  1. User:Sitush. I use British newspaper archives mostly for biographical and history articles and make regular use of my ability to access those for The Guardian and The Times that are available to me already via my local library. I recently took out a month's subscription to the BNA because it contains a vast selection of useful sources beyond those to which I already have access. Alas, I can't keep paying for it and so I've just grabbed items that are being incorporated into a new article about John Leigh, the first Medical Officer of Health in Manchester, and that might be useful for further expansion of William Beach Thomas. - Sitush (talk) 21:02, 19 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

My favourite topics are, among others, Russian History, Sports, academic journals, arts, music and politics. I would like to improve articles by searching for better citations, and expanding articles of politicians and historical figures who deserve a more detailed article. @Racklever: Most of the newspapers in the collection, are only covered up through the middle of the 20th century. Could you be more specific about what types of biographical articles you mean to update, Sadads (talk) 17:03, 20 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
@Sadads:I would like to expand biographies of 19th century and early 20th century politicians and business leaders. Access to the obituaries which were printed in papers would be helpful.--Racklever (talk) 18:09, 20 June 2014 (UTC) (member of the 50,000 edit club[reply]

  4. I am a published researcher on Phineas Gage and have been working on that article for several years to bring it up to date with the most current research. Gage's case was widely reported in the popular press in the 19th c, and in the last 20 years we've had good luck tracking down reports of him in American papers and magazines. However, there's much still to be done with British publications. This is especially important because we believe there may be British advertisements for Gage's employer in Chile. Can you please gives some links to articles that show your commitment to content development or reference desk work. Also what is your upcoming article agenda? @Fraggle81: We are mostly getting these accounts for content creators. The way I understand it, most topics of interest or covered by this database would not be receiving vandalism (historical biographies/events mostly). We are in the process of getting Find My Past set up (same company), that includes a broader set of materials more suited for birthdate checking, etc. which my be of better use for counter vandalism. Can you confirm that this is what you need and clarify how it would help with counter-vandalism? Sadads (talk) 15:49, 25 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I have a large gap in what I can reference with regards to historical British topics since other sources I have access to do not cover the range of historical material that the BNA collection does. 44. Emeraude (talk · contribs) - Active since 2006 with greater than 40,000 edits. Main areas of work on Wikipedia are historical, French culture and politics; for this latter I am especially interested in minor political parties, their members and supporters - previously an area that I researched academically. I am particularly keen to use contemporary reports of such parties/politicians. This area is rarely covered in detail in the press and to write/edit reliably on these topics would be much easier (and acceptable) with access to a wider range of sources. Now retired, I have no other way of accessing such material.

  94. This is Paul (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email). I've been here since April 2008 and have over 60,000 edits. Mostly I tend to work on articles about British politics, current affairs, television, film, popular music and British crime. This would be very useful for things like the early years in British television (which are often difficult to source), movies and popular artists from the 40s and 50s, as well as notorious cases from the past. Also I'd be interested in tackling recent history articles such as 1952 London Smog and North Sea Flood of 1953, and finding something on the early years of the Royal National College for the Blind. As the 100 places seem to be almost full though, I'm happy to wait for the trial period to run its course and join the next round. This is Paul (talk) 23:26, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Many of my articles would easily be GA if not FA class though I have rarely submitted them to either process. I have been somewhat inactive for the last three years due to increased off-Wiki responsibilities, however, I now have the opportunity to return to a higher level of editing and am looking forward to doing so. Old approved renewals[edit]

