Pending changes setting on articles[edit]

Hello, Anthony. I see that you set "Pending changes" on North Sydney Boys High School. However, if you look at the page for setting protection, near the top of the page you will see a pink box that says "Pending changes protection should not be enabled on any pages except Wikipedia-namespace pages that are exclusively used for testing", and, at the top of the box for actually setting Pending changes, you will see that it says "do not use on articles per RFC result". I have, therefore, removed the pending changes setting from the article. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:01, 16 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

T-10 tank[edit]

It seems you have inadvertently blanked the article and page history while moving T-10 Heavy Tank to T-10 tank (both are now identical redirects). Muad (talk) 02:38, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I confirm, I requested the move, but my intent was to have the article text saved under T-10 tank. Instead it appears the result (see history) was to have the short redirect text under both T-10 Heavy Tank and T-10 tank and the article text became completely lost. Please restore the text. --Kubanczyk (talk) 12:08, 27 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The deletion was clearly unintentional so I have restored it after seeing a post at Wikipedia:Teahouse/Questions#Article and history blanked. Maybe you clicked "Delete and move" more than once because the move didn't seem to go through. That can be dangerous if you don't check the result afterwards. New medical organization[edit]

Hi

I'm contacting you because, as a participant at Wikiproject Medicine, you may be interested in a new multinational non-profit organization we're forming at m:Wikimedia Medicine. Even if you don't want to be actively involved, any ideas you may have about our structure and aims would be very welcome on the project's talk page.

Our purpose is to help improve the range and quality of free online medical content, and we'll be working with like-minded organizations, such as the World Health Organization, professional and scholarly societies, medical schools, governments and NGOs - including Translators Without Borders.

Hope to see you there! --Anthonyhcole (talk) 21:16, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominaterd (or co-nominated) very few editors for the tools; if age is not dimming my recollection there have been five including your good self. All have been accepted, and all have fulfilled my expectations. I am quite certain, as I have said to you more than once, that you will fill the position admirably. I did it for you, but to be fair predominantly for the good of the encyclopedia which will be enhanced by your elevation to the clean-up crew. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 17:58, 24 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
This is the first "project" that Anthony and I have crossed paths on, and I can't think of a better one to start with. I think it is healthy when the two nominators and the candidate aren't part of a single group, and represent a larger section of the community. Basalisk was my third nom, all successful. Monty, who is there now, is my fourth. Personally, I feel very good about the 2012 "crop" of admin, even if I'm one of them. I think we are very fortunate to have a great amount of diversity in the admin selection this year. And Anthony, by all means, you are welcome to comment on any future candidates that I review or ask my input on any you have in mind. I have a back log right now, having been on vacation, but I hope to start working on that this coming week. Dennis Brown - © Join WER 03:13, 25 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Problem with Galexia deletion due to 2008 discussion. Galexia in 2012 is now a contribution to pop-culture from radio to album chartings'[edit]

Hello Dr. Bradbury, As a large fan of Galexia I created the band's wikipedia article - Prior to its deletion I had many sources such as interviews, photos of amazon.com chart positions, 2009's Album of The Year award presented by "Audio Oddyssey United Kingdom". I believe the page should be considered for restoration and allow myself, other music fans familiar with Galexia and the general Wikipedia moderator base to reference the citations as many articles, photos, videos and press content can be found via Google search. - The next Galexia album still has a page and I believe my Band page was well written in comparison, but needed the rest of the biography, citations, and information that I was slowly gathering to create an A+ article about one of the (in my, and many listeners opinion) most innovative band's to come out of obscurity and become signed to a major label with experimental music, and making it a success. I would appreciate a response back when you have time, as I'd like to add further information along with photos and interviews. - The page was initially deleted from what I can see as being "non-notable persons" back in the 2006-2008 era, I was not even a fan yet back then so I can agree with the deletion back then as Galexia was releasing the debut album. Now Galexia is releasing a third and final album under Atlantic Records after selling a combined Gold amount of the first two albums combined, Now In Technicolor! (The albums name, with the single "Hey Hey, Takei!") is expected by analysts to sell 150 thousand units in the end of Q4 2012 and first half of Q1 2013. Perhaps we can discuss the future of Galexia on WikipediA? - Galexia is mentioned if other pages with prominent stability and interesting information. I'd like to aid in sharing the band's full biography and information for the world. Thank you for the time, and I apologize for the long user talk my ADHD gets the best of me :).

