Greetings. Your recent edits to the Tai Chi Chuan article don't cite any sources for the info you've provided. If you could provide a verifiable source or sources, it would help maintain the info in the article, otherwise it is likely to be removed. Also, if the info does stay in, its nature as "secret" innuendo pretty much guarantees that it will have to be qualified as coming from this or that school. Regards, --Fire Star 火星 04:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Fire Star, be it as you will. I just feel sad that Taiji is taught the way it is today. Cottonball 04:22, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, me too. I don't disagree with what you've said (and I left it on the talk page) but we need sources to keep it in the encyclopaedia. Otherwise, I could put all kinds of interesting stories I've been told about the former masters in there! ;-) Cheers, --Fire Star 火星 04:26, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, Fire Star, i don't have any sources, because these are the things that i have come to realise over the years. Anyway, thanks for agreeing with me. If another admin takes it out, so be it.

Speedy deletion of TCM Herb List[edit]

A tag has been placed on TCM Herb List requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

Cottonball's response: "i wonder which part of the article is not in my own words. The article was copied from my own website which i have taken down. Can you please put the article back into Wikipedia? If you would do so, i will then copy the article from Wikipedia, and put it back into my own website.

This reminded me of a joke by a famous Singapore lawyer. He commented on what diplomacy is, and gave an example. A man was smoking in a church, and was asked to put it out. He asked 'Can i smoke when i pray? The pastor said 'No, of course not'. Then he asked 'Can i pray while i smoke?. The pastor replied 'Yes, of course. You can pray while doing anything.' "

Cottonball (talk) 06:11, 17 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Proposed deletion of Herb Usage[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Herb Usage, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

This article is specifically about Chinese herbology which already exists as an article. A redirect would be inappropriate as the title is a very general term and is not specific to Chinese herbs. A merge is also questionable the material already appears to be present in the Chinese herbology article, and the material here is not referenced. Thus, the proposal for deletion.

Cottonball's response:"Thank you for the above comments. i've improved the article by adding the references as required. The other comments are addressed below:

(1) ...the title is a very general term... --> Yes it is. Other non-TCM herbs, such as Ayurvedic herbs like amla, and Malay herbs like tongkat-ali can be added later on. The article is a work-in-progress, and will probably remain so for an indefinite period of time.

(2) ...the material already appears to be present in the Chinese herbology article (CHA)... --> The coverage is vastly different, as herb usage is not given for most of the herbs in the CHA. Also, this article contains about 3 times more herbs than the CHA. By contrast, it is true that the CHA contains the words "herb" and "Chinese", but this, by itself, should not preclude other articles containing these terms.

(3) No other objections were raised."

Cottonball (talk) 03:15, 18 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. On Herbs[edit]

I noticed that it was split, but in my time here at wikipedia, I have not seem much use of the '-' to signify what are essentially subpages. Perhaps use'(' and ')' instead? ex. Herb (patents); as that is what is commonly used in disambiguation. Cheers! ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 06:31, 23 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

TCM[edit]

Bravo. I am a new student of TCM, and I was disappointed with the TCM article on wikipedia. I had planned to summarize some of the basic concepts and post it, but I see you have already done so, and it is well-organized and neutral. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbfpfoss (talkcontribs) 21:56, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Herb (anti-cancer)[edit]

Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please discuss this article on its talk page. I can't figure out what the article is about. Is it about Traditional Chinese Medicine? Is it a list of herbs? Please, this article simply is not readable. It may be encyclopedic or not, as the topic of Traditional Chinese Medicine is certainly encyclopedic, but I cannot figure out what the article is about. --KP Botany (talk) 11:09, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Have you considered that [en.wikibooks.org Wikibooks] may be a more appropriate medium for what you are trying to create? Guettarda (talk) 18:09, 21 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I give up[edit]

I change my vote to delete. You won't listen. And you really want to argue points rather than write an article. It's all yours. --KP Botany (talk) 07:14, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, i noticed the change. i thought the purpose is reasoned debate, but i could be wrong. Nonetheless, thank you for the points you made. cheers. Cottonball (talk) 07:24, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Stand-alone server[edit]

The article Stand-alone server has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

1. Verification failure: The article says one thing and its source something completely different.

2. Wikipedia is not dictionary: This page is merely a dictionary entry for the phrase "stand-alone server", even though all it says amounts to the meanings of "server" and "stand-alone". 3. Wikipedia:Notability will never be satisfied for this subject.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