  1. Michig (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My subscription appears to have expired yesterday despite an email from BNA a while back stating that it would automatically renew. I have made extensive use of BNA in the last 12 months, allowing me to create articles on many early 20th century British boxers among other areas, so another 12 months would be much appreciated. Thanks. --Michig (talk) 08:23, 28 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Michig: Approved However, please be aware there will be a delay in processing access requests because of summer holidays. Nikkimaria (talk) 15:03, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  2. Thincat (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) My subscription has also expired after 1 year although I don't seem to have had an email saying it would renew. I was accepted as #37 at Wikipedia:BNA/Approved and have used BNA in several articles, for example [9][10][11] Thincat (talk) 12:16, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  3. Tony Holkham (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Hoping I can have a renewal now my 1 year subscription has expired. I have used BNA quite a bit to improve Pembrokeshire and RNLI articles and would like to continue. Thanks. Tony Holkham (Talk) 22:18, 30 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Nikkimaria: How's it going? Any chance of a renewal shortly - after a summer wikibreak I'm keen to get going again. Cheers. Tony Holkham (Talk) 22:45, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Tony Holkham: It should have been processed already - can you check your account to confirm? Nikkimaria (talk) 23:22, 9 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  4. Jeff5102 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Last year I used the BNA, and it worked fantastic when using it for, among others, the 1931 Menshevik Trial, and the Charles Harvey Combe-article. Therefore, I would like to continue my BNA-subscribtion for another year. Best regards,Jeff5102 (talk) 09:48, 1 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  5. Struway (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) Another one whose subscription has expired... I've used BNA in creating/improving footballer bios e.g. the GA Albert Bonass, GA nom James Crumley, Dick Healey (footballer), Mick Connaboy, and numerous shorter ones, and would like to continue. @Nikkimaria: Thanks. But it looks like I messed up and left the "2" off my username: should be Struway2 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email). There won't be any live email associated with the long-dead Struway-without-the-2 account. Sorry to be a nuisance. Struway2 (talk) 15:21, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
@Struway2: For all renewal requests I used the email associated with the initial application, which in your case appears to have been that of the Struway2 account. Nikkimaria (talk) 15:26, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  6. Shyamal (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) The last year of subscription was extremely useful and fruitful although I have not kept count of the BNA citations that I added. The obituaries have been especially helpful. Shyamal (talk) 12:14, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  7. Carrite (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) - Looks like I've expired. This has had a bit of functionality for me but hasn't been even 1/20th as useful as Newspapers.com I will leave it to your discretion whether to renew me or not — I suppose the question is whether there is a queue for subscriptions or whether they are in surplus. Thanks. Carrite (talk) 22:04, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  8. Ad Orientem (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I have found BNA to be somewhat helpful in various projects, however, and to be honest, I have gotten a lot more mileage out of the Library of Congress online newspaper archive, which is also happily free. So while I would like to keep the BNA subscription, I don't want it to be at the expense of someone who has a stronger need. Please consider me if there are extra/unwanted subscriptions. Otherwise give mine to someone who will use it more extensively. Thanks... -Ad Orientem (talk) 22:30, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  9. Tmol42 (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I have found access to the newspaper archive useful in adding more 'ephemeral' information to settlement articles that history books etc tend to pass by and occaisionally to biographies when filling in dates and events, obit details etc. Hopefully over the next 12 months the BNA will be further enhanced by more early 20th century editions. Thanks to all those at Wikipedia and BNA who have negotiated this facility. Tmol42 (talk) 23:42, 8 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was the main editor on the article Morayshire Railway and need to complete a few blanks and hope the papers Aberdeen Journal, Elgin Courant, Elgin Courier and Inverness Courier can supply these. I have begun researching the article Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway with a view to expanding it and I think these newspapers and maybe some others would also be beneficial. I'm currently working on the Bristol derby article, but at the moment I only have a single source for most of the information I'm adding and it would be useful to have some additional verification. — Gasheadsteve Talk to me 11:01, 9 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  36. Fuhghettaboutit (talk · contribs · central auth · count · email) I am a regular contributor, with about 87,000 edits (including deleted). I write on a variety of subjects: I've had 10 articles, predominantly written by me, achieve good status and 3 have been promoted as featured articles – with a few in the pipeline. I often use research access to help others with their writing efforts here, as well as to check sources for verification. I also spend quite a bit of time checking claimed and suspected copyright violations, which requires access to a diversity of sources. I have actually needed access to this database a few times to verify content and had to turn to the fine folks at WP:RX for secondary access.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:35, 18 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

    @TLSuda:, I had a look and my account hasn't yet been updated - I thought renewal only took a few days? WormTT(talk) 09:19, 18 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
