A tag has been placed on File:Bangla Tribune Logo.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. ≈ MS Sakib  «TalK» 13:34, 13 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

@Moneytrees: It's been over a year now, and I find myself still unable to edit. I admit this is the hardest punishment for my mistake, and it has left me feeling quite depressed. I am very much upset about that. I made a serious mistake, but it does not define me as an ineffective user. Over the past decade, I have contributed by creating more than 200 articles and making over 10,000 edits. Also, I have a good history in the Wikimedia movement. There is no issue about my trustworthiness. Some of my recent edits did unfortunately breach copyright rules, and I fully grasp the severity of copyright violations. I pledge to exercise extreme caution in this regard moving forward. However, if I am not given the opportunity to edit again, how can I demonstrate my commitment to improvement? I implore you not to view me in a negative light and kindly consider unblocking me from editing once more. I assure you that I will be extra vigilant in the future, ensuring that such a mistake never recurs. ~Moheen (keep talking) 10:17, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

In order to lift the block, we need to be certain that you understand how copyright works on Wikipedia. To allow the reviewing administrator to assess your understanding, please respond to the following questions in your next unblock appeal, explaining in your own words:

  • What is copyright?
  • How is Wikipedia licenced?
  • Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia?
  • Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content?
  • How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future?

Your answers will enable us to establish whether or not you should be unblocked. Yamla (talk) 10:22, 5 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

Dear @Yamla:, I was asked some questions in the last unblock request. I am answering them. What is copyright? Ans: Copyright is a legal protection granted to the creators of original works, giving them exclusive rights to control the use and distribution of their creations for a specified period. This protection applies to various forms of creative expression. * How is Wikipedia licenced? :Ans: Wikipedia’s texts are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-SA 4.0) International License, which allows for the free use, modification, and redistribution of Wikipedia's content, subject to certain conditions. Many texts are licensed with the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL). However, some Wikipedia content is only compatible with CC-BY-SA licenses and cannot be used under GFDL. The media files on Wikipedia have a wide variety of acceptable free licenses. Why is copyrighted content not allowed on Wikipedia? Ans: Copyrighted content is not allowed on Wikipedia primarily to uphold legal and ethical standards. Because Wikipedia operates under a specific licensing model called the CC-BY-SA license. Wikipedia’s contents should be allowed to mix, transform (derivatives), and be used freely, even for commercial uses. That is why content licensed under certain CC-BY-SA licenses, such as NonCommercial (NC) and NoDerivatives (ND) are not allowed on Wikipedia. Under what circumstances can we use copyrighted content? Ans: Wikipedia can use copyrighted content under specific circumstances when it falls within the bounds of fair use; when explicit permission (compatible with Wikipedia) has been obtained from the copyright holder or when adhering to legal and ethical guidelines. The use of fair use content is also subjected to specific rationale and policy that must be respected. Generally, Wikipedia must have permission that is compatible with Wikipedia to use any copyrighted works. It is worth noting that permission to use content on Wikipedia alone is not sufficient as Wikipedia’s content should be allowed to be used freely. How do you intend to avoid violating the copyright policy in the future? Ans: When collecting information from internal (Wikipedia) and external sites, I must rewrite this in my own words and avoid close paraphasing. This is one of the reasons why copyright infringement occurred by me. I’m aware that direct translation of copyrighted materials can be a copyright violation which I will pay attention to. Although mistakes happen, I can firmly say that I understand the importance of adhering to Wikipedia's copyright policy and am committed to ensuring that I do not violate it in the future. Note: I have re-reviewed Wikipedia's copyright policy so that there are no future instances of copyright infringement by me. At last, I am glad and thanks to @Moneytrees for the advice which helped me. ~Moheen (keep talking) 15:00, 18 October 2023 (UTC)

Accept reason:

With the blocking admin's consent, I have lifted the block. Moheen, please note any further violations (of WP:COPYRIGHT, of WP:FAIRUSE, or of any other policy) will result in an immediate reblock. This is the second time you've been unblocked after inappropriate behaviour, it's incredibly unlikely there'd be a third. Please thoroughly familiarise yourself with WP:5P and all associated policies and guidelines if you haven't already. All that said, I also wish to offer a sincere welcome back and happy editing! Yamla (talk) 10:15, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Moneytrees:What are your thoughts on unblocking this user, with a caution that any further violations of WP:COPYRIGHT or WP:FAIRUSE would result in an immediate reblock without warning? --Yamla (talk) 15:17, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Yamla I would cautiously approve of an unblock. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 23:18, 18 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Moneytrees and Yamla: Thanks to both of you. ~Moheen (keep talking) 10:25, 19 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