I confess that in fact I removed the declined unblock request, by mistake, in the course of declining another unblock request, as you can see here. I awoke to my surprise to find that this article had been either A7'ed or G4'ed, it looks like both...I wrote it yesterday. It contains a sufficient number of third party references to demonstrate the band's notability, making it ineligible for an A7, and it is substantially different (I presume) than the previously deleted version, which would lift it out of G4 territory. Could you please take a second look? Thanks. Chubbles (talk) 20:33, 6 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Page on Cacique Cheese[edit]

Hello, I noticed that you've marked a page for Cacique Cheese company for speedy deletion. I'd like to make clear that I have no affiliation with this company and the page contained a simple history of the company and a link to the company's webpage, which is certainly in similarity with like-pages currently existing on wikipedia for many other similar companies in the same consumer product sector (manufacturers of cheese products). There was absolutely no "advertising" or spam on the page, and as an administrator of another wiki site (WeRelate.org), I am certainly aware of what comprises blatent advertising and spam.

I'd appreciate it if you could reverse the speedy deletion at your earliest convenience.

Thank you.

I found a mention of him in Special:DoubleRedirects, and when investigating, saw your name in the log. We must have had a real article at one time: see answers.com. Why did you delete Masshole? G4 is for "A sufficiently identical and unimproved copy, having any title, of a page deleted via its most recent deletion discussion. This excludes pages that are not substantially identical to the deleted version" That was an article the word "Masshole" that was originally deleted, this was just a disambag pointing readers to Massachusetts#Demographics (which discribes the people of Massachusetts) and Reckless driving, I didn't recreate the deleted article. Thanks![edit]

Thanks for deleting the duplicate article on the 9th Airborne Division. I was the person who created that article and was rather annoyed to see it duplicated for no good reason. Looking over the contributions for Vintagemilitary01 I'm getting the feeling they were just 'cutting & pasting' to create their articles. In the article you deleted Vintagemilitary01 had simply copied the text from 9th Airborne Division (United States), added one small line and removed all the references, I'm wondering if this is the case with the other articles. The user seems to have disappeared since the 26th of December 2012.Graham1973 (talk) 01:13, 13 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect[edit]

Hi, I noticed that Michael Corey was redirected to Mike Corey. This happened on a previous page, yet I was able to look at the version history and get the refs I had placed. This happened with Rhonald Jhun>Ronald Jhun. I was wondering how I go about finding the text that used to be at Michael Corey. It would be a pain to have to hunt down those refs and then addd the citations. PortlandOregon97217 (talk) 20:38, 14 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony, please move the associated talk page as well. There were discussions that the airport name has not changed. Contest of the deletion of the Lee Westwick page[edit]

I would like to contest the Speedy Deletion of the page : Lee Westwick I would like to note that the request for deletion was made by a user that does not have any knowledge about the subject, also this was requested in a bias and malicious way. The user that requested the deletion of the page stated the following : "Subject is not notable in any way, obviously written by subject and treats it like his personal blog" I would like to state that I do completely understand that Wikipedia is totally separate to Twitter but there is clear evidence here that the user that requested the speedy deletion is bias and clearly requested the speedy deletion maliciously ( https://twitter.com/aleczandah ) My opinion is Wikipedia should be a place to correct errors or false information, however if this is done by someone out of spite or is not knowledgeable on the subject it should be looked into. I am knowledgeable on the subject and will provide references to prove the subjects notability and significance. The subject "Lee Westwick" was a cast member of the TV program The Bill - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_The_Bill_cast_members The above is also backed up like other cast members of the same TV Program with the following reference : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4253417/ Also the subjects other working roles can be viewed here : http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4253417/resume (some of which are not notable however the ones that were not notable in anyway I see where not mentioned within the page about the subject. The subject also has a significance in the industry for using his notability to raise money for charity with reference of some of the subjects charitable work are referenced here http://www.bigissueinthenorth.com/2012/02/ebay-for-the-trust/4834 http://www.bigissueinthenorth.com/2012/02/ebay-for-the-trust/4834/lee-westwick-mobo-awards-9 The Subjects attendance of The 65th Cannes film festival is backed up with photographic evidence from links below, however I feel a reference needs to be added from an article or news source. Although it can be seen this information is correct. http://coolspotters.com/actors/lee-westwick/and/award-shows/the-cannes-film-festival#medium-2393334 further references about the subject can be at the following links, however I think the main sources and most notable are above. http://www.zimbio.com/Lee+Westwick - http://coolspotters.com/actors/lee-westwick/wallpapers - https://www.youtube.com/user/breakupsdrama The statement that the user made stating the subject used Wikipedia as a personal blog, I completely disagree, I believe if this was the true case then all the non notable things would also of been added, for example the subjects mini drama series or more etc. Using the following pages to express the notability of Lee Westwick, The subject would have the same notability as a majority of his fellow cast members who also have pages on Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roberta_Taylor - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minna_Aaltonen - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bryan_Marshall However I am of the opinion that the page of Lee Westwick should not have been deleted. I can see how the conclusion for Speedy Deletion was met on a little merit, being more references of the subject were needed on this page. I request the page to be Un-deleted also all of the above notable references to back up the information and show the subjects notability and significance should be added to the page. ← Kirsty Hurst — Preceding unsigned comment added by KirstyHurst (talkcontribs) 13:41, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Neither the nominating editor nor the deleting admin (me) are required to have ay knowledge of the subject. The decision to nominate and the decision to delete are made solely on the basis of the content of the article. If you feel that the deletion is not reasonable please go to deletion review page. Until, or if, the community give a view I stand by my decision.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:18, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can not see how someone with no knowledge on a subject can state that the subject is not notable in anyway when there is evidence also reference as proof that the subject is notable and significant. I also feel this borders on opinions and not the facts being that of the subject is notable and significant. If the article is re-written with References, and clearly shows the subjects notability and significance is that allowed? or does it have to be through the deletion review page? — Preceding unsigned comment added by KirstyHurst (talkcontribs)
(talk page stalker) The editors of an article are required to show notability using valid reliable sources (hint: imdb is NOT one of them). Any reader in the world should be able to see the supposed notability, and the proof. If the supposed sources do not show proof, then the article gets deleted - period. Especially if it's about a living person. If you believe the deletion to be in error by process, go to WP:DRV, but having viewed the "article", I have to agree with deletion. See WP:DELETE and WP:FIRSTARTICLE before proceeding and good luck (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:14, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for a swift response, However can you explain how IMDB is not a valid source? when every single actor on wikipedia uses this for that reason. Would I be wrong in saying that if this is the case the every single Wikipedia page of these people need to be deleted aswell? ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List of The Bill cast members ) The subject in question has more notability than most of the other cast members. ( KirstyHurst (talk) 17:23, 23 January 2013 (UTC) )]] If I may just add an example ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minna Aaltonen ) this cast member of the same TV Program as the subject in question only has IMDB as a reference. Please correct me if I am wrong ( KirstyHurst (talk) 17:26, 23 January 2013 (UTC) )]][reply]

