Managing a conflict of interest

Information icon Hello, Anasuya.D. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Bilby (talk) 14:27, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

I understand that it seems that I had been paid for the edits but the fact is that a friend who works there had asked me to make a Wikipedia page for the company. I had known the company to be reputable and credible. A brief look up of the sources made it look notable to me and I had been trying to adhere to neutral point of view as well as proper process. Prior to forming the article I had no idea that the company had already formed spammy articles which got deleted. I have left a note at here. I would try to remain cautious so that such unintended confusions do not occur in the future. Anasuya.D (talk) 17:24, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Ameri Holdings requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. DGG ( talk ) 20:08, 28 January 2017 (UTC)

Good answer. It might cover you in the future to ask an admin or trusted non-admin for an independent assessment of an article to which you might appear to have, or actually have, a close relationship. Thanks for your work. Tony (talk) 08:13, 13 June 2017 (UTC)

Nomination of Ameri Holdings for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Ameri Holdings is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ameri Holdings until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. DGG ( talk ) 05:51, 29 January 2017 (UTC)

The article Bhakti Yadav has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Bhakti Yadav, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Nitara Lee Osbourne

Hello Anasuya.D,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Nitara Lee Osbourne for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.

Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:07, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

I had added the reference Nitara Lee Osbourne at IMDb and was hoping to edit it further but as I see Kudpung กุดผึ้ง you have marked it for speedy deletion. I am not quite experienced and might have missed something but does this not count as a reliable source? Anasuya.D (talk) 19:06, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

A tag has been placed on Kathleen Benner requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

I had added the reference Kathleen Benner at IMDb and was hoping to edit it further but as I see Gbawden you have marked it for speedy deletion and the deletion has already been completed. I am not quite experienced and might have missed something but does this not count as a reliable source? Anasuya.D (talk) 19:08, 14 June 2017 (UTC)
IMDB is not a reliable source. Biographies of living people need multiple, in-depth, 3rd party sources that are independent of each other (i.e. not just reporting the same interview, event, etc.). Sites such as YouTube and any social media are not permitted at all. To learn more , please see WP:BLP, WP:CITE, and WP:RS. I know it's a lot to read but that's the downside of being 'the encyclopedia anyone can edit'. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 21:22, 14 June 2017 (UTC)

The article Running on Empty Dreams has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

apparently non-notable film. Article is uncited.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Biographies of filmmakers

Hello! Just a reminder that {{WikiProject Film}} does not cover biography articles, such as actors and filmmakers. This applies to all of the film task forces as well, which means that the Indian cinema task force does not include articles about Indian actors, directors and filmmakers, and consequently should not have the |cinema=yes parameter on the {{WikiProject India}} banner.
