Uploading an image
Hi, thought I would write the image instructions for future reference:
- Click "upload file", located in the toolbar marked "toolbox" on the left hand side, below the search box.
- You will see a list of possible licenses for the image. Click one. You will be given instructions about what is/is not acceptable under the image use policy.
- Below that, there is the upload form. The first box is "source filename", which is the name of the image on your computer. Click browse, open the image, and the full URL to your documents will appear.
- By default, the image filename will be the same as the source's filename. Do not use default filenames. For example, if you had a picture of Britney Spears called
SpearsB566/23.jpg, rename it toBritney Spears in 2008.jpg. If renaming, remember to keep the file extension, eg. the.jpg. - Fill in the licensing information. You need a full source, ie. the full URL; the book title and page number if it's a scan, etc. Please read through the fair use rationale guidelines for further instructions. You must use a fair use image in at least one article.
- Click "upload this file".

I'm not the primary contributor, though I do admit I've had to revert a LOT of additions by anonymous users who've been adding hoaxes. Some sections are updated, but unfortunately, getting reliable and updated published sources is a bit difficult. The forum often used as a reference is frequented by active and reserve members of the Armed Forces, so sometimes the only way to get reliable news is through them. Airline Sex Discrimination
Hi, just wanted to say thanks for your work on the article and in particular your contributions to the deletion discussion - it is confusing when people just quote some strange rule without actually explaining their position.
There seems to be a small minority who wish to see this policy hidden away (other people have tried to remove mentions of it from the actual pages of the airlines too), and as you've seen others question clear facts such as whether it is even sex discrimination. I've put a lot of work into the article and it is frustrating to see people trying to erase it solely because they don't like references to discrimination against men. I have just completed the talk page section on it I feel that as a seperate article the level of detail could be great enough to allow the various schools a section and mention the inter-connectedness of them right now is a hash of adverts claims and counter claims. Some of which coudl be cleared up with more room an it would allow the main article to get back to the art (regardless of who is or isn't legit) and discussing that. Sorry it that was ranty, I have my own views on ninja legitimacy but have been trying to referee two POV pushers and stay neutral. Frankly, I believe it is arbitrary. You cannot put all of the images on there, so I believe the Main editor simply plucked a few of the images and put them in the list. You will have to ask them. It probably means that they are only accessible by foot, or need some kind of permit to access, or something. a backpacker in this case is someone who walks through the wilderness and stays at least one night there, carrying only a backpack for supplies. I've just been disambiguating many links about that in the last few hours ... I didn't know about the above meaning of "backpacker" until today, because it's never used in Australia. Measured how - number of aircraft? But quality varies vastly. Number of serving personnel? Ditto. Cost? And to what end? I'm not sure that any simplistic list measurement is very useful. For example if you are interested in ranking for the purposes of air to air combat, then the RNZAF will be pathetic. On the other hand ability to do relief or search and rescue work would be rather higher...and are we talking now, or all time - as the RNZAF was once rather more important on the world stage than it is today. Breaking means that the ship was broken up, as per the article Ship breaking. The phrase 'sold for breaking' is commonly encountered, but can be clarified a little for the less nautically inclined by saying 'sold for breaking up. I'll amend the article. Benea (talk) 16:32, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
History of antisemitism in the United States
I don't have time this morning to quibble with you over every section that you deleted. Most of it can be sourced. To me, "unsourced" is often a euphemism for "I don't believe it" or "this is POV". If something is inaccurate, then fix it rather than delete it. If it's POV, then make it NPOV by presenting the other side.
I do not have an "agenda" to push on this article although much of what is written on this topic does tend to be POV. If there are POV sections, then let us present the opposing point of view and source both sides.
Over the next week, I will be readding the text that you deleted with sources. I welcome your help on this article. However, I am confident that the topics that I have included deserve to be discussed. In some cases, there was excessive detail which I am more than willing to delete. However, I am also confident that article quality is improved by working on improving sections of imperfect text rather than deleting them.