Please read WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS ... in short, just because one bad article exists (possibly only temporarily) it does not mean that another one can exist (✉→BWilkins←✎) 17:57, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I think in this instance "x was kept so this should be too" is a valid reason for the page to be un-deleted. On its own merit Lee Westwick is a notable and significant celebrity and I have provided references and evidence to this effect. ( KirstyHurst (talk) 18:54, 23 January 2013 (UTC) )[reply]
(talk page stalker)You're not reading the link, Kitty. "Other crap exists" is explicitly listed as an invalid argument for retention of an article, not a valid one. At best, pointing out other crap that exists may provide useful guidance to winnow out other inappropriate articles which may be deleted. --Orange Mike | Talk 20:16, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me, friends. Is there really a valid reason for having this discussion on my talk page? Kirsty, the wikipedia policies are as they are, including those on notability and on acceptability of sources. You may not agree; this does not affect our policy. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:27, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Just as a by-the-way, Minna Aaltonen was created in 2006, before the current living person biography policy was in force. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:33, 23 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

[[Category:Apologies Anthony I will continue this via the Un-Deletion notice board. I understand what you are all saying. But do not understand why the page on Lee Westwick has been deleted for not being a notable or significant subject when Lee Westwick is notable and a significant subject. As per Anthonys request can we not continue this here but on the un-Deletion notice board ( KirstyHurst (talk) 21:13, 23 January 2013 (UTC) )]][reply]

Contested deletion[edit]

Thank you for marking Aqueduct (bridge) for speedy deletion, as it provides a good opportunity for discussing the merits of this new article. It was an attempt to resolve issues with the article Aqueduct. The term aqueduct refers to both a watercourse and a bridge for conveying a watercourse across a void. I was involved in the successful process in sorting out the various duplicated articles with little difference other than name which culminated in the article Controlled-access highway to combine Freeway, Motorway and many other articles. I have I think successfully userfied the draft article, and another one, Aqueduct (watercourse). I hope these draft articles will not also be marked for speedy deletion. The issues surrounding Aqueduct are under discussion here: Talk:Aqueduct#Merger_proposal. Draft articles are here:

User talk:Bangarradancetheatre[edit]

Um... you may want to reconsider your decline of that unblock request. You may notice that on that same talk page, I declined an unblock request suggesting that the editor propose a name exactly that way.

