Erno Polgar

Erno Polgar

DEAR NOYSTER! Many thanks your massage. My article draft: Erno Polgar. Can You clean and publish this draft? Yours truly: Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.132.184.37 (talk) 09:36, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

I see your draft has been declined by several reviewers, but since then you have made various improvements. Further steps you could take are:
 1. Insert the references in standard format, by putting the references themselves between the "ref" "/ref" tags in the text, as described here. Don't type in index numbers as they will be inserted automatically.
 2. Your article consists of an account of your career and a list of works. It would be more encyclopedic and more likely to be approved if you could also quote critical commentary on your work by independent writers.
By the way it is not normally recommended to create a Wikipedia article about yourself, as this involves "conflict of interest" and makes it difficult for you to maintain the required neutral tone. Wikipedia is not intended for writers or anyone else to publicise themselves and their works. It exists to provide impartial information about subjects satisfying our "notability" criteria. You may take the steps I have suggested and submit the article again, but I can't promise that it would be retained, or, if retained, that other editors will not amend it: Noyster (talk), 10:04, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

OK good, you've now found some outside commentary. Don't tell me, add it to the article! I've linked you the guidance in how to add references properly, and I see no reason to expect someone else to do this work for you: Noyster (talk), 13:10, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

Hi I did it. What do You think about it? Same time I wish to You a HAPPY NEW YEAR! Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eitan ben Avrohom (talkcontribs) 15:10, 30 December 2014 (UTC)

You still need to incorporate the references into your text (repeat link: here) so that readers can make sense of them.
Unfortunately the quotations you have included in the "Have written about him" section do not appear to be supported by the references you give. You need to find other references where these precise quotations can be seen, or use other published quotations. Can you not locate any reviews of your books or plays?
Your Ref 15 - does not mention your name
Your Ref 16 - links only to a Hungarian Wikipedia article. "Wikipedia is not a reliable source"
Your Ref 17 - lists your career dates and works, but does not include the comment quoted
Your Ref 18 - does not include the comment quoted, but does describe you as a "prominent writer" and states that you have won the Knight's Cross of the Order of Merit in your country. This is the only reference that appears useful in this section.
Your Ref 19 - is only a profile page of the person you are quoting and does not mention your name.
Sorry but you have more to do here: Noyster (talk), 10:37, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

""Dear Noyster""! Please to see the "new" article, after a lot of work. Yours sincerely: Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eitan ben Avrohom (talkcontribs) 13:47, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

At least it's readable now! I repeat that it would improve the article if you could find and quote independent reviews of your literary works.
When you wish to publish the article you may:
 1. Publish it straight away by selecting the "Move" tab, then changing the entry in the first box on screen from "Draft" to "(Article)" - but anyone may then propose deletion at any time
 2. Use the WP:Articles for creation process again: that way the article will be checked by an experienced reviewer before being published: Noyster (talk), 15:07, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

Dear NOYSTER! Many thanks for You the lot of helps. Yours concerely: Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eitan ben Avrohom (talkcontribs) 09:21, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Dear NOYSTER! What do You think about the "move"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Erno_Polgar Which is the next step? Yours Truly: Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eitan ben Avrohom (talkcontribs) 09:46, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Unless you can find further improvements to the content, there are really no more steps. Now you have to wait and see what other editors make of it. At an early stage I did try to discourage you from writing an article about yourself - but - well, maybe it will stay: Noyster (talk), 10:44, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Dear NOYSTER! Thanks for all of helps! Now I would like to edit a photo about me. Can You help me? I made this photo: https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ern%C5%91_Polg%C3%A1r

Many thanks! Eitan ben Avrohom — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eitan ben Avrohom (talkcontribs) 13:48, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Please refer to Help:Introduction to uploading images/1. Sorry but I have no more time to help you with your publicity. There are plenty of online help pages available to read. Also, you should not remove tags placed by other editors without dealing with the problem, or at least discussing the matter. Finally, if you plan to keep posting on talk pages, please sign your posts with the ~~~~ and don't use a space before the first word. Goodbye: Noyster (talk), 13:59, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

constitucion

Many thanks for your contribution to this article it was much appreciated

Please can you review the recent edits made after your improvements to this page. Winkelvi doesnt appear to be interested in improving the article and instead seems to favour deleting large parts of interesting and viable information. Surely contributors should contribute at least equivalent of what they delete. Winkelvi seems to enjoy deleting others work. Citing reasons such as foreign language sources. Thank you in advance for your rationailty. 30/12/2014 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.222.243.182 (talk) 04:35, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

I think the Constitución, Chile article is now in an acceptable state. There has been some misunderstanding about the Spanish-language references, but these have been restored along with much of the deleted content, and the article is now written in a better standard of English than before: Noyster (talk), 10:16, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks Noyster. Appreciate all your help and good work. As mentioned on the Constitucion talk page there is a mistake with regards to to the wood pulp plant which is still open.

