Current requests for reduction in protection level
[edit]Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.
- To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
- Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
- Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
- If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Reason: The protection is no longer necessary because there are errors. He was never a Command Sergeant Major. His max rank was Master Sergeant. ....... . Jhbuck (talk) 14:28, 14 August 2024 (UTC)
Current requests for edits to a protected page
[edit]Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here
Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.
- Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among
{{Edit protected}}
,{{Edit template-protected}}
,{{Edit extended-protected}}
, or{{Edit semi-protected}}
to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed. - Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the
{{Edit COI}}
template should be used. - Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
- If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
- This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

Autopatrolled
[edit]- Losipov (t · th · c · del · cross-wiki · SUL · edit counter · pages created (xtools · sigma) · non-automated edits · BLP edits · undos · manual reverts · rollbacks · logs (blocks · rights · moves) · rfar · spi · cci)
For a third time, I'm applying for autopatrolled rights; my first request was denied in April 2023, and my second request was denied in June 2024. The reason for the first decline was that my previous articles were tagged for "notability." After that decline, I worked on bringing articles over from the Russian Wikipedia and had relatively few problems when other editors were reviewing them (I don't bring over everything from those respective pages, so I added a tag for expanding from Russian to let others know that information is still there). The reason for the second decline was that I moved one of my BLP articles back into the mainspace without changing the sourcing, and it was eventually deleted (that was a mistake on my part). Now, roughly two months later, I have had little to no problems with the other articles I have brought over. I respectfully request that I be granted the autopatrolled permission this time around, as I believe it will help lighten the NPP workload to some extent. Thanks in advance for your consideration. Would like to cut down on the backlog of pages that need to be reviewed while I create pages, especially as of recent where I've been working on creating pages for military battles, and Bahmani rulers. I definitely believe the pages I've created shows I am familiar with the guidelines of page notability, and especially quality. I've practiced with this being a new page patroller myself. I am aware that my edit count is low for this permission. I feel that I have enough experience with article title discussions, redirect discussions, and deletion discussions to know what is likely to be controversial. I have the temperament to not abuse power.
I plan to step up my involvement in improving Wikipedia in general, possibly via crowdfunding. I am prepared to take a shot at formally concluding move discussions, and just as importantly, prepared to recuse myself if necessary. I understand that closing requires many of the same skills I discovered in myself during the 2024 CrowdStrike article naming saga.
I would like to hit fewer technical snags when moving pages. But I do not want full admin powers. So, asking for page mover permission seems like the correct step at this time. Jruderman (talk) 06:46, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

- From my talk page, reposted without comment:
* Pppery * it has begun... 14:44, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Anyway: I noticed Jruderman requested page mover ability. I'd strongly encourage whoever reviews his request to assess his recent history, particularly in the 2024 CrowdStrike incident page, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/TESCREAL (2nd nomination), and also to see his talk page. He is very clearly unfamiliar with the processes of Wikipedia. After no consensus was achieved for the CrowdStrike move, he wanted to unilaterally move the page and multiple people had to explain why that isn't appropriate. I think he is wholly unfamiliar with how consensus is achieved, when pages should he moved, and, to be honest, how Wikipedia "works" in general. I hope his request is investigated thoroughly, particularly the pages I mentioned/linked and the talk page advice others have tried to give him. He needs assistance or ADOPTion, but I'm worried giving him page moving ability is far too early. Thanks. 91.223.100.49 (talk) 12:43, 12 August 2024 (UTC)
- On a related note, following the closure of a previous move request by this editor there was a suggestion that a page be unilaterally moved over objections instead. I would close this as "not done" due to not meeting the minimum requirements and not having much experience with moves, but I have also reverted or altered a few of this editor's moves recently. To Jruderman, I would suggest not seeing this permission as a "power" whether open to abuse or not. It should not be difficult to receive this permission without the need for self-promotion if and when evidence of experience and effectiveness is clear. Dekimasuよ! 15:22, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

I'm an active AfC reviewer, and I spend a lot of time patrolling new pages. I often draftify articles that are not sourced or need additional sources (over 250 articles so far). Having this right would be super useful and help reduce the number of R2 tags for admins in the backlog. I also have experience in WP:RM, and I'd like to request page mover rights for non-controversial tasks. Thank you, Waqar💬 16:39, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

I just reached 500 wikipedia edits, and almost all of them have been patrolling recent changes. - Not done I noticed you started actively reverting vandalism a few days ago. While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I'd like to see you spend more time gaining experience fighting vandalism before assigning you advanced permissions. Keep up the good work, and consider reapplying in a month. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits (I recommend using tools such as Twinkle or Ultraviolet which makes this extremely easy). I have been active patrolling recent changes and combating vandalism with Twinkle. I meticulously leave a note of caution on the talk page of users I revert their edits. Having advanced tool will facilitate the work. Piscili (talk) 12:56, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

I have been patrolling recent changes and combating vandalism for a little over a month. I've been primarily using Twinkle and I would like to request rollback privileges to use other tools such as Huggle. I understand the importance of leaving users a notice whenever their edits are reverted. Jiffles1 (talk) 22:30, 13 August 2024 (UTC)