We have ample precedent for this. See for example Mark at Alcoa (talk · contribs), particularly his talk page, in which admins and a bureaucrat agreed that it is acceptable to associate a username with a company as long as the username clearly belongs to one person and isn't a role account. This doesn't violate Wikipedia:Username policy. ~Amatulić (talk) 21:49, 24 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I guess that this may be a matter of interpretation, and I would have no difficulty in reversing myself if in your opinion to do so would be approriate. I am, of course, aware of the policy you state, but it seemed to me that this was a self-avowed role account, as shown by the editor's statemenr "The new account Bangarradancetheatre has been created by current Bangarra communications staff to update and maintain the information on the Bangarra Dance Theatre Wikipedia page". The new request, being one person's name, is obviously wholly non-controversial. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:08, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A personal name with the company appended, as in the Mark at Alcoa example, should also be noncontroversial. Personally I prefer usernames that are clearly personal yet openly disclose a conflict of interest at the same time, rather than usernames masquerading as independent individuals when they actually have a conflict of interest. Both types of usernames are compliant with the username policy, but only one has transparency. I believe such transparency benefits Wikipedia.
In any case the user has re-requested unblocking for changing the name to just a personal name, so there's no issue anymore, and no need to reverse yourself. ~Amatulić (talk) 19:11, 25 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Recently deleted page[edit]

Hi! Greetings! The page EPZ thana was deleted by you as a patroller tagged it for a speedy deletion. If possible, I'm requesting you to revert the deletion. Thanks --Zayeem (talk) 14:24, 26 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

3RR[edit]

It's pretty hard not to break the rule when editors working in concert are deleting one's edit in quick succession. These "various" editors seem to be either in communication with one another or might even be one person using multiple IP addresses. Interesting how they will tolerate no mention of the AR-15's use in mass shootings to be part of the "history" section of the article. Why don't you expend some of your energy looking into that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trblmkr1 (talkcontribs) 14:45, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is getting ridiculous. The editor's first article edit after coming off of an edit warring block was to reintroduce the material. While my major concern was copyvio, other editors made it clear that they had an issue with the inclusion of the material. Ryan Vesey 15:24, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, Ryan, but I changed the material from a quote to my own words and took out anything that could be construed as opinion. As to my deletion of all the non-Colt makers of AR-15 clones is because the heading "Manufacturers of the AR-15" is factually incorrect. This has absolutely nothing to do with with my factual edit of the History section. It merely illustrates that your precision about editing only extends so far as to keep negative info about the AR-15 out of the page altogether. Trblmkr1 (talk) 16:13, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I left your material about Sandy Hook in (although another editor removed it because it wasn't technically an AR-15). All I did was address the contribution, you can either say only Colt creates AR-15's so the gun used in the shooting was not an AR-15 or you can say that all the variants of the AR-15 can be referred to as an AR-15 so the various manufacturers can be said to produce AR-15s. In regards to the comment in question, the talk page is literally filled with discussion on the issue, I suggest you take part. Ryan Vesey 16:18, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I like your idea on the manufacturers heading, I modified it slightly, but you can undo it if you still feel your section heading was better. Sorry Anthony for the discussion carrying over to your talk page, it can certainly be moved Ryan Vesey 16:21, 30 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]
No, I have no problem about being on this page; it was only that I was not actually involved in the controversy. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 10:58, 31 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Need you to undo an improper page delete.[edit]

Hello, You have accidentally identified my article on the popular phrase "What Difference Does it Make?" because you thought it was a personal attack page. I can assure you it is not. It is attempting to explain the pop phenomenon of the phrase and it's link to Hilary Clinton. Unless you can explain why repeating U.S. Senate Hearing testimony about a person is a personal attack, then please undo your page delete. Paululrich (talk) 22:24, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Anthony,

to answer your question "Why did you chose this particular piece of her testimony to highlight?" - The answer is that I did not choose that particular piece of testimony to highlight. It was not my choice - it was the media's choice. Its not like I'm picking and choosing Senate testimony phrases of people and putting them on wikipedia. The reason I chose this needed a wikipedia page is, as I reference in my article with 4 separate references (I could have done hundreds) this is a popular phenomenon - this misquote - and it deserves an explanation as to why it shows up in so many political cartoons and articles and commentaries and TV shows and etc.. etc. etc...... MY article explains where the phrase, a misquote, comes from. But if you don't feel that its appropriate on Wikipedia for another reason, then leave it deleted. Just let me know why. Paululrich (talk) 22:54, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Paul Ulrich[edit]

I noticed that you had some involvement with him over a removed attack page. By accident "What Difference Does It Make? (quote)"? He announced that he wanted to recreate that article, now a similar article "What Difference Does It Make? (phrase)" is removed as attack page. I think he works with a sockpuppet or meatpuppet!

Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Mdandrea. The Banner talk 22:56, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Who had involvement with Paul Ulrich? I'm not sure what you are getting at, but I can assure you I'm not working with anyone else. I'm trying to keep and article I spent a lot of time on from getting deleted. I spent over two hours on that article and I think its relevant information about a popular catch phrase. Is that so wrong? Paululrich (talk) 23:02, 14 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flag, coat of arms of New York[edit]

It seems you recently moved Flag of New York to Coat of arms of New York, apparently per some discussion on a WikiProject page. However, the discussion (and the associated changes) was mostly unilateral and post-facto. I ask that you please move Coat of arms of New York back to Flag of New York. Thanks. Gordon P. Hemsley 05:52, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

There is a functioning redirect from Flag of New York to Coat of arms of New York, and the article is headed by a graphic of the coat of arms, not of a flag.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 10:43, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User Binksternet misreports vandalism[edit]

User Binksternet (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Binksternet) misreports vandalism for people who, based on citations and documents, try to modify his numerous, repetitive and negative texts inserted in the pages of most early aviation pioneers that compete in a way or another with Wright Brothers, whose fanatic and very undocumented supporter is. I explained in the last comment from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Traian_Vuia why I want to make the changes in the page and I was suspended as vandal. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.203.73.246 (talk) 09:43, 23 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Linkspammer has ignored your warning[edit]

Hi, Anthony. I just wanted to alert you that persistent linkspammer TMafia, to whom you gave a final notice about linkspamming [User talk:TMafia#Persistent linkspamming here] on Dec. 12, has continued to do so starting on Dec. 16] and most recently, as I only just noticed, today again here. I thought you'd want to know. With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 17:42, 25 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dewy60[edit]

Hi, I notice you've added a final warning to Dewy60 after my request today. He's just edited The Prince of Egypt article again; although his edit wasn't clear-cut vandalism, it was repeating information already prominent in the article. What would you suggest was done from here? He doesn't seem to take well to advice (see his talk), but I don't know whether his latest edit warrants blocking. What do you think? drewmunn talk 18:40, 26 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • Sorry, me again! He's at it again; not quite helpful, not quite vandalism. I seriously think he doesn't understand the rules of the road. This time, it's Scary Movie. He's added a section about 'spin off' films that are simply films of the same genre. I haven't done anything to rectify this as of yet, because I don't want to get in the way of procedure (you've given him a final warning, I don't want to undermine that threat). drewmunn talk 16:01, 27 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello![edit]

Hi Tony! I've been clearing my WP email inbox (~120,000 - stuff sure piles up in 4 years! Mostly mailing lists, luckily) and found some emails from you enquiring about my absence. Sorry I hadn't responded - I basically need a complete break to start out with, and then other things filled the void and I slowly had no time for Wikipedia anymore. Anyway, I've been editing around a bit for the past week or so, requested my admin tools back and have even used them a few times. It's fun - things have changed considerably in the time I've been away, so I'm trying not to go too fast. I've rediscovered the joys of writing articles!

Anyway, it's lovely you were so concerned about my absence - I feel I owe you a response to let you know I'm absolutely fine, sound in body and mind and all the other relevant bits, and hope that you're very well too :) I'm sure we'll run into each other around the place, now that I'm more active. ~ Riana 03:55, 28 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

AIV[edit]

Thank you for your very rude and patronising reply. I do not believe that "everyone else seems to find this page as very straightforward". I'm sure the majority are as baffled as I was, or more so, and simply give up and go away, especially if their reward is hostility. The only users are those who have struggled through the fog. I don't particularly want to avoid using the page; what I want to do is report vandalism as simple as that. As it is, it seems there are layers of reporting I am supposed to struggle through. Much simpler to have a mechanism where a report is made, and automatically appropriate action is taken.

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of papabili in the 2013 papal conclave is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of papabili in the 2013 papal conclave until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. -- --JamboQueen (talk) 08:36, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WP:CANVASS In general, it is perfectly acceptable to notify other editors of ongoing discussions, provided that it is done with the intent to improve the quality of the discussion by broadening participation to more fully achieve consensus. - The general notice written on your talk page did not include any reference, tone or words that could be interpreted as trying to influence the outcome of a discussion towards one side of a debate. Thank you for your most kind attention. --JamboQueen (talk) 12:44, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
After desperately trying to get balanced discussion going I ended up voting for delete. Actually my first instinct was to vote for merge, which I did, and to get as many editors to join in and solve the problem related to the endless speculation and media humbug surrounding the subject. But I soon fund out this was impossible and changed the vote to delete. Though we landed in stalemate, I saw it as my duty to improve the article as much as possible, even when nothing fundamentally would change. So here I am now.--JamboQueen (talk) 19:11, 19 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Okhmedia (talk) 20:30, 30 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I saw you deleted this article claiming A7 though I don't see how A7 could apply considering the man was a general which relevant notability guideline - WP:MILNG - states is sufficient for notability iff there are sources - which of course there are. His passing has been reported by most news agencies of the world, (Washington Post)[4][5][6], and countless more. The impact of his death also increases his notability. You can read the EI article to read about his life, how Arafat had personally stepped in to gain his release from Israeli capture. I hope you will restore the article so that I can better prove the notability. Thanks, Furious Style (talk) 14:32, 3 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your message to SuperMarioMan about CSD tagging a blatantly promo sandbox. Wikipedia:CSD#G11 directs to Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not a soapbox, which states directly that "Wikipedia is not a soapbox, a battleground, or a vehicle for propaganda, advertising and showcasing. This applies to articles, categories, templates, talk page discussions, and user pages." A sandbox is an extension of a userpage, so why wouldn't blatant adds be speedy deleted under G11? What policy states that sandboxes are nearly exempt from speedy deletion as you told SMM? I see alot of these CSDed under G11 and G12 daily, so I'd like to get some clarity on handling these. The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!)[edit]

