I apologize for the late reply. I'm currently putting all of my focus on college, so I may not reply as readily as I would like. In any event, I would be glad to take a glimpse at the article. Since it is so long, the review may take a little while to complete. I'll set the review up in stages. I will start the review no later than Saturday. Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Andrea Pietra. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:12, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

The article Andrea Pietra has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Bgwhite (talk) 00:28, 30 October 2012 (UTC)

Thank you.

A tag has been placed on 2012 cacerolazo in Argentina, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising that only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become an acceptable page. Please read the general criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item G11, as well as the guidelines on spam.

If you can indicate why the subject of this page is not blatant advertising, . Clicking that button will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. You are welcome to edit the page to fix this problem, but please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. As well as removing promotional phrasing, it helps to add factual encyclopaedic information to the page, and add citations from independent reliable sources to ensure that the page will be verifiable. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Mapep (talk) 00:25, 2 November 2012 (UTC)

Cambalachero (talk) 03:45, 14 November 2012 (UTC)

Cisplatine War

The Peruvian poster is trying to give a unilateral and biased view of the conflict : throughout the conflict Montevideo and Colonia remained under Brazilian control; Brazil wiped out the United Provinces Navy. And the blockade was quite effective, in front of Buenos Aires. If the Brazilian performance had been so bad, Uruguay would have become part of the United Provinces, which it did not.

Given that the outcome was a draw, the portrayal of the conflict you wanted to give is biased, unless you post other opinions (and there are many) contrary to that of Stowell. It is he who should justify that comment he wants so much to post.

Here is what Sir Richard Gordon said to Lord Ponsonby at that time: "Los recursos de este Imperio parecen inmnensos y creyendo como yo que Brown -grande como es- no puede con sus goletas aniquilar a la armada brasileña, simplemente tendrá Ud. al bloqueo restablecido con mayor vigor".187.36.81.70 (talk) 02:19, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

  • I can post other opinions, the thing is he chose a biased opinion and he is giving a biased view of the conflict. If it were entirely true, Uruguay would have become part of Argentina, which it did not.187.36.81.70 (talk) 02:30, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I can post other opinions as I said. The facts of the conflict speak for themselves anyway. Had it been a military victory, Argentina would have annexed Uruguay, which it did not. And it did not because it was suffering the economic consequences of the naval blockade Brazil imposed on Buenos Aires, its main place of interaction with the outside world, and Argentina at that time was heavily dependent on both exporting and importing goods. Brazil did manage to destroy the functionality of the United Provinces Navy, a fact which that opinion he posted is clearly omitting.187.36.81.70 (talk) 02:43, 23 November 2012 (UTC)
  • I did not claim Brazil won. The aspects I highlighted were countering the claim that it was a United Provinces military victory, trying to show how unilateral and incomplete is the quote the Peruvian likes so much, even though it does not come from a military historian nor from an expert on the subject.

The United Provinces fought well along with those of the Banda Oriental, and they won many battles, no doubt with valour. Brazil did not manage to win over them. However, in spite of the many military successes of the United Provinces, they still lacked the means to expel the Brazilian troops still stationed in Uruguay and to end the blockade. As for Britain, their interest was in preventing either the United Provinces or Brazil coming clearly victorious since it could pave the way to a major big state in South America, which is all the major powers have tried to avoid, be it Argentina or Brazil. Cheers.187.36.81.70 (talk) 13:24, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

  • As for Brazil not winning, Brazil was and still is a fragile country. Relocating troops at that time was quite burdensome, our troops were poorly trained, etc. You only need to look at the difficulty we had in coping with the various internal revolutions inside the country at that time, from north to south (the Farroupilha revolution you mentioned being a clear example of it). Besides Uruguay was home to a significant Spanish speaking population, most of the population if I am not wrong, and they were in a strong mood against the Portuguese speaking population, after all Uruguay had been a battleground between Spain and Portugal during colonial times (just look at how many times Colonia changed from Portuguese to Spanish and vice versa), animosities were particulary strong. Just before our independence, Portugal had annexed the Banda Oriental.