Since it's from The Chronicles of Narnia, and if there's enough material to support an article, I'd say sure. Beyond that, notability is something I find really fuzzy. Yes, it does lack citations, but not because none exist; The source is the Narnia books. Someone just needs to put the citations in. I tagged the article accordingly. Iranian Armenians
That was not my statement but it was written there and questioned whether it is true. As I saw that was sourced by Encyclopedia Orient. That Encyclopedia gives usually good and fair estimates. Now it writes that there are 500000 Iranian Armenians. Honestly I think there might be this much Armenian Iranians, but many do not live in Iran, but elsewhere in the world. Nord Stream - answer
North Transgas was predecessor of the Nord Stream project. Technically its the same project and the main partner (Gazprom is same). However, legally Nord Stream is not the same project and as of today, North Transgas project company was terminated. North European Gas Pipeline is the name, which is officially changed to Nord Stream (by the company). Re Stanthorpe
It started out from Tin mining but no mine there now. They grow apples mainly I believe? A lot of old towns started as mining towns. Typically old gold mining towns. Only started to try an tidy this article up a little, having linked to it from the newly created Bundjalung article. The overlapping details of Aboriginal names, beliefs, and mythology all looks a bit messy and requires the kind of attention that I can't quite give it.
With regard to eruption dates .. given that the area is on the World Heritage list .. if the National Parks websites don't give this info, then it will most likely included on the Cwlth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and Arts 'National Heritage Register'. 52nd Foot
My regimental knowledge is pretty much during the Napoleonic wars (I'll have to research the other periods), but at that time they were equipped with muskets. Early on, there was some talk of providing rifles, but expected/perceived supply issues of rifled weapons caused them to stick with muskets. As you can imagine, this made for interesting skirmishing. The French were equipped with muskets also, so fire-fights probably took place at distances of about 50 yds! If you had nerves of steel, you'd wait for your opposite number to come within 10 yds. Hi, Nice job of creating the Herbert Bareuther article. I tried verifying the claim that Bareuther is a legitimate recipient of the Knight's Cross. I am afraid to say that to my opinion he fails to meet the criteria. He is not listed in