The Wikipedia Library gets Wikipedia editors free access to reliable sources that are behind paywalls. Because you are signed on as a medical editor, I thought you'd want to know about our most recent donation from Cochrane Collaboration.

  • Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization that conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.
  • Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account.
  • If you are still active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Brief request[edit]

Hi, Anthony Bradbury. I've contacted you because you claim to be a doctor in real life. I was just wondering if you could do anything to clarify the current article on Kiesselbach's plexus. It's so full of jargon that I can't seem to understand the first thing about it; the illustration shown doesn't even depict the area itself! I wanted to know more about it because I suffer from nosebleeds and a friend told me that this is a significant area in that regard. Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated. Over 300 Wikipedians claim to be physicians; surely one (or more) of them can help clean up this problem. Thanks! Dozzzzzzzzzing off (talk) 19:16, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Little's area[edit]

You're right in that a dictionary (or further Wikipedia reading) can help clear up some of those big words. However, I'd still feel better with a diagram that at the very least shows the arteries which converge to form the plexus, because I don't think the article as it stands now explains the location well enough to clarify it to someone who is not a medical professional. Bear in mind, too, that a parent of mine is a medical professional and I do possess a basic level of medical and anatomical knowledge; I just don't find this article to be terribly clearly-written. Hi, I saw that you accepted the speedy deletion tag on List of officers of the Oxford University Chess Club after the content was merged per an AFD discussion to Oxford University Chess Club. The GFDL/CC licences that the content was submitted under require that authorship be acknowledged if the content is used, usually this is in the form of the page history, and it is therefore usually inadvisable to delete it if the content has been merged and used elsewhere (Wikipedia:Merge and delete).

What I have done in this case is restore the page history and redirect it to the article where the content now is. This is the usual outcome for merges. (It is possible to be GFDL compliant in other ways, such as history merges, but these methods are a bit awkward and are exceptions rather than the rule.) Best wishes, Sjakkalle (Check!) 06:33, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Odd email from you[edit]

Hi Tony.

There was a recent post at AN about WP emails going into the spam folder on Gmail, which prompted me to check my own folder. There I found an email I received yesterday (Aug. 6, at 3:43 AM EDT) that appears to be from you, and I'm fairly certain it is indeed spam. (I won't go into the details on the off chance that it isn't, but it's definitely what spam usually looks like.)

Needless to say, this is a serious security concern. If you did actually send the email, please do explain that. Otherwise, though, I strongly recommend that you request a temporary desysop, until you can make sure that no one else has access to your passwords. I'll be posting on BN just so the 'crats are aware of this, but it would be great if you could follow up as soon as you see this. If you have any questions about the contents of the email, I'd be happy to answer them, and if you'd like me to forward it to a trusted third party (i.e., someone skilled with email stuff, who can look at the technical details of how it was sent), I can do that too. — PublicAmpers&(main accounttalkblock) 16:12, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah okay. That's what I imagined had happened, but I wasn't sure if you were aware of the hack yet. If you trust that no one else has access to your email, then I'll take your word for it. I only asked since usually you can change a Wikipedia account password through email, and compromised accounts aren't fun for anyone. Sorry for any annoyance. — PublicAmpers&(main accounttalkblock) 20:58, 7 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I think (based on a conversation that the fellow has now removed) that he's referring to TV editors. He's been threatening to blacklist some of us with the TV companies. I tried to explain that I at least didn't even watch TV let alone want to edit it, but he's fixed in his mind. He did remove the threat to 'sew' us, and the blacklisting thing, though. Can't make my mind up whether he's a troll or just fixated. Peridon (talk) 20:14, 23 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Anthony, why are you reverting the IP's removals of warnings? They can remove them if they wish. See also this report, even though the IP is not reporting you. Thanks.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:49, 27 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, you are probably right to query this. But I would ask you to consider this in the light of this IP's recent editing history: I was attempting to make this clear to any admin following up any further WP:AIV messages. I will concede I was perhaps over-zealous. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:06, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re: User:Garr1984[edit]

