, then you can switch between the two editing environments by clicking the buttons in the toolbar (shown in the screenshots). Request for purging task

Is there any chance you could take on the task of purging Category:Current peer reviews and Category:Requests for peer review with your null bot? This is necessary for Category:Current peer reviews pending closure to successfully populate, which in turn is necessary for an approved bot task of mine (see Wikipedia:Bots/Requests_for_approval/BU_RoBOT_9).