Hi, Otolemur. I think it's about the institution of the Kandakes, who were queens, queen consorts and queen mothers in the Kushite Empire. Unfortunately, the creator of the article seems to have been writing a lot of unsourced OR to push a POV on the Kandakes, Africa and Pan-Africanism e.g. on Kandake and Amanirenas. I'm removing some of this type of material from Candacate, but I'm not even sure it's a real or notable term. I've never heard of it and Google shows 8 results, with no non-WP references other than coypying from an old version of the WP article. It may warrant deletion. Reading the cited source, and looking at the map, the answer seems to be that Kemano is the name for the whole project, so the first dam is called Kemano 1, the second is Kemano 2 and so on. Nowhere in the source is there reference to a "Kemano dam" without a series number. So I guess that means the correct name for the first dam on the Kemano system is Kenney. Glancing over the site, I'd give an emphatic "yes" to it being a WP:RS. The article you asked about is heavily footnoted and written by a Professor of the history of science. The fact that ideological concepts were at work, and that these concepts concerned racial hygiene etc is supported by the subsequent sentences and their citations. - Very nice article overall, but it leaves me with two points I'm not sure about: 1) was the decline of the use of cigarettes during 1939-1945 the result of Nazi policies, or because there was a war going on, which naturally meant lower consumption of luxury goods? 2) I'm not sure that the statement "tobacco health research is silenced in Germany today" is accurate. Generally, European states have adopted a sometimes extreme anti-smoking stance of late. This statement should either be toned down, or, if indeed accurate, supported by a few more citations. I told Xiaphias yesterday about this article which he tried to speedy on this second article by User Yepii here more than 2 months ago but its still online at Wikipedia. Its the Yepii Party. Here is my comments on it: I checked the online 'reference' for the Yepii party and its just a blog site. It looks like a fringe party when the site says: "College loan officers are terrorists. Those who practice job discrimination are terrorists. Construction workers who wolf whistle at women are terrorists. This is where the real war [on terrorism] must be fought." Not exactly very inviting. I did a google check on its name and came across this result here I would say its likely WP:FRINGE and not notable. Wiki frustration
Mate, you have a heavy dose of Wiki-depression on your editor's page statements. Lighten up - I always compare Wikipedia like having a really large circle of friends, where everybody has some specialty that he likes talking about and is more or less knowledgable on. With articles, like with your friends, you have to constantly make decisions whether or not to trust what they are saying, based on what they said before and whether it helped/was correct. In case of Wikipedia, context - is the article well-written in style and grammar, does it have lots of references - are your main clues there. If you REALLY, REALLY need 'truth', you can (hopefully, if its a good article) go straight to the references and external links. Wikipedia is a clearing-house, a first stop if you are researching something (or the only stop, if you were simply curious, and no harm done).
I'm a horrible perfectionist too, and I sometimes ache under the knowledge that it won't ever be perfect (see my talk page infobox) but its fun AND useful. Someone said that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. No knowledge is even worse.Ingolfson (talk) 09:42, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi, Otolemur. Article talk pages aren't really the place to ask general questions about the topic itself, they're for discussions related to improving the article. So, I'll try to answer your question here. The most important blunder was attacking the USSR before having subdued Britain, thus ensuing a 2-front war. Then, on an operational level, the fiasco at Stalingrad, and the attack at Kursk were two of Hitler's worst mistakes against the Soviets, and coupled with his insistence to hold every inch of ground and to never retreat, it spelled disaster. Had Hitler allowed his generals to operate independently, to conduct local withdrawals to shorten the lines, withdraw and then immediately counterattack (2nd Kharkov is a successful example of that tactic) etc., the war may have ended differently. Also, Hitler's constant meddling with arms production greatly hindered the German war industry (making too many different types of vehicles, which inhibited streamlining and mass production). There were also problems with Hitler's handling of the war in North Africa (i.e., not finishing off Malta when he had the chance, not ensuring Rommel had adequate supplies and forces, etc.), but these are of lesser importance than the Eastern Front. Lastly, declaring war on the United States was a blunder as well, because Roosevelt had no intention of going to war with Germany prior to that declaration. I hope that answers your questions. - Oh, another thing I forgot to mention earlier; Hitler also forbade the construction of any secondary or tertiary defensive lines, because he thought it would encourage commanders to retreat prematurely if they knew they had prepared positions behind their main lines. This of course had severe ramifications when the Soviets inevitably did break the main German defenses, and the rear area was essentially open for exploitation. - I would say that it's probably questionable whether it would've had a major effect or not. The Blitz had no real effect on the outcome of the war, (which would lead one to believe that a rocket bombardment of British cities wouldn't either) and the V-2s weren't "smart" enough to be used to attack specific military targets (which would more or less preclude them from being used to bombard British airbases, etc.) It would've been more productive to pursue jet fighters that were capable of outfighting Allied escorts (oh yes, another Hitler blunder, he insisted that the early Me-262s be designed as attack aircraft, which delayed their employment as interceptors) instead of Hitler's "toys".
- Now, if Germany had seriously sought to develope a nuclear bomb, and was able to engineer it enough to fit into a V-2 rocket (a tremendous task indeed), it then could have had an extremely dramatic effect on the war. Parsecboy (talk) 16:52, 23 June 2008 (UTC)

To further address this topic, my lectures always include at the very, very least, 3 major factors as major contributors to the failed effort of the axis. It must be pointed out that all too often the word "Axis" is unfortunately synonomous with "Germany". That being said, the 3 major factors below are indeed affixed to the German Reich - understanding that in a conflict so far reaching and complez, the notion of wining/losing, succeeding/failing, etc. are broad topics easily becoming topics for discussion and debate.
As provided above, Hitler's strategic and tactical errors resultant from establishing large active combat fronts both in the East and the West were certainly one of the major blunders. Many works on strategy, tactics and historical treatises support this, both before and after the event.
As I travel the time lines for this conflict, the other 2 major problems were; 2) Hitler's failure to allow the design and implementation of long range bombers for the Luftwaffe. Superficially, the obvious drawbacks here are also well documented and emphasized in fact and in deed by the success of the British and American bombing campaigns where long range bombers were central in winning the fight for continental Europe. Finally, 3) ... Hitler's refusal to allow his Naval Admiral - Doenitz (specifically) - to augment and intensify the U-Boat (Submariners) strategies in North Atlantic, especially during the hey-day of the Lend/Lease implementations as the wartime productions for the allies grew.