The United Provinces, as I said, fought well, invading the Brazilian territory and repelling our troops (battle of Ituzaingó, f.e, and the incursions of Rivera in the territory of Missões). They had already fought well against the British, when the British tried to take over Buenos Aires and were defeated. Brazil did not manage to expel them from the Banda Oriental. There came in the independence of Uruguay.187.36.81.70 (talk) 13:45, 23 November 2012 (UTC)

I realize you've just put your "busy" banner at the top of this page, but as there has not been any response from you to these requests, I wanted to let you know the nomination will not be held until your return, but will be closing shortly. Book citation

Hello--You have added the following citation to several articles (Manuel Belgrano, for example): {{Cite book |title= Mariano Moreno |last= Scenna |first= Miguel Ángel |authorlink= Miguel Ángel Scenna |year= 2009 |publisher=H. Garetto Editor |location= Buenos Aires |language= Spanish |isbn= 978-987-1494-05-4}}

Because the ISBN you supplied is mathematically incorrect, I have been trying to find a correct ISBN. Unfortunately I have been unable to confirm that this book even exists. Do you own or have access to this book? Can you confirm that the ISBN 978-987-1494-05-4 Parameter error in {{ISBN}}: checksum appears on the book? Is the ISBN on the cover of the book the same as the ISBN on the copyright page? Any help you can provide in clearing this up would be appreciated. I will be watching here, so please reply here.--ShelfSkewed Talk 17:14, 14 December 2012 (UTC)

Notice of Dispute resolution discussion

Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard regarding a content dispute in which you may have been involved. Content disputes can hold up article development, therefore we are requesting your participation to help find a resolution. The thread is "Juan Manuel de Rosas".

Guide for participants

If you wish to open a DR/N filing, click the "Request dispute resolution" button below this guide or go to Wikipedia:Dispute resolution noticeboard/request for an easy to follow, step by step request form.

What this noticeboard is:
  • It is an early step to resolve content disputes after talk page discussions have stalled. If it's something we can't help you with, or is too complex to resolve here, our volunteers will point you in the right direction.
What this noticeboard is not:
  • It is not a place to deal with the behavior of other editors. We deal with disputes about article content, not disputes about user conduct.
  • It is not a place to discuss disputes that are already under discussion at other dispute resolution forums.
  • It is not a substitute for the talk pages: the dispute must have been discussed extensively on a talk page (not just through edit summaries) before resorting to DRN.
  • It is not a court with judges or arbitrators that issue binding decisions: we focus on resolving disputes through consensus, compromise, and explanation of policy.
Things to remember:
  • Discussions should be civil, calm, concise, neutral, and objective. Comment only about the article's content, not the other editors. Participants who go off-topic or become uncivil may be asked to leave the discussion.
  • Let the other editors know about the discussion by posting {{subst:drn-notice}} on their user talk page.
  • Sign and date your posts with four tildes "~~~~".
  • If you ever need any help, ask one of our volunteers, who will help you as best as they can. You may also wish to read through the FAQ page located here and on the DR/N talkpage.

Please take a moment to review the simple guide and join the discussion. Thank you! EarwigBot operator / talk 12:42, 15 December 2012 (UTC)

Copy edit of Mauricio Macri

I've done some copy edit and have a few questions/notes about Mauricio Macri:

