Referencing styles

• Wow, you're asking a short question with an extrememly long answer! It is a bit confusing.
• In publications printed on paper (or similar media), Notes can be either endnotes or footnotes...
• Footnotes are given at the bottom of the page that the information they discuss is on.. and endnotes are given at the end of the article..
• But Wikipedia articles do not have pages. Each article is all on one page... so what we call footnotes are actually endnotes (!) since they appear at the end! But never mind that. Call them footnotes, in the context of Wikipedia (and the Internet in general).
• There is a difference between a footnote and the footnote style.
• Footnotes are always in footnote style. In fact, the name of the style comes from the fact that it is the style used for... footnotes. :-)
• References' can be provided in various styles, including MLA, APA, LSA, Harvard, Chicago..... and in the same style used for footnotes.
• But references and footnotes are not, technically, the same thing.
• I'm sure that was confusing. It helps to get some journals (or articles published online; there are countless numbers of those) and actually look at the notes, references, etc. to see what I mean..

Chen is not President of Taiwan.

I cannot believe what you just said. Chen is not President of Taiwan. He is President of the Republic of China. Just like Hu Jian-tao is President of the People's Republic of China. He is not President of Shandong Province. Chen is not President of Taiwan Province. There is no such thing. The "(Taiwan)" tag was devised in attempt to negotiate with your persistent decision to stick "Republic of China" in there. The original version was simply "Taiwan" followed by nothing else (disregard new articles' first edits that use "Republic of China" as they are too old to have anything to do with this). When Jerry772000 changed them into "Taiwan", there was no objection from anyone so a discussion isn't really needed. Until you came along.

I am advising Tainan County, Taiwan Province, Republic of China. That follows the Chinese naming conventions. That is the correct political divisions found and used in Taiwan. It is still used, believe it or not. TingMing 01:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

The Holy See does not have diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. They never did. You have reverted that multiple times, but that is completely false.