The Ramal is a type of narrow gauge rural train service and is the last remaining in Chile. Ramals were extensively constructed across the country funded by money from the saltpeter boom. They never made any money and therefore private enterprises never invested in the operations of these services. Private companies only operated services for coal and copper mines. All the other ramals closed as a result of government cutbacks. Constitucions Ramal stayed open as it was used slightly more a large impact being the workers for the celulosa (wood pulp) plant.

The link I put on the talk page has amazing old photos of constitucion and the Ramal (the PDF). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 201.222.243.182 (talk) 12:42, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Noyster: please keep in mind that this IP requesting concession caused great disruption at the article, including IP hopping to escape detection, vandalizing my user space repeatedly, vandalizing articles I had recently edited, and is likely a long-blocked sock-master who has a history of vandalization and disruption. He is the reason the article and my user space are both semi-protected. Should we be rewarding his unwanted and disruptive behavior by editing the article at his request? Since there's no deadline in Wikipedia, surely his requests can wait until the article is no longer locked and he can once again attempt editing (hopefully this time in a cooperative, collegial, and non-disruptive manner). -- WV 14:56, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

@Winkelvi:, thank you for all your improvements to the article. Of course we don't want to encourage disruptive behaviour, nor dance to the tune of anyone who engages in it; but I think that serious demonstrable errors of fact shouldn't remain in an article, no matter who points them out: Noyster (talk), 18:23, 31 December 2014 (UTC)
I agree that egregious errors shouldn't stand. I was concerned you possibly weren't aware of who the IP actually is and what he had been involved in. He seems to be unfazed by what he's been doing and possibly encouraged since his requests for edits have been fulfilled. That does none of us or the 'pedia any favors, of course. Happy New Year to you. -- WV 20:46, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Thank you for all your positive constibutions and logical analysis of the situation. I think its important that we remember the ethos of wikipedia is not about pointscoring or individual battles, it is about providing trustworthy, quality information in a collabarative way. We should try and set personal differences aside in order to provide the best solutions for society as a whole. Wikipedia is a social project and correctly shouldnt be dominated by any individual, group or writers bias. I appreciate your diligence in supporting these values.

With that in mind I would like to make reference to the deletetion of the section on Pedro Munoz. Sadly he lost his life trying to save as many people as possible from the island in the River Maule in the interim between the earthquake and the tsunami. Chileans view him as a hero and his story moved me. The article is here http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/americas/03/08/chile.sacrifice/

I urge caution when putting a personal matter above consideration for those involved in such a tradgedy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.9.4.163 (talk) 21:37, 2 January 2015 (UTC)

You've put your thoughts on the article talk page which is where they belong, no need to repeat them here or deliver a sermon: Noyster (talk), 08:51, 3 January 2015 (UTC)

Fair enough - Im sad that is how you feel. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.11.38.0 (talk) 03:37, 5 January 2015 (UTC)

Hi, thank you so much for your guidance. You've made yourself perfectly clear.

Captain Smith's actions

I am deleting the following from the Edward Smith page;

"Captain Smith, aware that there were not enough lifeboats for all of the passengers and crew, appeared to have become emotionally paralyzed by indecision as he began to realize the enormity of what was about to happen. He did not issue a general call for evacuation, failed to order his officers to load the lifeboats, failed to supervise and coordinate the evacuation effort, did not adequately organize the crew, withheld crucial information from his officers and crewmen, and gave sometimes ambiguous and impractical orders; in one example in an hour after the collision, Fourth Officer Joseph Boxhall was still unaware that the ship would sink."