  • The section titles might benefit from a little tweaking. §Early life includes material up to 2010, into his fifties and his political career. Maybe that section could be retitled Early life and marriages or Personal life? §Political career could logically contain the sections which follow it, or it could be retitled something like Political beginnings or Early political career.
  • He arranged that the Boca Juniors institution worked in the stock exchange, to earn enough money to buy new players. I'm not sure what this means. Was the club traded on the stock exchange? (I note that last year's GA reviewer was also confused by this.)
  • I changed reelectedre-elected for consistency (similarly with pre-election). I generally like to hyphenate the double vowel, but feel free to revert.
  • midnight on 10 December This could be ambiguous. I changed it to midnight on the morning of 10 December.
  • He called on "all Argentines to follow his administration ..." The "his" sounds a bit weird if this is directly quoting Macri. I put it in [brackets], but maybe check if the quote is actually from someone else.
  • the Central Bank would operate on the price of dollar only when it surpassed certain requirements. I might be misunderstanding this. Why would the Central Bank of Argentina operate on the US dollar? Should this be [Argentine] peso? Or was the peso so unstable that they started using US currency?
  • and tried to remove the country from Mercosur I presume he was trying to remove Venezuela from Mercosur, but thought I should check that this didn't mean Argentina.
  • Kirchner ended in a distant second place, as a result of the higher turnout for the general elections. Is this about Kirchner herself or her party in the overall elections? Was Kirchner out of political office altogether?
  • Franco Macri admitted hiring private agencies to spy on Daniel Leonardo I just want to check for the wiretapping case, that it was Mauricio Macri who was indicted and not his father Franco Macri.
  • I think there was a bit of overlinking, and I tried to make sure things were only linked once per section, and to use surnames rather than full names where unambiguous.
  • I suspect that "30th Chairman of Boca Juniors" should be given less prominence in the infobox. It's notable, but it's not what he's primarily notable for and it's not a public office. Usually the occupation/employer/organization parameters are used for current information, but including the years in parenthesis should be okay.
  • I put some of the material that I didn't feel was essential in <!--wikicomments--> to make it easier if you want to restore it.

I didn't make a lot of big changes to the prose, which generally looked pretty good to me. Please let me know about the above points and I'll give the article a final polish. Thanks! – Reidgreg (talk) 21:57, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Thank you. I clarified the stock exchange thing, it was for selling shares of active football players. No, Argentina does not use dollars as currency, but there is little local industry and the peso is a very weak currency in international markets: that means that the price of the US dollar (meaning, how many pesos do you need to buy a dollar locally) is a highly important issue in local economics, as a sudden rise in that price increases the prices of all imported products and products made locally from imported stuff. In those cases, the Central Bank sells some of its own dollars, to compensate and lower the price. As for the mercosur, I replaced "the country" with "that country", that should make it clear that it was about Venezuela (which I had already mentioned in that sentence and shouldn't repeat, that would be in bad style). As for Kirchner, each province (the administrative division below the country itself) has its own results, and political parties are not as clear-cut as, for example, Republicans and Democrats in the US. Some parties win in their provinces but do not run elsewhere, and some parties are allied in some provinces and rivals in others. Usually the result at the Buenos Aires province is considered the most important one, as it is by far the most populated province, so I mentioned it. And you may be right about the Boca Juniors bit in the infobox, I never gave it much thought. I will search around the project a bit, to check what is being done in articles with a similar circumstace. Cambalachero (talk) 16:49, 22 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick reply! I looked over your changes and went through the article one more time, making some tweaks. I think I may have made a mistake with the $50 billion IMF loan and listed it as $50 trillion! (I might have gotten mixed up, some countries use decimals instead of commas to separate groups of three digits.) Now fixed. – Reidgreg (talk) 21:32, 22 May 2019 (UTC)

To all interested parties: Now that it has a proper shortcut, the current events noticeboard has now officially opened for discussion!

WP:CEN came about as an idea I explored through a request for comment that closed last March. Recen research has re-opened the debate on Wikipedia's role in a changing faster-paced internet. Questions of WP:NOTNEWS and WP:Recentism are still floating around. That being said, there are still plenty of articles to write and hopefully this noticeboard can positively contribute to that critical process.

Thank you for your participation in the RFC, and I hope to see you at WP:CEN soon! –MJLTalk 17:10, 26 June 2019 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Kick-Ass 3, 8.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Kick-Ass 3, 8.jpg. If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Ultimate End.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Ultimate End.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 25 February 2020 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Vilma Palma e Vampiros requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