See Hindu-German Conspiracy#Note on the name which should explain this. It is referred to as Indo-German conspiracy in some historical works, especially those written by Indian historians. Hindu-German conspiracy is more an American term, especially used upto 1950s, because Hindu (or Hindoo) at the time was a term to describe all Indians, and the Annie Larsen fiasco, the first of the major plots to ship arms to India, was reported in American media as the Hindu-German conspiracy at the time (the trial was called Hindu-German Conspiracy Trial). Indian historians use Indo-German conspiracy to trace the conspiracy from the European arm (which preceded and linked into the Ghadar episode in America) to the plans that the Indians had to recieve the very arms that were impounded from the Annie Larsen and the plans that they had to utillise the arms in India (The German plot).

I'd be careful using articles like the one you mention, though, as it does not primarily deal with Durga Vahini - it's a more general article with a small section on them. As such it's probably safe to use it to expand the article, thougyh it wwould be far better to try to find an article dealing mainly with Durga Vahini. Finished Whiteway, Bath
I have completed the article Whiteway, Bath and I am hoping it won't be deleted.
The main aim is to give people living in this area something that appears in the listings when they enter "Whiteway" into Google.
Please could the article appear as one of the choices when people type "Whiteway" into Wikipedia, along with the other contexts such as "Whiteway Colony", "Dean Whiteway" etc?

BOT or NO BOT
You asked me how to tell if an I/P vandal is a bot. If you mean a Wikipedia bot, then those always seem to have "BOT" in the name, so an anon I/P isn't going to be a Wikipedia bot. However, there is a formal way to check, by going here: [7]. Enter the name to check on the top line and pick "Bots" on the bottom line, then pick the "Go" button. - Now, as for non-Wikipedia bots, that's not as clear cut. I'd go to the contribution list for that I/P and see if it's making dozens of edits per minute, that would tell you it's a bot. Or, alternatively, it may do something repeatedly after a given time increment. Are all the changes of the same type, like blanking pages or inserting the same chunk of text ? Then it's likely a bot. I am impressed by your contribution to the above mentioned article. However, this seems to rely extensively on the work by Proctor, which is indeed a good source. However, recent work throws new light on the issue, and this might as well be reflected in the article. Two references are particularly notable:

- No, the user must first reply to your email for you to be able to view their email address. On the other hand, if you email another user, your email address is visible to the other user without reply. This is for privacy and security more than anything.
- Technically you do not need email enabled to become an administrator, but it is highly reccomended. If you don't want to reveal your personal email address, I'd suggest creating a Wikipedia-specific address on Hotmail or Gmail.

- Tried that and it still didn't seem to work. One of those weird Wiki problems.
- I had a similar sort of problem like this a while back. If I linked to a commons image by typing the name of the image into an image string, it simply wouldn't display the image, it would only recognize the image if I did a copy-and-paste from the commons image name itself, even though the two strings were as far as I could tell absolutely identical. And this didn't happen with just one image, but with dozens of them. Could I have been mistyping every image name? Highly unlikely. I'm still scratching my head over that one... Credible author
Hello. A credible authors' reference is being "overrided" by edit-warring. I recently tried to add to the telescope article but this editor seems to think that his opinion overrides a VERY credible author in Mr. Richard Powers. I've been blocked before for edit-warring recently, so I don't want this to be another incident on my record.
Anyway, the other editor seemed to have asked his friend-type editors to form a consensus, so I will do the same. The Islamic connection here is, Al-Haytham. He is FUNDAMENTAL to the telescope and the FATHER of optics. By definition, the summary can include him since the radio and electro-magnetic telescopes are derogatory to the average person looking at the article; I wanted to add it to the history section since it looked cleaner. Freedom Press
Actually, the disambiguation page and redirect are fine as they were; if someone follows a link to Freedom Press, it alerts them to the fact that there are two distinct entities with this name. The fact that one of them is now a redirect is largely immaterial; any links to the US Freedom Press should still be linked directly there rather than piped to David Steinman. Why? If at some future date, the someone writes enough about Freedom Press to warrant splitting it into its own article again, all of the links will already be valid and in place. After a brief look over it, I'd say it's a pretty close call, but it'd be more reliable than most sources, however, it doesn't appear to be on the same tier as The New York Times or the Associated Press. So, I don't think it'd be a bad source to use, but there'd be better ones, if available. The fact of "evolution" is that organisms change over time, the "theory of evolution" explains why this happens.