This is just one of those often repeated myths accepted as hearsay; the truth is that Smith was quite active from all eyewitness accounts in overseeing the loading and launching of the boats. There is no evidence he suffered a breakdown or became paralyzed by indecision. Captain Smith was extremely busy during the whole evacuation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.144.254.239 (talk)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited List of people from Barnsley, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page National Union of Mineworkers. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Further post from Mahendra Niraula

Hello, Noyster I am so shocked in this moment but on the one hand it should have checked & suggested , you reverted instead thank you for your successful attempt you made.I think you shouldn't have reverted at a glance & you should have given warning but you did it without caring the editor.I am fully known about the article I made because I am local resident of the " pathibhara devi"where everyday I make observation about the pilgrimage who make their journey to pathibhara temple therefore, on the direct basis I have collected the informations from the experienced individuals & have feeling of pilgrimages about the journey. The articles are not so much exagrated more the factual evidences this is why I think it should be saved well. I hope, once more you make your eyes on this articles & find or guess what it would be when it is saved.

No-one could have improved your contribution, because it just did not belong in the article. Please see this link: Wikipedia is an encyclopedic reference, not an instruction manual, guidebook, or textbook. If you wish to submit your material about the temple online you could try Wikivoyage, though even there I can't say whether it would be accepted.
I have spent quite a lot of time reading your comments and answering them, and I don't see how I can help you further. If you post here again I'm going to ask other editors to review your contributions and consider how best to proceed[[User:Noyster|: Noyster at first good mrng ! OK, I also see that you have spent much time on my comments but I don't accuse of reverting on purpose, & you have had rights to check the articles whether it is fit to save or not but I again wanna say you that you have been helping me checking articles & others. It doesn't matter you have not helped but I don't think you need to ask other editor while you are there as expert guy. You see you also feel quite hopeless & upset if something you did have been removed or deleted. But I am already become doubtful on it that my contributions might be unfit so I hesitate to post now even thought I keep my attempts up until I am successful to give my remarkable contributions for Wikipedia. You guy don't try to be biased or try to be just legitimate for all of us that's why we everyone would be inspired to give something for Wikipedia. Don't feel any bore to view & warn the vandalised works people make. I hope you my further articles would be accepted soon. Bi...Mahendra Niraula....Noyster]] (talk), 08:38, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Christine Cavanaugh

I don't see why you reverted my edit. I didn't say it was confirmed but that there is a high suspicion. I feel that it is unjust to leave it as "undisclosed" when several sources have cited the same cause of death. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 5.22.130.135 (talk) 09:12, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

@5.22.130.135: I reverted your edit because as I said on your talk page at the time: The two sources referenced for this sentence don't support any speculation on the cause of death, so we'd better wait until the cause is confirmed and reported in reliable publications. The two sources both said "according to Wikipedia she had been suffering from" a form of leukemia, but didn't say anything about this being a likely cause of death, so we can't say it in the article either (also, "Wikipedia is not a reliable source"). If you have other reliable sources that do support throat cancer as a likely cause of death, you are welcome to add such a statement to the article, provided you quote the references. This page is a guide explaining how to add references. Thank you: Noyster (talk), 09:28, 8 January 2015 (UTC)

Captain Smith's actions

You will see that I have repeated one of the above sections but I will explain more about it. Now, and for the last time. On the article, "Sinking of the Titanic", a user, DrKiernan keeps modifying the section about Smith's actions during the evacuation. He or she in the effort to make 'official' the cinematographic image of Smith walking around in shock, keeps repeating the stories written by authors while he/she keeps cancelling all the more reliable evidence from other survivors - including the enquiry testimony of Arthur G. Peuchen, not one of the thousands of far-fetched accounts given by researchers - that Smith was quite active in overseeing the loading and launching of the boats. Excuse me for being so rude but this has been repeated for nearly a year and without him/her ever making a justification or asking anything, just erasing everything goes against what they state. Reply to me on my talkpage. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.13.19.45 (talk) 08:13, 10 January 2015 (UTC)

Using font tags in your signature

Hello there! I'm working on a project trying to bring most of the coding on Wikipedia up to the most current standards (HTML5), and I noticed that your signature is using <font>...</font> tags which were deprecated in HTML 4.0 Transitional, marked as invalid in 4.0 Strict, and are not part of HTML5 at all. I'd love to help you update your signature to use newer code, and if you're interested, I suggest replacing:

: <span style="color:seagreen;">Noyster</span> <span style="color:seagreen;"> (talk)</span>,

with:

: <b style="color:seagreen">Noyster</b> <span style="color:seagreen"> (talk)</span>,

which will result in a 124 character long signature with an appearance of: : Noyster (talk), compared to your existing 124 character long signature of: : Noyster (talk), — Either way. Happy editing! Darylgolden(talk) Ping when replying 12:08, 15 January 2015 (UTC)