Hi, I should make my views known for the purpose of supporting the denial of User:Garr1984's block appeal, since you've got administrator privileges. Analyse the revision history of List of Rugrats characters at https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_Rugrats_characters&action=history, and you will see that the said user not only made vile edits to the entry for Drew Pickles, but also accused me of vandalism just for reverting his edits, which were obviously vandalism. I can conclude from that incident that his actions were clearly not in good faith, but the final decision is up to you. --Marianian(talk) 17:37, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Alabama and Mautitius[edit]

I don't think Alabama is Balchand. Either Balchand's copied Alabama's request (which looks a possibly reasonable explanation - possibly...), or the IP's a shit stirrer. I go for copy, based on the difference in the quality of English. When I read it at Balchand's page, I got quite a shock at how articulate it was - which is why I went to check other requests... He's copied stuff before without getting rid of inappropriate bits. Peridon (talk) 17:07, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK; the difficulty is that the phrasing of the appeal does relate to Alabama's edit on health insurance, but does not relate at all to Balchand's. And Balchand created his account before Alabama. Why and how would he go to a supposedly unrelated editor's talk page to find a unique phraseology for an unblock request - I phraseology which I have never seen here? Unless he/they can give a believable explanation I will stick with both edits being made by the same person. who, I can only speculate. I would not unblock either until the matter is clarified; clearly if another editor chooses to do so in the presence of my comments on the respective talk pages I will not fight about it. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:14, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I feel that Balchand is possibly a sort of fantasist like the Fils Tunechi character that's just been SPIed. If not, we may have a troll or long term vandal here. Alabama's fluency doesn't really ring true, and Balchand is almost non-existent Google-wise. I'm not happy about Mesilliac in the current batch either. Something not right there. I'm not planning to unblock any of them (I don't unblock many, which worries me a bit...). Something is rotten in the state of Denmark (or Alabama, or Mautritius..). Peridon (talk) 21:28, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Fantasist or troll, or simple vandal is beyond argument if you look at his (deleted) contributions. A gross example - he claims three decades of experience, and to have been born in 1994! They could both be members of a sockfarm, but I do not see enough evidence for WP:CU request. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:32, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
That experience could come from his copying of the page of another photographer Richard Young (photographer) who has been around long enough, and has photographed the people referred to in the article (I didn't spot this - I think it was Kunu). This is why I think he probably copied Alabama without going to the trouble of changing the better worded request to fit the actual need. Alabama's the first in the list. And, as it was an IP that posted it, we can't be certain until he appears again if it was him anyway. Wait and see. Peridon (talk) 21:44, 5 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Inaccuracy on your profile[edit]

I hate to bring this to your attention, because you seem like a well-mannered Wikipedian for the most part. However, that userbox you have that says you've made more than 40,000 edits links to an edit counter that says you've made less than half that many. I don't know if you were unaware of this, or if you're counting edits made from a previous account, perhaps? I'm not trying to make any accusations, just bringing this to your attention. The appropriate page is located at http://tools.wmflabs.org/xtools/pcount/index.php?name=Anthony+Bradbury&wiki=wikipedia&lang=en. You may do as you wish with this knowledge. User page protection[edit]

I assume the reason for protection of your user and talk pages - "wikibreak" - no longer applies; please remove the protection. Peter James (talk) 15:22, 7 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Peter, it is not clear to me why you feel that I should modify the protection levels of my pages; you might care to explain your reasoning? FYI, my talk page is open to every autoconfirmed user; my userpage is admin-only, which is wholly reasonable as no other editor should need to edit there, and vandals, if allowed, have a habit of attacking the userpages of the more active vandal-fighting admins - which I happen to be. So no, I will not change the protection levels. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:14, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Maybe there has been vandalism in the past, but the page shouldn't be permanently protected, particularly as new users may want to discuss pages you have deleted. User request, as mentioned in your current protection message, is specifically not sufficient according to the protection policy and related RFC; there's currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/IncidentArchive818#Protected admin talk pages. I also mentioned your user page because occasionally comments should be made there. Peter James (talk) 19:59, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See comment on your talk page, and please distinguish in your mind user pages from user talk pages. Any discussion can take place on my talk page, NOT my user page. Please learn the difference. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:43, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
New users are not able to edit your talk page; it's semi-protected with the summary "User request within own user space where appropriate: wikibreak", which links to the "User pages" section of the protection policy. There's a separate "User talk pages" section earlier in the page, with the words "A user's request to have his or her own talk page protected is not a sufficient rationale to protect the page." The use of "wikibreak" is also misleading. Peter James (talk) 20:54, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Autoconfirmed users can edit my talk page, and I am not using a "wikibreak" template. I use it when I am away from the computer, it has not been operative since last June. Check your settings. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 20:59, 8 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Deviation from policy[edit]

Mr. Bradbury; I've courtesy blanked the talk page at User talk:Church of India per the request of the editor. At least I think that's what he wanted; there's a lot of prose involved in his unblock request. This technically "removes" the unblock request you declined, but I think that's okay if it closes things out. If he posts again, and certainly if he posts another unblock request, then I will restore the entire page. If you're uncomfortable with this, let me know, and I can revert everything and just decline the request. Kuru (talk) 15:49, 17 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

User:67.220.154.178[edit]

Hi. Can I ask why you deleted this user page? The IP is clearly a school address, used by many people, so it's impossible to tell if a "single author" contributed to it. Also, the request to delete it came almost immediately after I had posted a warning on the talk page reminding the users of the IP that blocked editors cannot use IPs to edit while they are blocked. I did this because the IP has been used in the past by an editor who is currently temporarily blocked, who had his blocked extended because of massive block evasion using alternate accounts, and who took steps to hid the relationship between those alternate account and him master account, including having his user page (which included a statement of the connection between the accounts) deleted. This current situation seems very similiar and raises the possibility that the editor was evading his block, and asked for the user page to be deleted in order to hide something.

Would you consider undeleting the page, or, at the very least, taking a look at it to see if it shows any connection between the IP and the users Epicgenius (master), Epicfailure 2 or EP_alt (alternates)? Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:20, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The thread is here. Beyond My Ken (talk) 22:37, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I have no problem in restoring the page; I am not certain which version you want restored. You yourself blanked the page twice, and the version I deleted contained nothing except a CSD tag.--Anthony Bradbury"talk" 12:21, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I guess I'm be interested in knowing about the version of the page that had any text in it before the CSD tag was placed, if it showed any relationship to the editors in question. Thanks. Beyond My Ken (talk) 19:35, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
The only page with text in was blanked by yourself. To remind you, it was [11] this. Clearly qualifying as a CSD page, and I am not clear as to what is causing you concern. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 11:19, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I can't see that, because I'm not an admin. My concern is that an editor who is blocked took steps to hide the relationship between his account and his alternate accounts, then used the alternate accounts for block evasion. That editor has also used the IP in question, and the IP's user page was deleted, just as the user page of one of the alternate accounts was deleted. I'm trying to determine is the editor also deleted the IPs user page in an attempt to "cover his tracks". In any case, the IP is a school IP used by multiple people, and therefore the user page should never have been deleted in the first place, as there is not "only author" when the IP is open to multiple users. My suggestion is that you simple undeleted the user page and its history entirely, as the deletion appears to be put of process. Beyond My Ken (talk) 14:38, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I may be wrong here; if so, I am happy to admit it. Are we talking about the same editor, or the same page? The userpage I deleted had only five edits on it; three were from you, one was a clear vandalism from the IP and one was a CSD tag. I have not looked at, let alone considered, any of the other edits from this IP; nor was I asked to. You will note that I did not, and have not, blocked the IP. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 21:38, 23 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

About deleted article Adarsh Shastri[edit]

Hi Anthony,
This is what I was writing on the deleted article's talk page before it was deleted:

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... quite possibly notable as a senior employee of Apple Inc.'s operations in India before entry into politics. Recent media coverage would appear to indicate plausible notability under WP:GNG. This article would seem to me not a WP:CSD candidate but one that should be discussed at WP:AfD. --~~~~

I myself would have !voted to delete at AfD - WP:NOTNEWS, WP:BLP1E, WP:NOTINHERITED and so on - but I would be happy to work with anyone who would ask for deletion review.

NEBULA[edit]

Hi. I noticed that you just deleted the Nepali Bhutia Lepcha article, which had been tagged as 'vandalism' by a user with 2 edits in Wikipedia. As the creator of the article, I was never consulted, however I noticed the edit in my watchlist, and quickly added three references from Indian mainstream media (including one ref that indicated that a former state chief minister had been associated with the party). I'm not saying that there wouldn't be notability issues, but clearly this was not a proper candidate for speedy deletion. Please reinstall the page, and the deletion nominator might be asked to use prod or afd rather than speedy. --Soman (talk) 17:41, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you undelete the page the references will appear. In any case, and I hope you can agree, this was never a case of vandalism. --Soman (talk) 17:51, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I added yet another reference to the page, which is more clear. However, the talk page needs to be undeleted as well (that's where I contested the deletion in the first place...). --Soman (talk) 18:31, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Behavior?[edit]

Okay just so you know the whole story, I decided to make a page for a middle school. Why cant I make one? Cause it's not important? Please read my talk page for more explanation.

I don't believe it is logical to blank a page another user put effort into creating because they do not feel it is important or "removing a redirect link" or because of a previous deletion discussion. I don't know if that's a rule but it doesn't make any sense to me.
